Re: November Randoms

  • @TiffRox81 she always has the cutest headbands! Is that just ribbon on the frame? And how do you attach it?
  • Loading the player...
  • @schaze Thanks!! We got quite a few as gifts. But they are an addiction of mine haha!!

Yep open back frame...ribbon attached to the back with a hot glue gun. Super easy. And I bought some clothes pins in the scrap booking section at hobby lobby.
  • @shanparadise so happy you are back!! The twins are adorable. I don't know how you have done it, but I'm glad they are happy and healthy!
  • @hreed7289 if LO keeps that up, potty training should be easy!! I'm actually kinda jealous

@tiffrox81 where do you get your cute headbands?? I would like more of them!
I just signed M up for a headband monthly subscription box if you're looking for another route. 3 headbands a month, homemade, in America, and $11.99 a month.  https://littlepoppyco.com/
  • Bath question- We love our bath time and are currently still sitting in the infant insert but now that she is getting wiggly and playing in the tub she is scooching out of the seat and while I never leave her so I'm not worried about drowning I can't imagine it is comfortable for her.  It doesn't look like they still sell the ring seats and she can't sit up on her own yet.  Does anyone have any suggestions or bath seats that they love?

This is the tub we use.

don't know if this would be a better alternative but it's pretty good with LO.

  • Anyone else dealing with/dealt with ear infections? LO has a minor infection in both ears (4 months old last thursday)! Poor thing... I knew she's been a little fussier than usual... We're going to start her on amoxicillin today.
  • @jodi1980 Thanks!  I feel like I would have to see it in person first to see if the little crotch holder is any bigger than the one in her current seat.  She is pushing herself over it as of right now...eek!  I don't currently have a bumbo or any seats like that but seeing as they're all plastic I'm wondering if I should get creative and just stick one of those in the tub?  Has anyone tried anything like that?
  • @kmurdock925 Bumbo is creative!! I wonder if it would float though?
  • @TiffRox81- yup I just googled it and its a no go.  Floating is an issue and apparently it is foam? (again, I don't have one to know 1st hand) so mold is an issue.  No bueno.
  • We had the Muchkin Bath Duck when DD1 started sitting up and we loved it! If you don't mind waiting another month until she's sitting, I recommend this one!
  • Oh I did see that online- I wondered how well it worked.  Good to know!
  • @kmurdock925 they sell that one at target. I don't know if sitting LO in them to test them out in the store would help at all....LOL...sometimes they have product trials/testing too but not sure where you sign up for that. I only came to learn that when looking at product reviews and saw people writing they received it as a trial. Something maybe to consider?! I hope you find a good tub regardless!

  • I've seen that too @jodi1980!  I wondered how to be a tester...that sounds amazing.  people get very nice/expensive things to test for free!
  • @kmurdock925 sounds cool but if i liked the item, i wouldn't want to give it back...I GUESS I'd have to buy it like everyone else  :p

  • I wondered about that testing stuff. You think they give the items back? I bet the item is complimentary for doing the job!!
  • Anyone having problems with eczema? Originally he had it on his shoulders and elbows and thighs and backs of his knees...that was the first sign of his allergies. I used eczema lotion and cut out the allergens and most of it went away pretty quick, but he still has some nasty looking patches behind his knees. I thought maybe it was his clothes or him keeping his knees bent a lot of the time that was preventing it from clearing up, but he went pants less all day today and it still looks just as bad. Ugh.

  • @Tiffrox81 I saw a customer review for strollers when we were adding for the registry. It happened to be a model made by Jeep. I would hope they would give them the stroller after trying it out... that would totally blow to get used to it only to have to give it back!
Idea.... perhaps some of us should look into product testing and write a review under topic discussion panel to let other bumpies know yay or nay to potentially purchase.

