Re: Symptoms Thread w/o 9/19

  • @AfKash I do not have to use it every day, or even every month. It really only flares up when I get sick or have an allergy problem.

As a kid it was much worse, and I saw a specialist, an allergist, was on the maintenance inhalers, etc. Now I don't really need the daily maintenance inhaler, I just keep the emergency meds for the 3-4 times a year something flares up (rapid weather change, sickness, or mega pollen).

This year has actually been pretty good, and this is only the 2nd flare up I've had.

  • @foxyroxy Not sure if you already did, but I recommend getting your iron levels checked by your doc before you start taking those supplements.  Too much iron can be toxic not to mention the constipation.

@WinchesterGirl you're so lucky! Good for you.  So, ya then I would say you can continue using your rescue.  But if you end up needing it longer, you probably want to see your doc.

Also, I don't know about the rest of you with allergies but mine are the worst during harvest, even in Chicago.  We've got quite a few farms in the suburbs that do enough damage carried by the winds. Hibernation status.

  • Please help ease my mind. I started cramping maybe 10-20 minutes ago. Like period cramps. The only other time I felt these cramps while pregnant was when I was in labor with my son and the start of my miscarriage. I drank some water, & changed my pants (they were tight and pressing on the area), and now I'm just sitting, trying to relax. I know Braxton hicks can come this early, but last time they felt different. What are your experiences? If they don't ease up, I'm calling the doc.
  • @rmpiszczek I had cramps almost all day last week. I talked to my midwife and she said it was normal and just stretching cramps since the uterus is really growing right now to accommodate the baby. However if they continue or you are still concerned, I would definitely call your doctor for some reassurance!
  • @rmpiszczek - I had mild period cramping yesterday for 10-20 minutes. It went away after I sat down and drank 2 bottles of water, but it freaked me out. My Dr warned me that cramping and RLP is normal as long as there is no bleeding or a change to water like discharge. But it sometimes is just better on our minds to call the Dr and make sure.

I've had cramps too. My midwife said they're normal and to call her if they get worse and concern me. I'd say to rest and take it easy and see if they ease up?

  • @rmpiszczek I've had some cramping that felt sort of like period cramping, but it's been very very short lived (a minute or twinge here and there). I googled it then and found some RLP can feel like period cramps. The way you described it seems more ongoing. Thinking of you, and of course, if it keeps up, call your OB.
  • @rmpiszczek My sister had the same thing happen to her on a regular basis when she was pregnant, and the doctor told her to drink more water (dehydration can trigger cramping apparently), lie down, and try to relax (I know, easier said than done). They usually went away within 45 min. My midwife told me all sorts of cramping and weird pains are normal as long as they are not accompanied by bleeding or a VERY watery discharge. Definitely call your OB/midwife if you're concerned - it will probably ease your mind!

  • Thanks everyone for the reassurance.  The cramps have eased up now. We were flying home all day yesterday and I tried to drink plenty of water, but it must not have been enough. I never had cramps like that before (except when I was in labor and miscarrying) so I am sitting on the couch fighting back tears in my eyes. Everything makes me cry these days. Haha. I'll mention it to my OB at my next appointment. Hopefully it's a one time thing and it won't happen again.

Glad they went away! If you're worried, call your Dr anyway!
  • @rmpiszczek I'm glad the cramps eased up! One thing that helps sometimes when I start to feel very cramps is to try to lay down if I can. Also like everyone else said, lots of water and rest!

  • sciatica isn't getting better, but not getting worse... yay. :/

lately, whenever baby moves i get intense cramps in my lower abdomen. they only last for about 5min, but geez!  I don't remember feeling like this with DD.
getting comfortable sucks at night. I can not lay on my side for very long, but I know I need to start laying like that from next week on. I do have one of those crazy pregnancy pillows, it's just not helping right now.

oh and yay for swelling in my feet and hands when I am outside/on my feet for a while.

  • @madamerwin +1 to the sneeze shooting pains and assuming a brace position, lol. Mine seemed more common in the first trimester. I was pretty sure someone ripped an ovary out.

  • +1 to being uncomfortable sleeping.  Just ordered the Snoogle and can't wait to get it Wednesday!!
  • @Gretchypoo awwww, I hope you're feeling better by now .

  • @Gretchypoo I totally cried watching Rob & Chyna... Dh was like, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!

When I was pregnant with DD I would cry all the time because I didn't know what I wanted to eat. lol.

  • @Munchie2.0 I know this isn't symptom related, but I'm glad I'm not the only one watching Rob & Chyna! Lol
  • Well my headache turned in to a full blown migraine yesterday. I ended up leaving work early but the train ride home was painful (although I did fall asleep which was nice). I went to sleep as soon as I got home, got up for about an hour to eat some pizza, and turned in for the night by 6pm. I feel hungover today.

