@slaven - Hugs hugs hugs for CD1. Question/sidebar: Have you ever tried a menstrual cup? I feel a lot more secure using one v. a tampon. Plus it has to be changed less often and doesn't involve putting chemicals into your body. FX you don't need one moving forward, but just in case, it might be something to look into. ETA: Sorry, that sounded really preachy. I'm just trying to help and I know a lot of women don't even know they exist.

    ----------

So if I put my temps in at 1/10th a degree instead of 1/100th, I'd have CH this morning. But just to be sure, I'll hang out here one more day.

    Month/Cycle: 4/3

    CD: 17

WAYDTGKU: HIO EOD, PNV, CM, BBT, etc.

R/R: I was very annoyed at no CH this morning. Oh well. Can't win them all. I'm just glad my chart is making more sense. Oh, and it's Friday!

CS/Q: Not today :) Thanks for the help yesterday everyone!

GTKY: If they're as thick as pants and I can't see your underwear line or camel toe, then I don't have a problem with it. Personally, I only do it when I'm running errands or lazing about the house.

Hello ladies, sorry for any CD1s and sucky, never-ending AFs.

I just wanted to jump in to second @LoveInDC's suggestion... For everyone, not just @slaven! The first time I read about menstrual cups my knee jerk reaction was "that's disgusting."  I slowly came around and finally got curious enough to just buy one. I love it and will never go back! I'll refrain from hijacking this thread and putting in a whole bunch of unrequested extra info, but will just say that I think they're great for a number of reasons. ;)

Edit: somehow an extra word snuck in there.

    WAYDTGKU: all the things

R/R: my RE said you call if I get a positive opk which I did this morning, but now that I think about it I think they don't want me to trigger if I get a positive because they think I'll O on my own which I never do and even if I trigger today my follies won't be big enough since they were only 11 and 12 on Wednesday. Im gonna get some clarification when I call but I'm thinking about asking for another u/s around me today for my peace of mind.

    CS/Q:

GTKY: Do you think leggings are pants/can be worn in public as pants?  Yes, if everything is covered and you are not wearing them 2 sizes too small

Also: I wanna jump on the band wagon here and back up what @LoveInDC said. I LOVE my menstrual cup. At first, I thought it was gross and weird and how/why would you shove that up there, but I noticed I would have a heavy flow and when I would put a tampon in it would almost stop until I took it out and then blood everywhere because I wouldn't put one back in thinking af was gone. My cup has definitely helped with that.

  • @adirat. GL today!  Did they tell you to test prior?  I'm pretty sure they tested me at the office when I got there.... but anywho.  Deep breaths.  Thinking happy thoughts for you today!  ❤
  • @BertieMeetsGertie I saw lots of appetizer ideas on fb from that "tasty" website...also, if it's something you may be drinking at those alcohol soaked cherries or something may be a hit.....Im selfishly suggesting the cherries because I've been dying to make them but have had no where to make them for and want to live vicariously through someone. Lol

  • @BusinessWife Thanks! I'm pretty anxious about it :( Still breathing. My RE did an hcg test as part of my CD2/3 bloodwork to confirm no pregnancy as they require you not to be pregnant. But of course I was like "what if I am a speshul snoflayke" and tested today also.

Sorry, I failed at not hijacking! @adirat, that's interesting, my OB and RE suspect that I may have endometriosis though it is unconfirmed. I've never heard that you shouldn't use them if you have endo, but I have heard the debate about them causing it. My symptoms way predate my use of menstrual cups, so I didn't think much of it. If you don't mind me asking, what was your gyno's reasoning?

  • @zwink1 If you accept the theory of retrograde menstruation causing endometriosis, then anything that impedes downward flow could aggravate the condition. For menstrual cups, you may risk overflow (just like with tampons) that backs up menstruation or if the cup is installed at the wrong angle you may be blocking things back into the tubes. Basically it's a better safe than sorry situation. If I'm at home on my heaviest days of flow, I don't use tampons either. I don't think it's a huge concern but it's something she suggested I not risk.

R/R: Friday!!!  Going to try to duck out of work a little early and then we are headed up north to go skiing with friends this week. Believe it or not, northern Arizona has some pretty awesome skiing.

CS/Q: FF gave me dotted cross hairs for CD 13 this morning. It doesn't feel right though. I'd maybe believe yesterday... I'll probably hang out here a little longer.

GTKY: Do you think leggings are pants/can be worn in public as pants?
Sometimes. Like others said, if things are covered and/or can still be left to the imagination I'm OK with it. I'll usually only do it for gym/jogging, around the house, or going for a pedicure.

@jess0211 I might have missed this, but can I ask what's YH's surgery?
  • @jess0211 - I've only ever used Diva Cup, but I actually had this conversation in another group I'm in. It looks like Diva Cup is the sturdiest, but can be too stiff for first time users. Blossom is much softer and seems to be a popular brand. Lady Cup is a euro brand that everyone raves about, but it's hard to get for cheap if you need to ship it overseas. There is no right answer for everyone, so give one a try and if it doesn't work, don't discount cups as a whole. Keep trying :) Also, remember that you can cut the stem if that's the uncomfortable part for you. There are tons of YouTube videos and online advice for using them, so no shame in research! Alright /rant lol

CS/Q: small temp spike today is feeding my irrational worry that I will O before we can do an IUI, but OPK was neg and I have not had any fertile CM so I am trying to calm the BSC.

GTKY: Do you think leggings are pants/can be worn in public as pants? I'm with the other ladies that yes as long as the Band V are covered. also please make sure they are not see through!

@slaven sorry for CD1 hugs, wine and chocolate
@loveindc @zwink1 and @kaitlink33 I am with you ladies I love my menstrual cup! it is so easy and way less messy, I don't think I will ever go back to tampons

  • @jess0211 I wouldn't worry about leakage. I always have a problem with leakage with tampons I mean constantly worried about it, but I haven't had an issue with my cup so far. It fits snug in there so nothing gets around it. They are a little uncomfortable the first few times, but it gets easier. Also, I would go ahead and buy the diva wash they recommend to wash it with because they also say you can use mild, unscented soap which is what I did the first time and never again. I went right away and bought the diva wash for my next cycle because I got a bad yeast infection the first time (not sure if it was the soap or what), but I haven't had one since using the diva wash so who knows.

GTKY: Do you think leggings are pants/can be worn in public as pants? Meh. If your shirts long enough and they're thick enough that I can't see what colour your underwear is, I'm okay with it.

EAT: @slaven My first period off birth control I had the same thing and was actually convinced I was dying. I made H take me to the doctor real quick and my doctor laughed at me :(  She said if it happened for more than 4 hours in a row, come back.

  • @jess0211 - It's going to be scary for the first few times. Just remember:
    1. If you can feel the cup after you put it in, it is not in there right.
    2. If the cup has a suction seal (aka, doesn't return to its shape inside of you), it is not in there right.
    3. You can always wear a panty liner or thin pad until you're more comfortable.
    4. You can always take it out and put it back in if you're worried. It's not a one use thing!
The biggest question new users have is "How do I use a public bathroom?"
    1. If you have to pee, do that first.
    2. Take the cup out and empty it.
    3. Wipe the cup down with toilet paper, wrap it in clean paper, and set aside on a level surface.
    4. Wipe yourself down.
    5. Unwrap the cup and discard the toilet paper into the toilet.
    6. Flush.
    7. Put your cup back in.
    8. Exit the stall and wash your hands.
