WTF Wednesday

Re: WTF Wednesday

  • @mrsrep123, I've had a few nosebleeds, too! I don't know if it's pregnancy or sinus related, but it sucks.

I commiserate with the husband who loses everything. After 5 years, I'd like to think we're getting a little better, but really I just get less annoyed. Yesterday it was his computer bag. He asked where it was, I said check the hallway closet, he checked the hallways closet twice and tore through the rest of the house, I said "okay, I'll help." Opened the hallway closet and it was hanging on a hook like it was supposed to be. How do you miss that?!

My WTF is to the home buying process. The house looked perfectly fine, but inspections have revealed SO MANY issues. Possible foundation, chimney, electric, radon, furnace, and on and on and on. I didn't expect our first home to be so difficult and now I'm wondering if we're going to have to just walk away. We'll be trying to negotiate repairs with the sellers this week.

  • @bacorrea I know how you feel my 18 m old is 93rd percentile height 40 weight. He's already wearing 6s in shoes slow down kid!
  • @kns1988 hopefully you can get the house stuff figured out soon!  I hate to say it but that is A LOT of big ticket and very important items.  If the seller is willing to fix a lot of them then it would be a maybe for me as far as moving forward with the house.  But if not, I would definitely walk away.  It's hard to walk away when you love a house but a money pit or a house falling down around you is the absolute worst! Sorry for unsolicited opinions.

My WTF Thursday is:  WTF colleague...you are on call tonight and not me.  So you are to report to this location at 3pm.  It's 5pm and you're still not here!  We all have our turns and today is yours!  I have stuff to do too!!!
  • @rkstro2, yeah, that's where we're at, too. We would absolutely walk away if they aren't willing to fix the issues or knock off 20k or so so that we can do the repairs ourselves. I'm just so tired of being in limbo!

  • @kns1988 hopefully you will find something out for sure soon!
  • @kns1988 ugh that really sucks! I hope they work with you, but those are some major issues and I'd personally be scared to death to take those on, but that's just me! Good luck!!

  • @kns1988, the same thing happened to us with the first house we had an offer in on. Everything looked great from the outside, but when the inspector started looking at the foundation, plumbing, etc, there were just WAY too many issues. We tried to counter asking the seller to fix, but ultimately decided that we weren't up for dealing with all of the stress that would be involved with actually executing the fixes that would be needed. We ended up walking away and I was totally heartbroken. Fast forward 4 months, that house had 2 other offers that were pulled and the house dropped almost $100k. Eventually, someone bought it and tore it down and built a new house. Anyway...long winded story to basically say, some of those things (especially if they are structural) can end up costing WAY more than you expect them to. I know it's hard to walk away and really frustrating...I'm sorry you guys are going through this.