  • @Munchie2.0 lol! that was pretty much it last night-- everything made me cry. Really stupid stuff, too! I think I just had a stressful weekend and I have to leave town for 2 days this week and I'm just hormonal :-)
  • @Gretchypoo - I had my hormonal meltdown Sunday night. Everything was getting to me and I was also crying over how much I love my baby and wanted to go buy her all her stuff now even though I will be having a shower lol....and I was a blubbering mess. Yay hormones! lol. I did also have an exhausting and stressful day at work, so I think being overtired was just icing on the cake

  • Lol, I too am watching Rob & Chyna...which DH laughs at. He makes fun of my reality TV guilty pleasures...like that show and Love and Hip Hop.
  • For STM+, is the nosebleed symptom going to go away before the end of this pregnancy? Other than nausea, which is still here, it is probably my most annoying symptom.

  • @WinchesterGirl I am on Salbutamol, Singulair and Advair. I was very worried when I was pregnant with my daughter but she was fine. It's never reassuring to have to take the meds all the time, but like your nurse said we do need to breathe.

  • I am randomly nesting hardcore. On Sunday I painted my daughters' room on a whim, I've been buying cloth diapers like they're going out of style, aaand I folded all the laundry. All. the. laundry. I am 19 weeks, how am I supposed to do this for the next 21 weeks?!

  • I've had mild crampy feelings and Dr. Google told me it was RLP. I feel like such a FTM sometimes even though DD most definitely came from my body because my pregnancy with her had completely different symptoms. (Like super runny earwax. And a total NEED for eggs sunny side up. And majorly painful nipples).

So it's like, hmmm, I wonder if this is normal, because I didn't have it last time....*googles* oh, it's apparently this super common thing. Oh.

@peachesnbean YES. I've started nesting, and DH thinks I've lost it. I really thought it wouldn't start until 3rd tri for some reason. I saw one of the BMBS ahead of us has a nesting thread, and I can't wait until we can all share our nest-capades.

  • My acid reflux is terrible lately. I've been taking tums before bed because every night I lay down and I can feel it. Sometimes it's accompanied by heartburn other times not. Today I got it bad after lunch... I'm going to ask my doctor about it tomorrow but anyone find anything that has helped them? I'm thinking I need to eat smaller portions at a time maybe and that might help. I had a big lunch today so maybe that is what caused my midday reflux.

  • @marriedhamstermom my heartburn and acid reflux has been UNREAL! At my prenatal yoga, our instructor (who is also a doula) said to check fat consumption in foods (even like salad dressing and such) and to try a cup 1/2 cup of yogurt or tall glass of milk when it comes on. I've found the milk often subdues it so its not terribly painful, but usually it just makes it bearable so I can wait to take my Tums until bedtime. They say tums are fine for you and actually add calcium to your diet, but I don't like to take more than 1 or 2 per day if possible. I may try to start a food journal for a week to track when it comes on.

Of course I also read a Facebook article today about warning signs for a heart attack as soon as a month before you have it and was like OH MY GOSH I'M GONNA HAVE A HEART ATTACK! Symptoms: body weakness, dizziness, fatigue, shortness of breath, cold like symptoms, loss of energy --> thank you social media self diagnosis!

  • My right boob is hurting.  Specifically the nipple. Last night, I kept getting a painful tingling sometimes burning feeling. Same feeling has continued all day today.  I tried googling it but I can't find anything.  Google talks more about general breast soreness. Is it possible I could be getting "let-down"? I'm actually not even sure what let down is and if you can have it at 20 weeks. Is anybody else experiencing this?

  • The boob pain returns! It was particularly bad at work today for some reason. I was hunched over the bakery table out of sight from customers just gripping my chest. My boss asked what was wrong and all I could say was "it burns." She was alarmed at first, the got super weirded out when I explained it was my nipples. Her reaction was kind of funny actually.

This is totally me, but both and more on the left side! This is my first, so I don't know what let-down feels like, so I'm not sure. I mentioned it to my doc and she said first timers tend to be more sensitive and recommended some lotions to try. So, basically I have nothing for you, but you're not alone
  • So after hearing you all talk about the snoogle, I looked it up and realized I was sleeping wrong!! I put a pillow behind my back and positioned my legs differently and now I've woken up 2 days in a row with no back pain! No Snoogle needed
Funny you mention the snoogle, because I came home yesterday to find my husband bought one for me! I have been sleeping pretty terribly, with pillows in front of me, behind my back, and between my knees. It was impossible to get comfortable. But the snoogle totally helps.

+1 to boob pain. Seems worst when I wake up in the morning. I feel like there are weights on the end of them!
