  • Ugh how scary @marriedhamstermom! Something very similar happened to me once and it was awful. Glad you guys are ok!
  • @floatingelephy so sorry for your loss. We lost a pup three years ago to the day yesterday and while we still miss him, it gets easier to remember him happily with time!

@marriedhamstermom that's terrifying! So glad you're okay. Sounds like you kept a clear head and handled the situation incredibly well!

@Xstatic3333 I don't have personal experience, but my mom had Lyme a few years ago and the symptoms were very obvious. She was ill to the point of not being able to work. I know it's easy for me to say, but please try not to beat yourself up. Especially with it being late in the season and how cold it was last week (I think we live in the same general area), there's no way you could have anticipated this! I'll be thinking of you.
  • I'm so sorry to hear about your dog @floatingelephy! We had to put my dog to sleep a few years ago, so I totally understand. They are members of the family and it's hard to lose them.
  • @Xstatic3333 sorry you're going through the unknown part right now. I have this feeling everything's going to be okay. So, ya know, it will be. :)

@marriedhamstermom That sounds terrifying and I don't know what I would have done. So glad you got out of there safely.
  • I'm sorry @Xstatic3333! I know it's so stressful waiting. But the good part is that you got the tick and were able to send it to UMass. So if it comes back negative you know you have nothing to worry about! If you lost the tick I'm sure you'd be beating yourself up over it for much longer. Fingers crossed for you!!

  • @floatingelephy I'm so sorry you're having to go through this! I really can't even imagine and I'm sending lots of hugs and T & P your way!

@marriedhamstermom That is so scary!! I'm so glad you guys are ok! Like your H said, it was probably more than just road rage but seriously, WTF is wrong with people?!? I hate driving because I get so mad when people drive like morons and don't pay any attention.

@Xstatic3333 That whole situation sucks! I hope everything comes back ok and you're able to relax :)

  • Make your cake @homemake, and make it delicious. And happy birthday!
  • @Xstatic3333 Please don't beat yourself up. Ticks have become way more of a problem in recent years and I wouldn't have even thought to look there either. FX you're okay.

@marriedhamstermom that is so scary. I'm glad you and H are okay. Happy Anniversary!

@homemake not lame at all! What kind of cake are you making? And happy birthday!!
  • And @Xstatic3333 don't feel guilty, I know easier said than done. But, it's not like you found a tick and placed it on you or something. At least you are being proactive about it now, that's the most important part!
  • @Xstatic3333 Don't beat yourself up.  I know you feel guilty. I felt the same way last week when I stood too close to the stove and heated my tummy. Remember that babies are resilient. Give yourself some peace of mind that at least you FOUND the tick.  I mean,  that was a pretty ridiculous spot! I would definitely call your MW, though,  just to be sure.  You're doing all the right things and taking all the proper precautions.  You can't go back in time,  but at least right now you're doing everything you can. I will be praying for you that you did not contract Lyme disease. Hugs to you.

@marriedhamstermom holy shit! I think your husband is right and that it was a robbery attempt.  My God,  I would have been scared shirtless! Thank God your husband was there with you to talk you through what to do next! I'm sorry you didn't have the full enjoyment of your anniversary,  but the most important thing is that you did end up enjoying it because all three of you (including baby) were safe! I would probably notify the police too, that this happened.  If it was truly a robbery attempt, the police should know about it.
Just yesterday, I was thinking about how vulnerable I've started to feel ever since I got the BFP.  Before, I was totally carefree and felt strong anywhere I went.  But now,  I've suddenly become afraid to walk at night from the parking lot to my apartment,  sleep alone without husband,  etc. Baby changes your attitude so much about everything.  Now, I'm not such a risk taker anymore.  Things like what happened to you would scare the crap out of me.
Anyways,  end rant.  Glad you guys are all okay! And a very happy happy anniversary to you!!

@homemake Happy early birthday to you! And ya,  it's totally okay for you to make a cake for yourself! You enjoy the shit out of Thai cake,  girl!

  • @Xstatic3333 I'm glad your husband seems to be more knowledgeable than the doctors, I'm pulling for you so hard and I'm sorry you even have to deal with this right now!  (((Hugs)))

@marriedhamstermom that is SCARY! Thankfully your DH was with you and you're safe and sound now.

@leslie1331 I chuckled to myself when I threw on my nasty stained uggz for my HDBD, but it was chilly and wet out and I didn't want to get my nice boots all yucky. Back in style though? Meh.
  • Happy early birthday @homemake!!

I've often made cake for the family (myself) for no reason at all! No shame.

  • Thanks guys! Yea I have a hard time believing it was just road rage. I mean at my angriest on the road I've flipped someone off but I've never screamed at anyone or gotten out of my vehicle, though I guess you never know what people are going through. We did call the police and gave a quick report of it in case it was a robbery but unfortunately we were bad witnesses and didn't catch the license plate or have a real good description of the people. People We are all safe though and that's what is important! I think we learned a lot too like I had left my phone in the backseat as I frequently do, which was pretty dumb because if I had been alone it would have been hard to reach if things escalated further and I needed to call 911. I also wished we'd had something like a baseball bat in the car, though DH was right and the best thing we did was to just get out of there as safely as possible.

@AfKash I definitely feel more vulnerable now that I'm pregnant. I know DH is more protective of me too. I think it's normal and our minds are preparing for us to be responsible for another little being.

  • @Xstatic3333 Ugh, I am sorry you have to wait, I am sure it's stressful! And don't beat yourself up. As you said, the tick was in a really weird spot (who would think to check for ticks there?), and at least you got it out intact. I hope the lab results on the tick come back fast, and negative! I'll be interested to hear what your midwives say.

@floatingelephy I am so sorry about your dog :( My sister and her H had to put their dog down last year, and she asked me to be there (at their house) for support while it happened. It was SO hard to go through, and it was not even my dog. When I think about having to put my own dog down, it almost makes me cry. I know it's cliche, but it will soften with time. Take care of yourself.

@marriedhamstermom WTF? That is REALLY scary. I am sorry you had to deal with that stress, but I am glad you and H were able to avoid a direct confrontation (or being robbed).

  • @Xstatic3333 they had me on doxycycline both times. I have no idea if that's safe during pregnancy and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it's in a totally different drug group from penicillin--might be worth looking into though? I believe I was on it for two weeks the first time, the second time was over a month. It worked for me both times though!
