Re: March FET Buddies

• @bestofjoy thank you! Glad to hear she'll be here sooner than later. It sounds like I'll be on birth control for a 2-3 weeks before we start the FET cycle. At first I was a little annoyed for more waiting but I also have a case of OHSS and am feeling pretty terrible right now. OHSS is so frustrating because I followed all of the prevention tips and am doing everything I can now but I'm not really getting any relief. It's miserable.

@Mando15 Apparently you can't really prevent it. If you have over 20 eggs and high estrogen (3000 or higher), then chances are you will develop OHSS. My RE downplayed it and didn't diagnose me with OHSS but another doc I spoke to said I clearly had a rather bad case. I actually ended up going to emergency one night where the doc was a bit alarmed with my blood work and ultrasound and the level of pain I was in; I was terrible for 10 days until my AF arrived (excruciating pain, bloating, fever). My AF is usually heavy so you could imagine how lovely it was this time (I actually stayed in bed for 2 days with electrolytes and iron supplements).
• @bestofjoy ugh, that all sounds terrible. I don't have a fever yet but I am in constant pain and it's only 3 days post ER. I don't know if I can handle another whole week of this! I did have 23 eggs and my estrogen was 5000+. I thought maybe I was in the clear because my Dr changed her mind day of retrieval and said I could do a fresh transfer if I wanted. Boy am I glad that I didn't now! I heard it's even worse if you have it while pregnant.
I'm really dreading going back to work tomorrow since I've barely been able to handle lying on the couch and taking it easy all weekend. Well, I'm glad you are feeling better now! I guess the only thing I have to look forward to is my Day 5 report and that we end up with a decent amount of embryos to freeze!
On a different note, have you decided how many you will transfer next month?

• Hi ladies! I'm new over here but having been lurking around. I had my ER the end of January. We got 32 eggs, 29 mature, fertilized 24 and biopsied 14. We now have 4 PGS normal in the freezer and are scheduled for FET 3/13 at this point pending any set backs. I had my endometrial scratch and start my patches this week.

My RE is very aggressive with her protocol. We Will taper up patches, estradiol tabs, vaginal estrogen cream, PIO, progesterone suppository cream, prednisone, lovenox and intra-lipids leading up to our transfer. Given my RPL we are throwing thmy kitchen sink at this.

Hope to get to support everyone getting ready to bring their embabies home soon

• @DungeonTrollMel Hi, welcome here. Wow, RE is really aggressive but given your history it makes sense.
@Mando15 I'm doing only one embryo transfer since it's PGS normal and insurance only pays for single transfer.

• @bestofjoy nice, that makes sense. We unfortunately are paying for everything out of pocket so PGS is just a bit out of our budget so we are opting to transfer 2 with the hopes of at least one normal. Twins are not our goal but we would absolutely be thrilled either way if it means we finally get our first BFP! Do you already have a transfer date?

• I had to pay for PGS, meds OOP, our rock star fertility insurance turned out it wasn't.
• @bestofjoy that's interesting that your insurance will dictate the number of embryos you transfer. I would think it should be left up to the discretion of your RE and what they deem the best option given individual circumstances

@DungeonTrollMel You'd think so but apparently this is special infertility coverage through the employer so they may be able to impose stricter conditions.

I'm trying to pave the way to a more relaxed/zen me for the next month, so I'm implementing some changes: I'll do meditation, exercise, acupuncture, nutritional supplementation and booking a few days' vacation right after FET to just be in the zone. The stakes for this FET are very high, so I need to do my best.

How's everyone else doing?
• Lurking-- I'm really hoping to join you all later but not sure I will make it for March. I have a hysteroscopy/laparoscopy scheduled for next Wed. then I will be given my FET schedule at my follow up apt. I had one of these 5 years ago but can't seem to remember my recovery time. And I didn't have an iui for several months after it. Have any of you had this procedure? What was your recovery time. Do ya'll think I'm out for March?

• Hey ladies! AF graced me with her presence a few days early so we've officially begun our FET cycle! Super excited to get this show on the road. Starting estrace 3x a day for 2 weeks. I asked about transferring 2 this time and he asked if that was a financial decision since we have no coverage (to which I said yes). So he said if we transferred one and it didn't stick, he wouldn't charge for the next cycle. What do you ladies think? Should we just go with one (not PGS tested)? I'm so ready to have a baby but a singleton would be the healthier option.

• @thucks Good luck with the procedure and really hope you can make it in March. I had a lap for endo last year (but not a hystero/lap) where they removed extensive endo, so I think it may be different. My recovery was about a week or so but I had sex interdiction for about 2 months after.

