Hi, I am a mom and a BA student at the
University of Amsterdam doing an anonymous, non-commercial linguistic study on
maternal language. May I share my academic link with your community? The guidelines
say no surveys with monetary gain but this is purely academic research questionnaire
with no monetary gain is that ok? Thanks 😊

Re: Baby Sleep Questions
Today I set him down and he slept 30 min on his own. Tried to pat him and give pacifier to fall asleep again but no luck. He seemed happy so we got up. Ten min later he is screaming and clearly exhausted. It is a massive fight and takes a half hour to get him to sleep again (in my arms!)
Is this what everyone else does?
Sleep books are no help. They never give specific enough examples. Should I just let him stay in my arms? Keep fighting for bassinet and assume it will take a week of tears and exhaustion? Something else?
Is he grumpy or content when awake? If he's grumpy it could be an issue with sleep transitions like Preston has (but Preston is happy because...). He could just be ready for more wake time. Preston is awake for about 2 hours in between naps. His first nap of the day I normally encourage to be longer by rocking and pacifier but the others aren't very long at all and he perfectly happy.
Eta: I talked with DH and turns out he has always been rolling him back to his back and he just so happened to roll fully on his tummy again by the time I woke up. Everything i read online says to simply put baby back on their backs of they start to cry but is that because of the "back to sleep" SIDS thing or because that's what actually helps and gets then used to the motion of rolling tummy to back?
I have diligently kept days bright & noisy & night time dark & quiet. He spits out pacifiers. He screams in the bath so that doesn't calm him down. He kicks his way out of swaddles. He stares at lights but pitch black makes him cry. He will also only nap in my arms during the day. The second I stand up his eyes shoot open whether he's been asleep for 5 minutes or 20 minutes. I have a fan going & a low light in an area he can't see.
I want to desperately find something else that works as I am going back to work in a month & his dad & daycare workers will need to know how to get him to sleep. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated!
Well o tried it and while he still woke up and fussed when I put him in the crib, we didn't have to pick him up and work the gas out. I wonder if this is a leap thing but now the only time we will be out down without waking is the MOTN feeds. He goes down fine for naps as long as he is in his crib and swaddled but we don't swaddle at night cause he rolls around. Could that be the issue or is this just a phase and I should just wait and see before I jump to change things?
He's never been swaddled at night.
Well normally he goes down instantly in the middle of the night. Last night though we woke up very often.
I bought mine at buy buy baby and used the 20% off coupon so that helped with the price (I was surprised how expensive it was). So if you live somewhere with buy buy baby then go there!
