Anyone thinking names yet?

Re: Anyone thinking names yet?

  • @MadisonInspires I've never heard of Remington for a girl but I love it. A lot. If I didn't already know the girl name that would go on my list. I also don't do MNs for girls but that's tempting.

  • @Breath_Easy92 Thank you. :) I didn't know if I liked it at first but the more I hear it the more I fall in love with it.

@Texafornian I love rem. It's funny because so many people try to call me Maddie, and I hate the name. But I'm in love with Madison, and if someone needs a nick name I usually tell them Madz. So I like hearing Rem, because if this LO is anything like me we may have to find other versions of Nick names.

  • @wellhithen Thanks! To be honest, we're more of a redneck kind of family and spend a lot of time around guns. My SO came up with the idea because of the gun. He's also named after the Tucker car, so a name with a lot of significance is really important to him. I thought it was tacky at first to be honest, but I'm quickly becoming obsessed.

  • @Texafornian I love Remi, that is just the sweetest name!

I love it too... I was pretty sad when one of our nieces named her puppy Remy over the summer, lol.

@HollyGolightly09  Don't let pet names stop you. I have a friend who named her dog Charlotte (she let her daughter choose the name, but seriously? Charlotte?). Also I personally share my name with several dogs. It just makes me more connected to my canine friends.

  • @HollyGolightly09 Ha! Though, full confession: Remy is definitely my dog's name as well. :* At 25, it was one of my favorite girl names and I couldn't imagine getting married, much less having kids, so my dear Bichon snagged it. It's perfect for her, but it is SUCH an adorable little girl's name! I love it and think it's definitely best as a people name, not a pet name. (Which has to be said, because I hate when people respond to human names with "That's also my chinchilla's name!")
  • @IdleFancy I feel you, I have used one of my favorite boy and girl names on animals... Finn and Scarlett. I've been kind of regretting Finn lately because I like Finleigh for a girl. Oh well.

  • @HollyGolightly09 My in-laws have a dog named Lucy. It isn't going to stop me from using the name for my daughter. It was my grandma's name and she was the best woman ever. I couldn't imagine using a different name for my first daughter.

GUYS! I found this on the Time magazine website, it's so much fun! You type in a name and it shows you its popularity over time, and you can compare more than one name! Like I put in George (I want to use it as a middle name for a boy) and it told me that it peaked in 1898 and would probably peak again in 2019! How cool is that? It's a just for fun kinda thing but I'll post a screenshot of my names chart!

    Here it is - https://time.com/93911/baby-name-predictor/

    edited to fix year

  • This is really neat to see. We already have our names picked out and don't want ones that everyone has....checking our names with even varied spellings (Nora vs Norah) confirmed that what I like isn't too popular to where there will be 5 in the kids class! Thanks for sharing this!
  • @jutondreau no problem! I thought it was super cool! We are having so much trouble with names lol.
  • My DH and I decided not to discuss names until we know the gender, he figures why spend time and energy/argue about a name for a gender we won't even have to consider. I think it takes a little bit of fun out of it but he can be pretty stubborn.

With my DS we decided not to discuss names with anyone as we didn't want their opinion to effect our decision. It definately worked out for us. My DS is Lawrence Phineas, Lawrence for my father and my DH's Grandfather and Phineas was an old family name on my DH's side that we ended up loving. Because we have 2 Lawrence/Larry's in the family we just call him Phin.

  • @SierraFoxtrot my DH has also been no fun with names.  He's all business sometimes and I don't think he's going to participate cutesy fantasy name picking if we don't know the gender.

  • DH and I have settled (for now... hoping it doesn't change again because I love this name) on Landon George for a boy. George was my grandpas name who passed away on Thanksgiving, about a month before we conceived. I like to think he picked out this baby by hand and sent them to us. For a girl we have NO idea. We can't seem to settle. We liked Delanie but now I guess we are rethinking. We may end up taking a list of names to the hospital and naming her after she's born if we have a girl lol!
  • @daniellelynette  At least y'all settled on one! We basically started over last night, lol. What other girl names have y'all talked about?

