@jjtruffles forgive me if you know what this was. I lived in a metropolitan bubble up until 10 years ago and NEVER knew what it was until I moved 90 miles east....LMAO Pumpkin roll IS amazing!
@kmurdock925 I am super paranoid. My babes are preemies and I had to get steroid shots before they were born, so their immune systems are not as developed as a term baby. We're basically on lockdown. They can't be around large groups or children in school or daycare right now. Ruby has a nasty cold right now and we are SO careful with them. Just shows you how fragile their little immune systems are.
So that leaves thanksgiving as just the four of us at home. It is DH's birthday on Friday so we will probably do something special for him then.
We are going home for Christmas so we are going to a friendsgiving! My husband is in charge of smoking the bird and I'm making oven baked mac and cheese. And a rye whiskey cocktail, because booze. We do pumpkin rolls here in Ohio as well. I love to cook and bake, but those are one thing I've always been A ok buying. Talk to me about this millioniare pie please!
@LDSJM123 yay ohio!...this is a big week...I suppose I should ask what metro area? In Cbus here! From Cinci though. mmmmmm mac and cheese. Most of my mom's side of the family has a dairy allergy so there is never mac and cheese.

The greater Akron/Cleveland area. My mom worked at OSU Med Center for a number of years. We love Columbus!
@LDSJM123 excellent! Not going to lie- I think it would be great to have a baby at OSU for Beat *ichigan week with all of the adorable blankets and hats!
We're going to my in-laws for Thanksgiving. BIL is an amazing cook and is taking care of everything! He made it last year and got rave reviews, but I was so sick I could barely eat anything, so I'm really looking forward to eating it this year!
Just curious, any of you braving the Black Friday crowds with or without LO? I have never been a fan after working retail for 4 years, but I have my eye on a convertible car seat so if it's on sale I may have to go out.. or just order online!
I'm feeling a little sick now. Praying we are healthy for this fun weekend! Thursday we are going to my aunt and uncle's house with all my family. They are 2 hours away. I'm bringing a green salad and homemade cranberry sauce. I was going to bring a pumpkin roll but my uncle is bringing tons of pumpkin pies, so I decided not to! Friday we are watching football at my in-law's house. I might go to Old Navy in the morning for a few gifts. Saturday we are going to the mountains to cut down our Christmas tree with about 20 friends (a tradition). Sunday we are going to a fundraiser we go to each year. We have our pictures taken with Santa there
I was going to try going to target for Black Friday. I was going to put her to bed and go Thursday night for their door busters. I don't think I would feel comfortable taking her! I am also considering buying a convertible car seat! Anyone else thinking now is a good time to buy those? We want 4 kids and I'm not sure what car seat route saves us the most money/is the most effective.
@shaylalrI bought one a week or two ago- I think it was worth it! My LO was 18 lbs at her 4 month checkup so lugging around the infant carrier was so heavy. She was also getting super uncomfortable in it even though she was still within the weight/height guidelines. I figured if she didn't like it just yet we would need it eventually. It has helped tremendously! While she still freaks out on car rides over an hour (which unfortunately will be frequent this holiday season) we can now get around town tear free. She can sit up upright which she enjoys (she hates being on her back) and I think she may be able to see out the windows, at least a little. I used veteran day sales/coupons. I would suggest taking your LO to try them out though because what I thought would be comfy for her was not at all.
@LDSJM123 I'm not sure where the recipe or name came from originally, but my mom has made it for as long as I can remember! It's basically a pecan pie but with chocolate chips and coconut added. People get mad if there's no millionaire pie at thanksgiving in my family!

Now that B has decided he will roll over nonstop, he throws up constantly. He has bad reflux that is controlled with Prevacid for the acid, but that doesn't help the spitting up. I've had to change his sheets three times today, his shirt five times, he has no clean sleep sacks because he's soaked all three of those too. Any tips on how to make him stop this? It's so disgusting and frustrating.
Wondering if this happened to anybody else- we painted our sons room (like 6 months ago) and the paint smell is lingering!!!! We tried vinegar, opening windows and an air purifier. The actual room smells ok now....but the insides of his drawers still smell awful! I can't put anything in there without it smelling like the paint! Any tips for getting paint smells out of wood?!?!?!!! Help please!
@austinjl Have you tried some charcoal? I had someone vomit in my car last summer and i left a bag of charcoal in the car for a few days and it worked like magic. I can't remember who told me about that.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We went to three and LO and I were totally exhausted by the end of the day, but it was fun. Except I started coming down with something last night and it's been getting worse all day....ughhhhhh. I don't have time to be sick right now and I really don't want to give it to P!

