Re: *TW* Diagnosis (updated again)

  • Continuing prayers!  I'm glad your doctor's visits were all so positive, that you seem to have such a great medical team, and especially that baby is looking good!!

  • @RainyDays86 I hesitate to call it great news, but i suppose it the best of a horrible scenario. I'm glad that you're an "unexceptional" case, that's the only time I'd ever want to be called that. I really hope everything works out well and that LO stays safe and healthy throughout. My thoughts are with you, even if I'm not around on here often.

  • Oh I am very happy to hear things are the best of the worst. I'm still thinking of you and all the positive thoughts.
  • I'm happy to hear this! Thinking of you.
  • Hooray for being "unexceptional" as well as ER/PR + and Her-!  I'm also excited that you have a plan in motion.  My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you!
  • I'm so glad to hear that it's the most treatable type, and that you have some great doctors behind your back to get you in remission asap. I mean yeah, getting cancer in the first place has got to suck, but I imagine you can breath just a little bit better knowing all this now. At least I hope that is the case, because I totally gave a big sigh of relief. Big hugs and I will be thinking of you.

And also.. yay for a great A/S! I'm glad baby checked out okay :)

  • I'm so glad you got some reassuring news and that baby is doing well!
  • I'm so glad you got "good" reassuring news. I'm sorry that all this is going on, but it is reassuring that everyone seems to be very positive about the outcome.

Is there any point that they would want to take the baby any earlier to start treatment, or do they plan on letting you go until baby decides?
  • So glad to hear your news is the best case scenario. And that baby looked good on your ultrasound!

  • @bacorrea I see the MFM on Thursday and I think I'll get a better idea of that then. However, my understanding is that babies actually tolerate chemo pretty well after the 1st trimester (which is crazy, I know, but everyone has insisted it is true). Since I'm only 20 weeks the baby isn't ready to come out and won't be for a while, and they don't want to delay treatment until he/she is (that would be at least two months which is way too long to wait for treatment for this fast-growing cancer). My understanding is that they'll keep the baby in as long as he/she is doing ok and do treatment during that time. I do think that many babies whose mothers undergo chemo need to be born a bit early but they're going to keep him/her in as long as he/she is still growing appropriately and doing ok.
  • I'm glad a bit of your stress is relieved. I'm hoping the baby tolerates everything OK and you do too chemo can be so hard on people. Yes if the cancer has spread out to the lymph system you have to get on the treatment immediately so I'm glad your not postponing.
  • I'm glad to hear that you have the most treatable form of breast cancer. I admire your realism and positive outlook in all this. I'm also very glad to hear that you had a good A/S today!

Like others said, I hate to call it great news but I'm so glad it is treatable and baby is doing well!!! • This sounds like the best scenario of a terrible situation! Wishing you the best of luck and a speedy road to full health!
  • I'm glad to hear you got some good news even though it's still very scary! And also glad the baby is fine!
  • @kns1988 took the words out of my mouth. Your attitude and realist stance is inspiring and admirable. Glad you'll have your mom through this as she's been there before (also glad to hear she hasn't had a recurrence). Oncology isn't my nursing specialty but your explanations of your diagnosis and treatment plan were clear and concise... sounds like you have a great grasp of it all and that you're in excellent care. Still sending positive vibes your way.

  • This all sounds like quite good news -- the fact that they are so experienced with pregnant women, the fact that fetuses are shielded so well from chemo, the fact that pregnant women often deal well with chemo, and the fact that there is such a distinct plan that even allows for some breastfeeding! Best of luck through all of this and keep us updated.

  • @RainyDays86 I am so glad you updated us! And that things sound like they are about as positive as can be. I have to say I had no idea pregnant women could receive chemo so that's really great. I think about you often and it sounds like you are going to kick this cancer's ass! It's great to hear that you have a doctor that's so confident and experienced with pregnant patients. Not to mention your positive attitude will get you so far also.  <3  <3
