If you are new this week... Welcome! Please introduce yourself. Reintroducing myself for all the new people...I suffered a MMC about 13 years ago, before DH...then when DH and I attempted to start our family I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility and was told by my RE I wouldn't be able to get pregnant without IVF, which we could not afford....3 months after we were told this and after trying unsuccessfully for 3 years we got out our spontaneous BFP How far along are you? 11 weeks
How are you doing? (Mentally, physically...) Today I woke up feeling great, but morning sickness hit me late this evening and I haven't been able to eat much...I always feel guilty like I'm Not getting in enough nutrition for the growing baby
mentally I'm doing much better...I breathed a huge sigh of relief during our 11 week ultrasound today when I saw we still had a heartbeat
is your next appointment? I was released from my RE today and was supposed to be seen by my primary OBGYN for the first time next Tuesday, I called them to reschedule and they said they could get me in wed 2/22...but instead they scheduled me for 3/22 ...UGH so I have to call them back tomorrow...other than that I have my NT scan on 2/23

@jena333 I've always heard higher rates trend girl but I think it's BS. My DD was always around 145-155 and this LO is at 183 at 9w. I mentioned how diff it was from my DD and doc said "maybe it's a boy." Um...so who knows lol
@Sugargirl1019 WTAF with this BLOAT?!? I did NOT have this last time. So gassy but nothing happening whahhhh! Are you on Progesterone? Wondering if that's causing it. Just took this awesome pic of my 9w3d blump. And mind you I'm normally UBER flat bellied and 107. Yea not so much now lol. Feel like I'm gaining faster too! Herumfff.
@harleyquinn0621 Congrats on your good ultrasound! Glad baby looked good.
@Texafornian Stop flaunting your uber flatness in my chubby face. Seriously, though, you still look good! Chances are your bloat will settle down a little bit as you get towards second tri. How long does your doctor want you to stay on progesterone?
ETA: Also, I have lost 10 pounds, but look like I've gained at least that much. My body makes no sense anymore.
@amandarene112 that flatness will never be again lol...I'm thinking that this time around it's not going to snap back like it did before! Not as much elastin in this skin at 43/44...I'm going to have to fold my wrinkly skin and tuck it in my pants! the PA is keeping me on it until I see the OB on 2/28.,,I hope she takes me off of it then!!
Ive seriously gotten up to pee like 8x tonight and am listening to hubby snore right now. At my dad's in CO and the altitude/dry air is KILLING me! My nose got stuffy on the plane here so now I'm breathing through my nose and my entire body feels itchy from lack of moisture...I swear the altitude is not helping the bloat!!! Second gripe...my dad and stepmom were basically like "oh, that's nice. I guess congrats are in order" when I told them I was pregnant...whomp whomp lol
@ashley2824 My brother got me some Lillies once... they were the most beautiful flowers but they killed me, lol. I had headaches for days before I realized what it was.
That's what they are! My H loves them so he always gets them for me.
@amandarene112 i was feeling like a stuffed pig the other day got on the scale to see the damage and I was surprised to see i was down another pound...a total of 8lbs...and I am not working out and am only eating things that i can stomach...which isnt very healthy food.
side note...woke up this morning and totally realized I forgot to take my Progesterone last night...ugh. Panicked for about 5 minutes, then just said eff it don't forget again.
ETA: i haven't felt this "good" in a while...uggh still have like 4 more weeks of taking the progesterone tho...
ETA: Also, I have lost 10 pounds, but look like I've gained at least that much. My body makes no sense anymore.
^^Thissssssss. I'm down about 5 pounds, but am measuring about 2" more (at belly button). So much bloat. So much gas that isn't going anywhere.
I second this. I have lost 6lbs. But I look like I have gained twenty!
You guys, I'm so glad it isn't just me! I weighed myself this morning, and I'm down another pound, yet somehow nothing fits and I feel/look bloated. Maternity leggings are the best thing I've done for myself thus far, because any pants that hit below my belly button are super uncomfortable right now.
Also, my stomach muscles already feel tight and stretchy when I sneeze or yawn. I feel like I'm going to be an early shower over here, and I'm not sure how I feel about it.
