Re: Weekly Randoms 2/20

  • Sigh, sickness has entered my house again. I am home with some kind of sinus infection. DS and DH had the stomach bug last week. I feel like all this uncharacteristicly warm weather is maybe not so great.

  • @itsfine we don't even have snow but I feel you.  We have been super lax on our cleaning since we haven't had to cut the grass in months and we were out working on our sprinklers yesterday dodging piles like crazy.  So gross.

  • Not much going on so far...tomorrow is viability day, and expecting mom has an appointment on Wednesday.  I haven't from her since last Tuesday...I texted on Friday and haven't heard back yet.  I know it's normal and probably nothing, but of course my mind immediately goes to "she's changed her mind."  I'm trying not to go down that rabbit hole, but lordy...it's tough.

  • @kahlan82 I feel your pain.  When DH got home from driving SS back to his ex's house, DS was complaining about his belly, and asked to go to bed (at 6:15).  Low grade fever last night, hanging around 100.6 all morning today.  I went to bed earlier than DH, and when he went to bed, he found DS just sleeping on the bathroom floor.  He apparently had gotten up to use the bathroom and was just too tired to walk back to his bed.

This is 2 for 2 on school vacation weeks starting will sickness.

  • @krex I'm sorry you feel that way. Keep us updated. I'm hoping for the best. I would be nervous too.
  • I was up and wide awake at 230 this morning.  Not fun.  Managed to get back to sleep after about an hour.  Then this little girl started kicking me in my side about 4.   Fun morning so far but at least I don't have to go to work.  We too need to clean up our yard.. lots of dog poo.  I'm super ready for spring to be here.   I'm thinking I'm going to get my rose bushes pruned and fertilized in the next week or two so they are ready to go.  That's a whole process though.  Very time consuming to prune them, fertilize them and spray them with neem oil to make sure they don't have any rose diseases to start the spring summer with.   I also need to replant all of my hanging baskets planters and my herb garden.   Lots to do in my yard before my little gummy bear gets here.
  • H shattered his pone last week. Such an annoying $200 fix. I could think of 100 other things to spend the money on.
  • @LOTON01 I shattered my phone in August. I haven't repaired it yet because its not horribly shattered, I've gotten used to it and I really don't want to pay for it. I should probably get it fixed before baby gets here. Where did your husband decide to get it fixed?

  • How many bottles of water/ounces do you drink a day?  I feel like I'm not drinking enough
  • @lmudra I drink at least 100oz of water a day.

I try to do a gallon, as recommended by my OB. Some days I need more, some days less. To me it is less of a hard number, and more about how I feel/pee color. But in general I do need around that gallon or so.
  • @krex it's totally normal to think about the em deciding to parent.  You'll have that thought until she signs TPR.  All you can do is love and support her either way like you're doing!  Try to keep your mind occupied until then (like it's easy haha)
  • @lmudra I aim for 88 oz while I'm at work and then anything after work is just gravy. That's based on a goal of half my body weight in oz.
  • Is anyone else experiencing awful carpal tunnel at night? I am hardly able to sleep these days. After an hour or 2 I wake up in excruciating pain that radiates from my fingertips to my shoulder blades. I have yet to find a sleeping position that doesn't aggravate it. And it's getting old. My OB said I'm SOL, which is hard for me to accept.

In other news, my little girl has recently discovered that it's fun to kick my bladder! It makes me giggle. I like to think that she's having fun in there (and who wouldn't love to kick a bladder)?

@krex Oh girl, I would be having the same fears if I were you. I sure hope that it is nothing though! Please keep us posted!
    ***BFP & Child Warning***

    Me: 34, DH: 38 ~ TTC since 2014
    IUI #1-3 (Nov 2015, Feb 2016, May 2016) = BFNs
IVF ER (July 2016) = 7 PGS normal embryos
    FET #1 (Sept 2016) = BFP! DD born 5/30/17
    FET #2 (April 2019) = BFN
    FET #3 (July 2019) = BFP! DS born 3/27/20
  • @krex thinking of you! Try not to stress! I'm sure it's nothing.

@imudra probably not enough. I need to get better, it's already warm here and the swelling is getting noticable. Thanks for the reminder.

@Knottie42089123 I'm 100% jealous of your day today! Enjoy!

@kahlan82 I hope you feel better soon!

Well my oldest who has autism but is high functioning had her first major meltdown in like 6 months this morning. Luckily it wasn't a violent one but my neighbors probably think I was beating her by the way she was screaming. Even my 2 year old was all "is sissy no cry now?" It was short for her, only 45 min, but I'm now mentally exhausted. We took a walk and going to get the little pool out this afternoon. Hoping for an uneventful afternoon. Dh gets back Wednesday and I can't wait for the help again. How am I going to make it through the month he is gone??

Mom to Madison- 5 and Lillian 2....and now surprise baby #3!

Rule of thumb is 1/2 your weight in ounces/day prepregnancy... I believe it's about the same during. Although I don't drink nearly enough as I should.

  • @danijo We have Sprint and insurance. They will fix it for $100 but have to send it out for 4 days. Hopefully they have a loaner. The other option is getting a brand new phone for $200 using our insurance. His phone is 2 months old but shattered bad.

I got other quotes $180 from apple and $280 from a fix the screen place.
  • @lmudra, I try for 100oz.

I'm dog tired, baby didn't move at all last night, I drank juice and laid on my side and nothing. He's usually super active at night, so my mind went to worst case scenario. He has since been moving, but now I'm exhausted. So I did what any exhausted person with the day off would do...clean closets out and the basement. Nesting in full effect.

I'd be drinking 55 oz/day...not enough for me pre-pregnancy let alone during pregnancy!
  • @LOTON01 - Thanks for the info!

  • @Stankonia2014 Adeline wasn't moving much last night either.  Even after dinner and piece of berry pie.  I guess she was having a lazy day but I was concerned as well. Try not to worry too much.  I think they have slow days in there where they just aren't super active.
  • Do they all know it's a holiday weekend or something? I was telling DH last night that baby wasn't as active yesterday as usual, though I did feel some movement. It was just much shorter spurts of only a few seconds instead of the usual periods where s/he would move a bunch of times over a few minutes and then go back to sleep again.

But overnight and today so far seems to be back to normal.
  • I almost never notice the baby moving as much over the weekend as I do during the week.  I think it's because I'm always running around doing stuff on the weekend and I'm distracted.  While as during the week I'm just sitting on my ass at a desk all day, so it's pretty easy to notice.  I looked down earlier while she was moving and I could actually see my belly moving for the first time.  I loved that during pregnancy #1 so I'm excited about it now.

I have a 24oz tumbler at my desk at work and try to have 3 of them a day, which is roughly 1/2 of my current weight in ounces.  When I work out in the mornings, I have an additional 12oz or so during the workout, and I also have at a minimum OJ with breakfast and a glass of milk at night (which I claim is for "heartburn" but is actually for "dipping my oreos into").  Some days I have additional water too if I'm extra thirsty.  When I was pumping at work after DD was born I remember trying to get in at least 100oz a day and it was hard but manageable.  I should probably be doing that now still but my current seat at the office is really far from the break room and I'm lazy, so I usually can only convince myself to get up and refill my cup if I also have to get up to pee or something.

  • I'm in hell! H and I are both sick, and of course he has the worst of it. DD is also sick, and she's constipated on top of it. She already has issues with going #2 on the potty. Yesterday I spent the day dealing with her screaming, refusing to go, and being sore from being cleaned so much, all by myself. Today isn't much better.

Yes my right hand only so far.  I got a wrist guard at Walgreens and it's worked wonders!  It's gray and black and goes just past my wrist.  They have options that go mid way up your arm as well.
  • Oh man!  I'm WAY behind in my water intake.  Time to get that water ap and get down to business!  Thanks for the info ladies!
  • Ugh it's still pouring rain outside. More trees are down. Power outages are still rolling through town and this morning dd woke up with a cough! Another joyful week.

I drink 66 oz of water absolute minimum. Usually much more. I got a 22 oz life factory water bottle with a straw a few weeks ago and that upped my water intake a ton.
  • I'm going to try to go for a run today when the kids wake up from their nap...there's a good chance it may just turn into a walk with the double stroller versus a run. I have the day off and it's gorgeous out!
  • I drink a little over 100oz per day. I have a serious love for water and cannot stand if my water bottle is empty.

Put me in the boat of worrying about baby movements. Last wed-fri I experienced very little movement compared to how much he was moving before. Saturday morning he picked right back up and they've been consistent since. I assume it ebbs and flows with his growth spurts. I remember going through different "quiet" periods with DS1. Still sends me into a panic...

  • Thanks @lmudra! I do have wrist splints that I've been wearing to bed but I'm going to go back to Walgreens and see about getting the larger one. Since the pain is extending the entire length of my arms I probably need a bigger brace.

Y'all are making me feel like I don't drink nearly enough water. I'm trying though. I always have water near me but just don't feel all that thirsty. I do increase my intake though if my pee turns too yellow.

  • I always drink a ton of water, like at least 120 oz per day even when I'm not pregnant, so i haven't been tracking it. I did just buy myself a case of flavoured sparking water though in hopes that I will start to have that as my drink treat instead of the huge quantities of chocolate milk I've been drinking the last couple weeks.

  • @FSUNole31  what?!? You didn't want to attend a day long professional development day? They are so entertaining. Ours is this Friday. We have a guest speaker that probably is being paid more than I am to talk to us for 2 hours. Why couldn't I have gotten sick at the END of the week? Can you tell I am super jealous of your "you" day? Enjoy your day.

@awillis13 poor little man. I hope he gets better soon and can enjoy his school break.

@lmudra. I drink 100 to 150 oz. a day. It isn't based on any rule. I am just thirsty ALL the time.

And +1 on baby movements freaking me out. OB assured me baby is still gonna have slow periods of movement at my last appt but we all know how rational PGAL brain is.
  • To somebody that knows about this stuff, is sparkling water still considered as beneficial as regular water?
