@ReesaAnne16  No this was my second IUI.  A lot of things went better the second time around.  I had two follicles, they were a lot bigger at >20, etc.  I'm still kinda in disbelief.

Are you still on to test this month?  Or do you test next month?

  • Are you still on to test this month?  Or do you test next month?
Testing early November, I'm just catching the tail end of Oct IUI with our 3rd IUI on 10/25 probably

  • Congrats @mrsdrwombat!  I'm so happy for you!

@JWatt5  What an emotional rollercoaster for you!  Glad to hear that you're not out though!

@fivetimesnoluck I'm so sorry to hear that.  Infertility is so confusing sometimes.  My hearts breaking for you.

@jwg9101  Welcome to the board.  I get what you mean about being scared to get your hopes up.  I always try to not get my hopes up but I always end up getting hopeful the last week or so.  Let us know how your IUI goes on Saturday!  I don't test out my trigger like some of the other ladies do.  I like to know a for sure yes or no which a beta gives me so I wait for that.  Fx for you this cycle!

@mrsdrwombat congrats! Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!

As for me, slow growth at CD11 so I started gonal-f and will go back tomorrow (CD13) for another ultrasound. Hoping something is brewing. I also had a Fallopian Tube Recanalization yesterday... not the most pleasant experience but hoping it cleared my right tube and upped our chances... fx!

  • We're starting IUI #3 this cycle...
I had my follicle scan this morning, and now I'm really bumming. First of all, who thinks it's a good idea for a pregnant ultrasound tech to be doing scans at an infertility clinic? I mean I get it, she needs to work too, but can't she be transferred to an ob clinic for the time being. It's just such a slap in the face...

Anyway, what really bummed me out was the fact that I only have 1 dominant follicle this month... last time is was 3! This just sucks...

And to top things off, the nurse thought our IUI might be as early as this Sunday, which would mean not being able to ride in the horse show that morning that I've been looking forward to for months. That would be CD 12!! I've never ovulated that early... Ugg and I've already paid for everything and probably can't get a refund.

    Just really bummed today

  • I updated over in the IF thread on TTGP, but I can't remember if I did here or not. Just ignore me if I did!

I went in for CD 3 b/w and u/s on Monday. The nurse took a long time to read through my charts, and devised a game plan for this cycle. It's my second round of injectables. And being as I only have this and one more injectable cycle left covered with insurance, I'm feeling like we're down to the wire. Anyway, the nurse felt like we should be pregnant by now. (Yeah, us too lady). I've always had good responses to medications (Letrozole and now Gonal-f), H's sperm has been amazing, and my tubes are totally clear. So what gives? She's wondering if maybe my immune system is targeting the sperm/embryo's/entire process. It could be causing anything from inflammation, to essentially killing off sperm or fertilized eggs. So for this cycle they've put me on Prednisone and Low Dose Naltrexone to balance out my immune system. In my head it makes total sense because I have Multiple Sclerosis. So we already know my immune system is overreacting to my own body. Since I only got one mature follicle on Gonal last cycle, she wants to aim for more. (Me too). They've put me on 75iu of Gonal mixed with 75iu of Menopur. Last night was the first night. I'll go back on Monday to check things out. She thinks I may even need to be put on Cetrotide on Monday, if things look like their going towards early ovulation. Then I'll go back again on Wednesday. If everything looks good she's thinking we may have the IUI on Saturday morning. So we'll have just squeaked one last October IUI in.

  • a huge congrats to you @mrsdrwombat!!!!

@ReesaAnne16 I'm so sorry you're bummed - totally understandable and I'm bummed for you! our bodies are so interesting with how they can react so different from month to month...fx that you are able to hold off from a Sunday IUI and enjoy your horse show!!

As for me, counting down until next Thursday when I can POAS. I've really been much better this cycle with not googling every little thing and not trying to get my hands on every piece of information out there. I don't think there is much else for me to read about with IUIs/success stories, etc....my mom even asked how I was feeling yesterday and it took me a second to realize why she was asking! FX that not consuming my thoughts with all things IF during the 2ww will be a positive thing!! Looking forward to going out with my cousin tonight for dinner and to see Jersey Boys!!

  • @Sasha29 Thanks for your input! I talked to my insurance and there doesn't seem to be a limit on IUIs, and I'm not sure what my own RE's limit would be re: the meds. But it's interesting to hear about others whose REs go for more IUIs, like yours. I think we could probably get going, but I talked to DH and we decided (if this cycle is a bust) to just try on our own while we wait for his meds to hopefully take advice. I really appreciate all the advice!

@ReesaAnne16 I'm so sorry about the follicle! That is so frustrating. Are you triggering? My last two IUIs they wanted to do them at CD12, which is very early for me. We did it the first time, but the second time I was out of town, so I pushed for CD14. Is that something you can do--even CD13? (It worked because I did not get a positive OPK while I was out of town, otherwise we would have done TI.)

