How are you feeling ladies?

Re: Weekly Symptoms - Jan 2

  • I'm having a serious allergy problem... or a cold. I honestly can't tell. I don't feel sick, but who knows. On the plus side, it's gotten rid of my m/s. Can't explain that one either, but I will take this nasal congestion over nausea any day. In truth, I'll take pretty much anything over nausea.

  • @kerils I agree, all other symptoms pretty much pale in comparison to nausea.  Sorry about your allergies though- is there something safe you can take while pregnant for it?

As for me, I have a 'heavy' feeling in my lower pelvic region.  Just like a pulling sensation - reminds of back in the day when I used to do side raises with the big plates.
  • Exhaustion. I feel tired all the time. But can't sleep. And all I want to do is eat crap. Fries mostly. Ugh. I'm 12 weeks today... hoping I start to feel better soon and can start eating less crap!
  • @caribbeanmama Probably, but I don't really take medicine for anything. In fairness, I haven't had problems in a long time with my allergies, but the medicine always wore off and stopped working, and I kept having to switch, so I gave up. If I really need it, I can go find my neti pot and drink some peppermint tea, but for now I'm just dealing. Plus, if there is any chance that it's not just timing (12 weeks,4 days) and being stuffed up is getting rid of my nausea, I don't want to stop it.

  • 14 weeks on Wednesday and definitely feeling relief as far as symptoms go. My pelvis feels really heavy in the morning, and occasionally I have some round ligament pain. My energy has come back for the most part and I've noticed a steep decrease in nausea.
  • 11 weeks and feeling okay still but I'm getting a lot of random pimples and skin tags on my neck, my chest, my back, and I have one right below my eyebrow. What the hell?
  • Headaches, and Tylenol is a joke.
  • I hate food. I want so much to have a big appetite and eat everything but as soon as it comes time to decide what to eat I cannot find anything that even sounds remotely good. I also hate chocolate which is very strange for me and makes me sad.

  • I hate food too but @Cait32 that sounds delicious. I can take it off your hands for you.
  • Headaches have started. Tylenol doesn't help. End of sleeping a lot to try to get rid of it. Cravings are in full force. Ice cream and milkshakes seem to be all I want.
  • @Cait32 I love your cake stand! I've always wanted one.

Found out that my urine culture from my first appointment had a moderate amount of bacteria in it. I don't have any symptoms at all and my OB said that if I wasn't pregnant she wouldn't do anything about it, but we should treat it now because it can be related to preterm labor. Just started a week of Macrobid (I'm 13+2) - wanted to wait until end of first tri so all the organs are done developing, even though Macrobid is safe for pregnancy. Has this happened to anyone else?
  • @Cait32 - You can send that cake to me. :)

Thank the stars that the nausea seems to be gone! I could do without the almost constant headaches, though. I think my energy is starting to come back, which is a good thing since I'll need it for work the next few months.

I also am having a lot of sciatic nerve pain, something I've never had a problem with before. Thanks, baby. ;)

@ashaw512 its sitting in my fridge...DH has two slices. He says he's eating for two, in solidarity.
My husband insists he is drinking for two, since I'm sidelined. Lol

@Cynth0104 I am also dealing with the constant headache that won't go away. Honestly I'll take nausea over this because they are so bad. Tylenol does nothing and when I try to lay down my head just throbs.

This is the first week where I actually feel pregnant. All of the sudden my normal clothes aren't comfortable anymore and I just feel heavy because my stomach is thickening. I don't have much of a bump yet so I just look large. Sigh. I didn't expect how self conscious I'd be at this in-between stage. I ordered some maternity clothes and am going to pick up a few new bras today. Hopefully that will help.
  • @born2runrn I am suffering from severe exhaustion as well. I'm in bed by 8 every night at the latest, but then usually wake up around 12 and it takes me hours to fall back asleep completely. It's so frustrating! I'm 11 weeks + 5 so hopefully this gets better for us soon!

