@FrancesGrace630 my neighbors named their son Bowen last year. They call him Bo. I wasn't sure about it at first but it hasn't grown on me.
DH & I still can't agree on a name.
His pick is Amelia Rose & mine is Evangeline Rose. I really want to get my way!!
Amelia is lovely but just too popular IMO!
WooHoo for Evangeline!! That will be our name if we have a baby girl!!! My grandmother's name was Evangelina so we will name Baby after her. I also wanted Evangeline Rose, but my hubby's 17yo daughter has Rose for a middle name already. We are sort of leaning towards Evangeline Faith, but still not 100%.
Bump! Anyone changed their names? Can't make up their mind? Or newly decided on a name?
DH and I can't agree and switch names every couple weeks! Haha. Currently Claire Elizabeth and Natalie Rose are the top two. So... this baby definitely won't be named till the hospital, when we see her, and figure out which name sticks better!
I love the idea of choosing the name at the hospital. We are for sure settled on our name, Scarlett Irene, but there are so many names I love. Most of them don't sound good with our last name or DH just wasn't on board, but whenever I hear someone else using them I get super excited/slightly jealous haha.
@kjd291 both names are great so you can't go wrong
It was very challenging for DH and I to find a name we both love but I think we've settled on Alexis Rose. Rose is my mom's middle name and she and I would have the same initials (I'm Amber Rae). We like Lexi for a nickname
@Gators&BoSox thanks! We waited till the hospital with DD too-but we're already leaning toward her name. It *is* such a nice way to avoid all the unwelcome name comments!!
Ah, I love the name Scarlett! It's one of my absolute favorites, and I wish it could be a contender for us! my brothers long time girlfriend and first heartbreak... so just couldn't get around that for our family.
My husband is set on the names, but we haven't been telling people.
Benjamin & Lucas.
Benjamin being a nod to my maiden name (started with BEN, so i don't have any relatives by that name either... BONUS) Lucas being a subtle nod to my Grandma, Lucille.
I don't have middle names decided yet. Maybe Benjamin John and Lucas Michael. John as a derivative of his dad's middle name (His dad's name is Waclaw pronounced Vah-suave and his middle name is Jan pronounced Yahn) Michael is my dad's name.
My reservations? Both names are in the top 10 or 20 for boys names in the state of IL, and have been for basically ever. I don't really want them to have the same name as 4 other boys in their class...
I also really love Elliot (Eli) or Harrison (Harry) both are less popular but I haven't sold my husband on either.
Maybe if they come out identical and with red hair I'll name them Fred and George.
We like Luna or Scotlyn for a girl, will decide once she arrives, and if it turns out to be a boy, Quintin Edward! Easier to settle on boy names for some reason since DH has 4 boys already. @direwolfmini I like Benjamin and Elliot, perhaps it might be a good compromise if you pick one and your hubby picks the other? Your DIL has some wicked cool names also haha, try pairing the first names with one of his names in its true pronunciation! How many kids in your boys class will have "Waclaw" as a middle name?! Compromise is always possible!
@silverbulletband That's a good point! We could go with my husband's middle name Wladyslaw Vuh-wad-eh-suave . OK, so I kind of don't want to do that to my kids.
I like Benjamin and Elliot together, the issue is that I think he like Lucas way better, it directly translates to Polish and would be easy for his family... sigh. More to think about!
@silverbulletband I know a little girl named scotlyn. I love that name! I tell her all the time I hadn't heard it before her and I thought it was so unique and awesome.
We are team can't make up our minds. DH says it's up to me..... I thought initially Tyler James but now I'm not sold. We have Tyler James, Max Gabriel, Gavin James, Ethan James and Declan James (DH may have vetoed that one tho) and DH brought Dylan James and Kayden James to the table - not my favorites. We have a 2 syllable last name starting with O'. Sigh DS was so easy - he is a third I'm thinking we will have to decide once he is born.
@korpisar for what it's worth, I think my favorite name from the list is Ethan James-a good mix of syllables with last name too.
@direwolfmini so many ppl say twins must be easier because you can pick two--but I think it makes it so much harder! For what it's worth I think Luke, Ben, Elliot and Harry all go really well as you interchange them so whatever you pick will be adorable! The only combo I don't know if I'd do is Benjamin and Harrison together--just too matchy for me--but I guess even that wouldn't matter if you called them just Ben and Harry.
Still undecided! I think we have gone back to our top 2: Theodore and Cameron. I think we tend to be gravitating toward Theodore (nn Theo) but for some reason don't want to let go of Cameron either. One hesitation for Cameron is we would name a future girl if we have one Carolyn after his grandmother and I'm afraid those two sound too similar. Also Cameron seems to lend itself more as a potential unisex name which I'm not a fan of personally. Having a hard time picking middle names also even though they likely will never use it lol.

So I hadnt posted until now because DH and I have never been able to agree on names for our boys it was so bad that our youngest did not have a name until 4days later right before we left the hospital. We have three boys now and will be having a fourth boy. The oldest one is Kahlil, middle is Aedan and the little one is Micah. I have tried not to stress about names because we still have some time and with our track record I'm not expecting that we will agree. Recently DH texts me and suggests the name Grayson and middle name of Luis becasue that is my fathers name. I kind of like it but I'm not entirely sold. Then I have people put the pressure on me that we have such great names already that we need to make sure this one is great.
