  • I'll join in. I've been seeing my RE since November 2015 and have one more test to pass before I get the go ahead for our first IVF cycle. Diagnosis was stage 4 endometriosis which ruined one of my tubes. I've been through two surgeries and  4 months of Lupron Depot. So anxious to get started but also so nervous.

    IVF cycle # -  1

    Type - ?

    Protocol - ?

what are you doing to pass the time?? - Worry. I feel like it's all I do. Once we finally get the all clear to order meds I feel like maybe I can relax for a bit. For the time being Mardi Gras has been fun. Happy Fat Tuesday y'all.
  • @MMD1986 - happy mardi gras! are you somewhere where they celebrate? I went to university in New Orleans, and I miss Carnival season!

@rainbowwishes5 thanks for the welcome!! I hope this cycle goes well for you. :)
  • I'll join you here.  I am hoping for a 2nd ER at the end of March and then FET or 3rd ER in April.  We will see how things go.

IVF cycle # -  1.5 (?) We are prepping for a 2nd ER after 1st did not produce anything viable for transfer

what are you doing to pass the time?? - I started running short distances again and I found a local yoga class that I really like.  Next week H will be away so I will need to get creative on making the time pass

  • Hello! I am sticking my toe in the pool.... I expect to have a donor egg transfer in late April, based on the timing of my last few cycles.

I have suffered the loss of five pregnancies (no living children) and then as soon as I started to work with an RPL specialist, I was suddenly unable to conceive. So, the DX now includes secondary IF, DOR, low AMH, and mild MFI. All the fun things!

IVF cycle # -  this will be our first transfer

Type - Donor egg from My Egg Bank, DH's sperm

Protocol - Not going through retrieval, so my prep is a little different than most. I will start Estrace on CD 1 of my transfer cycle, but until then my protocol is based preventing loss. It includes a steroid, an anti-inflammatory, and some additional supplements.

what are you doing to pass the time?? -  I have been really depressed for the past few months and I am just now realizing how down I had been. I know I need to exercise, so I joined a gym and plan to take better care of myself between now and transfer time. DH and I have a weekend trip planned to go to NYC for a concert later this month and I am excited about that! Also staying busy with work and plan to get out with friends more often since I have been so reclusive in recent months.

Hate that this is where we are, but grateful to have support from this community.

    Me: 40, DH: 35 / Married: 2009; TTC #1: 2013

TTCAL with RE (RPL specialist): February 2016

Donor Egg IVF Transfer: May 1, 2017

    May 11, 2017: BFP!! Beta #1: 449.1, Beta #2: 844, Beta #3: 1714

  • Hey y'all!  It looks like we'll be doing our IVF in April.

IVF cycle-- I suppose 4th.  I had two cycles using my own ovaries cancelled for poor response.  We started a reciprocal cycle (wife's ovaries, my uterus) in January, but it was cancelled because she was not adequately suppressed.

Type-- reciprocal IVF with fresh transfer.  We'll transfer up to two embryos.  If we have more than that, the remaining ones will be frozen and genetically tested, for frozen transfers later.

    Protocol- antagonist

Passing the time- We're doing fun stuff when we can- a long weekend out of town, parties, theater, etc.  It's harder on my wife, who's out of work now, so she's looking for work and thinking about cleaning the house.  It's a good thing this cycle is already paid for!
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

  • I go here now!

    IVF #2

type: egg retrieval with hopefully a fresh transfer; I didn't have enough to freeze last time so I'm not holding my breath. Currently debating about assisted hatching.

Protocol: assuming it'll be the same as before, Gonal F, Menopur, cetrotide & Ovidrel but I'll know for sure March 23rd

Time is dragging fertility wise...part of me can't believe it's March & part of me can't believe this all takes so freaking long. I took a leave from my job (self employed so it doesn't matter), to help de-stress. I'm also doing acupuncture as of this Friday.
  • @fivetimesnoluck I remember you from our TTCAL board, I'm sorry you've been feeling down but all those things sound like great ways to lift your spirits! I feel like I get into this weird infertility fog and it's so hard to snap out of it sometimes.

I am hopeful that know that we have a plan and I have acknowledged what I need to do, that I will be more proactive. We'll see.

    Hi I just intro'd.

    1st IVF
Fresh Tranfer with Antagonist protocol with Immune work-Intralipids, Lovenox, and Prednisone.

On BCP now, Stims start Mar 16 along with Daily Lovenox and Prednisone. Intralipids infusion prior to ER, ER 27 March and another Infusion with ET 1 April.

I'm working a fair bit and just taking it all one day at a time and not trying to be a huge stressed out mess:)

  • @daisy222 welcome! I should be around the same time as you. As of now the plan is to start stims 3/24.

