@Allybiery I'm not a expert, but I believe that anything carbonated has the possibility of negatively impacting your bone density. I'm not sure why. It does also have some sodium in it, or at least the can I am drinking now does. So my guess would be that it is not as good as water, but better than juice or soda or other sugary drinks and better than not drinking anything. So it probably depends on what you are replacing with it whether it is a net plus or minus.
My midwife said sparkling water was fine.. at least the kind I drink which is lacroix. Her concern was artificial sweeteners which aren't in the kind I drink.
I feel super accomplished this weekend. We cleaned our house top to bottom, organized every closet, down-sized clothing to donate, cleaned our basement that was still riddled with boxes from having recently moved in and made space for my home office for when I start telecommuting next month. We even took the kids to the park everyday except today.
To somebody that knows about this stuff, is sparkling water still considered as beneficial as regular water?
I sure hope so.

@krex I hope you hear from her soon. I can definitely understand where your mind is going with that. Chances are very good that she was busy when she saw your text and forgot to respond, though.
@Allybiery As long as it is only carbonated water without and additives I have read that it is just as beneficial.
My parents came for the weekend and just left, I'm a blubbering mess. I am very fortunate that even though they are a few states away I get to see them fairly often, but I miss them so much!!
Do they all know it's a holiday weekend or something? I was telling DH last night that baby wasn't as active yesterday as usual, though I did feel some movement. It was just much shorter spurts of only a few seconds instead of the usual periods where s/he would move a bunch of times over a few minutes and then go back to sleep again.
But overnight and today so far seems to be back to normal.
They must... Victoria wasn't as active yesterday either. Crazy how so many of them are on the same routine! Lol
@krex I hope you hear from her soon. I can definitely understand where your mind is going with that. Chances are very good that she was busy when she saw your text and forgot to respond, though.
This. I am so bad about this and responding to messages in my head and not actually sending a response. I have everything crossed for you, @krex that it's nothing and you'll have your little one at home with you in a few short months.
Thanks everyone...I know I'm probably just being a stress case for nothing, but I can't seem to help it. I'm sure she'll be in touch soon, it's not uncommon for expecting mothers to have breaks in communication...I just need to remember that. I just hope she's ok (physically/mentally).
I wish I did better with water. Today was one of those days where ALL I wanted and could be satisfied with was soda. Definitely excited my allotted caffeine today. I try to keep it to Sprite Zero when I have to have soda, but it was all Diet Coke today. Whoops!

Wow. I am feeling terrible about my water intake now...do any of you do something special to make sure you drink your minimum? Someone mentioned an app? I just don't crave it or get super thirsty often and when I am busy throughout the day it just isn't a priority so any suggestions to help me do better?

