Regular OB check-up on Friday. It was suppose to be last week but since she's overbooked all the time.... I'm curious to know if my next appointment will be in 2 weeks as it should be or if I'll have to wait until January to see her again. If the latter, I'll be really pissed and will be making a complaint.
************* First BFP: 12/16/13 EDD: 08/23/14 Baby BOY born: 08/29/14
@concreteangell that's super frustrating, I would complain as well!
@janefelicity Sorry this is an extra stressor you're dealing with but good luck!
We are supposed so be wheeled in to see the MFM today for an ultrasound to take a look at AF. I'm not sure what that will tell us since we know it's almost gone/gone with the membranes being ruptured. Hopefully it's a positive visit, though, and I'm very excited about getting to leave my room for an hour lol
Just getting my Rogam (spelling?) shot tomorrow. Was supposed to be done on Friday but the results from blood work I had done last Monday. I have been to the OB 3 times in less then 2 weeks so I'm hoping we can get on the every two weeks schedule.
I was able to score a 7:30 a.m. ultrasound for tomorrow morning: growth scan and fluid index (because I'm measuring ahead). My mom is planning on meeting me there; so, she'll get to see the LO and add some entertainment to the appointment. They better have a bunch of tissues at the ready.
Weekly growth scan this Wednesday at 30 weeks. I get nervous every time. Always hoping for no complications and to be left alone in my misery for another 7 weeks.
MFM appt this morning to check on baby's kidneys and AFI (Fingers crossed for a good outcome!!!) then regular OB appt. I'm a little bummed because my regular OB cancelled today, so I had to reschedule with a different doctor in the office. Since we move Wednesday, this was going to be my last appt with her to get all records and the final "bon voyage" and follow up from my MFM appt, but now I think this doctor is just gonna be like "Hi, nice to meet you! Well, baby has a pulse! Byyyyye!" Lol oh well... hopefully no bad news that we have to discuss or that would suck!
I was a spechial snowflake this morning, lol. I had a sizing scan @ the OB this morning, and they forgot to schedule the ultrasound tech, so I'm back tomorrow. I measured 32 weeks according to fundal length O.O Now I have a sizing ultrasound tomorrow, next Monday, and next Friday.
Also, had my first monitor hookup, and got super quesy and sweaty just because I was on my back for maybe 10 minutes. Idiot me just laid there with no circulation and didn't realize I could lay on my side. I called for help a few times, and ended up wandering into the hallway to ask someone what was happening. Their response; wow! you're really sweaty. Thanks. Thanks much.
Follow up appt. with the dietitian on Thursday to go over my blood sugar readings from the past two weeks. All of my numbers have been in range so far, but my fasting levels are higher than I would like (still "normal", but I am worried they will go up as the pregnancy goes on). I definitely plan to ask her what happens if (when?) my fasting numbers creep over the acceptable levels.
@Janefelicity honestly, I found I felt much better about the whole GD thing after I met with the dietitian and talked about everything. I hope your class goes well!
I have a midwife appt on Thursday. I'm excited to hear heartbeat! Not excited to let them know that my blood sugars are not getting in control with super strict diet/ exercise. That means I will most likely need to go on meds to keep Baby Betty healthy and I will have to give birth in the hospital for her safety, not be in the birth center. I have a lot of anxiety about hospitals and I'm losing my confidence. I knew I could do a medication free vaginal birth in a birth center. I'm terrified of a hospital birth with a higher risk pregnancy.
I had my 32w appointment this morning. First thing the doctor mentions is at my current weight gain I'll definitely surpass the "normal" range for pregnancy weight, thanks for news flash dude. I started crying just out of sheer emotional exhaustion, then kept on crying as I was hearing the heartbeat but those were happier tears. Cervix is still closed but noticable softer.
@Gretchypoo - IF you end up having to deliver in a hospital, have you considered hiring a doula? It could be a good way to have the type of support you want and need in a setting you are not too thrilled about.
Regular OB checkup tomorrow morning - I'll be 30 weeks this week. @Gretchypoo I second what PP said about maybe looking into a doula as well. I am also hoping for a med free vaginal birth and am doing so in a hospital - and I think we can absolutely do it if we have as much support as possible!
Thanks ladies! I have the names of 4 doulas that came highly recommended by our midwives. One of them is also my Bradley instructor who has been very supportive. The good news is the midwives can come with me to the hospital so I won't be losing my familiar team.
@yogadevil is your doctor just mentioning this casually? I feel like its unnecessary for him to mention because we all gain differently and a lot of us do surpass the "normal" amount. I'm sorry.
@yogadevil is it something your dr. Is concerned about for another reason? Like high blood pressure or GD?