I'm up in weight more so than I was at this time last time and seriously hoping it's the progesterone contributing to that and the bloat. No nausea so not losing any weight from throwing up or lack of eating over here...just the occasional woozy and then I feel better... I put on 38 lbs with DD but at this rate...oy lol
With DD I was so sick in first tri I lost almost 10 lbs and ended up gaining about 20lbs total. This go around I have twins and I'm on progesterone, so I think that's the reason I haven't lost any weight. I have been so nauseated and exhausted but still able to eat, so that's a relief.
How are you doing? (Mentally, physically...) anxious but hopeful. Boobs are sore and I get really nauseous at night
When is your next appointment? 22nd. I have an ultrasound that day. I am anxious to have another one. I feel like I will feel better if I see the little one again
Rant/Rave/Questions? This is the longest freaken week ever. Can't wait for this weekend to get here.
GTKY: Did you do anything fun for Valentine's Day? What's your favorite holiday? Nothing really fun just watched some tv. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday
Question for you all... Anyone else have MTHFR mutations? Turns out I'm homozygous for A1298C. I had blood work done in my first pregnancy since there is some scary family history of heart and clotting problems. My doc at the time told me everything came back negative, but I just requested my results from the lab, and turns out it wasn't all negative. After googling, I'm shocked my OB didn't tell me, as I would really just need to change the type of prenatal I'm taking. I know that it's the milder mutation, but apparently when homozygous it's associated with a significant reduction in enzymatic activity. So PO'ed right now.
Me: 30 | DH: 31 Met: August 2006 Married: July 2012 TTC #1 since June 2016
@icecubeinthedesert I have the MTHFR mutation! Basically my body can't methylate folic acid/folate so if I take a prenatal, the ingredients pretty much won't absorb and get pissed out. I take Cerefolin NAC which is a methylated folate...already done for me so my body can then absorb it. I take it along with my prenatal, 2 omegas and a magnesium. So far this doc hasn't even mentioned my MTHFR and my last OB noted it but didn't do anything different. I found out when I did a blood workup to find out why I kept getting sick...the panel showed an intolerance to gluten, allergy to soy and the MTHFR. My FIL is a doc and was the one who had me do the labs...he's the one who told me I needed to get on a methylated folic acid.
Just wanted to give you guys an update. Still recovering post d&c but I did get an appointment with my new doctor. They're over an hour away (and their associated hospital is also over an hour away) but their staff is far more competent and caring. They are also a full OB/GYN practice which includes three MFM specialists and all doctors work together as needed for a patients treatment plan. The exact words of the scheduler were "Let's get you in, establish care, review your history and set your treatment plan so we can get you on your way to your rainbow baby." That right there is a HUGE change in attitude over my current doctors office.
One thing I've learned about this: do not be afraid to speak up and find a new doctor. You have to be your own advocate. And if your current doctor is dismissive or their staff is incompetent and you are not comfortable that they are doing everything to properly treat you, then find someone who will. Yes, downside is we'll be in a hospital an hour away when we do have our rainbow and will most likely have to do a repeat c-section as opposed to VBAC but I'll take that as the trade off of being treated by those I trust.

@rainafire77 I am so, so glad you've found a doctor you trust. I hope your recovery is easy and fast, and that we see you and that rainbow baby soon! ((Big hugs))
@rainafire77 I am so happy you stood up and advocated for yourself! No one deserves to be treated like a number, especially regarding pregnancy loss. Your new doctors office sounds fabulous. Continue healing and you will get your rainbow soon enough.
@icecubeinthedesert I'm also MTHFR A1298C. I take SmartyPants gummies from target (methyl-folate is more expensive, nothing we can do) and I also take methyl-folate and b12 from SeekingHealth.com in sublingual form.
You definitely need a baby aspirin daily, and depending on your physician will decide if you need Lovenox shots or not. I do not take Lovenox. There are different thoughts about how to handle 1298C. I was told I didn't need different vitamins and I'm like uh yea right bye.

@Texafornian and @Sugargirl1019, thanks for the feedback! @Sugargirl1019 I may switch to those too. Thanks for the recommendation. I can't believe my previous doc didn't even disclose this info to me if it's something with an easy fix. I understand the evidence is not conclusive, but you'd think they'd we on the side of caution when there is literally no medical risk associated with taking a different vitamin. I also think the aspirin is important. Interestingly, both my losses stopped growing the day after a blood draw. Wonder if it could have triggered small blood clots... Trying to collect enough questions for when I go back to the OBs office on Tuesday, so this really helps!