My mom usually does a huge Thanksgiving and our tradition is do draw our 'secret santa' names then, with everyone together (it's way too much to buy everyone gifts so there's and adult one and then a sibling/spouse one). Buuuuttt...we just moved halfway across the country so my step brother and his husband came out and cooked for us! They are vegetarian and MH is definitely NOT, so we braved making our first turkey (which was edible!) and had a great time. Looking forward to not breastfeeding over the holidays next year so I can booze it up again, haha. Today we're headed out on a hike.
Glad to hear Thanksgiving was good for everyone. We had a nice Thanksgiving. I hosted and there were a few mishaps, but overall, plenty of good food. And we were able to invite a neighbor who has an 8 mo old, so it was kind of a play date too. OMG, ladies, they grow so much in the next 4 months!!
Unfortunately, everyone in my house is now sick. Including LO and I. Yay for germ sharing!
@FTM53 Yep, I've been down sick for the last two days. Lost my voice completely too. Thankfully no one else has it yet, I'm trying to keep these germs away from the baby but it's tough!

So Camille has developed a clear preference for me and I'm not sure what to do. If DH is holding her and I stand near she'll lean over to me to get her and if I'm holding her and he stands near she'll lean into me and turn her head away from him. It has to hurt his feelings and it's difficult when I want to get a break or take a nap and all she wants is me. Have I spoiled her (if that's a thing)?
@Heathereaddy My LO will do that a little when grandparents are holding him and he can see me, not quite to the extent you're describing and not with DH, but when he did it to my mom she mentioned that it was actually pretty normal and that I did that to my dad around this age. Apparently I would cry if he tried to take me from my mom and would shy away from him. A couple years later and I was totally a daddy's girl. I don't think you can really spoil at this age, it's probably just some separation anxiety and needing her mommy.

@Heathereaddy Lincoln does the same to everyone with me. (It definitely bothers dh) The pediatrician and healthy families/parents as teacher keeps drilling in that babies can't be spoiled until at/after 6 months. That until then, it's about learning trust, building bonds and realizing their needs will be met when they give cues. And that these are normal behaviors. (Had this discussion at our 4 month check up).
@Heathereaddy I've had several moms tell me their babies went through stages of only wanting mom and then only wanting dad. It's totally normal and will all even out eventually.
@Heathereaddy Q is doing the same thing. All of our friends say that at this age their kids only wanted mom but that changed and they only wanted dad. I kind of hope it doesn't change because i love when he wants me
On another note, what are you guys getting your kids for Christmas? Are you going to do practical stuff like clothes or are you going to get toys and fun stuff? I am torn! My family is going to get him toys and they all asked for stuff to get him, so I know he will be set, but I also want to buy him stuff and have the excitement of opening it in the morning!
We have enough toys that we saved from DD1. So I might do 1 outfit and 1 book? We aren't big gift givers. I'm giving DD2 a felt board with felt people/items to go on it, 1 book and an outfit.
We do something to wear, do, read, and want. Santa brings 1 thing and fills the stockings.
So M is getting Christmas pj's, a Montessori style ring stacking toy, a new book (The girl who lost her name, it's all over Pinterest), and her first baby doll. Santa is bringing her a high chair and for her stocking, lots of stuff for table food. Sippy cup, silver ware, and plastic bibs. @arhodes6
My SIL is being induced tomorrow morning! I'm so excited! DD2 is going to look huge next to the new baby. I can't believe how quickly time is passing. I'm thankful to not be in the newborn stage anymore but at the same time I can't wait to snuggle the baby.
Help me out- where do you all get wireless nursing bras for big boobs? Seriously...can't even find my size online....I just want a smooth cup and no wire.
Nordstrom will turn any of their bras into nursing bras for you. I haven't actually done this so I'm not sure if it's a free service, but that's pretty cool!
I am stuck as to what to do for Christmas. The weekend prior to the holiday, we will be traveling to visit family which is about 6 hrs away. The last time we did this drive it was rather difficult. I don't mind, as it is with my husbands grandfather who is declining in health. For the actual holiday, we've been asked to travel again, about 4 to 5 hours. I'm not sure if I really want to. It's to be with the some of the same family members as the weekend prior and I had invited them here for Christmas itself a few months ago. I was looking forward to a quiet at home Christmas with no traveling. I am totally stumped. I don't want to be rude or selfish but I also don't want two long weekends in the car with very stimulating scenarios, which I learned DS isn't a fan of.
@DachshundMomma I personally wouldn't do two road trips so close together especially if you'd prefer a quiet xmas at home. You can politely decline and hopefully people will understand that traveling with a baby is hard!
I'm all about declining anything you don't want to genuinely do. Especially this time of year when it's so easy to get overbooked, over extended, and exhausted. I'd politely decline and mention if anyone wants to come to you, they can. Don't feel bad for one second about not making 2 trips. I think people tend to forget or be oblivious to how much work traveling with a baby is. @DachshundMomma
My poor baby caught a cold last week, and now she has diarrhea and a terrible rash because of it. I feel so bad! Waiting to hear from the pediatrician about what to do.
For those of you with munchkins who are rolling on their tummy to sleep...are any of them waking up with swollen eyes? My LO has been waking up with 1 swollen eye the past few nights. I googled it and some people have seemed to say that it is somewhat common while they adjust to sleeping on their belly...but then we also just put a live Christmas tree up right around the same time so I'm hoping it isn't an allergy to the tree...just curious if anyone else has noticed this
Also- no discomfort, puss, seepage, etc and the actual eyeball is still white...just under her eye where an adult would get baggy eyes.