@mrsdaddario I posted on the other thread, but just saying again that I'm happy about your new protocol. Good luck!
  • Had ultrasound this morning- 4 follies, 2 on each side, all at 16...going to give them a couple more days to grow, trigger Sunday morning, IUI on Monday. I'm torn between hoping they all grow some more and being a little scared because there's four of them! Is that silly? I should just be happy they're growing!
  • @skysong113  Not silly at all!  But I think it is great news.  Always good to have some back-ups!  And I seemed to have some that fell by the wayside as they got closer for my cycles.
  • @skysong113 - way to go on those follies!

Question!! I felt some pain just now around my ovary with the follicles and just cause i have them and the weird thing that happened this week I did one and it's positive!!!! I actually did one yesterday and it was negative. I'm not sure what to do cause the clinic is closed. I think I've seen that some people are told to do them and then call when they get a positive. Gah - the one day I don't have cycle monitoring! Any help would be very appreciated!!
Edit - guess another good question might be will I get a false positive because of the FSH injections?

  • @JWatt5 Are you talking about turning an OPK positive? I'm not sure if the fsh injections would turn one positive. I know they raise estrogen, but no idea about LH. I would HIO just in case it's a true positive. Then I would call your clinic tomorrow as soon as they open (if their open on Saturday's) to tell them what's going on!
  • Thank you @mrsdaddario. @Bababatty said the same on the other thread, so I'm much calmer now thanks to you both!! I'm such a newbie to this. I already bought the trigger shot under they're direction expecting to do it tomorrow after my regular BW and U/S. I'll be leaving a message and setting my alarm for 7am/when the clinic opens!!

  • Had my IUI this morning. It was pretty bad because my cervix is never cooperative. But it only took a minute or two and then it was over. Now I wait. And eat pineapple! I thought it was so cute to see my husband coming out of the grocery store with our pineapple in the bag!!!!

  • @Bababatty  yes we're triggering, so I decided to just accept the timing plan they have for me. Here's hoping it will be worth it. I've already avoided so many things and rearranged my life plans unnecessarily so many times over the last 2 years; I just hope it will all be worth it.

@Beary67 I'm so sorry :( why is the next cycle your last chance with IUI? I would have thought since you had a BFP once with IUI, it would be worth trying it at least a few more times? Here's hoping the next one is the one!

We had our 3rd IUI today and even though I only have 1 follicle, I'm feeling a little more optimistic this cycle. DH count was much better (18.8M this time verse 4M last time) so I guess the extra 2 days of abstinence helped.

I am supposed to be doing a horse show right now, but my doctor said "don't over do it today" and I asked if that meant no riding or jumping and he didn't really give me a strait answer. I decided since I don't want to do anything that could lower our chances, that I would just take it easy today.  It's beautiful out here in WI so I think I'll go watch for a bit.

I hope you all are having a nice fall weekend :)

  • @ReesaAnne16 great numbers!  I agree with you on taking it easy today. As someone who used to ride/show/jump, I think I would have skipped today too. It stinks when you invest so much into shows and your horses, but you have to do what's best for you.

This will be our 4th IUI. Our RE usually only does 3, but since the first 1 resulted I. Pregnancy, he started the count again once we were able to start trying again after the loss. If this one doesn't work, 23 will spend the remainder of the year doing any remaining tests to start IVF in January.   I'm bus hoping this next time works.

And I'm praying 3rd times a charm for you!  <3

  • @jwg9101 FX your IUI is successful!

@beary67 I'm sorry you're out. :-/ I really hope this next cycle is the one for you. If not, good luck with the IVF tests. Do something nice for yourself this weekend.

@ReesaAnne16 I hope your IUI went well. FX for success and a quick TWW! I'm sorry you had to miss the show. Super frustrating, but I'm sure for the best. Enjoy the lovely day.

AF showed today, just in time for the half-marathon I was running. For the first time ever, I managed to beat my uterus into submission with ibuprofen, which never happens when I try to exercise on CD1. The frustration about AF's timing has me less upset about the failure of IUI #3. Anyway, we're going to try on our own for the next three months while DH starts (hopefully) new meds to up his motility. I'll see some of you around the TTTC and TTGP boards. Good luck, all!
  • @Bababatty I hope your half-marathon went well! I know you were worried AF was going to arrive the same day. Way to power through it!!!!
We might be in the same boat as you if our IUI#3 doesn't work; We ordered a supplement for DH that his urologist recommended, so we might take the holidays off, give time for the supplement to work and start IUI's back up in January.