@rainafire77 I am so glad to here you feel better about your new doctor! It makes such a difference. People ask me all the time why I drive an hour to my OB/GYN and hospital. (I live in a small city but we have two hospitals, and therefore, lots of Drs) But everyone there always makes me feel so comfortable, and any time I've ever called them with a concern they've gotten me in within hours. Definitely with the small inconvenience of a longer drive.
@rainafire77 So happy you found such a good and encouraging dr... it will make all the difference as you try for the rainbow baby -- hugs to you!
Sorry I've been MIA this week -- it's already Saturday so I'll wait until the next thread (plus there's nothing much to report). Read all the posts, though, and happy that we're all inching closer and closer to the 2nd tri!
I'm also just catching up with what I've missed this week. Being in front of a screen seems to make my nausea worse, so I've been taking a break from both the computer and my phone.
But I'm so happy to see some good news for you, @rainafire77! Your new doctor's office sounds amazing! I had tears in my eyes when I read your update. Best of luck to you and your rainbow-baby-to-be!
@amandarene112 - That's so kind of you to ask! I'm doing very well, thanks. I actually asked my MIL to come and stay with us for the week, which is a big step for me and will be a challenge that hopefully (finally) brings us together. She's been entertaining the little man and taking him and our dog out for walks, and that alone has been such a huge help! With the extra downtime, I've been delving into books to escape this progesterone-induced nausea. You're a writer, so I'm assuming you're a reader too. What are you reading these days?
@ElleKHI'm reading Neil Gaiman's newest book Norse Mythology, a historic fiction called The Moor's Account by Laila Lalami, and a narrative nonfiction called The Lost City of the Monkey God by Douglas Preston. I've been reading sooooo sloooooowly lately because I'm just too exhausted to focus, and it's really annoying me. What have you been reading? It's fantastic that you're mil has been able to help so much! I genuinely don't know how my mil and I would do just the two of us in the house for a week.
Oooh, @amandarene112, how are you liking Norse Mythology so far? I'm definitely planning on reading that at some point. And thanks for the other authors and titles! I'm not familiar with them, but we seem to fall into overlapping genres, so I'll pick up a sample of each.
I'm currently in the middle of Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series, as embarrassing as that is to admit. It's a mix of legit fantasy and trashy romance, which often makes me laugh or roll my eyes, but the story is captivating enough that I can't put it down! I can relate to your lack of focus, but this one actually keeps me awake and cuts into my precious sleep time!
And yeah, having MILs around for that length of time always comes with a high risk of backfire, but it's definitely better this way for our little man. He'd be so bored this week without her.
DH got me Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere for Christmas, I loved it! And I read the Kushiel series several years back.I think it's the characters that hooked me through multiple books, they were just so interesting!
I've been on a "greatest hits" revival tour for the last couple years. I reread almost everything by Anne Rice, then Stephen King's Gunslinger series, then Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. Now I'm slowly working my way through the Wheel of Time series again. I gave up after I think book 7 last time (just too many characters to follow, and too long between "seeing" my favorites). I almost feel like I don't have the energy to invest myself with more characters, and that's what is bringing me back.
If you are new this week... Welcome! Please introduce yourself. Been lurking for a while, to scared to say anything I lost a little boy Aug 4th 2016. I was 14 weeks. How far along are you? 11 weeks 5 days
How are you doing? (Mentally, physically...) I had an anxiety attack today on the way to the midwives office. I ugly cried all the way there. I was afraid, still am. When they tried to find the heartbeat, my heart was pounding so hard they couldn't find it. Which scared me even more. She said we should go to ultrasound and then she found it just like that. My baby had a beating heart!! So how am I doing? I think the correct term is Hot mess lol but today I'm happy, thankful, and blessed
When is your next appointment? March Rant/Rave/Questions? I never know what to say when people ask me how many kids I have. I don't want to discredit my loss but I also don't want to explain. Andplusalso I'm socially awkward so usually my words just jumble and I walk away, leaving people dumbfounded. Anyone else?
GTKY: Did you do anything fun for Valentine's Day? What's your favorite holiday? We did a homeschool Valentines party and ate a bunch of sugar. But no romantic night out this year. My favorite holiday is Easter.
