thinkpositive2017 Fun! I actually told my mom that I thought we would name the baby Soren if it is a girl or a boy...but gotta sell my DH on it. It is one of the names he hasn't vetoed so that is a good sign.

The hubs and I decided on the names Siddhartha and Anandini years ago (like, when we were dating), but now that I'm actually pregnant I think I'd like more options for girls' names. I guess we have plenty of time to find something
@HollyGolightly09 I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but Navy is a pretty common girl's name in French, in case you weren't aware! It's Marine. (Bleu Marine is Navy Blue.) I think it's a cute name!!
Im a FTM so everything is new but i am hoping to be team green (i think my husband will be on board, though he would prob like to know beforehand) and we have two names sorta picked out (gotta discuss further!). Anyway, I was thinking when ppl ask we'd say "it'll be X if it's a girl and X if it's a boy." As long as we say it matter of factly like that ppl really shouldn't comment negatively, though I doubt they would anyway.....
@margareth Very cool..I didn't know that! I personally don't see why Scarlett and Violet get to be names but Navy is weird.
I told DH the same thing... I feel like if we just wait until we are sure to tell people and say "his/her name is_____" surely they'll keep their mouths shut, lol.
@mamachick2614 forgive me if this comes across snarky, I don't intend to be. Just curious, what if you aren't best friends forever ? Or the combination off all your friends names feels like it gives a lack of personality to LO whenever you look at them for being names after so many non family members or people they may never meet? Again not trying to be rude, just curious.
kaylaakosuaI guess I
never really thought of it that way. I feel like it’s similar to when people
name their children after their parents or grandparents. The Alix part of the name is after one of my
best friends, and although she has now passed, I knew a few years ago that I
wanted to incorporate her name somehow if I was ever pregnant again. She literally
saved my life a few years back when I was in an abusive marriage. The RAH part
of the girls name is after my childhood best friend, and although I can’t be
100% about anything I am pretty sure that having survived 27 years as friends
so far is a good indication that we will remain friends forever. And as for the
girl mn, this person is one of my best friends and also my Aunt, and the baby’s
god-mother, so I’m certain she’s not going anywhere! When it comes to the boys
name its Alix and Andrew put together and DH definitely wants his brother’s
name in there and I am fine with that. For me, the names honor people we love
and that love(d) us as people and as a family and I think when I gaze into LO’s
eyes, I will be reminded of those special people and the love they represent.
@mamachick2614 Thank you for responding. You didnt have to explain yourself. I think it's all very sweet. I grew up where I couldnt rely on anyone even family so I'm always intrigued when people name their kids after friends. As someone who has suffered much loss in life I love the idea of having them live on in that way. Super sweet.
@sableeg Nice, we will be in that area the 17th-19th for a big paintball tournament for FI (his name is David too ). I've only been to Austin, San Antonio, and Galveston ( just for the cruise port ). Texas is like a completely different world than I'm use to (Toronto, ON). I love ittt
@kaylaakosua You're going to love living in Austin! I might be a little biased though, since it's my hometown. When DH and I got engaged, I moved to Waco (about 90 minutes north), but I will never stop being homesick for Austin! It's such a fun, lively city. Plus, they have some amazing bakeries, which I'm definitely missing these days.
@kaylaakosua love Austin! Told my hubby that if I ever left SoCal to go to TX, I'd do Austin....aaaaaand we ended up near Houston instead since that's where his fam is.
I got the big city vibe down pat pretty quickly. The shock was the guns mainly and how you can buy ammo anywhere. Other shocks are just Canada vs USA. Like when when FI went to the Drs and I seen a debit terminal at the receptionist desk. So strange and foreign. I would only go to Austin mainly because in obsessed with bats (even got on tattooed in Austin) as well but I love the hipsterness of it. Entertainment everywhere. The only think I'm going to miss is the authentic cultures. He had a ton of culture shock when he came here. @Texafornian@mcdoug211@IdleFancy
I'll join the Texas talk to. I'm in south Texas now, near the coast. Grew up in DFW. Did college and law school in Austin (7 years total at different times). It's very different now. I went a few weeks back and barely recognized the place. Also, I find Houston and south Texas much more humid. This summer is going to suck!
Honestly it's f*cking hot there. But sunny hot to me. I can deal with that for August if I get to wear shorts in February (it was 80 the other day) @jmn1985
@bridge-and-wall I'm about an hour south of Houston it's miserable isn't it?! The other day was too hot for me...9 months at the end of August will be terrible
@mcdoug211 Yep. I'm actually terrified. One of the girls I work with was complaining how much her pregnancy was going to suck because she's due in mid-July and it'll be so hot. Please, we're so much worse off than that.
I'm in TN and had my DS July 15. I was miserably hot and so swollen. To know I have to go all through July and august too? Ugh. I hope it's a mild summer.
I live in WY, and I was in my first/early second trimester in the summer of 2015 and even stepping outside in the heat made me throw up. It was awful. I hate summer lol
I find DFW to be less humid than Chicago where I'm from! But the summer heat can be oppressive. Thank goodness for A/C!
I felt similarly when I lived in Boston. It was way more humid than DFW. Plus, my apartment didn't have A/C, so Boston summer sucked just as much as Dallas.
@bridge-and-wall I'm about an hour south of Houston it's miserable isn't it?! The other day was too hot for me...9 months at the end of August will be terrible
Where are you at? I'm in Friendswood...in between Galveston and Houston
I have a Liza and a Will (William). There are so many beautiful girl names out there, but Cora is at the top of our list. Boy names feel SO much harder. I love Jack and Max, but my BFF has boys with those names. I'll be starting from scratch if it is a boy.
@bridge-and-wall I LOVE Boston! My husband is a New Englander (Vermont) and so he worships all things Boston. I went for the first time a couple of years ago and just fell in love!
Sable Married to David 3/22/14 Mommy to my angel Ella Lynne born into heaven 8/24/15 Started TTC again October 2016 BFP on 1/6/17!
Now apparently DH doesn't like Delanie for a MN for Rylan because he "knew" a girl in high school named Delaney. Insert eyeroll. He was such a HO in high school I seriously freakin GIVE UP on girl names cause he's SCREWED THEM ALL.

*edited because it ate half my post.
DD is Giselle Elizabeth and we really feel like we nailed it with that name. So coming up with something else we love is proving a challenge.
Boy names we have are:
Theodore
Oliver
Alexander
-all family names
Girl names are:
Alexandra
Eleanor
Gabriella
Juliette
...and possibly Marie as a middle name since 3 of my sister in laws have the name.
This is going to be hard.
