Thanks all! So far I would say that things are pretty boring. They started me with misoprostol orally this morning and I'll have a repeat dose momentarily. Doctor checked me this morning and said cervix was closed, 75% effaced, and-3 station. So, she said to think of today as a preparation day to ripen the cervix and a plan to start pitocin tomorrow if needed. Fine by me, as I want LO to have every possible moment to cook. I'm feeling very minor contractions but nothing too legit yet.
Thanks for all the kind thoughts, I'll keep you ladies posted!
Thanks guys. I dont really have an interesting story. I've been on bedrest at home with mild preeclampsia since 12/21 and bad headaches. The numbers finally went up and stayed up. L&D had me come in for monitoring for the 5th time since my dx, and this time it stuck. After my c section my bp has been nice and low (115/68ish) and never spiked again. My overnight nurse in cahoots with the NICU nurses snuck me in at 6am to hold August for the first time and he is amazing and perfect. ❤
He's doing waaaaaay better than my last 34 weeker. No respiratory assistance needed, no feeding tube, no IV. He's 50th percentile and eating close to 20-30mL every 3 hours from a preemie bottle.
I'm excited that the lactation consultant stopped by and said she would be back tomorrow to talk.
That's great to hear! Im so glad you're both doing so well! He really is so cute in his little picture. That's so awesome they were all sneaky so you could get in there and hold your little guy! Congratulations again
Congratulations @ohstars! So happy for you and August. He's adorable!
As for me, I'm.......still pregnant. A full day of misoprostol led to contractions but not strong ones. Then I was maxed out on pitocin for about 9 hours yesterday. I was having contractions every 1-2 minutes for hours and hours. They were not fall on the floor and forget your name painful, but they hurt. At the end of the day I was all of 1 1/2 cm dilated. So, they stopped the pit overnight because your receptors can get flooded and reduce the effectiveness. I got another dose of misoprostol instead. I think the plan is to start pitocin again this morning. After two full days of non-productive contractions on top of the month of not being able to get out of bed I'm feeling so drained. My whole body is sore and I'm just mentally/emotionally spent, which is not how I want to start "real" labor. I don't know what they'll do if they can't kick start productive labor with the meds today.
@MommaBean Most doctors induce at 34 weeks in the case of ruptured membranes. At that point, the risk of infection or a cord accident is greater than the risk of premature birth. I've struggled with it a little, because everything does seem fine and I really wouldn't even know I was ruptured if not for the one night when it happened, but with infection things change quickly and can be life threatening for both me and the baby.
Congrats @ohstars !! It sounds like mama and baby are doing well, so happy for you and your family!
I'm sorry you're stuck @lemieuxk . I know you are mentally and physically drained but YOU GOT THIS! We are all sending you good vibes and hope you can get some rest.
@lemieuxk hope you can get some rest before things get intense. Your induction thus far sounds very similar to mine with my first--took 3 days on and off of pit swapping with miso before they finally broke my water and DD was here within four hours! The last night, My OB let me stop induction meds, gave me sleeping med instead and let me rest up! Maybe you could ask if that is an option if after today you are still making no real progress? prayers for you!!