I also like Sebastian and Xavier
@direwolfmini I love your names. I so wanted my youngest to be a Lucas biut DH shot that down and I suggested Benjamin this time around and he shot it down as well.
Wow, overwhelming positive response about Scotlyn! We saw it on the back of an 18 wheeler on a road trip once and were like "huh, that's neat for a little girl!" its definitely going to be a choice- I just love the idea of a little girl I can call Scottie! But I also wanted a name that reflected the hope and serenity that moonlight washes over the earth every night- gonna be a hard choice! @pandalily team Theodore here! I love that name! The nickname "Teddy" is too. Flipping. Cute. @korpisar Gavin and Declan or Max are my votes! I have a soft spot for Declan as its Irish and my family is super Irish haha. And Max is just a great name. especially if you go extra and call him Maximillian or Maximus haha
@pandalily could you name him Theodore Cameron? It's a bit of a mouth full but I don't think it's bad depending on your last name. if not, for the reasons you listed I would choose Theodore.
@silverbulletband our last name is very Irish and my repeat c section is scheduled for 3/17 so if I actually make it long I told my hubby Declan is meant to be his name
our little girl is going to be Molly Mae. We were having issues agreeing on a girl name, and my sister actually suggested Molly. When my DH liked it, that's what we went with. So we've been calling her Molly since then!
@direwolfmini - I have a cousin Benjamin....I feel like it's not as popular anymore, but that could just be where we live. Also I love Lucas.
@korpisar I'm team Ethan! You have cute name options, so I think any would be perfect
We finally settled on a name. We have always loved Oscar, it's unusual but we both really love it. We are going with Harrison for the middle name. It is a nod to DH's uncle who passed away after a long illness and who DH was very close to. We are thinking of adding two middle names to give a nod to my family as well. The problem is that my uncle who I am very close to whose name I would like to use, his name is Stanley. And while it can be quirky (and the second of two middle names) I am still on the fence about it. Since we have DH's last name and Harrison as a middle name, I'd really like to get something from my side in there, but there are no good names! Stanley is my uncle and was also my grandfather's name though. Beyond that, we don't have any last names other names in the family that would work for a boy. I have scoured maps, thought of street names, even signed up for a free trial of ancestry.com to try to find something! There's nothing I like. I LOVE Oscar Harrison (one syllable last name starts with R) but not sure about Oscar Harrison Stanley R___.
@mecoats, Molly Mae is a very cute name. I love the cadence. It's like poetry. :-)
@jenny1228, I totally get your family name dilemma. The family name for me is Janetta, the name of my great-grandmother. My grandmother (who I was very close to) and my mom both have variations of the name. I really want to honor my grandmother and continue the tradition, so my little girl's middle name will be Janetta. Problem is, I don't love the name, and it's a hard one to match a first name to. At the moment, we have Ivy (my fav) or Isabelle (DH's choice), but neither is set.
I did find this cool site called baby ancestry (babyancestry.com) that searches your family tree and then lists names in order of how often they show up. It includes links back to the people who have that name so you can see what the association is. You do have to have a Family Search account (free), so I don't know how well it will work for anyone else. It was fun to play with, but unfortunately, DH and I didn't agree on any of the names that popped up from it.
@silverbulletband@Gators&BoSox thank you! We considered Theodore Cameron but it does seem like a mouthful. Our last name is rather plain so it could work. DH really wants to do either Theodore Zane (which I think he just secretly likes Zane because it rhymes with his first name) or Theodore Randal after his father. He's got a good relationship with his father but I'm just not a fan of the name in general so I feel like I'm being selfish when I say no on that one.
@jenny0228 I love that name!! Oscar is our dog's name too but we call him Oskie. We actually gave him a middle name Harold so that was one reason I was also liking Harrison for middle name for our baby since that would give them a similar name haha. I think if you choose to go with a second middle name it would work well since your last name is short.

After weeks of not coming up with a name we could agree on except for the middle name which had to be Rose, we finally settled on a name that my daughter suggested. Not long after she suggested the name I saw that someone else named their daughter this on The Bumps Instagram page that I follow so it made me like the name even more because I didn't know if I was crazy for liking such an uncommon name. This little girl shall be named Winter Rose.
@Lexxilou1986 they are both cute. I think Elise is a name she will find easier to grow into and looks more professional on a resume. Josie sounds more like a nn for Josephine to me even though I know it's its own name. Only thing I can think of as far as associations is Josie and the Pussycats
@Lexxilou1986 that TV show JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS is what i think of. which is not at all bad, its a very cute name! Elise is beautiful too! Josie Elise sounds good together I think! My personal philosophy is if you cant decide between the names, do them both!
@mcdonald-bailey -heart eyes- thats just darn pretty!!!!! You can call her Win for short which is adorable!
As of right now we're making 0 progress with names. So far we've been referring to him as Hamburgerler Thumbellina. I'm starting to think we're not adult enough to be having a baby. Haha. We have a few names that we both don't hate, but nothing either one of us loves. DH likes Henry but I'm eh about it. It's tough though cause so far I don't have a front runner. Stumped.
@Lexxilou1986 my vote is for Elise! It's pretty (my first thought is always Beethoven's fur Elise), professional for the future, no negative associations that I can think of.
