I'm also having nothing at more than 37 weeks. I don't *think* I've had BH. I've had random tightening at spots in my stomach, but they're barely noticeable. Maybe those are BH. And I've been leaking fluid since very early pregnancy so if I have a trickle water break I probably won't even notice. I really don't want to be late, but maybe that's happening. Or maybe I'll just go 0 to 60 one day and have a quicker labor. That's what I'm telling myself, haha!!

Definitely BH. They don't hurt for me either, but if baby is already hanging out up in my ribs, when my stomach hardens up, it gets really uncomfortable to breathe. I've had several of them every day, but no pain yet. I just need baby to make it 10 days and we are clear to deliver at our preferred hospital (they only have a level 1 nursery, so won't take people before 36 weeks).
Like many of you, I have reached the point where going early would be great. Also, I don't know why the Bump is putting my original comments in quote style. Tech fail on my part, I guess!
@littlebirdie28 that's comforting. At least something is happening in there. She dropped around 34 weeks but since then I just feel like there's been little going on except my crazy nesting. I do feel she's been moving a lot more lately too, but I might just be able to feel her better now that she's bigger...like those fun kicks that wake me up and take my breath away.
Freaking birth balls are no joke. Mine came in the mail today. Figured I'd sit on it while watching tv to help with baby positioning. About 15 minutes in I could feel way more movement/pressure down in my cervix. I jumped off worrying too much might actually start labor/dialation and at 35 weeks I'm not ready for that yet. Even sitting back on the couch I can feel the change in pressure.
Sorry birth ball. You will sit in the corner for another few weeks. Then it's game on!
@tinattt23 & @BabyRobbinsAdventure I am scared it will put me into labor early (although at 38 weeks on Friday, it's not THAT early) but I had to sit on it tonight because my pelvis hurts SO FREAKIN BAD. Funny I just posted about it in HDBD.
The baby has visibly dropped, I feel insane pressure, but no contractions. In fact, I was having lots of BH a week ago but nothing now. Will be getting checked tomorrow...was not dilated 2 weeks ago but we shall see now....
I used that damn birth ball SO SO SO SO much last time around and...DS was almost 2 weeks late, lol. I never had a contraction or any signs of labor. However, I'm not sure he was every "engaged" pre induction-at least, I never felt this much pressure in my pelvis/had such an uncomfortable time walking. I'm busting out my ball this weekend, as my leave starts Monday!
omg my exercise ball has been my saving grace with my back pain, and quite possibly the reason my baby has been head down since week 20. I sit on it all the time!!
Well at my 37 week appt yesterday morning I had been contracting for a while before it started. OB said I was about 1.5cm and 60% effaced. I ended up having contractions ALL day eventually timetable and stronger and went to L&D at 3pm only to be told I was a solid 2cm. After walking for two hours I was 3cm so they sent me home around 6pm. Still contracting every 3 minutes. Took a hot bath and they didn't slow down or space out. Tried to lay down at 10pm. Got up at midnight with the worst contraction pain (or so I thought) ever. Thought I was in transition or something bc I was nauseous and sweating for a half hour having awful abdominal pains. Sped over to the hospital. Had multiple episodes of horrible diarrhea while there, and still contracting. Sorry TMI. Still 3cm. The worst of the pain stopped. They said the diarrhea was probably from contracting for 18 hours. Back home around 3:15am. Then just contracting randomly. I'm spent and so frustrated. Took an Ambien. Slept from 3:30 to 8:30am. Now all day today I've just had random contractions. And felt awful. I cannot wait for this to be over.
But now I'm freaking out. This is my third. I now don't want to go to L&D until I know that I know that I know it's time. But unless my water breaks (which it never has on its own before) I feel like I'll be agonizing over when to go and possibly wait too long. Ugh.
@PharmDMom My 3rd was riddled with false starts and similar annoying prodromal or latent labor. It was SO frustrating! Know your time is probably very near. I'm sorry. It's highly annoying that after your 1st or 2nd it isn't painfully clear what is going on. It may also be that crazy super moon messing with you??? Get rest... drink water and go out for some eggplant parm and have a date night.
Thanks @maamawaabangi. I've been an emotional wreck all day. Especially with two other kids to worry about (we have no family in town), making arrangements for things like going to the hospital isn't easy and I think that's adding an extra measure of stress. Plus I have to work all weekend (26 hours between Fri, Sat and Sun) and can't imagine doing it feeling like this. I do have a haircut scheduled for tonight (no baby means I get to keep the appt- silver lining?) so I'll get some me time. Thank you for encouraging me. It means a lot.
After unorganized contractions all morning, they finally became regular and 2-3 minutes apart this afternoon. just got off work, gonna go lay down for half an hour and call my Dr if they continue. I had this go on for 3 weeks with dd1 so I'm not getting my hopes up but we will see.
I just went to the bathroom after showering to discover I've got a bit of blood when I wipe... who knows if anything is getting started, hopefully not so I can make arrangements for DS and get to the hospital for a c-section!! I didn't go into labor with DS so I have no idea!
Soooo many braxton hicks since last night... for the last 24 hours. Slight cramping in lower back, off and on. I refuse to believe I'm in going into labor at the moment. They're not painful contractions, so hopefully not. My mom can't come for a few more weeks and I am not ready at school for my long-term sub yet! She needs at least a couple more weeks to cook!
@DumbledoresArmy Same here! Need her to stay in hopefully until Christmas break starts but she seems to be getting herself ready.
Yaaasss! 10-15 per day. Not painful, but a month ago, my midwife asked if I was experiencing any BH and I had said no. Within a week of that appointment they started showing up and now it's just a part of my day. I'm hoping at my next appointment, when I go in for my GBS test, they will check my status. I hear a lot of BH help get things going....
What do contractions feel like? My Dr said they are like period cramps. I had period cramps off and on all night (of course none now that I'm awake) but I didn't really feel my uterus tightening with them all the time. I have lots of BH but those aren't really painful or even uncomfortable, just tightening.