My RE hasn't mentioned a hard rule about alcohol or caffeine, but my plan is to cut them out completely as soon as I start my stims. Until then I have just been cutting back.  A lot of our social lives revolve around breweries and brewing as well, so it does make it difficult. I'm trying to find more things to do as well. So far I've been doing house projects and am trying to add in going to local sporting events.
  • @MMD1986 yeah no rules on caffeine or alchol but apparently cutting out all gluten (I guess there's the alcohol) and dairy was recommended to me...... hard pass. I really don't think that's the problem here. I keep having cps because I eat yogurt? I have a hard time believing that.

  • Hi and thanks @MMD1986! Do you think they will recommend a fresh transfer for you?

I think we talked about Lupron Depot a few months ago in my intro post! (you recommended the add-back pill). I was wondering how long it took for side effects to stop after your last shot? I received my last (and final) "30 day" shot 31 days ago and I am still as hot-flashy as ever, so I could see this lasting a bit longer. Ugh. I've been sleeping in the guest bedroom for the past month because I am sleeping so poorly.

Me: 34 ("unexplained IF"), DH: 40 (he is fine!), Married since 2013, 2 cats :)

    TTC since Aug 2014

May 2016: laproscopy, found & removed moderate (stage III) endo (largest growth was on R ovary)

    Summer/Fall 2016: 3x IUI w/ clomid & trigger shot, 3x BFN

Jan 2017: 2 months of lupron depot to quiet endo (ugh). Done!

    March 2017: IVF #1 (antagonist) Cancelled/converted to IUI #4 on 3/31/17, CP :/

May 2017: IVF #1, try 2 (Lupron added). ER 5/23 (14 retrieved, 11 mature, 10 fertilized, 3 blasts frozen, 2 PGS normal). FET in late July!

@rainbowwishes5, yea it would be soooo much easier if there was an exact rule on what to cut out because it was proven to help.

@daisy222 I can't remember exactly how long it took for the side effects to go away. I was scheduled for a shot (#5) a week after I had my laparotomy, but my RE said I responded well enough to surgery to not to need to continue my Lupron. So I don't think I can offer real advice because I had surgery pains and things that I noticed probably way more.
  • Ok so no more down reg protocol for me since lupron is really not working out. I'll do antagonist and hope for the best. Ugh. This is the worst. I have to do this all at my own expense so that I can finally fail enough to qualify for an egg donor!

  • tentatively joining....doing a March IVF cycle; if I get any normal PGD-tested embryos, I should be having an early/mid April FET!

@MMD1986 - i actually went to Tulane! i grew up in Massachusetts, decided to go somewhere warmer for college, and after graduation I ended up back in Boston. I was planning on staying in New Orleans, but my 4th year (i was an architecture major; it was a 5 year program instead of 4 like other majors) was Katrina, so I decided to move back up north. I try to visit every year or two, and this past fall I got to "introduce" DH to the city!

  • I see some familiar faces from ttcal, so sorry you're here also. Everything crossed you all get your take home babies soon.

I'm pretty sure I'll be joining you ladies here so I'll jump on in. History in my siggy but basically I'm dealing with secondary infertility (mild pcos but no real diagnosis on why I'm not getting pregnant) had an ectopic last february, no luck conceiving naturally or with 3 iuis. I have my ivf consult tomorrow and am on the schedule to start stims in april, not sure the exact date yet. I am a total newb to ivf and will probably have lots of dumb questions along the way.

  • question: how long have you all been on bcp before starting stims? at my last appointment during an iui cycle, my RE prescribed bcp for day 1 if the iui wasn't successful. I feel like there was a lot of confusion because I tried calling a few times to get clarification but the nurse didn't really know what I was talking about. Long story short, I am waiting to hear if my insurance will approve ivf coverage, my dr went ahead and prescribed bcp day 1 but when I spoke to the scheduling nurse, she said the soonest opening to start ivf was end of april regardless of insurance approval. CD1 was feb 28 so I called the RE to see if I should do another iui given the 2 month wait period but the nurse called back and said to just start bcp since that's what the dr wrote in my chart. The scheduling nurse made a point to say to dr tends to go ahead and start bcp without realizing it can be a long wait to actually start. apparently they only start 3 patients a week on stims. does any of this sound normal? abnormal? am i over thinking it? the nurse mentioned if i'm on bcp and a spot opens for some reason, then the RE can start stims earlier so I'm thinking this is why I started bcp so early? I have my ivf consult tomorrow so I plan to ask then but just wondering what's normal and what's not.

  • @brooklyngirl18 That's so confusing and another case of clinic communication issues.  In my case, my first round of stims I was on bcp for around 3 weeks (maybe a few more days than that) while they got insurance authorization and ordered meds.  This cycle I will stop after 14 days.