@mamasheridan Welcome I'm glad you decided to join us! I'm sure since you've been lurking, you've seen that several of us have had our turns on the Hot Mess Express, lol. So happy your baby had a good strong heartbeat! Drs appointments are so hard... I look forward to them for weeks, and then panic when the time actually comes.
@ElleKH I'm really liking Norse Mythology so far. (I'm about half way through.) I don't think it's my cup of tea, but I've heard good things about the Kushiel series. Then again, when I'm in a reading slump like this, I end up reading whatever catches my eye, so what do I really know? Glad your little man is having fun with his grandma. That would make the mil visit totally worth it.
10 week ultrasound yesterday! Supposed to be just a doppler, but they couldn't find the heartbeat so they ended up doing an ultrasound, same thing happened every time with my first baby and I ended getting an ultrasound at every appointment, it was great. Heartbeat 174, I even got to see it wiggling and hear the heartbeat for the first time, I ended up crying because I never thought I'd get to this point again. I'm going back in 2 weeks, they said they usually do 4 weeks, but with my history they asked if I'd be more comfortable coming back in 2 instead. Glad to be at a practice that finally gets the anxiety that comes after miscarriages. My first practice was so not understanding and cold.
Well I'm a complete big basket of nerves today. I started having brown spotting yesterday and mild cramping. Figured it was the resolving SCH and tried to ignore it. It got a little worse throughout the night and is still there today. I decided to call my OB just to hear them say "it's just the sch, just take it easy and hydrate" like last week. We'll the nurse I talked to was all "Let's me get in touch with your doctor and I'll call you back....I think you're too early for the fetal fibronectin test.." I asked what the heck that was and she said "Oh it's a test they do to see if you're going into preterm labor.."......wtf? 2 hours go by and still no call back...meanwhile I'm having a panic attack. Had to get DH to call to light a fire under someone's butt...OB thinks it's just the sch and she's not concerned unless it turns bright red. they scheduled me for a doppler appointment tomorrow morning because they said I'm so anxious. Well no kidding I'm anxious! You can't go throwing terms like preterm labor around to someone with a PGAL brain!!!! Needless to say, doppler appointment isn't good enough right now. I'm having another ultrasound at 2 at an outside facility.....ugh...rant over...
@mamasheridan My parents had a stillborn full term baby boy when I was three, so I grew up with the "how many siblings do you have?" questions all the time. I picked and chose who I said "1" and who I said "2" to. Sometimes I avoided the direct question by not giving a number and just saying "I have a brother named XX" (and named my living brother, not my deceased brother).
We have been pretty open about our past loss, but I'm really not sure how I'll handle it when we have a living child and people ask "how many?" I imagine I'll do the same sort of thing, "I have a son/daughter named XX" and avoid the number OR say "## living" or "## living and one lost before birth" or something like that.
TBH lying and saying "1" as a child who lost a sibling was hard sometimes, but I can't imagine making myself lie and pretending my LO never existed as a mother now, but I also probably won't want to talk about it to everyone in my future who will ever ask me how many kids I have, so I can totally understand where that question came from.
@laceyc1020 sorry they used such escalating language like preterm labour. That must have thrown you for a loop! I do hope it's just the SCH resolving itself and you won't have any more bleeding or spotting to mess with your PGAL mind

Sorry I've been MIA this week -- it's already Saturday so I'll wait until the next thread (plus there's nothing much to report). Read all the posts, though, and happy that we're all inching closer and closer to the 2nd tri!
But I'm so happy to see some good news for you, @rainafire77! Your new doctor's office sounds amazing! I had tears in my eyes when I read your update. Best of luck to you and your rainbow-baby-to-be!
Been lurking for a while, to scared to say anything
How far along are you?
11 weeks 5 days
How are you doing? (Mentally, physically...)
I had an anxiety attack today on the way to the midwives office.
March
Rant/Rave/Questions?
I never know what to say when people ask me how many kids I have. I don't want to discredit my loss but I also don't want to explain. Andplusalso I'm socially awkward so usually my words just jumble and I walk away, leaving people dumbfounded. Anyone else?
GTKY: Did you do anything fun for Valentine's Day? What's your favorite holiday?
We did a homeschool Valentines party and ate a bunch of sugar. But no romantic night out this year. My favorite holiday is Easter.

Rant/Rave/Questions? I JUST WANNA POOP
