@HollyGolightly09 I don't announce the name of the baby until it's born. Even though my names are family names I don't want people's judgement. It's easier to say "this is my baby Navy" then to say "I'm going to name her Navy I think." And to see the disapproving look. Then you forever know their dislike of the name. Anyway, I was super nervous about my daughters name and what people thought even after she was born. Until I realised her name was perfect and fit her.
I have been collecting baby names since I was a kiddo myself.
I have kinda a unique name (that became popular roughly 10 years after I was born)..and I am glad that as a kid it felt unique. We also have to be kinda careful because our kid will have a double barrel name example: first name, middle name, last name last name. And both the last names start with K so that removes having any first or middle names that starts with a K.
My DH refused to talk baby names (I did talk him into do the baby name swiping app TW: when we were pregnant this summer. End TW:). The only name we have ever agreed upon (though again not discussed much) has been Violetta. Excited that now he is willing to talk names again.
I personally like names that are either traditional or kinda weird..and often have kinda a hippy/nature tone to them.

@wellhithen We've actually talked about doing that! I live in the south, so everyone is a little monogram crazy, lol. I have considered telling people the initials but not the name... monogram and guess away!
@IdleFancy Thanks, I love the meaning behind it. I guess I should state it doesn't have to be the middle name, it can be the first name or whatever. I have suddenly become obsessed with Freya and FI is in love with it and with a guaranteed browned eyed, brown hair babe I think it will suit her!
We like Liam Bradley for a boy. (Bradley would be a combination of our siblings names. My brother's name is brad he passed away four years ago and dh bro is Lee and his sister is Ashley)
I've compromised on Matthew Philip for a boys' name. My DH wants to name the baby after himself, which I am not a fan of, but we've compromised if we call baby by his middle name. Philip is his uncle's name, who passed away about 10 years ago and had no children to use his name. I chose DD name with my favorite/ family name so I'm giving him more choice since he's been pushing Matthew for 2 years. We would call him Philip, Pip for a nickname.
Girls ideas so far: Evelyn (Evie) or Florence. Middle name Jean, DH grandma.
We we both like Georgia/George, but DD is Charlotte and it would be weird to completely copy the royal family

You guys have really good taste. I'm pleasantly surprised and happy to see people stepping away from youuuuneekk (read: terrible) names. We had a hard time deciding with DS our criteria was: no more than 2 syllables, not super common but not outrageous and we must be ok with any possible nicknames. We ended up picking Cole. A close second was Evan which will be on the table again. For girls I like Alice and hubs likes lauren/ laura
If DS had been a girl he would have been Charlotte. Not sure if that's still top of our list but I still like it. Also liking Elizabeth and Evelyn.
For a boy I like William (nn Will) right now. My GP name is Maximilian, which I know will never happen! DH and I haven't really discussed it yet but we like classic names and popularity isn't really a factor. Good thing we have lots of time!
I love baby names. Been kind of obsessed with names since high school and college when I used to write fiction. DH and I settled on names about 2 weeks into dating. For a girl, it's Lucy, which was my grandmother's name. For a boy, it's Frederick, which is s family name for him. We have not completely settled on middle names yet.
We talk names all the time but don't have anything we love yet. DS 1 is Reed, DS 2 is Luke.
For boys I like Noah, Alexander, Andrew, Nicholas.
I think girls are harder but I like Olivia, Emily, Lauren, Elizabeth. DH has said no to mast of them.
we are also expecting twins which adds a layer of pressure to make sure their names aren't too matchy, but go well together. We will probably wait to find out the sexes before we settle on anything.
I'm not sure! I have a feeling I'm going to have a very hard time naming this child. My daughter's name is Liadan. (Pronounced Lee-uh-den) Mostly because I wanted to name her something unique. I received inspiration from a Celtic story that I loved.
I don't know where to begin with this one. SO hasn't given me much feedback. I plan to also choose an uncommon name but I don't want it to be outrageous.
Team green last time and this time! I had middle names picked out last round, and we had a list of possible names to choose from. But less than 5 minutes of holding him for the first time and out came his name which wasn't on our list! We debated for a bit because it was super popular but he can shorten it, use his middle name, or his initials, to give him options. This round I was almost immediately drawn to the name Hannah so I'm wondering if maybe it's a girl. I probably won't bother with a list this time and just hope a good name pops up like last time
I have been thinking about names since 48 hours after I found out, LOL. I love old Southern names. DD is Mabry Hart (Hart is shorten version of my maiden name) Boy Name is set: Jeffrey Larson (call him Lars)( Jeffrey after my dad that passed away and then the same initials as my hubby) Girl Name: I love Quinn. I just can't find a MN for it. I really love Quinn James but hubby is not on board with boy names for girls. Others I like: Caroline, Hadley, Wren. I like Karlee only because it would be a mix of my dad & hubby's MN, I just don't love that name LOL
Married since 8/18/2006
***** TTC #1 since July 2012