I felt mine in my pelvis. When they were intense I could feel them in my back and rectum as well. Never felt them in my stomach/ ute area

I woke up last night with moderate menstrual like cramping. Up until now I've just had painless BH, but this was def different. But nothing timeable, just twice woke up to it. Also bowel issues for the last few days. I thought last night's cramping was just needing to hit the bathroom but nope.
There is something about contracting that is period-crampy like but I would not describe them as just like menstruel cramps. They are much sharper and the tightening is very obvious. You can even feel it in your lungs.

Not everyone feels them the same, and not every pregnancy do they feel the same. Even when pushing E out or being on Pit with L they never left my pelvis/lower back.

My OB has told me to watch out for period like cramps and to come in if they continue for two hours. We'll be going in in a little bit just because I've had them off and on since 9 am and had an OB appointment and she said to come in if they didn't go away. Almost 3:30 pm my time and still having them. I don't think they're necessarily labor contractions but better safe than sorry, especially since contractions mean c section time, finally.
@ashleaf2018 contractions may not mean c section time...at least at my hospital, a c section will not be allowed earlier than 39 weeks unless you are in active labor, meaning your cervix is changing. Which is why I'm still pregnant even after 5 full days of 2 minute apart contractions...they arent changing my cervix at all.
I saw my Dr today and she said period cramps just mean "something's going on in there" but they aren't really contractions. The Dr last week told me something different. Who knows.
Mine have never felt like cramps... to me that's a totally different sensation. I have an over all intense tightening of my uterus (or whole abdominal area) and then a pulling up feeling or (during one birth) a pushing down feeling of my cervix. It is sort of a whole body sensation for me and even sort of takes away my ability to expand my lungs. When it gets painful it's not crampy as it is overly intense (running in my back or legs) and overwhelmingly tight.
Well ladies, it looks that I may deliver 3 weeks early. HG, GD, and boarder line pre eclampsia. contractions 3-4 minutes apart and dilated. this pregnancy has kicked my ass but somehow, I am feeling so sad to say goodbye to pregnancy. this is my 2nd and final as my body just does not handle pregnancy well and I am beyond excited to meet her, I am just so sad. =(
After my check up this morning I came home and had near constant contractions for a couple of hours - and I didn't have any internal checks so there wasn't anything to trigger them. I realized I hadn't eaten much today so I had a bowl of cereal and a coconut water and they eased up. I still have had tightening here and there, so I checked in with my doula and she said it sounded like pre-labor or early labor, but that it could last a few days or a week or more. So I'm just kind of trying to pay attention more closely to when they're happening. The midwife did say that his head was pretty low, and I've been feeling more pressure like I have to poop, so it seems he's getting into position. I just want him to stay in there until after the weekend so i can have a few days of no work before he arrives!
I had no early signs. I usually had BH every night and had those Sunday night like normal. My only sign was when i got up to pee at 2am, I sat on the toilet a little longer cos I felt more pressure, like I had to poop. When it was done, i went back to bed. A few minutes later, I felt some more pressure but thought maybe LO moved and got more on my bladder. I got up and had a tough time holding the pee in, some of whatever it was went down y leg, soaked my underwear and the rest made it into the toilet. I then had increased discharge that had a pink tinge to it but eventually turned red and clotty. Then... back pain started. And it was coming on strong... 5 minutes for a minute at a time. I knew something was up.
I missed a bunch of labor stages and pretty much went into active, or whatever that last stage is. I was 6cm dilated at the hospital already (was 1.5 cm last Tuesday). And back labor... holy hell. They could not have given me that epi soon enough!

After trying to pump yesterday, then a cervical check, I had a few contractions later in the day. The bowel issues have only gotten worse. But baby is still super active and I've only had a few BH today. But I know what y'all are talking about ... not the same as menstrual cramps. I told Dr. about it and she said it may not be a "real" contraction but my body is obviously prepping.
Last time I decided not to do anything to try to make myself (always overdue) "go into labor"... with my 1st and 3rd I was 13 and 9 days overdue (2nd was born on his DD, have no idea how that happened). I was frantic to get the baby out with my 1st and 3rd. I learned everything i tried only made me miserable, caused increased prodromal labor (with no cervical changes) and wore the stink out of me! With my "4th" I did NOTHING and she was only 4 days overdue... and I was way less worn out and less emotionally stressed. In fact I was totally rested and ready. Maybe not for everyone, but i found it was a better course of action for my overall wellbeing.
Turkey day baby is on his way. Been in prodmal labor for days, finally contractions were unbearable enough to go in. Arrived at the hospital at 7pm (contractions since 2am so no sleep for me) and now just waiting.

I've definitely been feeling more of the cramping and increased lower pelvic pressure. Nothing measurable, and no sign of losing my mucus plug yet, but my body is obviously prepping itself. Had my growth scan on Wednesday and Little Miss is head down, so at least she's in the right position! I will be 37 weeks on Sunday, so if she does decide to make her appearance soon, I'm sure the MDs won't be stopping her.
Not sure if this is a "legit" labor symptom, but my nesting instinct is out of control. I haven't had any trouble sleeping this pregnancy, but this last week, I wake up at 6AM every morning, wide awake and with an uncontrollable impulse to clean the house. So I panic clean until about 7:30AM when I become totally exhausted again and go back to bed. It's bizarre, and it's happened four days in a row. All the old people I know tell me that this means the baby is coming very soon, but who knows?
