@Burrberrymum from what I can tell the benefits seem to outweigh any negatives. I think my nurse midwife mentioned it's possible for them to look a little yellow due to increased bilirubin and chance of jaundice. She said that was rare though and easily fixed with light therapy.
We delayed clamping with my son, especially since he was born earlier than he wanted because I was induced. He DID get jaundiced, but we didn't need bili lights; I just supplemented with something like 30 ml of formula (total) that first day after nursing sessions to get him pooping and let him lay in direct sunlight, and he improved over the course of a week. I agree that the benefits outweigh the risk of too much bilirubin.
@disneybaby84 woohoo!!! Good luck today. Can't wait to hear your birth story and see your little one.
@Burrberrymum we are definitely delaying cord clamping. It seems to be highly beneficial, and the only positive to not delay is convenience for the medical staff, as far as I can tell.
I've been having BH every 5-7 minutes and on and off cramps alllll day. i hope all of these contractions are at least doing something besides pissing me off and making it extra hard to take care of DS. At this point 37w5d seems like i'm still so early in the game if this malarky is going to continue.
I can't remember if it's on here or where but can someone tell me what the Mexican hot chocolate does? Induce labor? Can I buy nestle abuelita packets?
@C25 in conjunction with raw cinnamon its supposed to irritate your bowels/stimulate your muscles enough to send you into labor! Nestle Abuelita is the correct brand as well! Its supposed to come in squares of brick chocolate though
@Gators&BoSox I feel your pain! I had that this weekend, luckily they subsided but man was it rough while also trying to entertain my toddler. I was preparing for a trip to the hospital if it got any worse. It did however dilate me more (now at 3cm) and make me lose my mucus plug, but no baby yet!
Well I just called DH to come home.. I'm waiting on a call back from the dr.. I'm having what feels like horrible gas pains and I want to throw up.. whether this is labor or a stomach bug I don't care I can't even begin to imagine putting DS to bed

Either way good luck! I thought I was going into labor this afternoon after about 3 AWFUL cramping contractions. I called my H to come home too! Then I pooped....I guess I had some backup Now the awful cramping has stopped I'm having strong irregular contractions ever since, sigh.
thanks guys! doc thinks its some bug going around and told me to keep an eye on it... i am feeling a bit better. for about a half hour straight my stomach was rock hard and i had horrendous sharp pains on the top half. thankfully that seems to have subsided. going to eat something mild and try to lay down

Oh no, I hope whatever it is passes quick! Feel better soon mama!
@disneybaby84 ... So late to the game but wishing you the absolute best! I don't know how I missed your announcement this morning??

@Gators&BoSox Hope you feel better soon. There are multiple bugs going around lately, and I'm worried about catching something so late in the game.
It seems like everyone's body is doing the same thing. I've been having BH/contractions for a few days now. They aren't extremely bad but I can feel them. I know now it's time for me to finish out these last 2 classes of lesson plans done because even the birth assistant who came to visit me on Monday said she doesn't think I'll make it another 4 weeks.
thanks everyone for the well wishes. I went to bed at 730 last night and actually slept the majority of the night besides the 5 times i got up to pee. Feeling much better

@Burrberrymum - we are definitely delaying clamping. The benefits far outweigh the risks IMO.
