  • @canavara @katesmama0706 mine is doing that too, and since my linea nigra is crooked, my whole stomach looks like the work of a drunk person!
  • Loading the player...
  • Also have the half innie/outie here! Baby has decided to put his butt out to the right all the time so I'm also pretty lopsided @marynog!
  • Anybody else having  lot of Braxton hicks? What do yours feel like? I'm having low abdominal pressure and hardening. It almost feels like the baby is getting shrink-wrapped and while they're not painful, my lower belly is tender to the touch. I read Braxton hicks should be up higher on my bump?
  • Even though I have an anterior placenta I am pretty sure all my organs are being shifted to my left side.  Baby girl is way to the right.  I can't lay on my left side comfortably and I pretty much only feel/see movements on the right side and ocassionally in the center.

  • @BAJDesigns mine have been low too and I really wanna say they started low with DD too. As I got more pregnant they took over my whole bump but for now they're all below belly button level, while the top remains normal as can be. I can tell they change based on how baby is laying though. I remember DD balling herself up and pushing out to one side making only that spot hard too so occasionally I wonder if it's BH or just this baby doing that too but I've been able to time a few bouts so I'm leaning BH.
  • FL/GA/Carolina Moms: how are you doing with the impending storm? We're on pins and needles about whether school and work will be closed tomorrow/Friday. I've been stressing DH out making him get all the hurricane prep stuff done since he's off work. Thankfully, he got some waters and food stuff yesterday lunchtime because the shelves were empty by the time I got off work. Keeping the East coast in my prayers! Stay safe!

Children are like casseroles; it takes a lot to mess them up.

  • @PMForbie They've already closed my work for the rest of the week because the library often becomes FEMA headquarters. I think we'll be fine since we are more inland and don't live in a flood prone area but I'm just waiting to hear if they will be recruiting extra public safety to head towards the coast. I know DH tends to volunteer for those things. Praying all the folks traveling today are safe on the roads!
  • @BAJDesigns I have been having BH as well. The lower part gets kinda tight especially when I walk to fast. They usually don't last more then a minute.
  • I've been having Braxton-Hicks on the lower part of my belly too, though I've noticed that I have them more frequently if I'm having a very stressful day. Not sure if it's an actual relationship or if I just get more attuned to them when I'm already worrying about something else.
  • @PMForbie

Florida Mama over here. We have a wedding in OKC this weekend so we are flying out tomorrow, hopefully before the storm hits. I am a mess though, I have to leave my pups. We have a house sitter who will watch the dogs if the vet closes, but I am so distraught over leaving my dogs. Pregnancy hormones probably playing a huge part in this, but I can't rationalize the situation. We live in Jacksonville which is on the coast, our house is about 20 miles from the coast on a hill so we will probably be fine, but I just imagine those flooding pictures where the people are on the roof and they are being rescued. My dogs can't swim!

From the last hurricane scare we bought 5 gallons of water. I will probably fill up some more just in case we need it. We have a fair amount of food in the house peanut butter and bread to last for days. Nothing fresh because we were preparing to leave for the weekend anyway.

I am an Okie girl who has survived some of the most catastrophic tornadoes in the state, and this hurricane has me more worried than anything.

  • @AmRe214, I would be a mess too. I told DH if we stayed at other people's houses (we are in a condo), we are not leaving the furbabies (and now a feather baby) at home. I keep thinking of a tree falling through the roof and scaring them or them trying to escape. Already planning on corralling them so they don't hide if worst case scenarios happen, but I'm really more anxious about the afterwards. We had no power for a week after hurricane Charlie and weren't prepared, so I'm going over the top in making sure we aren't suffering.

Safe travels to OK! If you're leaving in the morning, you should be fine. All forecasts are saying it'll hit FL later in the evening Thursday.

  • @PMForbie @AmRe214 Florida mom here too. We live in Tampa and I think we will be OK, though. It has been raining pretty bad the past few evenings. I am worried that my fiancee's flight will have delays or cancellations. He is supposed to arrive tomorrow around noon from Oklahoma City. We live in a flood area so that is always concerning and live near the water so storm surge waves concern me too. So far schools are open in my area and my job hasn't said anything, yet. I wonder what it will look like Thursday/Friday here. Hope you both stay safe & dry!

