@Xstatic3333 I don't think you're overreacting at all... I'm with you on hoping the MW office goes ahead and gives you some antibiotics since you know there was a 72 hour bite time.
@Xstatic3333 how frustrating! I'm glad the tick is being tested and I pray it comes back negative. Penicillin allergies can be so tricky because so many people believe they are allergic due to a vague reaction during childhood. An allergist I knew told me a lot people who have been told they are allergic aren't. I wish they would have recommended a penicillin skin test to be sure.
I once had a patient I tested for Lyme years after she had been exposed. She had been my patient for a year and we mainly were working on her obesity, depression and anxiety. She had recurrent headaches as well and was referred to a neurologist who found nothing. Right before her insurance was about to expire she mentions she had been bitten by a tick five years earlier but never thought anything about it. I ordered tests for Lyme and they came back positive. The last I heard from her she was trying to get insurance coverage. Her symptoms were pretty generalized including recurrent headaches, joint aches and fatigue. Im glad in this case you are receiving attention immediately.
@foxrosy the penicillin thing is interesting because I have to tell people I'm allergic in any medical capacity but I don't even remember what my reaction is. I wonder if I'm actually still allergic or it's like what you said....
For the record, @Xstatic3333, I don't think anyone is side-eyeing you about antibiotics! This is scary, and I would be freaking out, too. (Confession: I low-level freaked about my flu shot hurting my baby, and felt really anxious until I felt kicking the following morning.) Keeping my fingers crossed that all works out well for you!

@homemake so many times I had new patients they would say they were allergic. When I asked them what the reaction most usually said they were not sure, but it happened during childhood and they were told they were. Of course many people DO have a true penicillin allergy. It just sucks in xstatic's case because it's such a good one for her during pregnancy. I think for other people we more readily accept what the patient says because there are so many alternate options for antibiotics if anything were to come up.
@foxrosy chronic/undiagnosed Lyme is so scary! I'm glad you were able to figure it out for your patient.
My midwives just called, and they are awesome and explain things so well. They said that studies show that amoxicillin and other non-doxycycline antibiotics have not been shown to have a preventative effect, so that's why they don't advise using them until I have symptoms. Doxy can, but it's totally out in pregnancy. They also confirmed that the most current research shows no link between Lyme contracted during pregnancy and a risk to the baby. I feel a lot better now. Medical professionals who explain things to you are really worth their weight in gold
@marriedhamstermom I'm so glad you did call the police. Even though you weren't able to give them any specifics, at least the police knows now that this is going on.
Guys, the prego brain is strong today. Not only did I think it were March, but I felt like someone should create a website where I can save all the photos of cribs I'm looking at to refer to later. Sigh.
Date night resulted in DH being super sweet and buying me a fire pair of booties that I probably won't even be able to wear in three months but idc. They're the cutest things I've ever seen and that makes it a good day.
Gotta rave about H tonight.. today (and overnight until tomorrow) is the two year anniversary of the night I was raped. He knew I wouldn't be sleeping tonight, so he set up the air mattress in the living room and bought popcorn and snacks so we can stay up watching movies all night. I mean, I knew I would be crying tonight, but I didn't expect to cry happy tears. I love this man.
@srscott3 I am so sorry that this day has to happen to you and that piece of scum even has to enter your mind. But it defiantly seems like you have found yourself an amazing H. Try to let that amazing H of yours take your mind as far away as possible.
@srscott3 It is so wonderful that you have a husband who is so considerate and loving, especially during such a difficult anniversary for you both. I hope you are able to get through these next few days as smoothly as possible!
@srscott3 Your DH sounds like a good man. It's great you have someone that attentive and supportive in your life. I know it's not something you will ever forget, but hopefully you'll continue on and heal together with all the love and support you both deserve.
@srscott3 what a lovely thing to do & what an amazing husband! I've was thinking of you yesterday & i hope that you got through the day & night & continue to move forward (i am all too aware of how difficult that is). Sending you all the creepy internet hugs! Xxx
