Re: MOTN November

  • I also do the mom brain - imagining people as their baby and toddler selves... And sympathizing with things like eggs. I cried eating an egg earlier on because of it. In my head I was saying how sorry I was to the momma chicken. Weird.
@austenista - are you still mostly vegan? I've cut out mammals for the most part (well... okay I am TRYING).
It's my goal anyway. Except the meat from things that live good lives. I don't know why I went here... it's early...

@slartybartfast I want to be vegan, but I started to notice decreased fetal movement with a plant diet that would improve when I gave him the protein so I scrapped it for the rest of the pregnancy. I'll probably try again with the new year. I'm like you, I feel for the animals and their mamas. I feel sorry for everything though, I even want to take all bugs outside instead of killing them. I have two cats and I live in fear of the day they actually catch a rodent. Poor thing.

  • Been up for a while now, finally decided to get on my phone. Keep thinking about all the little things I forgot to put in my sub plans for today (took the day off since I have an appt right in the middle of the day). Counting down the minutes until I can text a coworker to put out the computer log in cards and to make sure the laptops are plugged in.
Or maybe I should just go in and do it... but then what's the point of taking the day off? This is the first day this year I've left my students with a sub, so it's the "test" to see how they handle a long term sub when the baby arrives.
I think I stress more when I take days off, which is why I try to avoid it.
  • @slartybartfast  don't worry about eating eggs unless you are eating fertilized chicken eggs...... pretty much you're just eating what the chicken "ovulated" ha... (which is unappetizing in it's own way.....)

  • @toller oh yes I'm aware - it's a silly one. Also the silly thought hasn't affected my egg intake.... I've had eggs soooo much all pregnancy. I think that's why I'm becoming egg shaped

  • @slartybartfast  once it occurred to me what chicken eggs actually are.....I actually had to AVOID thinking about it because it started to gross me out haha.... good for you for eating so many eggs- Egg shape is a good shape for pregnancy :) I can barely touch them right now....

Apparently there are people who eat fertilized chicken eggs though...(no thanks!!!)

  • @toller - oh yea, I spent a summer in china and at the Chinese market in my area you can buy them. Though, I was served many grosser things in my time there if you can believe it!

  • Every time I get comfortable tonight I have to pee. Roll over, pee, repeat. Also, getting super jealous of all the ladies having their angels already! Cmon baby!
  • I'm up as usual. DH came to bed late and immediately started snoring so I'm now on the couch. I've been up for over an hour now so it should be a fun night
  • Hi guys, I feel like I'm here way too much. I just went to bed to early, DH is out of town and my DDs sleep in my bed when he's gone. I was so tired and wanted to make sure they weren't playing so I went to bed at like 8:30 thinking it'd be good to catch up on sleep. Oops.
Its 12:30 now. My carpel tunnel in my hands is also keeping me up, they hurt so bad and my right one is especially swollen and painful. There were times today where I couldn't get my middle finger to bend. It would be pretty funny if I went around flipping everyone off just blaming my carpel tunnel :)
I also haven't gotten all the way over a cold, still have sore throat and wondering if I should go to the regular doctor.

  • Sitting on a peanut ball, waiting to be checked again. The last nurse wasn't comfortable sending me home, but I have to be monitored and checked a couple times before they will AROM- artificial rupture of membranes. So bouncing and circling my my hips off.

@yellingbanana You up for a thread tonight?

  • Still here. I think I have been forgotten by the nurse. I was supposed to be checked again at 1:30, yet here I am still bouncing away.

@yellingbanana as a swollen hand sufferer since 20 weeks (it is so  fun!) you could try icing before bed with epsom salts (and motn) and use braces. I've also used a sweatband to wrap cabbage leaves around my fingers at bedtime (super janky and u cant use your hand) but it works?? I also went so far as to buy arthritis gloves- which helped too but I had weeks and weeks to go at that point. anyhow - i super feel for you- I'd take swollen feet over hands ANY DAY!!!!!!

  • @BabyRobbinsAdventure there are days when I need to take off (like for being sick) where I will just go in ill because its easier than taking a day. Sub plans are THE WORST. We only have one person willing to sub in our school because its a hot ass mess, so luckily I don't have to write out routines and scheduling things because she has been there so much.
  • Ugh my hips. I'm never going to sleep through the night again am I?!?

  • @slartybartfast have you tried a small yoga/labor/peanut ball between your knees?

  • @slartybartfast put a firm pillow between your knees/legs when you sleep at night. I have hip and back pain and it seems to really help!
  • Ugh not quite the middle of the night yet but having anxiety about even trying to sleep. So tired.
  •  I'm nervous to go to sleep, DH is working on the bathroom remodel that he wants to be done with by Wednesday. I'm worried he's going to suddenly need my help, like he's going to hurt himself and I need to be on alert. I love him, but it's going to take a miracle to get it done by Wednesday!

