@SpaceBurger I was literally just thinking that when I read your post lol. Our vaginas are going to be able to fit bagels! That's a comparison I can actually visualize. It's terrifying, but I can visualize it lol.

Wait... Maybe this should go in stupid parenting thread, but the cervix can hurt? I mean, I know it's gonna hurt to push a baby out. But I thought contractions would be painful in the midsection where te uterus is and the back if one has back labor. Omg. Why did I not think of my cervix just hurting because it's getting dilated? I'm learning New pains to anticipate everyday.

I just got out of my appointment where I fought the good fight with the big bad doctor for a natural birth. He was adamant for a c-section, but at least it's no longer planned as being under general anesthesia. I was really upset about not even being allowed to try, but then I pictured a bagel passing through my vagina and I feel a little bit better.... Haha!
That's a good victory @books&icecream! It's sometimes hard for me to put trust in the medical establishment for some reason (even though they clearly know waaaay more than me) so I admire your "good fight"
@books&icecream ive been fighting with my doctors to vbac. They're not super crazy about it but seriously they can't find any reasons to not let me try cause I meet every single must on their stupid list. So they pretty much said they can't say no cause it's my choice, but I've had some heated appointments to make a long story short.

Good job!!! I can almost imagine what it must have been like. Did you pull out studies and references? Were you like "hold on, according to an article published in 2012 in the journal of....." Good job girl.
Today I sat and stared at the castor oil at Walgreens. I'm so freaking uncomfortable right now, I can't walk without a limp because my back hurts so badly. I'm ready to be selfish and get this kid out.
That being said, I did not buy it. I'm trying to hold out until my appointment on Tuesday where I will hopefully get a membrane sweep. Those worked for my last three (I was closer to 39 weeks when I had them though, this one I'd only be a few days past 38) and I'd rather not have all day diarrhea.
@owlcup I'm glad you decided against getting it! I'm sure it has worked with others before, but I tried that route at 41 weeks with DD, and I didn't get a baby out of it. Just mud butt, inflamed hemorrhoids, and 8 hours of pure misery.
@allythekid Yeah, that sounds horrible! I was reading stories about ladies taking it all last night in bed. It was basically 50/50 if it worked or not. I'll just stick to bouncing on my birthing ball and pacing the backyard.
Quick update: Only dialated to 1cm currently. I'm on magnesium and will be until 24 hours after the actual birth which means no food, water, or getting up to walk around. They've placed a catheter and we're just waiting on the Foley to do its job before starting pitocin. So it's not looking like today will be baby day, I'm hoping for tomorrow.

sometimes it's all about the small victories good work mama.
@annabenanna I kind of love you right now, haha. That's what I wanted to do but it's rare disorder and I am the first ever pregnant patient who has it, so there are no studies!! Totally cramping my style. I did, however, go in with a flow chart /outline of all the reasons, both known and logically induced, as to why each option was good or bad. And the doctors thought it was awesome, haha.
Married 11-11-11 TTC only since Dec 2015. I had some weight to get off. Been working hard in the gym for over a year. BFP 02-15-16 with our first IT'S A BOY!!!
No food is BS!! All the research suggests it is better to.let mom eat as we burn a crazy amount of calories during labor and need to keep up our energy. And the argument that we will aspirate is also crap, the risk is miniscule, hospitals are super risk averse to our detriment and take forever to update policies to align with new developments. I plan on eating if I'm hungry, they can suck it!!
@books&icecream I'm so proud of you!! It's not easy to fight against a profession we're taught to put on a pedestal and trust everything they say, so good for you fighting for what you want!
@nataliemaephotography that's a long time without food, but you got this!! Can't wait to see pics of your baby!!!
My hospital says you can eat at the beginning of labour, but once you hit active labour they don't allow it because you'll just end up puking it up. They do allow juice and any clear fluids, which includes popsicles.
I posted this on FB but figured post it here too. I woke up this morning with stomach pains, puking, the runs, you know all the fun stuff, and things weren't getting better so hubby felt it best we go into L&D to get things checked out. Well I started feeling better, but my stupid BP was elevated and wouldn't go down and I had protein in my urine, so after 5 hours in L&D, I was released but I have to go back on Sunday to do a NST and get my BP rechecked. I have my work shower on Sunday, they told me to go to that first, then head in, but was advised to pack a bag just in case cause they might have to induce me. Looks like this little dude might be coming sooner than later!
I posted this on FB also, but after the doctor appointment today, we are officially on the "will not stop labor" wagon. I'm still only 1cm dilated and 75% effaced but she poked Carlisles head (again) and they weigh 6.1lb and 5.9lb. I am going walking and eating spicy food and if I weren't so worried, I would be doing jumping jacks! I don't know how I can make it 2 more weeks, so here is to hoping they come ASAP!
Also, no more procardia. Contractions every 5 minutes? Helllllllo L&D!

And does anybody else think that one of the worst parts about labor is being withheld food? Ugh.
