Re: What My Pregnant Self is Eating (JANUARY)

• @silverbulletband great ideas! I'm all about the cottage cheese now!
• Loading the player...
• @MrsBinPA I just recently discovered apple butter and I am obsessed!! Soo good!

• Never having cottage cheese!?! Sad! It's definitely one of my go-to afternoon snacks this pregnancy!

Ice cream please! And I went through a burger phase but thankfully that seems to have passed because honestly the ice cream and cookies and milk obsession is going to be bad enough when I weigh in next appt haha
• Ill second the cucumbers and cottage cheese with salt and pepper. I grew up eating lots of cottage cheese and it's always been a staple in our house. I also LOVE cottage cheese all over my salad! Or with hard boiled eggs!
• what does cottage cheese taste like? maybe that'll sway me lol
• what does cottage cheese taste like? maybe that'll sway me lol
Umm... hmmm... like cottage cheese. Haha. It's hard to describe! Creamy and salty deliciousness
• lol i guess i should have been more specific.. i wasn't sure if it was salty or sweet or tart. so you answered my question...thanks! :)
• @Gators&BoSox the texture is pleasant to me, but I can see how it would throw someone off for sure if you're already sensitive to texture. You can get the small curd kind which is more the consistency of tapioca pudding! I tried the cucumber salt pepper mixture this weekend and it was really good!
• A bit silly... but if you really want to try it and are thrown by the texture, I've heard of a few ppl blending it.
• So, funny cottage cheese is in the mix. I recently spoke with my insurance company RN (I get a specific RN that checks in), and she suggested cottage cheese, sugar free jello & whipped cream as a snack. This was coming off of the conversation about GD, so those who have GD could potentially eat that too. I have yet to try it, but it will probably be my night time snack!!

Also @MrsBinPA - Apple butter is amazing - my dad is obsessed (he's in WV). I have yet to have it in cottage cheese, but maybe I'll try that too! Sounds yummy.

Before GD - I was a fan of cottage cheese and King syrup (it's thicker than regular maple syrup) mixed together.

• aaaaand I'm back on the milk train... choo choo...
• Hah. Choo choo here too! ;) My fridge looks like a grocery store fridge. I got tired of going for milk so many times in a week that I bought two gallons yesterday and they're currently line down up behind an almost empty one. Last week we went through 3 too! Yikes!!
• Any ideas apart from cottage cheese for low-carb, high protein snacks? Baby is growing too fast, so my dr asked me to cut back on carbs. I'm not sure what to snack on any more!
• Oh man @Gators&BoSox I can't handle the look/texture of cottage cheese either. I dunno why but it freaks me out.

@Happyhiker My worst nightmare right there. Peanut butter on apples? Almonds?

• @happyhiker - nuts, protein bars (but check carb on those too), peanut butter and celery (apples have a lot of carbs too), tuna fish (if you like it).

• I have been obsessed with milk this entire pregnancy. I started buying 2 cartons at a time as well because I kept running out. My iron is running a little low though so now I'm trying to watch my dairy intake (since it blocks the absorption of iron) and it's been such a struggle.
• so my pregnant taste buds decided that bbq tuna tacos sounded good...surprisingly tasty lol
• Thanks @datalover13 and @mecoats! Tuna hadn't occurred to me, though that has to be limited to once or twice a week. I've been loving peanut butter on celery or apples (which I am allowed to eat). Nuts are a good idea too. I've otherwise been snacking on yogurt, cheese, whole fruit and veggies.
• hard boiled eggs are always good @Happyhiker
• Oatmeal cookies totally count as a breakfast food right?? Cuz that's all I've eaten this morning
• So much this: https://www.eatingbirdfood.com/peanut-butter-banana-oatmeal/

I've been having it as my afternoon snack post-workout. It's filling, and gives me energy without being loaded with sugar. And the recommendation for melting coconut oil with peanut butter to drizzle over it... so good!
• @DizzyMom - have you tried almond milk? I find it to be a good substitute for a non-dairy option to use with iron fortified cereals. Not the same, but close!
• @Happyhiker - if you're tired of cheese, but want a salty low carb snack, have you ever tried turkey jerky? Whole Foods or the like has some good options. Another option would be some hummus on veggie sticks.
• I got some apple jacks bc they were on sale and I haven't had them since i was a kid. i think they left out the apple part? these honestly taste like nothing. like flavorless fruit loops :/

No I haven't, good suggestion! I did try chia pudding with coconut milk this week. It was a nice high protein, low sugar sweet snack.

I had a salad for lunch yesterday.... and then an hour later decided I needed pokey sticks from a local place. Basically garlic cheese sticks with extra cheese and herbs. So worth it.
Pokey stick!?!?!? From Gumbys? I miss them so much from my college days.....

edit: I just realized your post was from over 3 weeks ago lol. I was just super excited

• New obsession: cantaloupe. With my other new obsession, cottage cheese. ;)

• @korpisar A place like Gumby's! We had one of those in the town I went to college (it's since closed) but it's basically the same thing at this place. Crap. Now I want them again. There are occasionally perks to living in a semi-college town.

• @datalover13 that's so awesome. I'm jealous - I've been out of college for 13 years (what?!??!) and haven't had them since. I may need to drive 2 hrs away and see if they're still open!
