  • It's October eeee!!!!

H is still OOT until Sunday night so I'm lounging today. I did clean a bit but I don't want to mop soooo.... I'm just going to leave it for H probably  :D

  • Woooo October! My birthday is soon! It's actually "nice" today in FL, 83 as opposed to the usual 90. We are driving to Jacksonville for a wedding today and taking a back road, which means no stopping in Gainesville for some Sweetberries custard :( I forced my fiancée to promise me we will stop on the way home tomorrow and he said yes......... you guys are my witness to this testimony. I will be an angry pregnant lady if I don't get my custard, I literally have been dreaming of it for two weeks now.

  • We chose to throw away the desk we've been trying to refurbish for like a year (it feels like). It's become such a hassle for us both, that it's just associated with us bickering now. Oh and it's a total piece of shit, which we didn't really realize until we got down to the nitty gritty of it. Oh well.

  • @TinaBelcher Horror movies are totally my game plan too! Sadly I can't find any on basic cable upstairs. WTF. It's October! I expect nonstop Halloween themed programming!

@cjs260 I'm sorry about the desk. I know how hard you were working to refurbish it. It's ridiculous the things that cause bickering nowadays. Thank you hormones and nesting.

I lit an apple spiced candle. I can smell it upstairs and it smells amazing (DH is downstairs with it)! I just took a nap with my cat, because it's pouring rain and 50 degrees here. Perfect fall napping weather. Also I was having a bit of a pity party for myself, because I'm missing my alumni game today (HUGE drinking event) and all my favorite fall activities aren't recommended for pregnant women (drinking apple cider sangria, hayrides, haunted houses). So boo. Good thing I love this little Peanut.
  • Hooray October!! Plans for today include making strawberry shortcake (I know it's a summer thing, but I saw the recipe online and needed to have it) and watching Luke Cage on Netflix.

@christac1010 omg apple spice candle! Now I need one too.
  • @nolemama24 It is still hotter than hell in Florida! Blah!

@christac1010 I've had my fall candles burning since September 1st. Lol I don't have an apple spice, but now I need one.

I'm hoping to pull DH away from football to go look at bookshelves for the baby room. We have a $100 off $200 coupon from Ashley's so I hope I can find something that will work.
  • I was looking forward to the new IT movie. But then this whole clown epidemic happened. ...

  • @christac1010 well crap. I just went on a pretty long hayride today.  I mentioned to DH that if I was farther along, it might have put me into labor!
  • @lindsladle15 I'm sure you're fine! Our local haunted hayride has a huge notice on the website for medical conditions in which you shouldn't ride. Plus you get off and walk two or three times before ending by walking through a completely dark haunted house. I'm pretty clumsy and DH is worried that I would hurt myself.

Soooooo anyone have suggestions for freshening air vents in the house? There's a piece of ductwork that goes from basement (with a vent in the workroom/ where the litter boxes are) up to right next to the front door. The air has been off for over a week so no forced/ circulating air. And I'm smelling litter through the freaking vent!! I clean the boxes regularly but the slightest smell is always there and I'm hating smelling it when I walk in the front door!

I thought about getting one of those charcoal bags and hanging it inside the vent... any other tried and true ideas?
  • Just spent all day doing registry stuff at babies r us and target and I'm pooped. The husband just left me home alone to go to some tool auction. I'm excited to be alone but I know I need to wash dishes and do laundry and put he bedroom back together (we finally moved back in after renovating). But all I want to do is lay on the couch and watch lifetime movies.

  • @cjs260 Oh man, is that the desk you've been trying to strip black paint from? Sorry it turned out to be such a hassle if so!

@christac1010 Yessss, fall candles are the best. That, apple cider (although lame that it can't be spiked right now!), and wool socks. Preferably at the same time.

@TinaBelcher We tape fabric softener sheets over ours while we were working on our house (previous owners had a large, hairy dog so everything in the house smelled like musty dog smell) and it made everything smell amazing again.
  • So today my DH friend's wife texted me and asked us to be their newest daughter's God parents.. I was so surprised, first of all because they are DH's friends, text him and ask him. Secondly, we don't really see them. Third, I don't have God parents so it's such a foreign thing for me....

I had to somehow say no, personally it's not something that is important to me. Our kids won't have God parents, I don't, no one in my family does. She told me not to feel obligated after my lack of response and then said that her cousins already said they would. Sooo...it was so awkward but I just said..."do your cousins have God parents? If so I think they may be a better choice ". I felt so bad and it was so awkward but I really just wish his friend would've texted him, instead of the wife texting me.
  • @canavara Yeah. The black paint desk. Pretty much the last person ruined it by putting black acrylic paint over a varnish. Then, they replaced the original cubby interior with a crappy plywood replacement that we didn't realize until we sanded it off today. And we still hadn't gotten all the paint off. So we decided it wasn't worth another two-three weekends worth of work when we have the funds to buy something that we can just move in that will be just as pretty. Also, woot for the hot pants!!

@christac1010 Boo missing out on the fun! I miss bonfires with beer so very much. But I had no idea about the hayrides! Though logically it does make sense...unfortunately.

  • My husband is off hunting and part of me hopes he doesn't manage to kill any innocent deer but part of me hopes he shoots one first thing in the morning so he can come home sooner.  Sorry for the ill-wishes, deer of Vermont.