My sons name is Troy Joseph. My DH also has he MN Joseph and we knew from the get go he would have that MN too. We loved the name Troy because it was a name everyone knows but it's not super popular. There won't be 20 Troy's in his class at school.
When pregnant with my daughter, we had the hardest time coming up with a name. For months she was Liliana Marie (my mom's MN is Marie) but towards the end I just hated the name. DH basically named her when she was born because I just couldn't stand to look at names anymore. Her name is Talia Louise (Louise is a family name). I did like Talia before he picked it but wasn't big on having two kids with T names.
Now we are on baby #3 and since pregnancy #2 my husband has LOVED the name Tiberius for a boy. He has talked about this name so much that our family (and I, shamefully) have started to like it. So if this baby is a boy, he will 99% chance be named Tiberius Lee (Lee is a family name). If it's another girl I have not even the slightest clue, and I'm not even gonna think about a name until I find out the sex of the baby.
I didn't really wanna be the family with kids whose names begin with T, but looks like that's where we are going.
we aren't 100% settled on a name yet but right now we are thinking

We have an Emma Katherine so our boy name is left over from that pregnancy, William Jones (both are family names.)
For a girl this time around we will use Rose or Ann as middle names and for first names we like: Eleanor (probably won't use since we already have an E name) Charlotte Olivia
@HollyGolightly09 Navy would be a cool middle name I think - but not for us as DH is IN the Navy lol.
This is going to be long... We have a bit of an argument when it comes to names. DH is a junior, and believes he can somehow convince me to agree with naming a son III. No. No. No. First of all his name is Michael. His dad goes by Mike and so does he. And i am just so over the name, and that is just too confusing. My Pap's name is Steve, my dad's name is Steven and my Brother's name is Steven, and they all go by Steve. That is confusing enough, I don't want my son to deal with that. So we came to an agreement in 2015 with my 1st PG that we would name a son Jeremy Michael Steven. Jeremy is the name of a pilot that he lost in 2008, Michael is his and his dad's name, and Steven see above. His nickname would be "Jem" from To Kill a Mockingbird (I'm a nerd). We have been ok with this name since then. NOW! Now because last year his squadron lost a pilot he wants to name our son Jeremy Jeffrey? No. It doesn't go, and my heart has been set on Jeremy Michael Steven for 2 years...ugh the saga shall continue on this one I am sure.
For a girl, we cannot agree at all. Ann is a family name on my side, EVERY female on my dad's side has it in their name someway somehow, including me. On his dad's side Mary is a part of female's name. He thought we should name our daughter Mary Ann. Now this is a nice name, but it sounds like an old lady to me. I like the names Elizabeth Ann (Elizabeth is his mother's middle name), Harper Ann, Charlotte Ann, Eleanor Ann Marie. But he's all mehh about them, and says "We can discuss this when he find out the gender"....men...
My baby name selection is a little complicated because my sister is also pregnant but due in August. I don't think we will have an overlap in name choices because we don't tend to have the same tastes in anything, but you never know! She's the type to announce the sex and name right away (that's what she's done for her other three), so at least I'll know in advance.
Stepson is Aidan Riley (Riley after my husband's father). I normally love super Irish names, but I'm just not feeling it right now.
Girls: -Mary (husband is descended from the Stuarts, as in Mary Queen of Scots) -Elsie (middle names of my grandmother and favorite aunt, first name of my great grandmother) -Theodora (nn Teddy) (my grandfather who passed away over Thanksgiving was Theodore) -Poppy (again after my grandfather, we all called him Poppy, and one of my strongest memories of him was him selling poppies for Memorial Day)
Boys: -Theodore (nn Theo) (again, after my grandfather) -George (nn Geordie) (after husbands grandfather) -Charles (Charlie) I like this one, but it's gotten SUPER popular in our area
I feel like a boy will almost definitely wind up being Theodore George...unless my sister has a boy and decides to use Theodore.
@ChristineVW Seems like you have the right attitude about a family pregnancy at the same time. If the moms aren't chill about possible overlap, things can get dicey.
When my mom was pregnant with my brother (her first kid), my aunt (her sister) was also pregnant (also her first). Both were due in December. My mom's due date was before Christmas, but the baby was late. My cousin was born before Christmas and my aunt named him after their dad. My mom spent Christmas all pissed off because my aunt had used a name she was considering. They are both still a little bitter about how that Christmas went and the kids are 35. It's sort of ridiculous.
Soo at first I was making my name list before we even found out we were expecting. Then we decided that since this is our last child we would do things differently. We knew what we were having with our first and named him once we found out. With my daughter we were team green and just had two names ready. With this one we are going team green again but have decided not to name our LO until we see him or her! I'm sure our family will think we're nuts! LOL.
DD is Lucille (Lucy) Marie, after my grandmothers and mother.
Boy names we have: Charles (Charlie) Oscar, after DH's dad and my grandfather. Or William (Liam) Joseph, Williams is my maiden name and Joseph after my dad.
Girls names we aren't as set on: Charlotte (Charlie) or Claire.
Souptin Alice is on our girl list, too! It's my husband's Aunt's name who was never able to have children. I think it's a simple and classic name.
BecauseLove I love Soren! I never hear it. It's part of my maiden name, so we've discussed it. My husband is leaning towards a more traditional name, but we may end up with Soren as the middle name!
Names are a hard discussion this go around. I remember with DS it was tough, but I felt like DH and I agreed a lot more and had a lot more initial ideas.
DS is Maximus Evander.
For a boy, he loves Tiberius and Felix, while I love Ezra and William.
For a girl, he likes Emory, Marjorie or Margot, and I am loving "Ella" names like Eleanor, Eloise or Elowen. Another fave of mine is Aveline.
Middle name will likely be Clare, after the county in Ireland where my family is from, and our favorite place DH and I have been.
I kinda feel like naming this kid is gonna take right up til the last second.
We're team green, and don't plan to pick one boy's name and one girl's name, but plan to have a few options for each and decide when we meet our LO. We probably won't share them with friends/family, because we don't want to hear everyone's opinions, but I'll share here for fun!
For a boy, our front runner is Charlie. My DH and Dad's name is Charles, but DH goes by middle name. Middle names are definitely more tricky. I like Rowan, which is Irish and means red, and LO could be a redhead like DH. I also like Finn for the MN.
For a girl, our front runner is Nora. Middle names I like for that are Kate, Jane, or Rose.
We're definitely a fan of classic names, but I also don't want them to be surrounded by kids with the same names, so it's a fine line there.
What to name this LO has been a hot topic lately! DD is Desiree Lynn (My mn is Lynn) DS is Paul James Jr. (after my ex) So we finally settled on names last week! For a girl, her name will be: Alixandrah Diane--NN: Allie or Alix (Alix for my friend who just passed, the RAH part for my best friend TamaRAH, and the Diane for my bestfriend/god-mother of the baby, it's her mn) For a boy, we decided on: Alixandrew we haven't settled on a MN yet, --NN:Alix or Drew (Alix for the friend who passed, and the Andrew part for his deceased brother. DH relented and let me run the boy names together and now he even likes it lol! But we aren't sure if we would do a MN or not?
I love reading everyone's name ideas! So far, for a boy we are looking at either Desmond or Arthur. MN James or Thomas. For a girl, Iris Elizabeth, Pheobe Ann, or Willa Rose. DS is Theodore Robert.
Re: Anyone thinking names yet?

