Just wanted to say how much I love this 'new' (read smaller) community since the babies have been born. Its been nice being able to keep up with threads and actually feeling like I've gotten to know some of you.
This week has been long and kind of stressful, was up til 3am working while P slept since he didn't nap yesterday, and my dad just dropped by with Starbucks....so needed!!! Extra wonderful since we cut all going out (including for coffee) out of the budget this month and I've been off dairy, so it's the most delicious thing I've had in awhile, lol. (It's made with almond milk....but I didn't make it soooo....) It's the little things.

@LDSJM123 I like this community too! I couldn't keep up before and so I didn't chime in much, but I feel like I can contribute now and it's awesome.
Are any of you dealing with a SUPER clingy baby? Q should be out of leap 4 (thank God, that was brutal!) but he is so clingy. I can't put him down. Ever. He will hang and play with toys as long as I am sitting right there. He will sit in his play mat but only if I am right there. My husband can hold him but he has to be able to see me or he cries. It's not a terrible problem to have other than I work from home and need some time to get stuff done! Hopefully it's just a phase!
This may have been mentioned in another thread already so if so I'm sorry but does anyone's LO prefer sleeping on their tummy? Nathalie hates being on her back (she has gotten better but still doesn't like it). I was letting her sleep on me because of this and I need to transition now as I don't want it to be a forever thing lol. I'm so worried about SIDS but I can only assume that some babies are just tummy sleepers. She can also fall asleep in her swing/car seat but prefer not to use them overnight
arhodes6 yes- we are dealing with serious clings! We usually put her in her mamaroo while we eat and now she is having no part of it. We now say we are having picnics because we have to sit on the floor in front of her so she can see one of us. Even thinking she is alone is not an option right now.

My oldest was a tummy sleeper out of the gate. She's now 10. When M falls asleep on me, sometimes the transfer is easier if I keep her on her tummy. And she seems to sleep well that way.
@arhodes6 YES. So clingy right now, and I work from home too, so I've been having to wait until after bedtime to do my work this week. Super exhausting! Hoping it's just a phase though. I did ask my MIL to take him for a few hours the other day so I could catch up and regroup. It helped a lot.

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse to death asking about toys - sorry!! I just don't want to invest in things that are worthless, lol.
L has just found her feet! It's pretty darn cute, on a side note. I saw those cute little booties with toys on the end and matchy wristlets. I'm wondering if they actually stay on?! I feel like she might pull them right off but maybe not! I like them because they're small and an easy travel toy option.
I like the smaller group, too. We are an awesome bunch of ladies!!
@arhodes6 OMG, yes, the clinginess!! On one hand I love it, in the other it's driving me nuts!
@AshGee18 I've heard that if they are able to roll over, then tummy sleeping is fine. I know DS rolls to his side to sleep andgas sunce birth. Dr said if he gets there on his own, leave him.
@TiffRox81 I have some of those. They seem to stay on pretty good. However, I haven't tried them since DS found his feet.
@adough27- Here are some of my favorite toys! We don't have many battery operated toys, but someone gave us the LeapFrog Learn and Groove Musical Table and it was one of DD1's favorites starting around 7 months old. She loved pulling herself up to standing.
Yes yes yes on being clingy! She cries when I leave the room. Thankfully, she is ok with DH. If she can't see either of us though, she is so sad.
On another note, I just found out that we need to boil our water because of e.coli!!! I have been supplementing E with formula so she was exposed to the water. I really hope she will be ok.
@TiffRox81we have a play mat that we can switch up where the toys are located. I put the louder toys towards the bottom so she can kick them. She also loves taking her socks off, so I count that as play time for her feet

We have those toys and she loves them! She doesn't seem to care about the wrist toys too much but LOVES the foot ones. She dives at her feet to grab them when she has them on! (same goes for jammies with fun things on the feet)
@shaylalr That is scary! Hopefully she didn't get exposed.
So today ends the 1st week at my new job and I've been missing dropping off/picking up Maggie from daycare. Her daycare is located essentially where my old job was located and my DH still works there so he's been doing daycare duty. However, my husband has a meeting that will run late today so I came in early so that I could leave early and I'll finally get to pick her up at daycare again!! It's the little things haha