Otherwise, I feel like it shouldn't even be a talking point. I read recently somewhere that almost 50% of women gain over the 25-40 range. I know several ladies that gained way more, had a healthy delivery all around, and then lost it all.
The only helpful conversation I can imagine relating to that would be the potentially uncomfortable effects of more weight. Like, you'd be at higher risk for achey joints, heartburn, hemorrhoids, varicose veins, Charlie horses. But, um, to me that's iffy anyway -- seems like almost all of us get at least some of that.
I feel like you don't need that kind of negativity in your life. Can you let her/him know that it's a sensitive topic for you, that you're eating well and staying active, and that unless there's a direct concern, could he/she not make weight a focal point?
I have a regular appointment this Friday, coupled with another growth scan. Just went to do the glucose screening this morning -- meant to do it earlier...oops!
@homemake he walked in the room and started talking about it before he even sat down. He had mentioned previously that he was concerned at the quickness- I didn't start gaining until about 22 weeks and in the last 10 weeks it's been a very rapid gain, the most being in the past 3 weeks or so. I don't get it, I havnt changed eating habits or activity level, I just keep bloating and bloating. He did tell me some women are just predispositioned to gaining more, and I'd be "fine" as long as I didn't go *too* much over the average amount.
@HeatSparks I failed my one hour but passed my 3 hour for GD, and my blood pressure is 110/70ish. BP has only gone up 10 points in the last month but no one has mentioned if thats a concern or not. It doesn't feel like it is.
He's a very compassionate doctor, and he does know my history with weight sensitivity, I don't feel he was trying to be condescending about it at all. I've just been dealing with some comments friends have made lately so I feel like I'm hyper sensitive no matter what he may have said. I told him I was worried that it was water weight due to the massive swelling in my face and hands and he didn't seem to think it was the water weight. I'm not having issues with mobility or other symptoms beyond what everyone else is going through. He had handed me a kleenex and said he wasn't trying to shame me he just had to bring it up.
Just a regular OB appointment on Friday, but then starts my every two weeks. Eeeekkk!!!
Also, does everyone get growth scans? And is that different than just them doing the measuring tape? So far that has never been mentioned, but I guess that could start coming up this week (I'll be 29 weeks). Now I want one!!
@yogadevil ugh yah it sounds like shitty timing with the commentary and then him saying something too. I have had appointments where I've gained way more than I expected as well. I'm trying so hard not to think about the number and keep reminding myself there's only 9 weeks of gaining left.
Todays appointment was a little overwhelming. I met with 5 different people - a specialist diabetes midwide, the diabetes consultant, the dietician, the head midwife & finally the ob consultant. It was pretty hectic & i was there over 2 hours by the time i got finished up. Because ive not been able to keep my fasting levels below the recommended levels & my after meals levels are within range cause ive cut out carbs it means i need insulin to regulate as i shouldnt be cutting carbs altogether like i have been the past week. So its back to the hospital on thursday again to learn what to do. Also means that if babys sugar levels are low when shes born that i may have to supplement & bottle feed aswell as breast feed. Oh & my babys head is massive which is giving me all the anxiety about a natural delivery!
@leslie1331 I know what you're saying, but trust me that you do not want to need a growth scan. At my practice they are only standard if there are complications or concerns about how the baby is measuring.
@janefelicity Sorry to hear about the frustrating appointment, hope you are able to get things regulated with insulin and go on to have the birth/breastfeeding experience you're hoping for!
My ultrasound went as well as I could have hoped. My fluid is diminished as we would expect, but was still 4.6. I was prepared for the possibility of little or no fluid, so I was okay with it. It was just a quick check but she seemed to be squirming, practicing breathing, and doing all the things she should be. We didn't get to speak to the MFM. Here's to another day, 30+1!
@Janefelicity that sounds like an intense appointment. I'm sorry you have so much to deal with right now! I hope you can find ways to manage your sugar levels so it doesn't seem so stressful
@leslie13510 my growth scan is only happening because of my bmi putting me into a more high risk category. I know it seems fun to get scans and see your baby. But if you don't it means all is going smoothly and there aren't concerns!
FINALLY got a call from the dr office. Only 8hours after I initially called. Passed my sugar test with a 109!! Low iron levels/anemic though so getting a script for twice a day iron. Would explain my extreme exhaustion and lack of motivation though.
Ok, I'll enjoy avoiding growing scans for the time being! I come on here and hear these things then realize I probably should be asking more questions when I'm at the doctor!
Congrats @lct2008!! That was literally my exact score and I had low iron. Word of advice, ask them about stool softeners or other non constipating remedies with the iron. Took me 2 days to feel like utter shit
@leslie1331 yeah I was anemic with both of my other kids too and the adjustment to my body the first week was rough. I definitely have to make sure I chug water.

So that so it will not be a fun conversation