  • Thanks, @ReesaAnne16! The race ended up being a personal best--a minor miracle I think.  :) I hope this IUI works for you, but barring that, that the supplement improves things. Glad I may not be the only one in the waiting-it-out boat, although I hope you don't have to join me. Sounds like you had some good numbers this time, though, which is excellent news. :) Good luck!
  • Well, today did not go as planned...IUI got postponed until tomorrow morning due to DH's sample being too low volume. He is going to try to collect one at home tomorrow morning and I'll take it in and see if it will work. I feel bad for him because he's really upset with himself...I tried to reassure him but it didn't really work. Hopefully tomorrow goes better! :-(
  • @jwg9101  Honestly, I've never tested out my triggers.  It's a very personal decision, but for me, I know seeing a false positive, even though I know 1000% it's a false positive and it's from the drugs and I am not testing to actually see if I'm pregnant but only to see if the hormones are clear, just seeing that line would give me false hope that I can't handle.  I usually test 2 weeks exactly from my IUI date if I don't get my period by then, and if I get negatives on those tests, I actually don't even bother going in for the blood test (although obviously at that point I won't drink anymore).  With triggers, I've never had a period come more than 2 days late, although my RE won't bother with the blood test til 2 weeks and 1 day from the IUI.

@skysong113  My husband can't collect at the clinic.  It's something psychological, his numbers dropped through the floor the one time he tried it for testing (we live about an hour away from his urologist, depending on traffic). It really might be better for him to do it at home as long as you don't live terribly far away, where he's at least more comfortable.  GL!

  • Had my IUI today and officially starting the TWW.  When DH gave his sample the NP commented on his numbers being high and how he has "no issues".  I know she meant it as an odd compliment, but when you have your legs in stirrups because of your jacked up system, it stings a little.

Did you drink alcohol or coffee during your TWW?

FX to everyone who still has an egg in the game and GL to the gals moving on to next month!
  • @Lulumurph I'm in the TWW with you!
I limit my caffeine in general to less than a small cup of coffee each day (usually I'm drinking 1/2 or 1/3 caf). I also don't drink alcohol during the TWW, but it is more to keep DH happy; He gets super worried about the alcohol affecting a fetus so I do it mostly to appease him. I still eat sushi though!! Lots of it!

  • @Sasha29 Thanks for the reassurance. I don't think I could handle that very well either. Seeing any kind of positive that isn't "real" would be devastating. I'm not going to test until the 5th.

@LuluMurph and @ReesaAnne16, welcome to the TWW! This is my first official tww and it sucks so bad already. I have never felt so emotional and all over the place. One minute I'm convinced that I'm not pregnant, will never get pregnant, and should just give up completely. Then the next minute I'm mentally decorating the nursery and planning how we will tell people. I think I'm going nuts! One thing I do know is that all of this mental upset is exhausting. I went to bed at 8pm last night, got up once to use the restroom around 4am and slept soundly through until 8am! That is super rare for me.

I'm trying to stay positive, but it's not working very well. I went in for acupuncture this morning and even that session didn't go so great. Usually it relaxes me, but this time my mind was churning the entire time. I'm a mess!

  • @LuluMurph I have decreased my caffeine intake to about 1.5 cups per day (I usually drink 3-4) and have not been drinking. Although, I did have a glass of wine when I was at dinner with my cousin on Friday just to not raise any questions or suspicions. I know the "I'm on a medication" excuse I have been using with other people would not have worked with her! 3 more days for me!

FX for everyone else still in the 2WW!
    July - September 2016 - 3 negative IUIs
    December 2016 IVF cycle - 12 retrieved, 5 fertilized, 2 frozen, 1 transferred
    August 2017 - baby boy
September 2019 - FET cancelled due to thin lining (tried pills)
November 2019 - FET cancelled due to thin lining (tried patches)
    February 2020 - FET February 6, EDD 10/25/2020

  • @skysong113 I'm sorry you were postponed! I know how frustrated both you and your H must be. I hope that tomorrow goes better!

@lulumurph I have not abstained from alcohol in my TWW at all--but I only drink on the weekends anyway (mostly) and I don't binge drink. Of course none of my IUIs have worked, but I doubt that's the issue.
  • @mrsdaddario that's great news!  I know a lot could happen between now and the IUI, but I am so optimistic for you this cycle!  This is the most follicles you've had, right?

  • @LoweeeK 72hrs!  You got this!!  @jwg9101 and @reeseanne123 when do you test?  I'm testing on Sunday the 5th so I can either cry or celebrate without worrying about work.  I'm with you on the back and forth.  Already scheduled an approximate date for my next IUI baseline BUT I've got a nursery decorated in my head!  This is going to be a loooonnngggg two weeks.....

@Bababatty I read up on your posts and so sorry none of yours have worked yet :(  stay strong and take time to heal your mind and body <3
