Our current sleep situation makes sense now-yesterday all of a sudden in the afternoon, E got super congested, runny nose, fever, the works. I feel so bad for her, she sounds so pathetic.
Anyone doing something fun for the Super Bowl this weekend? I'm personally not, we usually just make finger foods to eat while we watch from the comfort of home in our loungepants

Making some yummy game day food and staying home here too. I wish it didn't start to darn late. I might be more inclined to to have a party or go somewhere. But we both work on Monday.
As of right now, we will be staying home for the super bowl. Some guys from DH's ship are having a party and we were invited. However I'd be the only female amongst a group of young 20-something guys drinking...and with a baby. Nothing about that sounds entertaining.
Yep...to both the separation anxiety and the sickness. AJ has a bit of a cough still. 12-15x a year for babies is what my pediatrician said too. @jodi1980 how long has lo been wheezing? Our doc eventually put AJ on an inhalable steroid and abuterol. It was the only thing that got rid of the cough/wheezing. But it's been gone for 2.5 months and hasn't come back even with another cold
My babies have only had one small cold each, since we basically keep them in isolation during the winter because they're preemies. All our friends can't believe they've never even had an ear infection. But guess who got an ear infection this week? At 28 years old? This girl. WTF.
So I win the worst mom ever award. I fell asleep nursing last night on the couch, sitting up. I woke up who knows how long later and P was on the floor. We have hard floors. Scared the living daylights out of me and I have no idea if he hit his head or hurt himself or anything because I didn't see him fall, and he didn't scream like he was in pain, but he was crying when I picked him up. I still feel horrible and I'm so worried that he hit his head on that floor. He didn't have a bump or a red mark or anything, but I just don't know how he could have gotten on the floor and not hit his head. It was so awful.

@winnie1122 maybe he kind of slid down instead of straight falling. Was anyone else home? Mayne they picked him up and later put him down. In any case, if you're worried, maybe call a nurse's line and see if there are any signs you need to watch out for.
@winnie1122 you are not the worst mom ever! I'm sure that has happened to many moms out there. It was something I was constantly worried about doing for sure. I agree that if you're worried call and ask about signs to look for, but if he wasn't screaming in pain I bet he's ok. Keep us updated
@winnie1122 You are not the worst mom ever. Being a mom is so sleep depriving. I've fallen asleep with Baby J on my lap too many times to count. Especially since she's back to waking up every few hours. Accidents happen. You didn't mean to do it. DH accidentally hit baby j on the head back when she was only a few weeks old. We took her in and the doctor told us she was fine. That while they are more fragile than us, they are also durable. I would find out what to look for and just keep on eye on him. Don't be so hard on yourself! Accidents happen.
Thanks ladies, ugh I still feel so bad about it but we've been keeping close watch on him all day just to make sure and so far nothing seems unusual. I'm just going to be paranoid during motn feedings from now on....

Definitely not the worst mom ever! It is so hard when they wake up frequently and nursing is designed to relax us. I've been so nervous about doing that, that I've given in to co-sleeping the second half of the night so I can fall asleep while I nurse.
@winnie1122 just keep a close eye on him. Babies seem to be resilient little buggers, try not to feel guilty! E smacked her head on our kitchen floor yesterday, and I was even watching her the whole time. It happens to all of us at some point!
I agree with every PP. you are no where near the worst mom ever. Accidents happen. The best you can do is keep an eye on his behavior which it sounds like you're doing. Seriously mom'ing is exhausting!!! I'm sure that could easily have been any one of us at some point.
I appreciate all the kind words, mom guilt is strong but I'll shake it off eventually. It does appear as though P also has an ear infection, which he's been showing signs of for a few days but not so blatant that I really thought much of. My mom was over tonight and he was tugging at his ear a lot, so she was feeling around and said she could feel the inflammation right behind his right ear. He's been rubbing his right ear and right side of his head a lot the last few days, but didn't really seems to react if I touched his ear or probed around that area, so I kind of dismissed it. So yeah, feeling pretty crappy today about myself but I'll scrape up off the ground and try again tomorrow. What's done is done. I'll get him in for a docs appointment first thing Monday.

