@Xstatic3333 oh no!!! Did you already notify your PCP or OB? Did you manage to get it out intact?
I just found it now and will call first thing in the AM. I'll call my PCP first-I know the OB will send me that way. It had actually dislodged itself and I found it when it was moving around, so it's intact. Again, it was a really weird spot. I have it in a bag so we can send it for testing.
Dr. Google says that this shouldn't be a risk to the baby since I'll be right on top of starting treatment early if needed. Selfishly, I'm a little worried that since I can't take Doxycycline the treatment just won't be as fully effective for me as it normally would be. I'm also really mad at myself for letting this happen. I'm outdoorsy, but this has never happened before in my life, and I let it happen now?
@Xstatic3333 I can understand your frustration, but try to be easy on yourself. Crazy things happen, and hopefully everything will end up fine. Don't blame yourself. The good news is you got it out intact and still have it so it can be sent for testing. Fingers crossed that all of this can be put behind you very soon!
Omg so at like 130 today my neighbor two doors down calls me to tell me that my dog walked into her house and is sleeping on her couch.
I assume the guy doing my tile left the door open and she went outside to look at stuff, then got shut out and looked for the first open door to decide she lives there now.
The weirdest part is we all came back in after work and the guy didn't even notice that he lost my dog.
@Xstatic3333 please don't be so hard on yourself! Ticks happen, and they suck, there's no way you "let" this happen. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this right now, I'm glad you're getting it tested though!
I almost definitely will @PerraSucia. What I'm curious about is if they'll put me on antibiotics right away as a precaution. The test might not show anything for a few days. The #1 antibiotic to treat Lyme is category D, and the backup is amox, which I'm allergic to. There is a third. Just hoping it'll do the job if needed.
@Xstatic3333 oh no I'm sorry you have to deal with this right now! I'm glad you were able to get it intact for testing and fingers crossed everything will be ok
@Xstatic3333 Oh no! I'm glad it came out intact at least. I'm sure the docs have had this happen before with a pregnant patient, so they'll know how to handle it!
@PerraSucia I can't believe your dog was napping at the neighbor's house! Now that you know she's ok, that's one of those stories you'll be telling for years to come.
Thanks so much guys! It really should all be fine from everything I'm reading. I'm just glad I noticed it and got the tick. I was wearing a skirt all day so it could easily have fallen off without me noticing it.
@perrasucia I don't think you meant it this way but that was the cutest story! My big dog would high tail it to squirreltown and the little one would just sit there in a daze. How did your dog get inside your neighbors house ? Did she find it amusing?
@homemake she has the front door open with a baby gate and my tillydog just jumped right over it to go hang out in her house. She's a people dog. That's for sure.
Oh my goodness @Xstatic3333! Having just dealt with the rabies scare myself, I am so so sorry you're dealing with this. I'm so glad you have the tick intact and seem to be in the best possible scenario given the situation (which, it's a crappy situation, don't get me wrong...It just could be worse). Please keep us updated and as PP have said, don't be too hard on yourself. Trust you're not the first person to have this happen during pregnancy.
Chances are you're totally fine. I waited on antibiotics until the tick test results for DD. It came bag negative so she didn't need anything. You can probably wait a few days before taking anything. Fingers crossed for you but I'm sure you're good
Holy crap, I've missed a lot today. Trying to catch up.
@HeatSparks cute family! @Xstatic3333 I hope you didn't contract anything from the tick!! And I forgot who it was whose husband had an interview, today. But it looks like he may get the job! FX for you both!!
You guys rock! After more research I really think it should be fine. Lyme disease while pregnant SOUNDS awful, but it neither passes to the baby nor causes birth defects. It can impact the placenta if it goes untreated, but mine won't, and even though I'm in a high-Lyme area only about 25% of ticks carry it. I'm taking it seriously but feeling ok.
It was kind of where leg, butt, and lady bits all meet. Definitely not a place you can see, even when checking yourself for ticks in a full length mirror. If I'd mustered the energy for sex over the weekend H might have found it, but fail there.
Man, what an action-packed evening I missed! Glad you're feeling calmer about the tick, @Xstatic3333. Fingers crossed that testing shows it to be Lyme-free!

Thanks @Mamallamallama. It's kind of an occupational hazard in my life. H has had it a couple of times (he's a forester) and has had ticks in much worse places than where mine was. I'm just pissed it happened while I'm pregnant. Patiently waiting for my PCP to open in 1 minute...
How many of you are going to be starting maternity leave before baby is born? I'm going to be working up until the day that I go into labor. I'm jealous of all of you that are able to use some of your leave early!
We get 6 weeks paid leave before our due date, but if the mom doesn't want to take all of the she doesn't have to. I plan on working until Jan 31st (DD Feb 15th). I figure this isn't my first rodeo, 2 weeks is plenty enough.
I'll be working till labor. With DD, I was almost 42 weeks before they finally went ahead and induced, so working till the end will help me stay occupied if this one decided she isn't ready to come out yet too. I work in an office in a hospital, so it's not a bad place for labor to start:)
Yes! I work in a research institute on the hospital campus, so the delivery room is, oh, 5 minutes' walk from my office. Whew!
My oldest was so cute and sweet yesterday! When I came home from work she was waiting on our front porch and ran up to me in the driveway. (Important side note:The day before she made friends with the neighbor kid behind us- Owen. ) so she had tears in her eyes and was choking back sobs and said "EVAN MOVED!" and I was like "what? Who's Evan? A friend from school?" And she said "no!! You know... my NEW friend! He moved! He's gone!" And it took me a while to put 2+2 together. So I asked "oh you mean Owen? No honey he didn't move." And still crying she said "yes he did! He's not outside and I SAW a moving truck. He's gone! My new friend Evan is gone!" It was so sad and sweet. It took a while to convince her that he didn't move, I didn't want to bug the mom as she is due with her second baby any minute. Poor girl.
DD1- Aug11 Angel Baby- June13, said goodbye Oct12 DD2- Aug13 DD3- due Feb17
+1 for working as long as I can I left work the Friday before I was Induced on a Monday. I was miserable at that point with prodormal labour for 3+ weeks... and a stubborn baby who wouldn't go into full blown Labour on her own! (We had the potential for complications due to her blood cord so we chose the induction to avoid some of them). This time I probably not returning to this job so... we will see how much will power I have to get here at 38 + weeks really hoping to avoid an induction- so money and distractions are a good thing!
Goodness I missed a lot!
I am so sorry about the tick! They are awful this year. @Xstatic3333
I love how she said we're always so mean. If you are aware that we don't like new threads started about nothing... then you should have known better than to do just that!

@PerraSucia that's crazy! So glad your dog was ok. I'd be pissed!