You could do Georgia for a girl to remember your grandpa by, whether first or middle :)
  • @HollyGolightly09 he really likes Elaine, he says it will go well with Easton (DS) but we can't come up with a middle name for that. I like Avery but he doesn't. He suggested Olivia Lane but his sisters middle name is Laine and I reeeeeally dislike her. So I said no lol. I liked Rylan Delanie but I don't know if he does anymore, i suggested Elaine Rose (my great grandmas name was rose) and he said maybe. @tiki8286 I actually did suggest Georgia as a middle name and he LITERALLY LAUGHED at me :(:( ugh. He also thinks if we have a girl we should do a name from his family but I think that's not fair because DS's middle name is his step dads middle name. So I think this baby, whether boy or girl, should have a family name from my side. My grandpas moms name was Hazel Opal and I suggested Elaine Hazel but he said no. We are having a HORRIBLY hard time with girl names. When we started dating back in 2012 we liked Riley Grace for a girl but Riley is way popular right now and my cousin just named her baby Grace. Ugh. I can't be a name thief. Why is this so hard  :/
  • We have an 18 month old, Luke. For a boy he will most likely be Ellis. I love the MN Graham, DH likes Henry. I like Henry also but for some reason love Graham. For a girl we are thinking Scarlet Louise (my grandmother's name is Louise- we would keep it secret until birth). We don't have a lot of girl names. I also like Isla and Siena. Last pregnancy we were set on Elena Kate for a girl (my mother is Helen and his is Kathryn, but I don't love it this time around.

@daniellelynette  The thing about using Elaine is, would you feel stuck in using all E names for any future babies?
Maybe Lainey would be a good compromise between Elaine and Delanie?

I definitely think this baby should be named after your family since DS was named after his.

Maybe it would  be easier to agree on a first name and then work on a middle name for it? That's what we're trying to do.

Edit: I think Olivia Hazel is beautiful...Olivia was his suggestion, but it's gets your grandma's name in there.

For girls, Navy and Ivy stayed. The new ones are: Aria, Isla, and Selah (Isla and Selah were originally nixed by DH but he now says he has no memory of that because he likes them both. Oy)

For boys, we still have Declan, Lucas, and Greyson. We just added Nolan and Sawyer... but, if I'm being honest I don't like either of those as much as the original three. I'm just trying to be cooperative, lol.

  • Do your so's come up with names? He didn't with my daughter and I don't see it happening this time. He just likes to say no to all mine haha. Luckily he's on board with my two names this time

Lol, that's basically how it's going over here, too. To be fair, he did start out suggesting names but when he saw the look on my face he stopped (his top suggestion was Tiffany)

  • @HollyGolightly09 you're right, if we do an E name this time I would probably feel like the next one should too or would feel like they're being left out. I love Lainey. I also love Olivia Hazel! I'll suggest that to him and see what he thinks. I tried to tel him that this baby should be named after my family but he thinks because the boy name is for my grandpa that the girl name should be for his side... like I get what he's thinking but it's still not "fair" in the way he's thinking it is lol.

So for your names, I LOVE your names. What about Greyson Lucas for a boy? I love when a name flows with the middle name. I'm constantly calling DS by his full name because it goes together so well lol. He's pretty much called "Easton Glen" by everyone lol. A lot when he's in trouble ha! I literally laughed out loud at Tiffany lol that's adorable. Sometimes DH says a name and I'm like... whaaaaa? Ha! He also does the thing where he forgets that he said he didn't like a name and then suddenly likes it lol
  • @HollyGolightly09 I love both Declan and Isla! (Actually, I like all your names, but Aria/Arya, Ivy, Grayson, Lucas, and Sawyer have all been used by family or friends! And DH vetoed Nolan.) I'm a third Irish, and my maiden name is very Irish, and we always thought we'd go with an Irish baby name to honor that heritage...until we got pregnant this time around, and suddenly we couldn't imagine using any of our Irish ideas for this LO. So if you use one of them, I'm just going live vicariously through you.

All that being said, I am still team Navy!

@daniellelynette Olivia Hazel is gorgeous! I also like Lainey. I used to read a blogger who had a Lainey. I really dislike said blogger, but I love the name!

  • @daniellelynette I love Hazel Opal! If that was a family name on my side my daughter would be named that. Love it.
My grandfather's mother or grandmother was named Ruby and that's our girl name.
  • @amandarene112 You have me wondering why you read a blog where you disliked the blogger lol.   I picture you reading her next entry just eye rolling... like ok time to see what this dumb dumb is up to today !

  • @sugarpixxie2 That's exactly what I do, haha! I used to like her, and then I realized things didn't quite add up, and once I did that I realized all these glaring problems. I still occasionally read the blog, but it's totally to roll my eyes and be judgey.

  • We found out we're having a boy and finally had our first name discussion.  He vetoed a few of the names on my list so here's our new list:
