This is more "making life easier at 6am" now, but this is the tub of clothes I just purged from my closet that I have no hope of fitting into for the next year at least. My closet is still plenty full, as I never effectively switched out my winter work clothes yet and I had forgotten so many! Most probably only have a few more weeks of usefulness, but hopefully I can slow down buying crap!
@GlitterFish I actually purged my closet within a few days of knowing I was pregnant. I knew it was going to really bother me when I couldn't fit into my clothes and I didn't need the constant reminder, so anything that wasn't stretchy/big/flowy and I would have no chance of fitting into once I started rounding out went in the box. Two boxes to be exact.

@kerils I started buying new stuff immediately, but skipped the purging step! I really havent gained much yet at all since my BFP, but I have most definitely gained since last winter - oops!
Highly monitored internet and no cell service in the office, so I'm postin' and ghostin' while I'm workin'
I'm not a hoarder but I did have a lot of skimpy tops and underwear that is getting old needed to get thrown out, I did have a nervous breakdown thinking about all the things I have to do and all the things I have to get rid of (I realized I have a million crop tops that I won't be wearing anytime soon) and then I got sad and went to sleep. So much for organizing. im generally pretty organized and always cleaning but I just don't want to do anything anymore.its my phone and food these days. That's it my husband wants to move (we find Fairfax, VA really boring) so I'm not sure I can decorate anything yet (especially since I'm in a rental condo)
i did throw away a lot of things now that I think about it
it's the same for me ditto husband uses the closet for his study area and I only cleared my own closet lol @Cynth0104
Add me to the list of those planning to move before the baby comes! Not looking forward to the stress of moving - and lord knows I'll be useless at the heavy lifting - but excited about the idea of planning a nursery from scratch. (Not that I have any idea what I'm doing...)
@GlitterFish that is all I have done! I need to rearrange our bedroom suite. We have an outer bedroom and an inner bedroom, where we'll put baby. Right now inner room has two dressers and a corner shelf, outer bedroom has our bed and a tall table with bar chairs. I think we need to move the table/chairs elsewhere and put at least one dresser in the outer bedroom.
We're going with turquoise/grey, regardless of the baby's sex.
I'm always "nesting", whether I'm pregnant or not haha. It's my OCD! Always purging the closet, the cupboards, the toy box. Deep cleaned the bathroom yesterday, rearranged baby's room and cleaned out the closet over the weekend. It takes A LOT to hold onto a minimalist lifestyle when you have a semi-hoarding husband and married into a huge family that's always trying to give you stuff!
It wasn't in my house, but I spent a good 6 hours today finishing my baby registry. Found some seriously adorable things that I can't wait to own, and then I was looking into some cute toys and started an Amazon list for when baby gets old enough to play with them. There was this barn set that I just LOVED but of course it's gonna be awhile until baby can have it because small parts.

@cssme13 I totally agree about the gray and aqua! However, DH says if I do one more gray room it's gonna be 50 shades up in here
My entire house is grey and navy, and if this baby is a boy his room will be the same thing! It's my favorite and I will make no apologies lol. I'm almost hoping for a girl just to brighten things up around here.

Want to come to my house?! Ha! I also love deep cleaning but I really should do it more often!
Oh, I love organizing! It's just who I am, and I've learned to accept it. Seriously, I've already started Christmas shopping for next year. I may have a sickness.
Im dying to nest, but I'm trying to hold off for a bit. I did go through my closet and bought a few maternity items, but I don't want to buy too much since I don't really know what I'll need. Since baby comes in the summer, I may be most comfortable in old race shirts and running shorts anyway.
I also havent completely decided what I want for the nursery. I'm seeing a quilt for baby that has a puzzle piece pattern that I may run with, but I don't want to start buying things until I have a good plan.
Also, where is a good place to start a registry? Amazon or Baby's R Us?
@JulyBaby17 I have a registry for both. Some of my family are internet averse, so I needed a store registry, but really most of the stuff I wanted was online, and I found pretty much everything through Amazon. I did most of the furniture through Babies R Us and then the clothing and bedding and accessory stuff through Amazon.

Thank you for your answer. Both may be the best plan.
I wish! Okay plan one if we are still in this house is to share our large master with us in his own corner. Adding a glider to the sitting area and moving things around a bit. If we move, there will be a nursery. The girls (3,7) have begged to share a room with the baby and even though our oldest is off to college this next fall he will still have a space at home.
@JulyBaby17 With my first I had an Amazon registry just for me and a Target one. BRU or BBB are both great places to create a registry. Most places will send a coupon to complete your registry closer to your due date. The only thing I can't stand is when people register everywhere but register for the same things.
I have no extra energy to get anything ready. Not doing a nursery. Gonna set up an area in our bedroom for a while. Then move the crib into the room with our other child.
We are hoping to move our 18 month old son into our 3 year olds room, debating between keeping the 3 year old current bed that has 2 smaller mattresses and just throwing one on the floor for a while or getting good bunk beds. Our 18 month old daughter will be sharing the bigger bed room (our twins room now) with new baby. Originally I wanted all 3 big Kids in the big room baby in 3 year olds smaller room but 3 year old is dead set on keeping his room and wants to share with his brother. Our daughter sleeps like a rock and falls asleep regardless of noise/light so hopefully it will work. As I started purging I realized the revised set up will probably work better. The twins have a nautical theme so their decor will work if it's a boy or girl.

I'm not sure of their policy this year, but in 2015, Target didn't send completion coupons until two weeks AFTER the due date that you put on your registry. Kinda dumb if you ask me, but hopefully they have come to their senses and send the coupons before most babies arrive.
We haven't started anything yet, but DH did ask me if we can buy the paint next month to paint the baby's room. I put us on a strict budget so we can pay things down before the baby comes, so he asks well in advance LOL He's more on the ball than I am! He also is working to get the windows replaced in the baby's room because they're original to the house and pretty drafty. I'm impressed by how motivated he is. Go team!
If this baby is a boy, I'm loving the idea of sharing rooms with my 16 month old! Plus, new LO would be in our room in a basket by the bed until almost a year old! If I have learned one thing from being a STM it's don't worry about the nursery, baby doesn't need care. LOL
I love this dresser, granted it was just I the video where the twins pulled it over, but it was empty and not secured to the wall. The space is amazing and height worked perfectly for us. Ours is secured to the wall, DH reinforced it this weekend with 2 more straps bc they will be moving to toddler beds soon and I was all hormone crazy.
I should not have read this thread. I just got so stressed out thinking about all that needs to be done and the thought of needing energy to do it makes me anxious.
We have 2 extra rooms right now. One is the office and the other is going to be the baby's room. Both currently have way too much junk in it and both closets have our clothes in it. Currently the baby room is also storing our Christmas boxes until they make their way to the attic.
The actual "master" was my roommate's bedroom, so he had me paint it gray, and I could live with not repainting it, as we were planning on gray for the boy's room. The room is bordered by bathroom (toilet wall) and living room, and has a ground floor window at the front of the house. If it's truly bigger, it's maybe by a few inches, and the layout of the closet doors slightly more awkward.
Our bedroom was always my room, painted lavender, so would need to be repainted. Bordered by my office and shower wall of bathroom. Faces the back of the house (south) with a second story window. Neighbors deck is right outside side window, and they smoke there at all hours and have parties and dogs, but may put their house on the market this spring/summer.
We were fully intending to switch rooms with the baby, because (this is going to sound crazy) of the second story window being harder to get into (and sneak out of, although I don't think we will live here that long!)... But now I'm rethinking because of the neighbors and the fall out the window. And because I don't want to paint (shame!).
Any ideas??

@jsweet that sounds pretty. We did mineral water by valspar.
@GlitterFish, will baby be sleeping in your room for first six months or year or whatever's the current recommendation? If so I would stay in the quietest room. If not give the baby the quiet room. We have five bedrooms but since we are going to have him sleep in the room (in a separate sleeper/basinett/bed) we are using the smallest room for the nursery.
@Itsnotyourturn Good question! I really don't know! Is it bad to think "part-time"? DH works nights, so maybe the baby would sleep in our room when it's just me at home. When DH is home (2 of my work nights), he is often up half the night or more, so it makes more sense for him to get the baby and let me sleep...
Highly monitored internet and no cell service in the office, so I'm postin' and ghostin' while I'm workin'
@GlitterFish, no it's not bad, you have to do what's best for your family. The co sleeping thing wasn't something we thought about initially, but it did influence our choice for lo's bedroom.
We're a little bit at a stand still untill 1) we know the sex and 2) FIL comes to get the queen bed that's in the guest room/future nursery right now. Buuuuuut, here's what I'm in love with (sorry if huge) Favorite for girl: Second favorite for girl: Favorite for boy: Second favorite for boy:
Whoops. I don't know how I never saw replies here!
@GlitterFish Yeah - contractors scare me, too. I think we're just going to "be" the contractors ourselves and work with individual plumbers, electricians, etc. It'll be more work, but we can get better prices from individual vendors. @egm2015 WTF? I'd be pissed if I spent that much time with a contractor and never received a quote. We got quotes from all but one. Then again, that "one" was a guy in his 20s just starting his own company. We basically knew the second he walked in the door that my DH knew more about construction than he did! @MrsMaggieMac15 Yay for grey and navy! We repainted our whole house last spring when we moved in (it was ALL beige) and we did a lighter grey in the living rooms, dark grey in both bedrooms and a super dark grey/navy in the dining room and kitchen! Now I just need to figure out a dark grey nursery!
Still haven't made a ton of progress on our end - we basically need to replace our roof before we can get started on the attic reno, which means that I seriously doubt this will get done before baby is here. We will most likely move our office to the basement for the time being to make space for the nursery. But hey, we are finally installing ceiling fans in our master and the future nursery this weekend, so that's something I guess!
@Dcwtada@GlitterFish I never considered Snoopy, either. It was on, like, the last page on BRU. I like it as much as the Nemo one, but DH likes the Nemo one. I figure I'll wait for the AS before I worry about it too much. I may even let DS pick from the two, since it isn't that big of a deal for me either way.
I'm purging our house of things right now in preparation for this summer's move. We're moving when DD2 is 9 weeks old, but we're moving back to our house in the States, so hopefully most of the nursery theme is still intact. She'll be in our room for a while anyway, so I'm not terribly concerned.
We're also planning to renovate a bit when we move back, so I'm occupying myself with floorplans and learning about DIY built-in bookshelves. The boys will be sharing a room when we get back and we're looking at an outer space theme. They'll be 6 & 3.
And I love thesecomforters that my friend showed me but I cringe at the thought of spending that sort of money on bedcoverings. We already have the Ikea Kura bed with the green stars canopy, so I think it would all look great together.
@Xath I adore space anything! And I have been eyeballing that bed for the longest time, but LO is too young still. When he's older, I can't wait because it's great!
Some great ideas here!! We're not very talented home improvement wise so will likely not paint or do any major diy projects. I really want space or dinosaurs as a theme but not sure if husband will get on board with that...