  • @Jodi1980 That's very much up my alley, hahaha! I'm a pretty frugal person. Needless to say every review I read and see that it was a demo item makes me think Why not me?!? Hahaha!
  • @winnie1122 We dealt with some serious eczema with the twins. Turned out to be food allergy related. Ruby got it so bad on her face that it was splitting and bleeding. Once we switched them to a different formula 99% of it went away. They both get a few stubborn patches here and there but they clear up quickly. We use Mustela products on them, mainly the Steletopia line. The lipid replenishing balm works miracles!
  • @winnie1122 we are dealing with eczema too. Q scratches his face so bad that it looks like a cat got him! I cut out dairy and that helped immensely, but it is still there a little on his forehead. We have tried so many different lotions and balms except for steroids. I just bought the balm @shanparadise  suggested and I'm hoping it works!! I think this will be lotion number 7.... I will let you know if it works for us. Good luck with finding something for your LO!
  • @winnie1122 eczema over here too! I just bought a humidifier so hopefully the moisture in the air helps.
  • Anyone's LO have cradle cap? I'm been smearing petroleum cream on his noggin for weeks....he also has this weird soothing way of scratching his head/ forehead  and face so badly that like your LO @arhodes6 it looks like he got scratched by a cat. We've  been  putting the mitts on him and daycare has been trimming his nails thankfully but I'm not really sure how to get him to stop that. Just gonna keep watch for now hoping he grows out of it.

  • @mldutton no ear infections, thank god, but he was just put on a nebulizer for bronchiolitus. He got pretty sick a few weeks ago and I think it just lingered and turned into this nastiness. Really trying to keep it out of his ears. He is also on an antibiotic to congestion  :(
  • @mldutton How did you figure out the ear infection? Just curious, I had bad ear infections as a kid so I'd like to be aware of how to spot them if he has them like I did. Hope your LO feels better soon!

  • I put coconut oil on his head ten mins before bath then scrub it out w soap and comb all the crap out sometimes hair will come out too
  • My first son had several ear infections he'd get a high fever and wake up several times at night screaming it hurts when they lay down worse he'd also refuse to eat due to the pain.
  • winnie1122 I did the same thing.  I used both olive oil and also the honest company's baby oil as it isn't petroleum based.  I let it sit for a few hours then at bath time scrubbed her noggin with a soft brush.  It was all cleared up within 2 baths.  Now I use the brush at every bath as a preventative measure and it hasn't come back!
  • @Jodi1980 Ruby had it real bad. It was nasty. I used the Mustela newborn foam shampoo on her with a cradle cap brush in the tub. But before I would slather this stuff I got on amazon on it and let it sit for a half hour, and then use a fine tooth comb to gently lift some of the flakes. It finally all went away! Here's the stuff I found on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01BFSGUYU/ref=sxts1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1479310363&sr=1
  • @winnie1122 We actually found out during her 4-month check up yesterday. She started with a cold last week, that turned into a fever friday/saturday. Fever went away sunday but she was still crankier than usual. Doc cleared out her ears and saw the fluid build up. @john5111 I definitely notice her get more cranky when I lay her down for bed so that's interesting. We started her on amoxicillin last night so hopefully this clears up soon. I hope everyone's sick LO's feel better soon! I think this weather change is what's bothering our LO... keeps getting cold, then hot again, then cold, etc (We live in texas)
  • Anybody use the Windi (from the NoseFrida people) with success?
  • @Jodi1980 we had a pretty mild case of it. It still goes in and out and appears on her face and neck more than flakes in her hair but she did have both. For the face and neck, the doctor suggested a little hydrocortisone cream, let it sit for about 10 minutes and then a little aquaphor. (I've only had to do that once or twice.) Use the h cream like once-ish daily and aquaphor 2-3 times daily. For flaky hair, she said to wash once a week but aquaphor 2-3 times daily. However, it seems to have calmed down more when I wash her hair every other day. And then massage aquaphor in her hair/scalp. And a little on her face only if/when dry.

  • Thanks for the advice ladies! I did fail to mention we used olive oil and let it sit prior to washing his hair (what little is on his head) lol and that helped but a few patches still linger on the highest back part of his head. I have also massaged in aquaphor or petroleum cream prior to bedtime so he sleeps with it on his head. I'm wondering if it's cradle cap and eczema as the spots seems dry and rough and not as flakey as it used to be when it was just cradle cap. I will have to try the hydrocortisone prior to the aquaphor to see if that makes a change.

  • @jodi1980 our peditrician recommended using Selsun Blue for C's cradle cap, it cleared up in a couple of days
  • @kmurdock925 Now let me say I know nothing about whether or not this is recommended or not but there's something called the otterbaby? Look it up! Might be a bath solution for you!!
  • @Jodi1980 I second selsum blue. my pediatrician recommended it when it was pretty bad. she gets it behind her ears and on her forehead pretty bad.

@mldutton we live in texas too and this crazy drastic weather xhange is driving me nuts. I can't figure out if I should dress her for summer or fall! it's not helping her runny nose.
