@bradleerick some of the leggings patterns are kind of cute but one of my coworkers wore them to work and I was like to myself- uhh leave those for home as your pajamas....so not professional.
@datalover13 I will happily take all of your candy corn! I freaking love it, especially those sugary pumpkins. Nommmm my teeth hurt just thinking about it.
UO: Christmas music and decorations should not be put up/on until after Thanksgiving, preferably sometime in December. I hate how much the holiday creeps up earlier and earlier each year.
@EALasagna45 Agree with you re: Christmas! Christmas IS awesome, but so is Thanksgiving and Halloween and fall. Can we just soak up every bit of them all in time and not rush them?
Along the same lines as @EALasagna45's UO, I wish people would boycott Black Friday sales that start on Thanksgiving Day. It's been getting worse every year, and I find it sad. Retail workers should be able to spend time with family, and customers should be able to wait until Friday to shop. I'd rather the occasion bleed into Saturday then start on Thursday. That would honestly make more sense to me.
@dubcompanion I love how REI has been promoting their #optoutside campaign for the last 2 years to get people outside with their families to enjoy nature and each other instead of supporting retail stores being open on Black Friday. REI closes their locations every year. This year, they have this cool thing on their website where you can choose your activity, upload your own pic, and share it to promote the campaign Here's mine!
LOL @Bradleerick. Every time one of my "friends" invites to a LulaRoe party, I'm like "do you even know me at all?!"
I agree with you @EALasagna45 BUT in the interest of full disclosure, if Mariah's "All I Want for Christmas" comes on my shuffle mix while I'm working out, I still let it play. Even in June.
Wear all the leggings you want. But if they have patterns, and you're over 12, I'm judging you. If your shirt doesn't cover your bum and crotch, I'm shaking my head at you and judging you even more. Lol
ETA this applies in public. Your own home is of course fair game always.
I was just commenting about this in randoms. Usually I am a stickler for no Christmas till after thanksgiving. But, this year I am ready for Christmas early and totally caving! Feeling like-it's never too early for Christmas cheer and good-will to others! ...maybe it's all the election negativity...? Haha.
@Bradleerick & @EALasagna45 haha I'm totally on the opposite side about Christmas - I'd listen to holiday music year round & have a tree/decorations up all year if DH would let me Although I'd probably change out the theme each month or so and make it a "holiday" tree with different decorations for each holiday... I do love fall & love Halloween & Thanksgiving but Christmas music just makes me super happy. (listening to it now)
My UO: I don't want my child to use a phone/tablet/other device until he's like at least 4. When I see young kids holding them & playing with them it bothers me because I feel like they're being trained to be addicted to technology from a way too young age. Part of me worries about using my own phone now or having it near my belly because truthfully nobody really knows the kind of radio-frequency whatever type of emissions are going on, and I just worry about the unknown potential long term effects. I feel like millions of others have used it all before and babies have been fine even when exposed to technology from a very early age - and I do get some of the benefits/learning abilities/etc. I don't want him to be behind other kids in that regard.... but ugh I just don't want him to be one of those spoiled dependent-on-devices type of kids.
I wait for Christmas anything until the day after Thanksgiving and then I go nuts! lol
@serenity13 I totally agree with you about the technology. Sometimes DH lets DS play with his phone and I hate it because he can't get enough of it and always cries when I take it. I get that iPads and all that crap are getting into schools and I'm sure there are proven benefits but I just can't help thinking that kids lose something when their face is always in a screen. I don't care if it's "educational".
My UO is that I'm tired of all the PC crap that comes with the holidays. It's perfectly acceptable to me to wish someone a Merry Christmas. In the same breath when people wish me a Happy Hanukkah or Chinese New Year or anything else I don't celebrate I'm not offended. It's the sentiment. Someone is just sending you well wishes and I see no harm in that.
I probably get invited to 2 Lularue parties a week... I don't wear dresses and If I wear leggins it's black leggings with LONG sweaters. Not to mention I am cheap when it comes to clothes lol. Usually I counting down the weeks until Christmas, and I will probably still decorate the first week in November but I also love Halloween and I don't wanna see Christmas stuff until November. I saw a store that had barely any Halloween and Fall stuff in SEPTEMBER but had Christmas stuff... It's still hot where I live, it's hard enough to get into fall in 90 degree weather, lets stop skipping fall.
@serenity13 I was big on no screen time until 2... but that didn't happen. I definitely get where you're coming from, but for us some of it has been useful. Stupid Max the Glow Train helped DS learn his letters and colors. There's an episode of Daniel Tiger about going to the doctor that helped ease his anxiety before his 2 year appointment. It's not all bad.
That said, I have also used my phone as a last resort in grocery stores (when he was younger) and restaurants (now) when all he wants to do is destroy things or not sit still. I used to judge people that did that, but I've decided what little of my sanity that is left is also important.