W sleeps in a pack n play by our bed but I regularly fall asleep nursing him while sitting up in bed. It's pretty common for me to wake up an hour or two later and he's passed out across my lap. Often if he's really fussy I just settle in and resign myself to co sleeping for the rest of the night. So he slept 8 hours straight the other night which never ever happens and I slept horribly because I kept waking up in a panic and clutching at the sides of the bed in terror thinking he was about to fall off. I must've done it 5 or 6 times that night while half asleep. He was in the pack n play the whole time and totally fine. The sleep deprivation is no joke. We've all done things we don't feel great about.
I regularly fall asleep in the glider while nursing AJ. It got so common that now I set a 20 minute silent (vibrate only) alarm on my phone. I get ussettled with my phone in my hand or my on my leg. It will vibrate and wake me, but AJ will stay asleep, then I can transition him back to his crib and go back to bed myself. Only thing I've found that works.
Does anyone have any tips on dropping night feedings? My lo will be 6 months old in a few days and weighs 21 pounds.. I really dont think he "needs" to still be eating twice a night. I am just exhausted at work and dont know how much longer I can do it. Prob selfish of me but ahhh. I tried one night to send my husband in with a pumped bottle of milk and he lost his S***.. He takes bottles of bm at daycare just fine and we usually do a bottle at bed too to make sure hes getting enough. The past couple of weeks hes really taken to solids too so I dont think he should be hungry twice a night still at this point. We ve tried hard to make sure he doesnt fall asleep eating when going down for the night and making sure hes awake..he has no issue and doesnt freak out..I just dont get why he wont stay asleep. We ve tried a couple of times to let him cry it out and he just cries and cries.. I usually give in and end up feeding him bc I dont want him waking my 3 year old. Any advice is appreciated. Hes also had no formula at this point either but was wondering if should try doing bm/formula bottle before bed to keep him fuller.
I changed Baby J's awake time to 2 hours 15 minutes and she took 3 one hour naps today. I don't know if it's a fluke or the start of something beautiful.

Lucian was prescribed the albuterol on thursday and we just started it on Saturday. He's been wheezing since december on and off. It's usually bad in the morning and after a bottle. I feel like the formula creates more mucus making it difficult for him and thus coughing it up. I try to spread out his neb treatments with feedings for this reason. Glad to hear your LO is on the mend! We've been very fortunate with the mild weather this winter but honestly I'd rather it either be really cold because the up and down with the temps is making us miserable for both cold, viral infections and sinus pressure!
M does/did something similar. In the last week or so, I've been more diligent about night waking. The first time she wakes up. 12-2ish ill feed her and lay her back down. But when she wakes up again, I've been letting her cry. Each night she seems to be crying a little less. I wouldn't personally introduce formula, that doesn't seem to be the problem. I think it's become (for M too) a comfort/habit type thing. I have no grand advice, but it gets better! @john5111
@Jodi1980 uh! I HATE weather like that. Our winters are usually like that and it's the worst for illness. Most formula is dairy based and dairy increases mucus production (I've had several doctors tell me to skip the dairy if I'm congested). You might want to talk to your pediatrician about switching him to a soy or other dairy free formula at least until he's better.
So Q has started saying momma and playing with his voice. One of his new fav things is to growl... while saying momma. It comes out sounding like some possessed demon baby. It's terrifying.
Cloth diapers and solid foods is the absolute worst! I can't seem to rinse them out in the toilet well enough unless I really stick my hands in there. If I don't, all my diapers smell like poop and give her a rash. I got so sick of poop hands that I stuck Elise on the toilet today when I saw her poop face.I guess she is using the potty for pooping now. And less diapers for me to worry about!!!
@jodi1980 So jealous!! I LOVE live with kelly! I watched it all maternity leave, haha...i was so angry when Michael left because he wouldn't be on while I was on leave.
now i technically could stay over my cousins house in Brooklyn if I drove tonight (weather pending) and take mass transit into the city but that means I couldn't see LO tomorrow morning before I drop him off at daycare. I can't leave him....not even for that hot piece of @$$

My husband made us a diaper sprayer that connects to the back of the toliet. It's a total life changer. There are a lot of different posts on pinterest on how to make one! Cheaper than buying one (like a spray pal) bc they don't sell replacement parts.
Has anyone done an overnight trip without the babe and can share the experience? One of my great friends is getting married out of town and is love to go but mostly I'm worried I'll get there and freak out from being away from E. We already decided it would be too much of a pain in the butt to go as a whole family but my husband offered to stay with babe while I go. Also if I'm still breastfeeding, is pumping on a plane a thing? Help!
I've done 2 overnights away from M. One for my best friends wedding at 4wks postpartum and the second at 4 months for the marine corps ball.
It was hard at the time. But looking back, I'm so happy I did! If you have a rechargeable battery on your pump, you can totally pump on the plane. I was only gone overnight, but I still made sure to pump more after than she would nurse because I'm paranoid like that. But it went well. My freezer stash took a nice hit. That was one of the drawbacks. But I also never have a huge stash. 20-30 bags at a time.
I had to spend a few nights away from F when he was 5 months old. I definitely missed him and I felt like I wasn't sure what to do with myself, but it was for work so I kept really busy. I pumped in the airports (Moms Pump Here app was great) but I didn't while on the plane. My freezer stash took a bit of a hit, but I was able to ship some milk home and I carried some home on the plane also. I was way more nervous to go, but wasn't as anxious as I thought I'd be once I got there.
Sorry I've been a little absent this week. We are dealing with an ear infection and finally starting to get over a yeast diaper rash from the antibiotics so it's been one rough week.
I haven't had an overnight away experience but I will at the end of April. My husband will be staying home with her. I have flown though! There were outlets in the restrooms. That could be an option!

Oh no! Your week sounds like ours. Ear infection and M got a horrible all over body rash from her antibiotic as well Hope your sweet girl starts feeling better soon!
