I'm getting there. I need to wash the little clothes since they were in storage for quite awhile. I have about 38 days until my EDD, but DS was 4 days late. And it's getting harder to work, I was dead by the end of today.
@imalwaysme79 I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. Nothing is ready yet... I'm waiting stupid last minute on a bunch of stuff because it has to be ordered online and I have to make sure someone is home to be able to receive it... second week in January I am going to be scrambling on the interwebz like a mad woman.
As for shit getting real... probably my last meeting with my midwife. She brought up the issue of how I want my labour to go, what medications I am willing to take and pain relief techniques I am open to trying. It was just one of those, "wow, this is actually happening" moments.
Shits been getting real since I've been to the hospital 4x to see if they have to deliver me. Yesterday we were told if I don't deliver this weekend, we should plan to go to L&D first thing Monday morning just in case.
We just brought all the baby equipment up from the basement. PnP, RnP, swing, bouncer, activity mat, infant car seat and two bases...and my house still looks like Christmas threw up everywhere....and I'm on bedrest so I'm just sitting here watching DH rearrange stuff and trying not to be a bossy cow. And I could have a new human sleeping in that PnP in the corner sometime next week. Wha?!
@kjd291 yes on the expiry dates on food!!! Can't believe my yogurt expires Feb 10, and baby is due Feb 2.
Also, I'm down to 3 days/week at work and that leaves me with only 8 work days left.
Lastly, we went swimming a couple times this week (since our toddler's daycare is closed) and a few other moms said to me "I don't think I was ever that big"!
@ohstars, woah! Is that because of high blood pressure/pre-eclampsia?
Yeah, my bp hangs around the gray zone. Bottom numbers are 90s-100s and every once in awhile something like a 5 minute shower will shoot it up over 160/105 but then it comes right back down. So I call and go to L&D for a few hours while my numbers start high but drop off and then I go home.
The thing that really hit me is that from tomorrow, Jan. 2nd onward, I am legally allowed to give birth at my birth center rather than a hospital because my LO wouldn't be considered a preemie and wouldn't need nicu time. I'm not ready! I have 24 days left until my EDD and I feel like I need all of them! I just hope LO takes after her dad by being punctual.

H and I have had a very lazy day. Slept til 8:30, did nothing but watch football. I was feeling very guilty about it until I realized we have, at a maximum, 5 more chances to have Sunday's like this until the kid is old enough for sleep away camp. That's intense.
@Xstatic3333@homemake you'll sleep in again! When DS was little and weaned, H and I would take turns with the early shift/sleeping in Sat and Sun. I know taking turns sleeping in isn't quite the same, but now at age 7, he'll get up an hour before us watch Nickelodeon. Sometimes he even makes himself a bowl of cereal!
@Xstatic3333 You can totally still have lazy days like that! DD always loved to sleep in and snuggle so she has always been happy to climb into our bed and cuddle up if DH and I wanted a snooze- in day. And a day spent watching movies or tv on the couch is as much a treat for her as it is for us. Sometimes we have to compromise on what to watch but our interest in sports has carried over to her and she loves to cheer on our favorite football team.
@mommabean I guess it's more of a personal thing not being able to sleep in. Since I wake with her everyday during the week my internal clock won't let me sleep any later on the weekends!

lol I saw that post too *shudder* y'know, I've never wiped and thought to myself, hmm, let's whip out the old cellular and take a picture to post it for all of the internet to behold. But that's just me.

I think it's smart to savor and enjoy every kid free second you still have left at this point! Don't feel guilty about just lounging around at all. I wouldn't say "your life is over" or "your doomed to never relax again for the rest of enternity" lol but I do see it as your life will literally never be the same again. And it is intense, it's not just a minor change. You seem like you have a very realistic view on how things might change though while still keeping a more positive attitude about it so you're already ten steps ahead anyway!
Tomorrow, I have a call with our probable pediatrician and a prenatal meeting with our doula. Plus, I can finally start my maternity leave paperwork... So, yeah, it's starting to feel just a little more real.
Just had a legit contraction.I made a bigger deal of it then I should have. I am 34 weeks today and that was exactly when contractions started with DD2. I would get them for a couple hours a day and then they'd disappear. She came at 41&1. On the one hand I don't want to deal with 7+ weeks of contractions but on the other- her L&D was awesome and easy.

I know, what is up with the valentines stuff being out so soon? I guess it's the same with every holiday, they can't even give people a chance to enjoy one without starting up with the next. I remember being in Target with my sis grabbing some last minute stocking stuffer gifts for the kids and being shocked to see all the valentines stuff out already. This was a few days before Christmas. Anyway I was probably just panicking because it solidifies that we're all in the home stretch now!

I ordered my breast pump yesterday and finished the paperwork for my STD/FMLA claim. Also packed my hospital bag over the weekend, plus the baby's diaper bag. The only loose ends left are nailing down a pediatrician (we have a meet and greet with a promising candidate on 1/20) and pre-registering at the hospital... Feel like it's all getting close now!
We set up our swing this weekend in the living room. I was getting ready for work this morning, flipped on the light, and saw it; immediately the thought hits me - sometime next month I'm going to have an outside baby in that swing!
I just had my last prenatal appointment with my doula. As she was leaving, I realized the next time I see her, I will be in labour. And then I had to go lie down. Emotions. All the emotions.
