@fbmandy55 You don't sound behind at all. I waited until after my shower last time to buy much of anything. Second time around I am sitting here twiddling my thumbs trying to come up with ways to feel connected to this pregnancy. There was so much work and planning/shopping the first time around and not much to do this time. So I am laser focusing all of that attention on one newborn outfit like the crazy pregnant lady I am.
I'm on team "I've bought almost nothing for this child." I bought a couple of outfits and my parents have generously purchased our nursery furniture. I'm waiting for showers mostly, and my first is in a week-ish! But I'm a little concerned because my other two are when I'm 35 and 36 weeks.... so I'm somewhat concerned that it'll be too late! But realistically I know that we already have a couple blankets and a bassinet and I'll probably end up buying our carseat before my later showers, so everything else is just gravy.
Love all the outfits!! It's still hard to believe that in 2-ish months, we'll be bringing our little ones home! This is what we brought DS home in...nothing too fancy. I've got the similar outfit saved as a maybe for the baby. I'm not sure I'm sold on it, though.
Coming home outfits are actually DH's responsibility! So far he has done well, and we will see what he picks for these little ladies! It's one of the few surprises for me during pregnancy and I love that he gets into it.

That's really cute! I wonder if my H would be interested in doing the same thing, since I've been doing most of the rest of the clothing purchases so far.
I didn't intentionally go out and buy a soecific coming home outfit. The one in the picture above was given to me by my coworkers. You can't see but the onesie had her name in rhinestones and the jacket had her initials on the back. And my mom has bought her the boots and flower
also we are on team leave baby in hospital stuff till we leave. I think I even stayed in hospital stuff too. Less messy stuff that we have to wash if there are accidents.
I have not figured out an outfit for this little girl, will be looking this weekend during my solo (!) shopping extravaganza. But I just had to share this hilarious pic of DS when we took him home--proof that sometimes even newborn clothes are too large. He was 6 pounds 9 ounces. Couldn't even get socks to stay on him, lol...
I feel like such a "been there done that" mom because while I truly enjoy looking at all of these pictures (esp the ones with real babies in them!), we are not at all thinking about what the baby will be coming home in! It's just not on our radar at all. And we have not bought anything baby-related this time. We do need to get a few things, including a nursing chair/glider and a carseat most of all (our baby one expired!) plus probably a dresser, but I'm not thinking about things like outfits or anything else at this point! I also think this kid might just survive purely on hand-me-downs, esp since s/he will have an older sibling of the same gender no matter what. Now this one is born at a different time of year than the others, but I still think we'll have enough stuff season-wise. I suppose when it's closer to the due date we should inventory the clothing.
Oh, and a pump! I definitely want to get a pump. I did remember to go ahead and get the prescription, but I need to figure out with insurance what to do next to get the pump.
I feel so far behind! We just moved into our house last Friday and don't have furniture yet because we've been so tired from the move. We don't have anything for the nursey yet and definitely don't have the coming home outfit but I have seen some on Etsy that I like.

If the baby is coming even remotely on time, you're not behind. All you need is a place for the baby to sleep (amazon prime pack n play order will do), and a carseat, plus supplies you can take from the hospital (mesh underwear, witch hazel pads and spray bottles for you; diapers, swaddle blankets, binkies and other junk I can't even think of for the baby). EVERYTHING else can come later. And can be ordered online to arrive within a week. It's nice to have a dresser to put clothes in and it's nice to have a changing table to make changes easier. But I wouldn't sweat it if you have nothing so far.
Team Green, so I bought two outfits. Both 50% off at Baby Gap. We'll keep the baby in a onesie until we leave, but then it's one of these cute outfits. These are 0-3 and will probably be way too big seeing as how DD was 6lbs 9oz and her newborn outfit was too big. But I'd rather get more use out of it.
Another question: how warm do you dress baby coming home? I'm in North Carolina and due end of May so it'll be warm with some humidity starting. Long sleeves and legs okay? Footies okay? Hat?

I would think about the temperature in the car to determine the answer. Because young babies cannot regulate their body temperature, cooler is better than warmer clothing and you can always put a blanket on them as needed.

^^^ This you will only be outside from the hospital to the car, and car to the house, so the majority of the time will be in the car.
I was thinking about the same thing @jayandaplus ! I live in SW Florida and its already hot (when is it not really)! We have some clothes that we've purchased, but haven't looked at any to determine a bringing home outfit. I know that we have the outfit that has been passed down in my family, its yellow and green if I'm remembering correctly, so it goes with whatever gender. I think its even crocheted! Maybe he'll wear that home, or maybe he'll just use the blanket that's been passed down. Just hasn't been on my radar with everything else going on, but I love all the baby pics and outfits!! So cute and makes it so much more real that its happening in a few months!!

I'm looking at take home outfits on Etsy, and this bugged me- this is the pic for a "Newborn Boy Outfit." I mean, I'm sure all models lie about their age...but come on.

Also, in regards to how to dress for the weather - the nurses explained that the general rule is to dress newborns just like us then add one more layer. So as others mentioned a blanket would be just fine. Hence the socks over the footie pjs long sleeves and hats instead of short sleeves and shorts. Remember they just left a 9mo. 98.6° spa!
@erinh2005 I have an A14 baby too! Were you on the bump back then? I feel like you look familiar!
I have a couple options I'll post when I get home later. Last time, we just brought whatever we though might be small enough to fit him! I do agree with bringing 2 size options because size estimates can be so off. They thought I would have a 9-10lb baby and I ended up with a 7lb little pipsqeak who was in NB clothes for about 6 weeks.
I haven't even thought about this! Yikes.... DS1 wore a sweet little two piece outfit from MIL. DS2 wore a kickee pants(sp?) onsie. I'm thinking I'll do the same for this guy. I just need to go get one. But my shower is in a few weeks so maybe I'll pick something from clothing given as gifts...

Oh yeah I remember this advice for baby #1, who was born at the start of winter (I feel like this advice is more important in winter when parents bundle their babies excessively, even when the babies are indoors.) I remember thinking, "well that's easy, because I already dress in one layer more than everyone else, so he can just wear the same amount as me" and that worked.
@livin541 Yes, I was in April! It's so different here now but I love it! We even had that one clicky group that ran the board and came up with that insane profile they all left crazy posts from and then revealed who they were at the end... def kept things interesting! I have the same screen name but diff profile pic. We're you April or August?
@erinh2005 OMG I totally forgot ALL about that until right now! That was insane! The April14 board was definitely way more cliquey, which is probably why I was mainly a lurker and didn't feel comfortable posting. Love our board now, even though I don't post a ton there's a much better sense of community and so much amazing support here.
I showed DH some different outfits I liked, including the one I posted before. He likes this one the best. I think it can be ordered as a body suit so pants could be used instead of the open gown that's in the pic.
@livin541 I just noticed Nate Berkus at Target today while I was grabbing a couple things online. The line is so dang cute! I just wish it were a little cheaper. Those llamas...seriously, to die for.
Re: Bringing Home Baby Outfits
I just remembered I also have a Tea Collection outfit and it's teensy, so it may be baby's only chance to wear it.