I am lucky, my clinic does not batch IVF patients but I still had to call a bunch of times last week insisting on information on getting my meds ordered and an end date for my pill.  It's so annoying.

They will likely have you take bcp at least until the insurance coverage is authorized and your meds have been ordered and delivered but if your cycle is getting pushed back until next month that will delay things.  Make sure you get a concrete answer at your appt tomorrow.  GL!

My dr is hopeful I will be approved but it's possible I'll need to try 3 more iuis. I should know by Friday or monday. • I posted this on the March IVF board but I'll post here too since my ER would be in April if we move forward to IVF #2:

I can't decide what to do... I'm currently in limbo after my first IVF fail.  My acupuncturist wants me to wait three months to see if we can improve egg quality (I had 3 retrieved & 2 fertilized last time).  I was kind on board with it but I talked to the nurse I work with and she & my RE say they'll start me on lower doses so I can stim longer (last time it was 9 days of stims) & hopefully get a few more, plus they'll use a different pipette to retrieve and hopefully get more.  So now I can't decide.  Do any of you do fertility acupuncture & how has it effected your IVF process?
  • @Aera11  I am currently doing accupuncture and taking Chinese herbs as well. I haven't yet started my ivf cycle but now that i know that others are interested in similar routes i will definitely post my feedback :)

Thanks for starting this @rainbowwishes5 I've been staying away for a little bit for a mental break after last month's disastrous (12 eggs to 0 blast) cycle and because this process can be so all-encompassing, but I'll participate here since I have on Jan (stim), Feb (ER), and March (anticipate stim) too.

@rainbowwishes5 I'm sorry your last MDL (I think that's what it was) cycle did not go as you'd hoped it would.  May I ask why lupron didn't work out for you for down reg?  Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought your insurance covered four cycles?  If so, that's great - twice as many as mine does.

@aera11 I can't believe how late in the year it is either.  We're just a stone's throw from April (EDD from our first pregnancy was on DH's birthday). *sigh*

@Marley629 What did your Dr. advise regarding post-ER exercise restriction?  I was told I was only allowed to "stroll" for two weeks!  I didn't even think about it so planned a ski trip for the week after (which i had to move to this month).  I don't even like exercise (though I go to the gym for yoga/spin every day before work) but of course when you're told you can't do something you want to (and treadmill strolling is VERY boring). Then two weeks pelvic rest after my hysteroscopy three weeks later.

@Daisy22 and @MMD1986 If my body cooperates, I *think* I may be on a stim schedule similar to yours (waiting to ovulate then will start with luteal lupron to suppress).

@MMD1986 I was trying to do no alcohol or caffeine at first, but all of the restrictions (scheduling trips, activities, not being able to exercise) was kind of making me batty, so I've had maybe 1-2 drinks/week when out, and maybe one coffee/tea every two weeks or so.  Honestly, I'm much worse about sugar :(

@brooklyngirl18 For the last ER (kind of like laurad75) I was on OCP (starting CD3) for three weeks, and the calendar I got for another antagonist cycle (which I won't be doing) for this month, they would have had me on it for just two weeks.  My doctor doesn't like to keep people on it for too long because of the risk of oversuppression.  I'm concerned lupron will oversuppress me, but trying something different.  I hope you don't have to do 3 more IUIs first - good luck in May!

@Aera11 I go to acupuncture, but it's mostly to calm down for IF-related stress/anxiety.  I find it relaxing and I have insurance coverage for it.  She hasn't given me any herbs though.  At my age, I hesitate to wait, but if you are younger it could make sense to see if making diet/supplement changes makes a difference.

IVF cycle # -  2 (#1 was antagonist, with testosterone priming via Androgel which I worry a little bit is killing my egg quality, bc suppression, 300 gonal-f, 150 menopur, cetrotide days 7-9, ovidrel trigger day 10, ICSI)

Type - ER with high hopes for PGS/FET, but more open to fresh xfer this round (the last one insurance pays for) if again it's looking like PGS won't happen.

Protocol -  Luteal lupron (no OCP overlap) is the plan.  Maybe we won't ICSI all of them this time?

what are you doing to pass the time?? - Trying to plan little date nights with DH, heading out of town for that ski trip that didn't happen last month tonight.  It's annoying because I'm having to do OPKs this week as I'm waiting to ovulate - but we can't even try naturally because I'm on the Androgel again.  I started going to a therapist on my RE's recommendation (also covered by insurance) - not sure it's a great fit, but I think it's not hurting.  I've also been doing this fertility yoga DVD that has a series for each phase of your cycle.  Kind of boring and not much of a workout, but it's "yoga" with a different objective and makes me feel like I'm doing something to get the blood flowing in the right places.

Sorry for any weird autocorrect typos - I feel like it's been even worse than usual.  I'm on mobile and am a terrible touchscreen typist!