  • @AmRe214 Eeek, sorry you're having to leave your dogs behind--hopefully it doesn't strengthen or anything and passes you by uneventfully! I grew up in coastal SC and remember Hugo hitting on my 5th birthday and it being this crazy experience (we left our cats at home and went inland, which ended up getting hit worse because it produced a bunch of tornados / flooding). Every time tornado sirens go off here, in the midwest, and people freak out, of course I take it seriously, but it's nothing like those flashbacks of hurricane season as a kid!
  • @BAJDesigns I get the shrink wrapped feeling when I'm super full (so, after most meals) or after exercising a lot. It seems to go away when I lay down on my side. I, too, have wondered at what point should I worry, but as others have posted, with no actual pain/menstural cramp feelings or spotting and baby movement still the same, I try not to worry. I also get suuuuper painful RLP at the end of the day when I'm really active, but it's gone by morning. I've told these things to my OB and they just say yep, sounds about right. Honestly, I think everything is just going to worry me (/all of us) about this baby forever!!
  • @newyearsbaby5 I agree, I will always find something to worry about til he's here in my arms! I guess particularly with these Braxton hicks I just don't have any prior sensation to compare to! Like, in first trimester I knew what nausea would feel like, but with contractions? No idea!
  • Sending good thoughts to all in the path of the hurricane!

This is definitely random: There are so many pregnant women at my office this year! I work for a very boys-clubby engineering firm, the company is 30 years old and they didn't have a written maternity leave policy until this year, so it's that level of no-shit-giving when it comes to young moms. Not sure what's in the water this year,  but there are 5 of us currently pregnant/recently pregnant (out of about 200 people in the office, maybe 80 of which are women). HR is astonished.

On a less random note, good luck and well wishes to all of you dealing with hurricanes! My parents used to live in South Florida and it was always a nerve wracking season. Stay safe and please keep us posted!

  • @Ashleybrandon1990 I do the exact same thing. I'm already prepared to tell the nurses tomorrow that they need to subtract weight to account for the winter socks and long pants.

  • Yep this winter I'll be stripping down to skivvies every time I weigh myself. "That sweater MUST be like 5 pounds!"

  • I always weigh myself naked at home first so I don't feel so bad when I'm at the OBs office. It helps.

  • This morning I woke up at 7:30 which is unusual. My DD is usually up making noise by 6:00. When I looked on the monitor, she was still sound asleep in her bed. I got up to get dressed and I heard banging in her room- but she was still sleeping in her bed on the monitor. So freaky!! The monitor ended up being frozen and she was indeed awake playing on her room. I have no idea how long she'd been up. At least she was in a good mood! We've been having lots of issues with our monitor so it's definitely time for a new one.

  • @cjs260, the east coast of FL had mandatory evacuations, so most people are out of the really bad path unless they're in the medical field. I'm in Orlando and it's going to be bad, some are saying worse than Hurricane Charley in 04, but we're expecting either sustained winds if 60-70 mph or 70+ depending on if the storm shifts further westward. My mom's county has a mandatory curfew from 5am tomorrow to 7am Sat and I think mine will be doing that as well. It's getting crazy. We're still deciding if we want to pack up our pets & go to someone's house or tough it out in our condo, but DH is on a sale and not sure when he's getting home. I'm such a planner & not knowing what we're doing is driving me nuts.

One good thing about hurricanes: home is the cleanest it's been since I got pregnant and I think it's kicked in my nesting drive lol.

  • Add me to the no shoes on the scale at the doctor's office. I may start taking off jewelry. Lok
  • Man everyone here must have awesome nurses who do their weigh ins. The ones at my OB act like I'm crazy for asking them to hold my purse during weigh in. It's like 8 freaking pounds.
  • I hang my purse up, my OB has hooks by all the scales to hang it up. I have stopped taking off my shoes because it's not worth it to me but they are just ballet flats usually...not sure how I'll feel about boots but those are a pain to take on and off so I'll probably just suck it up (unless they start commenting on my weight).

Just spent the whole day helping with moving us out of our apartment (we're supposed to be out tomorrow by midnight). I haven't actually moved any boxes to our new house or even been over there since we started moving things and I'm terrified to see what our house looks like filled with all of the stuff that is now absent from our apartment... even though we still have more crap to move still:

I'm super excited because this apartment overlooks the noisiest furniture company ever and hopefully between now and baby arrival time, we'll actually get some sleep, since they start doing deliveries at like... 5AM and have trucks coming and going until like 1AM--the past year has been very restless sleep thanks to them :|
  • Hahaha @shlecka btdt! Except random food sitting on top of my belly but I've been so busy/ stressed (and therefore spacey) that I don't just look down after I eat ::eyeroll:: really need to make a better habit of that.....
  • @christac1010 DH just learned how to use nail polish remover for this very reason. Reaching my toes is not worth the energy it uses.