Thanks, I love the meaning behind it. I guess I should state it doesn't have to be the middle name, it can be the first name or whatever.

We had a hard time deciding with DS our criteria was: no more than 2 syllables, not super common but not outrageous and we must be ok with any possible nicknames. We ended up picking Cole. A close second was Evan which will be on the table again.
For girls I like Alice and hubs likes lauren/ laura
sawyer, Weston, Colton for a boy. He may want to use his name(Jeffrey) I'm not sold..
Hoping for another girl
Girls: Daisy, Eleanor, Reece
DH hasn't heard any of these names yet and he not ready to talk about it so we'll see if I get to keep any of them!

For a boy I like William (nn Will) right now. My GP name is Maximilian, which I know will never happen! DH and I haven't really discussed it yet but we like classic names and popularity isn't really a factor. Good thing we have lots of time!

I don't know where to begin with this one. SO hasn't given me much feedback. I plan to also choose an uncommon name but I don't want it to be outrageous.
Boy Name is set: Jeffrey Larson (call him Lars)( Jeffrey after my dad that passed away and then the same initials as my hubby)
Girl Name: I love Quinn. I just can't find a MN for it. I really love Quinn James but hubby is not on board with boy names for girls. Others I like: Caroline, Hadley, Wren. I like Karlee only because it would be a mix of my dad & hubby's MN, I just don't love that name LOL

For a girl this time around we will use Rose or Ann as middle names and for first names we like:
Eleanor (probably won't use since we already have an E name)
Charlotte
Olivia
Stepson is Aidan Riley (Riley after my husband's father). I normally love super Irish names, but I'm just not feeling it right now.
Girls:
-Mary (husband is descended from the Stuarts, as in Mary Queen of Scots)
-Elsie (middle names of my grandmother and favorite aunt, first name of my great grandmother)
-Theodora (nn Teddy) (my grandfather who passed away over Thanksgiving was Theodore)
-Poppy (again after my grandfather, we all called him Poppy, and one of my strongest memories of him was him selling poppies for Memorial Day)
Boys:
-Theodore (nn Theo) (again, after my grandfather)
-George (nn Geordie) (after husbands grandfather)
-Charles (Charlie) I like this one, but it's gotten SUPER popular in our area
I feel like a boy will almost definitely wind up being Theodore George...unless my sister has a boy and decides to use Theodore.
Edit: spelling is hard.

Boy names we have:
Charles (Charlie) Oscar, after DH's dad and my grandfather.
Or
William (Liam) Joseph, Williams is my maiden name and Joseph after my dad.
Girls names we aren't as set on:
Charlotte (Charlie) or Claire.
BecauseLove I love Soren! I never hear it. It's part of my maiden name, so we've discussed it. My husband is leaning towards a more traditional name, but we may end up with Soren as the middle name!