Lin&say If the cost is the same, I'd go with one for two reasons: one, singleton is healthier and two, if say there is an issue with the lining/body/receptivity one month, I wouldn't want to risk both embryos
• Thanks @bestofjoy. Looks like I may not be in the March group and April may be pushing it :( that sucks. I'll still hang around and root ya'll on. I hope March is a lucky month for you all.

• Hello ladies!
I've officially started my first ever FET cycle. It's CD1 and I just went to my RE to get all the meds. Looks like I'll be put first on Estradiol (Progynova) for the whole cycle, then from CD15 onwards Progesterone (Utrogestan) and from CD16 Crinone.
I gotta say I'm a bit surprised there's gonna be that many meds.
How about you ladies? What will you be taking this cycle?

@thucks - I had a lap & hysteroscopy last December. Recovery took me around two weeks (since they did end up finding endometriosis that they had to remove). The earliest we could move on - back then with IUI - was the next cycle. So not sure if you can do both the lap & hyst and the FET in the same month. I think it really depends on whether they find anything. I remember my RE telling me that if they wouldn't have found anything, I would have potentially been able to do an IUI

@lin&say - I think there's two important things to consider: first, I think you need to think about whether you and your husband would be able to handle twins well (eg. is family living closely that could support, will you have to go back to work soon etc.) Second, with twins you will automatically be categorised as a risk pregnancy. I don't know what your history is and if you had any losses before. We unfortunately did and our RE highly recommended us to go with 1 embryo only, since a risk pregnancy is the very last thing you need after having had a loss in your previous pregnancy.

@DungeonTrollMel I plan on also adding resveratrol supplements and foods (grapes, blackberries) and white button mushrooms in the follicular phase. These are supposed to be aromatase inhibitors like letrozole and this helps for cases of endometriosis.
• @HopeSIN that's actually a pretty minimal amount.

my FET prep is as follows:
last week bargain estradiol patch x 1 every 72 hours
yesterday added estradiol 2mg tab twice a day
tiesday I increase patches to 2 every 72 hours
Wednesday I will add vaginal estrace cream
next Tuesday I add PIO injections and 10% progesterone cream vaginally twice daily
i also have an estrogen gel on stand by in case I need to add it

i also am on vitamins E, CoQ10, baby aspirin, high dose folate and vitamin d and will be starting prednisone next week as well as lovenox

• Hi all! I'm going to join since it looks like we will be doing FET in March.

I had my retrieval on Saturday- 10 eggs, 9 fertilized, and now 8 ongoing embryos. We are doing PGS/PGD testing on the embryos. Hoping to transfer mid march!

Once I get my period, RE will begin to prep my body for transfer- estrace, medrol, and PIO.

• Hi ladies,

Sorry I've been a little MIA lately. This last week was quite a whirlwind. (TW, sort of?) I drove from NC to MD to be with my best friend while she gave birth to her first child. It was an amazing experience, and while it was a little scary at times, it ultimately made me even more determined for this next FET to work.

So we've been doing PIO the last few nights and are gearing up for our transfer on Wednesday morning. Once done, I'll head back into the office so I'm not tempted to laze around the house. (Dr says bedrest isn't good after an FET).

Also, in my signature you'll see the March FET spreadsheet if you'd like to add your info. : )

• @LeFemmeViolette Wow, your FET is coming up so soon! Fingers crossed for you
• @DungeonTrollMel Wow, by reading all these posts I just realise how little I know about FETs and protocols for it. I've done all the research in the world one can do for the actual IVF but I thought after that it's not going to be that technical anymore, so I guess I was wrong, hehe ;-) As far as I understood I will be doing a "controlled" cycle since I'll be on Estradiol, later Progesterone and then Crinone (whatever that is...) and I already know my transfer date will be 18th of March. But I also saw that some other ladies are taking way more meds than me. Are there different types of medicated/controlled FET cycles?

Question to all wise ladies here: I'll be taking Estradiol (Progynova) from CD2 onwards, on CD15 I start with progesterone (oral) and then from CD16 onwards I'll be additionally taking Crinone. FET is scheduled for CD20.
Will the estradiol prevent ovulation? Is there a risk that there could still be sudden ovulation and then the cycle would be useless? Would really appreciate your insights! Thanks so much in advance!

• @hopesin my clinic told me that usually when you supplement with estrogen you don't develop a lead follicle and ovulate.

But, some clinics do "natural cycle" transfer where they use your bodies normal hormones and timing for the transfer. So they try to time the transfer around dpo7-9 when an embryo would normally implant. These cycles are susually lower medication versus the ones that are completely controlled

@LeFemmeViolette - that's so exciting! How was it? What were you up to after the FET? did your doc order you bed rest or light normal/daily activity?

@DungeonTrollMel How are you doing so far? When's your FET scheduled for?

Question to those of you on controlled/medicated cycles: what cycle day are you FETs scheduled for and how many ultrasounds did/will you have before that?

• @LeFemmeViolette I love this picture! May i ask, did they use assisted hatching? My first FET they did and it implanted but wondering why these 2 seems so much further "along". My embryo slot split then failed to form into the proper parts. I want to ask them about whether it's thawing technique, assisted, or quality....thoughts ?

• @LeFemmeViolette I was thinking of you, transfer on the first day of spring, yay. Good luck with your two little embryos.

AFM, waiting for AF, then U/S and things getting real. Ugh. I admit that despite trying to relax with acupuncture, massage, positive thoughts, etc, it's hard not to dread the outcome. It feels so final to me...
• Hi all, I just had my first IVF fresh cycle beta and it's negative. I had bleeding start yesterday and it continued into today. They got me in this morning (10dp5dt). I'm heart broken. I will call tomorrow to get info on an FET. Can anyone instruct me on what the cycle looks like for a FET? All my nurse said is I'll have to take estrogen by mouth so to call with my pharmacy # and I think she said I'll have to do progesterone but I zoned out. I was currently on progesterone suppositories.

Has anyone gone straight from one cycle to the next? What time frame am I looking at? We have 5 frozen embryos, in going to push for them to transfer 2. They transferred 1 last time. Any info is great!
• @hopesin I am scheduled for march 13.

As far as how many scans/ schedule when I got AF after my ER I went back on BCP for 17 days to give me time to shut down and do my hysteroscopy with endometrial scratch. I had a baseline scan the day after stopping BCP (last Monday) 2 days later (last Wednesday) i started 1
estrogn patch every 72 hours. Sunday I began estradiol 2mg twice a day. Yesterday I upped the patches to 2 every 72 hours. Tonight I added vaginal estrogen cream

i have a scan friday and a scan Monday. If everything looks good Monday I will begin PIO injections and twice a day vaginal progesterone Tuesday. I will have blood work checked next Thursday and Saturday in prep for transfer a week from
monday.

Total of 3 ultrasounds and then 2 more sets of labs.

I have intra-lipid infusions on Monday, also start prednisone nexf Thursday and lovenox injections the day before transfer

• @krenee124 - I am so so sorry. I totally understand that you must be very sad and disappointed. As for your questions on protocols for FETs: I didn't do a fresh transfer and this will be my first transfer. I have with oral estradiol (Progynova) on cycle day 2 and will take it all the way till I can do a pregnancy test (should be on cycle day 32). From cycle day 15 onwards I will be taking oral progesterone (Utrogestan) and from cycle day 16 Crinone - both till the end of the cycle. I heard from other forum members here that there's very different levels of medication. You can see from DungeonTrollMel's post just above that there can be way longer protocols than mine. I would think that your clinic should be able to customise the protocol for your specific history.

@DungeonTrollMel Thanks so much for the insight. I was asking cause over here in Singapore the whole IVF cycle seemed to be way less monitored (blood work only once, only 2ultrasonds) than in the US or elsewhere and it seems the same way for the FET. I only have two ultrasounds (on CD11 & 15) and no bloodwork at all. Oh well...I guess one just has to trust the process.
We will be less than one week apart for our FETs :-)

• @krenee124 sorry to hear about your negative. Having now done 3 FET cycles, it's usually birth control for at least 3 weeks to "reset" everything. Then I start on estrace tablets 3x/day, and PIO injections about a week before the FET.

@JESSABER0414 Yes, they did do assisted hatching when they did the biopsy for PGS testing. These are by far the most "hatched" embryos we've had so far. I think the one on the top is the day 6, so it's had more time to grow.

@HopeSIN For my last 2 FETs, I went home after and just took it easy. My clinic is very clear that they are against bedrest, citing that women who go on bedrest after FETs have less of a chance of a positive. So for this FET I decided to go into work for the rest of the day so I wouldn't be tempted to laze around the house. It's just an office job, so nothing strenuous, but still got a chance to get up and walk around frequently.

• @LeFemmeViolette that's interesting. My RE requires a minimum of 2 days "princess rest" after transfer and she has the highest success rates I have ever heard. With my job requirements she actually wants me off the entire week after a Monday transfer