  • Up since 2:30 again. My right knee and hip hurt. Down to single digit days left and this can't be over fast enough.
  • Its no longer middle of the night but ALL OF THE THINGS are making me crazy and I just got up. DS is SUPPOSED to sleep til 7am (did he not get the new schedule for weekends?!?!) but was up cooing at 5:45. This woke me up and even though he is now asleep I became aware of my hound dog's constant whining to go out and DH's horrific snoring.

Seriously this snoring is out of control. Its never been this bad and its like everytime he finds something that works it works for one day and then it stops. I don't know what is wrong with him but he needs to go to a doc and figure it out. It's like he's having trouble actually getting air through is windpipe-the one day he didn't snore this week I could hear him struggling to breathe. I tell him to go to the doc and he's like, yeah yeah, and he doesn't do it. I know its a pain for him to and I should stop nagging but....DO SOMETHING FOR GODS SAKE OR IMMA KILL YOU IN YOUR SLEEP.
  • @SmashJam I'm up early too with DD2, of course now she's sleeping on the couch while I'm still awake. Your DH might have sleep apnea, which can be a big deal because it is linked to heart disease. Is he grumpy and sleepy during the day?  Best to drag him in to see the doc. They can do a full eval and sleep study, hopefully he can get past the stubbornness and make an appointment.
  • Yeah I seriously can't do this anymore. Tomorrow will be a solid week of about 3 hours sleep a night and waking up at 2:30am. I'm going to lose. My. Shit. Like the days aren't long enough. This is TORTURE
  • @whitneyp26 sometimes when I know I have to get more than a few hours of sleep, I take a benedryl. Totally doctor/Ob approved!

  • @SmashJam fwiw my dad just got a cpap machine for similar symptoms and he feels SO much better. he regrets not getting checked out sooner. hope your hubby complies and goes to the doctor !

  • @SmashJam Step dad just got a sleep apnea machine about a year ago. He snored forever. My mom begged him to do something about it for years. Took a nasty paniced/lack of oxygen fall into the nightstand requiring stitches before he listened. The first week with his machine he was a new man. Raved about how well he slept. And was less grumpy with everyone else throughout the day. And side bonus, they now get a discount on their power bill because they are considered a medical need family.
  • @tinattt23 @ea301 @zubenescamali thanks for the words of wisdom...I told DH about the CPAP machine and sleep apnea and he was like, I know I know, I need to get it checked out! He agreed to do it post holiday, as it is probably gonna be hard to get something this week. I think he's put it off for so long because he's worried something might be wrong with him and that scares him!

@SmashJam I know what you mean. My dad had some of the same fears... and for him the results were bad. He had 62 "incidents" within an hour... so he was never entering REM sleep. He thought it was more minor of an issue and felt silly for  waiting.

Also, the machine my dad has is awesome. I think he was really reluctant because you hear horror stories about how noisy, uncomfortable, torturous they are. but the kind he has includes a humidifier, and it ramps up the air so its not like you are being choked with air as you fall asleep... he was surprised by how comfy it ended up being. maybe more incentive for your hubby to check it out! hope it gets better for you both !

  • I have been trying to go to sleep for an hour and a half now. I'm exhausted. But I fell and scraped my knee pretty nastily yesterday chasing down DS (ripped my pants, I was so mad) and now it's stinging like hell as it heals. Plus the normal uncomfortable, constantly having to pee, foot in ribs, sitting on nerves, and mild cramping pregnancy bs. I'm so frustrated I could cry. DS has been asleep for 3 hours and I just know he's going to wake up at the butt crack of dawn.

Question for you late night STMs... do normal babies poop like mad? my poor husband has been pooped on 3x in the middle of changing a poopy diaper. I expected this with pee but not poo! just curious...

I am sitting here with her waiting to change the poopy diaper because i just know she's not done yet, and I really don't want to be pooed upon.

  • @ea301 Both of mine have taken 10 minutes to 'finish' their diapers. So I get everything ready: diaper laid out, wipes spread out/warmed in my hands, diaper cream/coconut oil ready; then I wait. Hope they are dine and change.

Our DD1 only pooped on us once or twice, and usually just pooped once a day.
But DD2.... she pooped several times a day and I swear she was pooping on us on purpose! She'd spend 10 minutes getting a poop out, we'd wait 10-15 minutes, and as soon as we lifted her legs to wipe, she would push. And poop all over the place, and us. We would go through 2 or 3 diapers each time she pooped. But we did learn to be prepared with a waterproof pad underneath her butt, an extra outfit at hand, and a stack of diapers waiting. She did it until she was potty trained. But when she was about 1, she would usually just push out a fart from then on. And then laugh at us, that's how I know she was doing it on purpose.  ;)

  • @yellingbanana ours sounds a lot like DD2... little jerk! haha! That said, we just had a successful diaper change after a big time deuce. Hopefully that helps give DH some confidence. He was traumatized to be continuously pooed on every time he changed her.

  • No sleep for me. At least for now. My stomach has been so itchy and it seems like nothing relieves the itch and pain. This has been going on since mid-last week when I got a new fresh set of stretch marks
I've used all sorts of lotions. I tried coconut oil and that only seemed to help for a day or so.
I have a dr appt Monday morning so I plan on asking the DR because this is driving me insane
