GTKY: Plastic Surgery

I would normally never bring up a subject like this, but it came up some weeks back on a UO or FFFC thread, and I’m curious, so…

Would you ever consider plastic surgery?  What would you get done?

Have you had plastic surgery before?  Did you like the outcome?  Would you do it again?

Would you never consider have anything done, and think it’s crazy that people do?  Why?

The bottom line for me is no.  I would LOVE to have the breasts I had years ago, before kids, but I don't feel it is worth the risk of surgery.  I'm also afraid of the result not being what I had in mind and having to live with it.  I don't judge those who do have procedures done, though.

    Edited for length.

  • Nope I would never do it (unless medically necessary). It is too expensive and not worth the risks. People should accept the fact that their body is going to change as they age.
  • Nope, not for cosmetic reasons. I'm sticking with the cards I was dealt. I'm never appalled if other people get some modest work done, but it's important just for me and my faith and self-esteem to be okay with the way I was made.
  • I would never do it. But I let my fat hang out and my gray strands show. :)
Haha, same here.  I'm getting a gray streak à la Stacy London :)

I am disappointed that I'm 22 years old and my boobs are already super saggy. However, I wouldn't have plastic surgery. When I was in middle and high school I always swore I would get a nose job because I was constantly teased because of my nose. I'm used to it now, though. I know a girl who graduated a year before me who just got her boobs done a few months ago and she paid like $15,000 for them. The funny thing is she's always complaining about how she's broke and can't afford to move out of her parents' house, yet she got a boob job to "help her career" (she's a realtor).
I had my first baby at 20, and with that pregnancy my boobs got a ton of stretch marks, which was pretty depressing.  The marks faded with time, but my boobs were just never the same again, so I know how you feel; I've felt this way for almost 13 years.  Also, I wanted a nose job while growing up, but I'm so glad I never got one.  I actually like my nose now.  And, wow!  $15k is super expensive!  I thought they were maybe 4-6k.

  • I would absolutely have plastic surgery and have talked with my H about it. I've broken my nose 4 times and basically can't breathe out of one side of it anymore. I'd obviously get my septum fixed too but I'd want to get it to look like it did before I broke it the first time. I'm self conscious of my profile bc of it. If I can ever save the money to get it done then I'd like to (insurance may cover a portion to fix the septum). It'd make me happy to have it done.

Also, if we're dreaming I wouldn't mind having my boobs done. I'm 5'10" and feel like a small C would look good on my frame. I'm a small b now.

I'd like my TATA's done. I've always have super small boobs. I enjoyed my prego size boobs, they weren't that big but big enough that I wouldn't mind having them that size all the time! I don't see myself paying to get them done moneys just not there for us. BUT if we happen to strike it rich one day I would defiantly do it ..

EDIT : Maybe after I'm done having kids a tummy tuck would be nice and lipo in my thighs because they are HUGE now !

  • For the things I cannot recover from with exercise (gigantor boobs) I will get lifted. Everything else is in my own power to fix.
  • I would absolutely do it. I'd like a tummy tuck. If I had the extra money and had help with the kids so I could recover I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Does Botox count? Because I want it. - lots of it. I also consider a boob job. If they can do a very small one. Just enough to fill out my chest a little. Deflated A cup isn't so cute. I have great self-esteem and am very happy with myself. I just would like some slight improvements. :)
I don't think Botox counts; I wouldn't mind some of it in between my eyebrows eventually.  Also, I've had IPL treatments on my face, and I don't think that counts, either.

I had a boob job when I was 21.  I didn't go extremely big and they look natural, a pretty natural.  One of the best decisions I've made for myself.  I was very insecure since I had a curvy figure without boobs.  I was never big at that age, I am 5'4 and I was weighing 130 lbs but I had a nice size butt and thighs so not having any boobs (I'm talking not even an A cup), I was insecure.  I wouldn't change a thing about my decision.

I know the picture doesn't show cleavage or anything, but they aren't extreme, they fit my frame.

The size looks nice on you!

I may do laser lipo after baby #2. My thunder thighs have got to go!!!
This is the only thing I'd do...I hate my thighs! They were all muscle when I played sports but now that I'm lazy they are just fat and gross.
I've never heard of laser lipo!

  • Eh. It's not for me. My grandmother had a lot of plastic surgery in her lifetime, and has always tried to make all her daughters and granddaughters insecure about their looks and bodies. I reached adulthood and said 'screw her, I'm beautiful.' I still struggle with some of the insecurities she projected on to me, but I feel like I have an overall healthy attitude about my looks. However. This baby wrecked my body. If subsequent babies wreck it further and exercise won't fix it, I'll dream about reconstructive tummy surgery. I won't do it. I'll just want to. The stretch marks don't bother me but the hangy skin does.
@CHPhotoMama‌ - good for you for not letting your grandma's negative body image issues affect you, which you would have probably passed on to your daughter. Which reminds me that I forgot to add in my post above: I have two daughters. What kind of example would I be setting if I had that kind of surgery? The media already teaches girls to be insecure and compare their bodies to others; they don't need it from me, too.
I just want to add that the baby obviously would never know the difference if I had my boobs done - but it's my almost 13 year old I would worry about.  There would be no hiding it, and I don't know how I could justify it without sounding like a hypocrite.