I usually hate sour and gummy candies, or anything tart. But lately I've been craving lemonade and sour patch kids. I've treated myself here and there but usually try to eat a cutie or an orange instead.

I also usually love chocolate but I have no interest. I just finally threw out a ton of Christmas cookies and fudge that various people had given us because my husband doesn't do sweets and I still hadn't touched any of it. I guess the positive is I didn't have my typical holiday weight gain!
  • @cssme13 Same here. My appetite is mostly back, but I still don't want sweets. I'm a chocoholic and always love to make baked goods and eat way too many of them, but since like 4 weeks (before I even knew I was pregnant) I haven't had any interest. Every once in awhile I'll think "hey maybe" but it's never enough to make me actually get it.

  • @Chamomile I had the same exact same thing - bacteria, no other symptoms and had to take Macrobid. I was only 8 weeks and not thrilled about it, but to me the risks of not treating it seemed higher than the risks of taking the antibiotics. When I went back a week later (after stopping the antibiotics) for a repeat culture, the bacteria had cleared up.

  • I'm 13w4d so feeling better for the most part. Still have random bouts of nausea. I have days where I am still utterly exhausted, but not every day.  I'm VERY moody, either crying or being a total bitch. No in between.  Acne is terrible.  My appetite is wonky, some days I want to eat all day long, other days not eat at all or very little.

  • @Cait32  omg that cake. I have been indulging w/o shame (okay, a little bit of shame) so I will take that off your hands.
  • So. Goddamn. Sick. I've had a horrific fever with no voice, a cough with terrible chest pressure this weekend. I had to leave work early last night and leave them so short.

still no symptoms of pregnancy though :D

I'm 11w1d. I am constantly thirsty. All I want to eat is fruit or soup (I assume because I'm thirsty).  I also get leg cramps that are driving me nuts.

I'm still super moody. I've had arguments with senior partners at my firm. Yikes!  DH has to remind me "no going to war at work."  Fx that I don't get fired before the baby comes!
  • Energy is finally coming back, but I have a nasty cold now :(
I am also off work right now because of early swelling.... I'm on my feet for 12 hour shifts so it's hard! Anyone else having swelling already?? Mine started at 11w5d and now I am 13w3d
  • Exhaustion. I feel tired all the time. But can't sleep. And all I want to do is eat crap. Fries mostly. Ugh. I'm 12 weeks today... hoping I start to feel better soon and can start eating less crap!
I finally caved the other week and went to McDonalds and ordered a large fry and a fountain Coke.....worth every calorie!!!! I try not to find happiness in food, ever, but this pregnancy has been a bitch! And I was hungry, dang it! LOL
  • @GreenBean glad to know I'm not alone and very happy that yours cleared right up! Hoping I'll have the same result at my next appointment in 10 days. It's funny because I've had UTIs before but they've never grown this bug, wonder where it came from!
  • @Chamomile I had never had a UTI before so I was surprised. I guess this is just another weird thing that pregnancy can do to our bodies. Hope you have good results with the Macrobid!

  • @Twinkiedoll stop me if you already know this trick: when you feel a charley horse coming on, just stretch your calves, extend your toes up towards you. It stops the cramping almost immediately.
  • @Cynth0104 I have the headache issue too. And I agree that Tylenol is a joke for the most part but it does help *slightly* but more than anything - tons of water is what helps the most for me.

@dancegurl1118 feel better soon! SOunds like you are suffering :( pregnancy plus a cold or whatever is no bueno.

my symptoms are all over the place. I seem to have days where I'm really sick/puking a lot and then I'm totally fine the next day.
i feel some of my energy coming back though so yay!!

  • So. f'ing. tired. 14+1, and getting more tired by the day. And therefore suuuuper agitated. My skin feels so sensitive - I snapped at DH tonight to stop rubbing my hand with his thumb (a really sweet gesture). RLP.