I think the Baby Brezza Formula machine is dumb. I also don't see a point in a formula pitcher. Making a bottle of formula takes 2 minutes tops and that includes walking from my bedroom to the kitchen. We have safe water here so I just use tap, but a friend of mine that had iffy water just left her bottle of nursery water on the counter and baby drank room temp formula. It seems like it would take a lot longer to have to pour it into the bottle and then pop it in the warmer for 3+ minutes.
The formula Keurig thing that Gerber makes (called the BabyNes) is totally badass in theory, although kind of meh in practice. I'd love to be able to push a button and have formula mixed and warmed to the perfect temperature. Maybe a FFFC, but I'm semi-seriously considering it.
My DH and I have an ongoing debate of real vs. fake Christmas tree. We agreed to alternate every other year. This year is mine for the real tree and so I've been itching to get my Christmas boxes out to inventory my Disney ornaments ( of course I have several) to see which ones I still need. Plus I think the minnie and mickey salt and pepper shaker are in the Christmas box. The traditional part of me is making me wait til Thanksgiving.
I would put our Christmas stuff up after Thanksgiving, but we are out of town from turkey day to that sunday, and we host a Christmas/holiday party the first Saturday of December...with our work schedules I usually try to get everything up the weekend before Thanksgiving so I have time and am not rushed...especially this year, since I'm probably going to have to ask our neighbor to help DH get the Christmas stuff out of the attic.
@disneybaby84 I just went to the Disney store and bought a couple of Stitch ornaments (he's my fave) and a friend is mailing me more from Disney World (she lives behind the Magic Kingdom)...she brought me a lot back in February after I had surgery for my ectopic pregnancy, so I can't wait to pull everything out

@chrlyr I'd take the Baby Brezza over that one. Since they're about the same price, but the Baby Brezza you can use whatever formula you want. The BabyNes has its own capsules that are $39 - $59 for 26 capsules. Here's where the accountant in me comes out. The price for Gerber Good Start Soothe is currently $0.14 per ounce at Target and you can make however much baby needs. The price for Gerber BabyNes first month capsules is $0.50 per ounce and you are stuck with how much it makes. 2nd month capsules are $0.38/oz, 3-6 months is $0.32/oz, and 7+ is $0.28/oz AND at months 3-6 it makes 7 oz. My 8 month old still usually only takes 5 unless he's super hungry, so I'd be throwing away $0.64 per bottle or $3.20 per day or $96 a month.
Sorry for the dissertation, I'm just a bit of a penny pincher and stuff like this interests me.
@dubcompanion My dad is a retail store manager and he has to work Thanksgiving He's been in retail since I was little and it has ruined the holidays for him. He usually gets it off since he's the store manager, but his new store is a train wreck.
@disneybaby84 I grew up hating fake trees but two years ago we finally got one on clearance and I am a convert now. I do miss the smell but it's soooo much easier and less expensive.
@disneybaby84 Is that a thing? I had assumed that all people allow their pets to interact with their babies, since they live in the same house. We definitely plan to allow our kitty to be with the babies. We'll watch her closely at first since she still has claws, but I'm hoping she will love them! Plus, kitty and baby snuggles are super duper cute!

@dubcompanion I am right there with you on Black Friday shopping. I've worked in retail for most of my life and typically only "The Holy Trinity" are days given off- Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Once you start cutting into one of the 3 days an employee should be able to spend time with their family, I'm going to have a problem with that. Although I'm not a hardcore Black Friday shopper, I boycott any companies who make their employees go in on Thanksgiving. It's one day FFS.
@peony2418 I can't blame you there- Who can't NOT jam to that song once it comes on?
@serenity13 My sister has a "year long" artificial tree. She decorates it depending upon what holiday is nearing. She'll do one with hearts for Valentine's day, American flags for the 4th of July, ect ect. Don't get me wrong I love the holiday season, but I think working in retail has turned me oh so slightly bitter lol
@DrillSergeantCat That's actually super helpful! Part of the reason I said it's meh in reality is cost and the actual ability to use the type of formula/amounts in the pods. We used Gerber Gentle with DS and that obviously isn't what the BabyNes pods are.
@EALasagna45 I worked in retail for a while, and DH still does, so Black Friday does affect us directly. However, even once he leaves retail, it'll forever stay with me how ridiculous that event has become. I absolutely refuse to partake in it. I'm cool with Cyber Monday because a) it's all online, yay and b) it doesn't impact a "Holy Trinity" holiday (good description of them!)
@kap1988 I'm sorry your dad's having to work so many holidays due to his new store. Once, when I complained to my mom about DH's Black Friday work hours, she said, "Your father is a doctor. He works holidays too sometimes." And I quickly retorted, "That's saving lives. This is retail. It is not life or death!" She didn't have a response to that lol.
I can totally see the added reasoning to wait on Christmas when you live somewhere warmer... for me up here in Maine, all the beautiful fall foliage has mostly died and now our trees are bare, the crisp fall days have already turned to bitter cold ones. some years we have snow by halloween.
@disneybaby84 I'm all for animals and babies together! I once posted a picture on FB of my dog licking my daughters face, and my DH's aunt responded with something about germs. I responded with something along the line of yeah, it's good for her.