  • No, I highly highly doubt it.  If I did, it would be a tummy tuck since it's hard to do anything with flabby skin.  But I've never been a flat stomach girl who wears bikinis so why start now?

  • I found out last summer that my mom had breast implants put in in 1979. She only told me because she fell running and popped one, so was having them removed. You would never have known it (was a small B with, now a small A without).

I'm the opposite, I'm like an F/G and post kids they hang to my waist. Once I'm done BFing and sure we aren't having more babies I'll look at a reduction. They cause me back and neck pain.

  • I haven't yet but I am interested in Botox.

I am also not opposed to a mommy makeover after I am done having kids. There is only so much running/excersizing/diet can do for a girl's stomach skin.

  • I had a breast reduction 14 years ago, they were huge....imagine 4 of your hands cupped together and that was each boob!!!! I am struggling a bit with breast feeding so there are twinges of regret, but I did have super perky boobs for 14 years :). They've just started to head south but I still pass the pencil test. I'd consider surgery, but not sure I know what I'd want. We'll be having another kid hopefully so the body gas a few more strenuous years ahead.

  • I've always been small chested, and have told DH for years that I'd like a subtle boob job. I like my current BF chest... about 34C. If we have extra money in the future, I wouldn't be opposed. He tells me I'm crazy, but I think he wouldn't really mind either ;)
  • Yes I have boobs, and I'm getting them bigger next year. In december I'm getting lip injections. I also want laser for my stretch marks and when I am older, I will get botox/injections as necessary to keep my face youthful.

    Trying to Conceive Ticker
  • So far I've fortunate enough that my tummy and boobs have bounced back pretty well from the pregnancy, but I would totally be OK getting some work done if I had some tummy issues like excess skin and sagging (same for boobs) that I could not get rid of on my own.

  • I'd love to get a boob job. Depends on finances in the future, and if I can loose my baby weight / tone up, as I don't see the point in spending a bunch of money in nice boobs if the rest of my body is a hot mess.
  • I've already told my husband that after baby #2 it's tunmy tuck time. I've always had a stomach, even when I was a size 2 in high school. Genetics. Add a c-section to the mix and my mid section just looks deformed now. For me, a good bra can lift the boobies. But I look forward to buying pants that actually fit around my waist and not below or above it once I get the tuck done.
  • Once we are doing having babies I might get a breast reduction. I was a 34DDD before I got pregnant and at petite 5'2" (on a good day) I have always felt like I look disproportionate and heavier than I am due to my breast size. It doesn't help that I have the flattest ass and narrowest hips around (think they can transplant some of that boob weight???). I also have had a lot of shoulder and back pain as well as migraines since high school due to my breast size.

DH of course is fine with my porn boobs... He said a breast reduction would be like giving nature back a gift.

  • I had a breast reduction 5 years ago ( insurance paid) sadly they just came back within a year :/

When I'm done having kids my ovaries are coming out ( I have PCOS and my mom had ovarian cancer). Along with that- if I can afford it I'm going to basically do what Angelina jolee ( spelling?) did.

I don't want cancer and since my mom had ovarian I'm at high risk for breast and ovarian.

If like a tummy tuck but yeah financially that will never happen
  • I will be having a breast reduction after I finish BFing. Pre-pregnancy size was DD's and they have never gotten any smaller after any of my pregnancies. 5 years ago, my health insurance approved it as medically necessary due to neck and shoulder pain and migraines. DH and I decided to wait until we were done having kids, so next year I will be doing it. I also would consider a nose job. I am horribly self conscious about it. And I also have a feeling it might help me be able to actually be able to breathe through my nose without feeling like I am slowly suffocating.
So I with you on this, I had DDD before pregnancy and am now like an F or G. I am hoping they go back down after BF but they are causing me severe back and neck problems. How did you go about getting them cleared as medically necessary? My mom had hers done for those reasons as well. Still says it was super painful, but I would love to be back down to a C or D.. but once we are done with kids of course.

And before any one thinks its the easy way out, I have been 50 pounds lighter and still had these monsters.

  • Not interested, but I don't judge either.

I have wicked bad body image issues and for me pursuing surgery would just play into my feelings of inadequacy.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • I would, but probably never will. And it would probably be facial things, not boobs, lipo... That said, I have had it done...when I was 6! I had a tumor on my nose, so I had 4 surgeries to remove it. Thank goodness my mom made a plastic surgeon do it, you can't even tell it was ever there!

This. As much as I sat I'd like a tummy tuck and a breast lift, what's happened to my boobs and belly are just the natural result of having children. Aging is also natural. You're not supposed to look 25 when you're 65.

    But, to each her own.

  • Nope I want to age gracefully. If someone else Has it done than good for them, no judgement from me.
  • I am considering some form of weight-loss surgery. If I got this then I may consider surgery for extra skin removal, and possibly boobs depending on what they looked like when all was said and done.

  • I'm pretty open to having it done, if I had the money to do so. It's not something I would ever finance.
I'm all about working my ass off to get myself in shape and then having the mommy make over someday
  • I would get a tummy tuck.