I'm feeling okay.  Boobs are still sore but I think the inevitable entry into second tri is favouring me because I finally have more energy.  I have been stuffed up since September.  The consensus is that it started off as allergies but now is just a pregnancy related symptom.  Regardless, I am beyond fed-up with not being able to breathe and having to eat like a cow at every meal.  *angry*face*  As for cravings ... I'm not even going to admit how many boxes of Cyclones I've gone through over the past week and a half.

My sleep has been disturbed.  At first I was sleeping like the dead.  Now if I wake up in the middle of the night, which I usually do because I can't seem to hold my bladder anymore, I'm up for a solid hour.  I just want to sleep all the way through!  I also have this tendency to curl up in a ball and almost ... tense my entire body?  I wake up dripping in sweat at least once a night and have to change around my blankets although I'm not overly hot.  Gross.

This is WAY tmi but ... here goes. I have developed some ... lumps ... down there!  My friend had a bartholin cyst when she was preggo and I'm so nervous that it might be what I have.  I Google'd and a lot of people had pimple-like bumps but it just doesn't seem like that.  There are 2 and I obviously have never had them before.  They were painless but I feel like that's not much of the case anymore.  My friend told me to soak in a bath of epsom every night to get it to go away.  Anyone else have a similar issue?

  • 11 weeks tomorrow and I still have to force myself to eat. Still so sleepy too :( I can't wait for the second Trimester so I can start to enjoy this pregnancy a little more! Plus my 18 mo is sick so no sleep for mama.

SAME!! Truer words have never been spoken!!! I'm normally a unsweat tea/water girl myself, but I crave a fountain soda when pregnant.

ETa: lmao.....unSWEET tea. Yikes. That's a hell of a nasty autocorrect typo. Ha!!
  • @satsumasandlemons and @Twinkiedoll yes I second stretching your leg before AND during. I use to wake up from them and then I would stretch it. Aren't they caused from dehydration or lack of potassium? I guess it's pregnancy it doesn't matter anyways.

HEADACHES! I woke up with one the other day. dh had to go to work so I let ds play while I laid on the couch. I fell asleep for almost an hour. Luckily our house is pretty well child proofed and our son (2) is good. I've never fallen asleep while he's been awake and alone. My headache was gone thank goodness.

  • Insanely nauseous, smells are killing me, and everything makes me want to vomit. It suuucks. I've only actually vomited maybe a dozen times, but I'm started to feel like the nausea is even worse.

On the bright side, I did manage to get up early and work for 6 hours, so now I can take the afternoon off for errands and playing with my daughter!

    Hang in there mamas.
  • @LoveLee85 I don't drink soda except in pregnancy. Nothing hits the spot like a fountain soda.
I am usually a coffee drinker but the smell makes me vomit (quite literally), so I switched to ice cold coke and it's so refreshing!
  • @Twinkiedoll last pregnancy, my doc prescribed magnesium for leg cramps (tho it's also sold OTC). I started getting them this time, so began taking magnesium daily, and they've stopped. Sorry if this has already been said 100x
  • 12+4 and I was feeling better for a few days and now I feel like GARBAGE: nauseated, dizzy, exhausted, moody, the works. Also, is anyone else very clumsy all the sudden? I've been dropping things right and left.

  • 12+4 and ditto, @leilac, on feeling better for a few days and now feeling like crap again.

I can't sleep through the night, up at 3:30am or 4am every night and can't fall back asleep for hours. My allergies have been on overdrive too, I'm constantly sneezing... make is stop. And food is not enjoyable in the least. I'm usually not hungry or nothing sounds good. I've mostly been eating tater tots, eggs and toast, or cereal with milk and fruit. I've also indulged in a few fountain sodas as well... can't help it, only thing that actually does sound good.

  • @Chamomile me too! I tested positive for white blood cells in my urine and dr prescribed me the same. Except when I got to the pharmacy I got in an argument about my HG meds and forgot about the antibiotic so I never filled it. At my next dr appt *facesmack* I told her I forgot (she gave me a paper prescription when they usually send it electronically) they tested again and it cleared up on its own.  Deep down, I'm glad it worked out that way, I don't really want to take any more pills, so I feel ya.
