Yes @pshaortao!! I am in So Cal where the summers get very hot and I was still comfortable. Just remember, that it is a wrap, so you will be a bit more covered than say with and Ergo so it may be a little warmer. But it is very thin, I love it! And $45 is a good price, I don't even think they are that low when I've bought them on sale from their site.
I love this board! Thank you all for your thoughts on the different carriers! I had the boba on our registry, but after looking at the k'tan breeze, I added it instead! It looks much simpler to put on and not have to worry about extra fabric. I'm hoping H will be able to use it as well...might have to get a bigger one for him though. We live in SWFL and it is hot ALL. THE. TIME. here, so I wanted to get something that wouldn't be too hot!
I'm liking the idea of putting one of the ergos on a Christmas gift as it seems like it might be a little better once baby gets bigger.

@achays11 thanks! I also consulted with another friend who has babyworn all 3 of her sweet boys and she also confirmed the solle was a better choice. She also said its nice to have more options with it than the ktan and its still very breathable. So my mom went ahead and got the one for $45. I cant wait until March when she visits again so I can start practicing! It's a lovely dark grey with tiny polka dots
We're going to try the K'tan Breeze and Ergo 306, think I may try Solly as well. Tula just doesn't appeal to me for some reason?? IDK.
Question for current/ previous baby wearers: How is it on your back/ shoulders? A big part of the reason I want to baby wear is so I don't have to carry a car seat in places where a stroller isn't practical. I have scoliosis and a painful shoulder and back though. Just wondering if it's going to be awful.
I am also loving this thread as I expect to do a lot more Baby wearing with baby#2 than I did with DD. We used an infantino carrier with her and I can easily count the times we used it on one hand. I have recently purchased the ergo with infant insert, but in reading the manual neither of these should get wet.
Does anyone have suggestions for carriers that are okay to take in the water? We have a boba wrap, but again I'm concerned all of the fabric will become heavy if wet.

I have a shitty shoulder thanks to two surgeries and the obtuse answer is with proper fit and adjustment it should work. For me it was kind of like a hiking pack, get the weight distributed more across your hips and chest and your back and shoulders shouldn't be doing too much work. Also keep adjusting until it feels right, sometimes with extended wear you may need to tweak things. I found soft structured carriers like ergo, Tula, lillebaby etc leant themselves to this much easier than wraps and slings.
Love reading through these recs! I have an Ergo 360 (and infant insert) that I just never liked using with my DS. I also have a K'tan that I originally bought in a medium, felt like it was a little too big so bought a 2nd in a small, then felt that one was too small. IDK...maybe I just didn't give it a fair shot. I ended up buying a Bjorn which I LOVED, so will use that one again, but I'm on the hunt for a new soft carrier for around the house. I just can't deal with how complicated they all seem...sleep deprived me has very little patience for things that require more than 2 steps, lol...

The Ergo is very padded an never bothers my shoulders, now depending on the kiddos weight I can definitely feel it in my back after long term use.
@nda_roxybabe I agree, Tula doesn't appeal to me much. We did some major digging around this weekend, and I read other boards as well as this one, and then watched youtube reviews. Here's where I'm at: Tula and Lillebaby seem nice, but too trendy, I don't like the lack of pockets on Tula, and on some youtube reviews Tula runs too big for tiny people (DH and I are under 5'2".) We tried Lillebaby on and it felt gigantic all cinched up. Boba SSC on youtube reviews was considered better sized for smaller frames, and all the reviews we read rave about it. For the sling, we're going with K'Tan Breeze, because it gets HOT here (NC) and I want a sling that's easy to put on and off. I can't wait to wear my baby!
For those considering the K'tan- just know that unless your DH is similiar sizing to you, it's not really one that you can switch back and forth wearing. It needs to be very form fitting. I think they even recommend sizing down if your in between their size charts. It's fabric, so after a couple weeks of wear, it does stretch out but you simply put it in the wash for it to reform. So I can imagine if you let your DH wear it that it would stretch out. For reference, I'm 5'8 and about 125-130 pre-baby and the size Small fits me perfectly!
@Kipperoo You definitely have to go with the smaller size than what you think for the K'tan, it feels slightly tight at first but stretches pretty easily! Tighter for me felt better as I felt like baby was more secure.

Yes, the medium felt SO loose, I thought the little guy was going to fall out. I think I need to give the small a fair shot because I didn't realize it would stretch out. I think I was a little too sleep deprived to give much of anything a fair shot in those early days...lol...

I, too had the small and once I put baby in, it was so tight he started crying. DH was like, take him out. So I gave it away and bought a cheap structured carrier to try (infantino) and he loved it. Wish I splurged and got a better one because after an hour my back was so sore.
I was concerned the sizing that Amazon listed for the K'tan might be too small, so I found this helpful for confirmation (it was right). https://www.babyktan.com/sizing

Yes, SIL said their sizing is a little off. I'm going to go with an XS and none for H. I want the Ergo (with newborn insert) for him primarily and then I suppose me too as baby gets bigger.

This will sound totally creepy, but from your HDBD pictures, I would recommend the XS for you too lol

LOL! I used to be crazy skinny, I'm less so in the past few years, but I've got narrow shoulders and small chest (please BF-ing change that!).
I had a similar experience to @Kipperoo with the K'tan. I started with a small and then got an extra small and I couldn't get either to work (I tried too). Just a word of warning for those considering the K'tan, I have heard that some people are just in between sizes and can't get it to work quite right.
There's actually a pretty good sale going on for retiring prints on tula's website. I got my tula and infant insert last month when they were doing their 30% off sale. I also like the fact that they re-sell much better. I don't intend to wear more than 2 years so if I can sell it and get some money back that would be great. Last time my son hated the carrier and I picked up a used baby bjorn at the consignment for like $30 and we used it like 4 times at ball games. This time around this kid is going in it whether he likes it or not!
This may have already been asked somewhere, in which case I apologize, but re: the K'tan- is the Breeze significantly cooler than the original? I have an original and love it, but DS was a November baby, so I never worried about him getting hot. I'm in the Midwest, so not exactly a tropical location, but summers do get rather toasty. Would it be worth getting a Breeze or would the regular K'tan work? I also have an Ergo for when the little dude gets bigger.

@kayemjay2 I asked that same question a while back in some random thread. I think the general consensus I got was that yes, it is cooler and would be worth it if you're worried about being too warm. I definitely plan on doing the breeze and the Ergo "cool" for here in Phoenix. SIL has the regular, started using it for her November baby and said it was a little toasty (it was still in the 80/90s here in Nov).
@nda_roxybabe - Sweet, thanks. I was leaning towards getting one, since I plan to spend a lot of time outside with the boys this summer. I'll now peruse eBay for a well priced Breeze

I used the Moby and regular Ergo for my October baby. The Moby was pretty warm, but I never noticed that the Ergo was overly hot. We used the Ergo through the first summer and until DD was almost 1. I just bought the regular K'Tan on that sale yesterday. If it's too warm, I'll see about picking one up used from a swap site.
@kayemjay2 I have the Breeze and think it definitely helped. I used it in Arizona and Texas summers. The Breeze is actually really nice because half of it is mesh and the other half is the regular cotton. So you can turn the fabric to the side you want/need!

@jayandaplus I have 2 cheaper ring slings and they are not as comfortable as my other carriers/wrap. I would love to buy a Pavo ring sling (or wrap) but I have a feeling DH will flip if a new carrier randomly shows up of that price. I also have a Maya ring sling that is a little nicer and would really consider buying another in a larger size since the one I have is a small.
I've got a question for you all. Most of the carriers I'm familiar with (we have the ergo 360 and the k'tan) go over both shoulders, at least in the super squishy newborn stage. I'll be having a mastectomy 3-4 weeks before this LO is born and I don't know if I'll be able to wear anything over my left shoulder for a while. Does anyone have any recommendations for carriers that go over one shoulder only?

I think a lot of the ring slings and things like the Peanut only do one shoulder.
@RainyDays86 - We used a ring sling for a short while when DS was little, which goes over one shoulder. This is the one we have , but there are tons of other brands that are a similar style.

@kayemjay2 I've never had a Ktan, but love my Solly Baby! I can't say enough good things about it. I live in So Cal where it gets very warm and I never had an issue.
Per @jayandaplus 's recommendation, I was watching a few ring sling videos. The first one I watched months ago was basically how to set up the ring sling the first time, and it involved the woman carefully smoothing the fabric over the ring to make sure there wasn't any overlap. I found myself thinking...I don't want to do that every time. But watching a few more videos, it seems like once the ring sling is "put together", you don't have to undo it every time; you just loosen/tighten it. Is this correct?

Yep it was like $104 for the carrier and like $20 for the insert. Not a bad deal at all.....

See above. My friend lives in texas and is a babywearing nerd. She had both the ktan breeze and the solle and favored the solle.