@JAGinMI I have a 32oz Nalgene that I take to work with me. I try and drink one full one by lunch and another before I leave. That gets me to 64oz before 4p. Then I just count another five or so glasses once I'm home. Also- a straw, for whatever reason I feel like I drink more when I have a straw. If I remember to track it, the Fitbit app has a water tracker I use. Otherwise there are plenty of free water trackers in the App Store.
I think I need to drink more water. My DH had the day off yesterday and DD was in school so we went out on a lunch date. It was really nice. I'm trying to enjoy these rare occasions before they disappear again for a looong time when the baby comes.
MC Sept 2010 BFP Oct 2011 - DD born July 2012 TTC again since July 2014 First IUI 9/26/16: BFP! EDD 6/19/2017 It's a girl!
Born 6/26/17, 9lb 5oz
@JAGinMI I carry around one of those reusable water bottles with a built in straw. I've found that I drink more when I have that with me than when I don't.
On another note... a friend saw this article and tagged me in it this morning. It made me laugh and I had to share!
@Stankonia2014 I am SUPER jealous of your weekend. I was just asking DH last night, when are we going to paint the nursery?! By this time last pregnancy, I had the nursery done (except for a few decorations I got as gifts) and we had all our big furniture put together and in place. The nursery right now is still my daughter's play room, so we are going to have to figure out WHERE to put all those toys!!!
I use the fitbit app to track my water. I have a 25oz water bottle that I make sure to drink 4 of between leaving for work and getting back home. Anything at home is extra that I don't track. I would also suggest getting a water bottle with a straw. The straw definitely helps.
I can't lay down without feeling like it's hard to breathe anymore. It takes me forever to find a position where I'm comfortable and can breathe easily. Gotta love this part of pregnancy, right?!
I finally broke down and bought maternity jeans over the weekend. I had tried them on numerous places and they all just ended up being really baggy. PSA H&M has some really cute maternity stuff and it's cheap. I got two pairs of jeans for $35 each and a bunch of shirts that were only about $12 each. And I don't feel frumpy like most maternity clothes make me feel.
@JAGinMI I used an app before getting pregnant because dehydration is my main migraine trigger. When I realized I wasn't getting migraines while pregnant I stopped tracking but then also got down to only 5-6 glasses of water a day, so I track again. I've used Plant Nanny (each glass of water you drink waters a cartoon plant and you can grow a bunch), Waterlogged, and now just use an app called My Water. It's the simplest that I've found. These are all iPhone apps. What works about an app for me is seeing how much (or little) I'm drinking is motivation and the notifications help if I get busy and I'm forgetting to drink.
I have a 50oz Nalgene! It's sometimes a pain because it doesn't fit in the cupholder in my car and it's heavy and I often spill water all over myself haha But I try to drink at least 1 of those a day. I'm terrible about drinking water. Especially now that I'm peeing ALL THE TIME. Which makes me want to drink less water.
I just scheduled three more daycare tours for next week. Hopefully we like one of these, it works finance wise and they can give us a guaranteed spot for an October start. I will have toured 4 total after this.
Has anyone seen activity or heard from @kassyfry? I thought of her during our last FFFC after our previous one had so much cattle discussion and realized I didn't think I had seen her much lately.
I am insanely cranky today and I don't know why. Like I am snippy and slightly bitchy about absolutely everything. I feel a little bad about it, but not enough to consciously make an effort to stop. Sometimes I just need to be crabby.
Rave: I somehow managed to show up to my OB appointment an hour early (preggo brain got the time wrong) but thank goodness they got me in right away b/c I had my 18 month old with me and we never would have survived. This was quite shocking as I've previously waited hours at this same office.
Rant: My regular OB never has appointments so I've been seeing this other OB at the practice and I've taken a liking to her, well now she has no appointments, so I'm seeing a third one. I have no idea who's going to deliver my baby! I know it really doesn't matter but toward the end I like the "control" of at least knowing who my doctor is. I needed a lot of last minute appointments at the end of my last pregnancy and ultimately was induced and I just can't see going through all that with a stranger.
@EmeraldNC I'm in the same boat except I'm leaning towards this poor third baby isn't getting a nursery at all. We thought we could put our 2 and 4yo together to free up the nursery but my 2yo really likes his room. We might try again to see if we can make it work but for now the baby will stay in our room and I'll nurse/change in the living room or I'll set up a temporary nursery in the basement guest room for the baby and I to live in at night and DH can handle the toddlers upstairs. We didn't think this through buying a house with only 3 bedrooms on one floor.
I just scheduled out hospital tour and signed my kids up for a free "big kid" sibling class at the hospital . It said ages 2-8 so I hope my kids enjoy it. Anyone else doing a sibling class? I didn't do it with DD before because she was only 22 months.
I also picked up a big tote of DD's clothes I had left at my moms for the last year and since she smokes they all smell a little stale. Wonder how many times I will have to wash them before they are clean and fresh for the baby :-(
We just moved into our house last summer, and dh has always wanted a vegetable garden, so he feels like now is his chance. I don't think this is the year to start it up. We are not going to take care of a garden when we have two under two in the house! Plus we don't even know how our soil is or whether we will have deer, rabbits, etc getting into things. I think I have talked him down to a couple small raised beds with just lettuce, carrots, herbs and maybe a couple other things in container varieties for this year. Anybody have raised beds that you recommend? I'm thinking like 4x8 or two 4x4.
I have a question. So my DD will be 5 in April and has been asking where this baby came from. I'm not sure exactly how I want to describe it to her. She's too young for the actual process I think but I'm not really fond of the whole seed getting watered and growing deal. Have any of you with older kids explained it in a particular way?
Someone who hadn't seen me in about a year or so walked into my office this morning... told me I'd ballooned up and that I looked tired but I was still pretty. He's lucky I've known him for like 6 years otherwise he'd have gotten his head bitten off.
@Wearm1 WTF!? Not that either situation would be acceptable, but did he say this knowing that you are pregnant? I don't even know if I would have any words to respond to that appropriately in an office...
@mkrltz yes he knows I'm pregnant. Some people are just stuck on stupid and you know that and just let them be. All I thought was man I must be looking a little rough these days. Some people just can't help themselves except to say dumb stuff.
@LMMama I'm a big fan of honesty. By this age she can understand a basic version of how it works. I'd tell her that making a baby is like putting together a puzzle: the mommy has one piece, called an egg, and the daddy had one piece, called a sperm. When the mommy and daddy decide to put them together, it can make a new baby, which grows in a safe place in the mommy called a uterus until it is big and strong enough to come out. Even if she asks for more specifics to follow up, like how do you put the pieces together, I would be honest. No good ever comes from making sex and bodies seem taboo and secret, and kids always fugue this stuff out years before parents think they do. You want to be the one talking to her about it and showing her that you are a good resource.
Pro tip though- always ask her to elaborate on what she is wondering about before you answer. She might mean how is a baby made, but she also might just mean: did it come from outside you and get put in, or did it start it in there? Or she might mean something totally different. Kids are weird like that :-)
@ellie111227 I've used this brand a couple of times. The pieces just slide together and it's very quick assembly. The second time I bought it I let the packages sit outside for a couple weeks and the wood kind of swelled, which made assembly more difficult, but if you assemble right away it's a snap. It's not the highest quality but it was easier for me than building myself and worked perfectly for my small veggie garden (which has been horribly neglected since I got pregnant). I'm a, shall we say, hands-off gardener and it's definitely possible to grow lots of things without super careful attention as long as the plants are initially set up for success.
