November Randoms

Happy Turkey month! I know we all have at least one extra thing to be thankful for this year.

1) DH was able to comfort DS last night when he woke before his next feeding. This momma got sleep!

2) My neighbor just had her baby. Quick poll: what meals worked best for you guys? On flavor, ease of reheat/eat, and amount.

  • Lasagna stackers, eggplant parm. Any type of pasta. Congrats on getting added sleep!

  • Anything I could pop into the crock pot. oo and someone brought me by frozen mac and cheese crock pot meal that we obsessed over for days.

I cannot believe it's November already.
  • Omg I know!! I feel the same. The rest of this year is going to fly by, I feel like!! These little babes will be half a year old before we know it!
  • I agree about breakfast foods and snacks. Two of my favorites that were brought over was a giant bowl of chicken salad, with crossiants, zucchini bread, and fruit. It was so nice having stuff that wasn't dinner food. My second favorite was a spaghetti casserole that was frozen and had directions with it. So we were able to pop it in the oven when we were ready for it. It was not only delicious but it made plenty for leftovers and reheated beautifully.
  • @DachshundMomma I got the BFP the day before Halloween last year. It's incredible how your entire world can change in a year.

@FTM53 My mom brought over a bunch of Costco meals when we came home. Shepherds pie and Chicken pot pie were awesome, kept well and gave us lots of leftovers. Anything comfort food-like is great.
  • @FTM53 I didn't receive any meals from others, but I froze a bunch of different meals (pizza hotdish, cilantro chicken, teriyaki chicken, etc.) to throw in the crock pot. Those were lifesavers!
  • @TiffRox81 every time I look in the mirror after a shower I expect to to be bald honestly. My hair is falling out by the handful I swear.
  • @TiffRox81 yes! Between the 3 cats, dog and my hair loss, we have to vacuum 2x a day.
  • Include me in the losing hair group - it's nuts!
  • I just thought to myself today how weird it is I'm finding my hair everywhere nowadays. I didn't contribute it to postpartum until now. Luckily I have plenty to spare.
  • Yes, SO much hair shedding lately, it's driving me nuts! I liked meals that were easy to reheat or eat in bed, lol. And snacks, definitely would have liked to have more snacks on hand! I think if someone had brought a box of salty and sweet snacks to keep by my bed and by the bathtub, I might have kissed them.

  • Yes, I'm pretty sure I am going bald. Pregnancy didn't make my hair any thicker so losing it PP feels like a sick joke.

Someone brought me scotch eggs (hard boiled eggs incased in sausage) and they were awesome to have for breakfast and snacks. High protein for recovery and I could eat them one handed while nursing.
  • Same boat overhere , my hair is everywhere DH found it in his rice last night at dinner , I just gave him a dead stare and he kept eating , I cant get it under control.

I didnt get any food either,  but a couple of friends did take me out for breakfest wich was lovely.
  • Yep!! Hair is everywhere here as well. It's crazy.

My husband made a bunch of freezer breakfast burritos. They saved me.
  • All the hair... everywhere except on my head :s Glad to hear it's not just me.

  • Lately P has not been letting me out of his sight. He's happy as a clam chilling in his boppy and chewing on his hands or toys as long as he can see me, but if I try to leave the room to do dishes or even just grab food, he instantly gets upset. I don't have many places in the house to set him so I feel like I'm trapped in my bedroom! I get things done in 5-10 minute spurts when he's either cat napping or, if I'm desperate, while he's crying. Ahhhh. Hoping this is just a leap or something?! He's even been doing it when other people are around, which he never used to do.

  • @winnie1122 this happened to me at the beginning of leap four. It lasted 3-4 days.

@HoneyBear40 Yes I hate when people try to compare my baby to theirs,  like NO mines is not perfect and yours isnt either , but the're perfect in our own eyes and thats perfectly fine. DH bestfriend just had a baby and they compare her saying how much better she lookes then our princess .. Talk about rude
  • ^ Same.  I feel like I am constantly checking his fingers/toes/diaper area for hair. It's literally everywhere. My niece ended up with a piece of her mom's hair stuck/wound around her toe and it was purple by the time we realize it (she had on footie pajamas) so I am overly concerned about that :worried:

  • A while ago I remember reading to check their fingers and toes for wrapped hairs if they seem inconsolable. I didn't understand how that could happen....until a couple weeks ago!!! Now it's my biggest fear!
  • This scary mishap reminded me....
@TiffRox81 a long time ago a friend of the family's newborn had not hair but cotton thread from the sock wrap around....it is scary and a freak thing! They move their feet so much!

  • Yes! The hair! It's EVERYWHERE!!!

Frustration on of the day: DH insists that we be home if it is anywhere near LOs naptime, if he will wake up,  or if he even *might* get hungry at any point when we're out. Cause heaven forbid, the child might cry and someone hears it or I BF in public (something I do regularly with a cover when it's just LO and I).

  • @Jodi1980 Omg!! Another legit possibility. I noticed a loose thread in her sleep sack the other night! We cut it out but now that's another thing I check regularly!!!
  • Geeze I need to check LOs toes. I never even thought of that being a problem. Good to know. Thanks ladies!

LO used to love the car until the last month or so and now the moment she's inside she cries the whole time. What gives?? I can't figure it out. Going anywhere is stressful for me now. Tell me I'm not alone! Ha
  • Not alone @tennisbabymama. But I've discovered being fed before going helps, and sometimes she gets hot in the car seat. And in general, she just doesn't like being restrained. *shrugs*

  • I also do a feeding before going out to the car! It works for us too! Ever eat a big meal then want to take a nap, I think they are the same way!