  • @canavara SO JEALOUS re sigur ros. How were they live?

I spent about four hours yesterday in hell on earth aka IKEA. We're in a one bed so we were looking for space efficient items for baby storage. People were walking around looking at it like it was a museum so we had to continually weave in and out of people to get to the three sections we actually wanted to look at. But it's done and I'm glad I got it out of the way before I'm super pregnant.

  • DH tried to be sweet and woke up early to make us breakfast. ... he pretty much cut off the tip of his thumb. We're debating going to urgent care to see if he needs stitches. I guess it's the thought that counts?
  • Oh no! Is the bleeding stopping with pressure to the wound? If so, they would probably just glue it instead of stitching, which you can do without a clinic trip.

  • So yesterday I fell.  I slipped on some water on our tile floor and did some acrobatics trying to catch myself.  I ended up landing on my knees but today my back is killing me.  DH is at work all day so I am home alone with 4 kids and 2 dogs and all I want to do is curl up in bed with a heating pad.
End Rant.  Just feeling sorry for myself today.

  • I was getting ready for church this morning as my 3 year old finished breakfast. I hear crying, and he had thrown up on his tray. Into the bathtub he went for a quick cleanup. I don't know if he's actually sick or just gagged for some reason. He's been known to do that, so we stayed home this morning. He's one that never acts sick even when he is. He had a loose bowel movement after that, so I'm thinking there is a stomach thing going on. He still has all kinds of energy though, lucky me.
  • @cjs260 It finally stopped bleeding after a while. He made himself a bandage out of gauze and duck tape because... men. And he keeps complaining about how much it hurts because... men. I mean I'm sure it hurts but I don't want to hear it when my milk ducts are swollen and LO has a foot in my ribs.

It sounds like everyone is having a rough Sunday morning! Hopefully the rest of the day is better for everyone!
  • Went to babies r us and target yesterday to work on registry. Was nice to just be out with the Hubby.  It's about an hour from home so we also went to dinner.  Was tired and sore when we got home tho. Didn't sleep well and today I'm just an emotional pregnant women! Laid in bed and cried for no good reason. Hubby got freaked out and wanted to cancel his boys day harley riding trip today. Told him to go that him staying here wouldn't help! Just needed a little pity party. Got up went and bought a donut and chocolate milk and now attempting to get house work done! Crazy busy and hectic week planned at work plus have to work on Saturday.  Boo

Has anyone figured out how to stop SBS (saggy butt syndrome) while wearing maternity jeans?! Every time I stand up or walk a bit I have to pull my pants up. So annoying & obviously wearing a belt is counterproductive. My sweet husband was trying to be nice the other day. I came home from work & gave him a kiss & he did the usual butt grab & then says, "babe, your pants are lose, are you losing weight?" (Trying to be complimentary.) I looked at him like he was insane & reminded him I'm growing a human so losing weight is the exact opposite of what's happening right now. Lol... men.

    ETA: fixed auto-correct. lol

  • @cjs260 bummer about the desk. Sounds like a good decision to cut your losses though. We are constantly trying to weigh when it's smart to DIY & save $ vs just go buy. It's tough because time is valuable these days!

  • I ordered all new straps, inserts and covers for my infant car seat today. it's the first preparation thing I've done in weeks. I can't wait until it all comes in.

I also messaged my strolled company about new straps/buckles for it. I didn't see where I could order any online.
  • Rough day all around,  you guys! Sick kids, injured husbands, sad feels, no custard...here's hoping that everyone's day improves!!

@marynog sorry you're not having a good day. We've all been there.  Hang in there & it will turn around soon!

ETA: I'm now thinking you're referencing everyone's day (duh). Cheers to all! As Dory says, Just keeping swimming....

  • @kelseyh62 haha I was :) And as you said, good days and bad days, it'll all turn around. And we have forum friends to commiserate :)
  • I've had such a busy week getting prepared for my grandma's memorial service this weekend. Lots of family here. It's so hard to focus on such a huge family loss when I'm constantly running after our toddler and worrying about what she's doing. I just feel like I cant properly grieve.

Sounds like we could all use a big cup of hot chocolate and whip cream and wrap up in a blanket and just take a nap.
  • I just pulled out alllllll the Halloween decorations!!  :):):)

  • @kelseyh62 no advice but I have the same problem. It's so annoying. I wore a pair of maternity tights and they were a disaster. I just keep assuming as my bump grows I'll have to keep pulling them up less ha

  • @kelseyh62 when you find the solution to saggy butt syndrome, let me know. Lol! As for the desk, we do furniture refurbishes all the time, like 80% of our furniture is stuff we've redone. But sometimes you just get a lemon, and you don't know it until you get into it. And this was very much a lemon, haha!

@underthesea I'm so sorry about your family's loss. I hope that everything calms down and you get the opportunity to grieve soon. Hugs your way!

  • @hayhay87 They were really good! They didn't have an opening band, so they did 2 whole sets and it was a really good mix of some of their older work and some new pieces that aren't on any recorded albums yet. I think the best part of it was whoever was doing the lighting and stage effects--they kept having these light beams floating in the background that were shaped like birds that were choreographed to the music. Just all around amazing.

@ladysaceb Oh no, I hope you feel better! Glad you didn't land on your bump or anything.

@christac1010 Is your husband's finger doing okay now? That's a terrible place to get cut since there's so many nerves there.