These are the toys we currently have for M and what we are planning on getting her for Christmas. She also has tons of books. We are trying to follow the Montessori model for toys. Natural materials, minimal to no lights/sounds, etc. Think classic toys ours parents had essentially. We aren't huge on toys because everything (well most things) can be played with or is new to them, if that makes sense? She also has an assortment of teething rings and a couple rattles. Oh! And a sofie giraffe.
DS has no interest in toys. We have a variety of them but I think he's still too young (just reached the 3 month mark). But he does enjoy his play mat and having me play with him (tickling, reading, walks, etc).
We've been spending a lot of time with a friend of mine and her twin 11 month old girls. It is fun to watch them all interact, even though DS doesn't have much to contribute at this point.
Okay, bonehead question but I know you won't judge today LO is 16 weeks which would equate to 4 months HOWEVER, he was born on the 22nd so that would also equal to the 4 months which I have been going by. Am I correct to make him 4 months on November 22nd or today?

I totally had that same mental blockage and discussion with my mom. I'm basing it on the actual date I decided that based on how my doc schedules her appointments. They base it on the date and not the weeks. Those pesky months with more than 4 weeks throw everything off (but the extra pay period those months make up for it! haha)
@Jodi1980 I also go by the actual date. Maggie was born the 1st so we do her monthly pictures on the 1st of each month. That was easier for us than trying to remember to count weeks.

For anyone wanting more toy ideas, I made 2 sensory bottles for DD1. These are great toys that are inexpensive! DD2 enjoys looking at them and once she starts crawling she can push them and follow them.
Carrying out some of my pins from Pinterest! Board is a tad warped so we're going to have to work that out...but made this for a fraction of what Amazon sells them for!
Next up using an open back frame to make something to hold all her hair bows!
Hi all! I just wanted to re-introduce myself. I was pretty active on this board during my pregnancy but having infant twins kicked my butt so hard for the most few months. I've been lurking again for a bit but thought it was time to get back into posting. My boy/girl twins, Beck and Ruby, are four months old now and I feel like I may be becoming human again. So, hello again all!
Does any one else's baby still have a clogged tear duct from birth? We do the compresses and the massages but it isn't working. I've been told it can take up to a year to work itself out. Have any of you done something that helps? I've read to put breastmilk on the corner of his eye but that seems weird. We have a pediatric appointment but I thought I'd inquire here as well...
@shanparadise welcome back!! We would love to see pics!
@DachshundMomma I was told by my pedi that massage on clogged ducts actually doesn't do much, it just needs to work itself out. So I left it alone and it has cleared up for us. I heard about breast milk on the duct as well, but I never tried it. I hope you get everything cleared up!
@DachshundMomma Beck had one from about one month to about three months. We did the warm compresses and massage, but it didn't do much. Eventually it just worked its way out. It still gets a little crusty from time to time but nowhere near what it was before.
@shaylalr my LO poops so frequently at 2 am! Almost every night. He wakes up, starts grumbling, waits for someone to come get him and put him on the changing table and then goes. We've tried leaving him in his crib to wait it out and even nursing first but nope! He has to be on to changing table. Babies are weird.
Thanks, ladies. Some mornings his eye is completely gooped shut and others there is no issue. However it's always kind of glassy looking. I hope it works itself out soon, though it doesn't seem to bother him at all.
Trying to knock out my remaining goals in what time I have left off work! We're getting there. Maybe her room will be complete by the time I go back to work! Those of you with baby girls...this was super easy and doubles as some wall decor! We were lacking a bit in that department.
@shaylalr Amazon is super reasonable!! I think I got 6 of the ones that tie for $12! Target sells some multi packs for cheap too. I'm starting to explore a few boutiques on Instagram. Haven't bought yet but most of them sell them for around $5-6. But Amazon is the best and easiest.
Re: November Randoms
We may start trying for #2 next spring/summer depending on where we're at financially, plus I'd love to be able to BF at least a year!

@DachshundMomma we had a clogged duct util maybe 2.5 months. Our pedi said to just hold a warm washcloth over it, and that's what worked for us.
