Forget cervix checks--what I remember being really unpleasant was when the doctor "stripped my membranes", which felt like someone was scraping out my insides like you scrape the insides out of a pumpkin. I can't remember at what point during labor that happened. I just remember I had never heard of it before and it hurt like a b*tch.

Oh yeah, I've heard that's very painful. It's basically when the doctor puts their hand INSIDE your cervix (GUISE!!!!) and sweeps around the amniotic sac to separate it from the uterus. It can stimulate stronger contractions and cause the water to break. It is NOT the same thing as having your water broken, mind you, which is relatively painless.
My aunt is really clairvoyant, she was the one that knew something was up with me before I even knew I was pregnant. She's saying to my mom next Friday, the 16th, because it's the next full moon and in her world, you have to be pregnant for 9 full moons (which I will be by then). So MAYBE I'll be lucky and she'll be right twice??
@mizzkbrat I'm not due until the 18th but actually hoping baby waits a week (yup go a week overdo) so my husband doesn't have to mess with his work schedule, he is finally getting some hours in.

My MIL just put her bid in for the 16th for this exact reason. I we'll see!

Married 05/2014
PCOS baby due October 09, 2016 Beta #1: 22.5 Beta #2: 74
Am I the only one with a due date of the 2nd but hoping, praying, and crossing my legs that this child doesn't come until the 7th?
Nope, but I don't think I'll get what I want. I'm due the 8th, but want to wait til the 11th so I can get off through the week of thanksgiving without taking unpaid time. He's big though, so I don't think they'll let me go past my EDD. Hope you get your way one last time before little girl takes over!
I need an extra week too! Due the 10th, hoping for the following week. At my growth scan 2 weeks ago the tech was talking to my dd and dd said 'my baby is coming in 40 days' which from that date would be October 4th so we'll see...
Sorry if I missed other updates but I pretty much was MIA after my appt today. BP was high so MFM decided on outpatient monitoring (taking and calling in BP, getting more bloodwork, and retaking 24-hr urine) over the weekend and said to bring a suitcase to my u/s appt Monday afternoon because they may need to induce then. I'll be 37 weeks Sunday but totally not feeling ready and I'd love another week or a little more warning but just hoping things end up ok! Baby is 7-8ish lbs, still fine on BPP, and I think my doctor said I'm 1cm dilated when she checked.
My due date is 10/6. At my appointment this week my doctor laid on me that she is scheduling me for an induction at 39 weeks. Totally caught me off gaurd. I'm 3 weeks away from meeting my little boy! I'm terrified of labor but I know it will be worth it!
Not due till Oct 24 but I'll be perfectly fine with him coming 2 weeks early -- that will still leave me out till after the new year.
Married 11-11-11 TTC only since Dec 2015. I had some weight to get off. Been working hard in the gym for over a year. BFP 02-15-16 with our first IT'S A BOY!!!
I'm okay with baby coming a bit early, I'm tired of being pregnant at this point... though now that baby has dropped I don't have heartburn after every meal, which is AWESOME. However, hubby has a promotional exam on the 4th (due 10/2). It would be nice if baby came after the exam so that daddy can focus on his test and not be stressing about mom and baby. But really, as long as I don't go into labor ON the 4th, anytime is fine.

@laurapcos it's insane- I've been in L&D a few times throughout this pregnancy and my last- during a full moon cycle and the place is jammed! I really think it does something!
@wishuponastar1 I hope you don't need to be induced on Monday! But it's great that the baby is a good size! And 37 weeks is awesome! You'll be considered full term and the baby should be in great shape! Keep me posted! How is your BP now?
My due date is the 27th but Dr told us to be ready since the 12th.
a coworker also made the full moons calendar on me and according to that it should be October 16th, I have the feeling that it would be the 18th but who knows.
As long as he gets here healthy I really don't mind the date/place/time.
@UponAStar16 FX things go well for you Monday. They may need to induce me too. I'm mostly ok with it, but definitely start to freak wondering if I have everything ready for him!

Also due the 2nd and I have the 8th in my mind as when she'll come.. I've been wrong with every kid, so we'll see! but, I really don't want her to come much before her due date and after would be optimal!
@annabenanna Was there not any talk of trying to turn the baby before scheduling a c section? I recently talked about this with my doctor even though I'm 99% sure she's head down, I won't know until my growth u/s. Because of scheduling, I couldn't get in for that until I'll be nearly 37 weeks so I asked if that would be too late to turn her just in case she isn't in a good position. He said absolutely not. Not only can they still turn on their own right up until labor but he had a lady scheduled to attempt to turn during her 39th week and the baby turned on its own before her appt. Also, have you checked out spinningbabies? A lot of great info there about trying to get baby in position on your own!
@ibabyloveb87 I'm with you, lady... I'm due 10/17, but I just have a feeling I'm going to be like a week late. So a bunch of you will have one month olds and I'll still be waiting to birth this human!

I was wondering this, too, @annabenanna. I know a girl who just had a successful VBAC after her doctor did a ECV at 38 weeks. You might want to ask your doctor about it.

We are scheduled for an ECV at 37 + 3! I am hoping it's successful. Also trying to do all the spinning stuff recommended on spinning babies. I haven't lost hope! We have another ultrasound on Monday to check positioning again, and probably one every week till 39. Really the last option is the C-section... I'm hoping that this baby has magically turned on his own and on Monday everything will be right again! Either way, I have modified my birth plan now... It's originally a vaginal delivery one, but now I've added a special section for C-sections.
The LAST THING I want though, is to go into labor and he's breech. Can't I just have one of the two options:
1.) Go into labor and he's head down. or 2.) Go peacefully for my scheduled C-section at 39 + 2 if he's still breech.
The thought of an emergency C-section kinda scares me.
@annabenanna That's good to hear! C sections terrify me also and I didn't want you to think that was your only option at this point. I hope it works out and they can turn that baby!
The thought of an emergency C-section kinda scares me.
@annabenanna Yeah that word "emergency" makes everything scarier. But at least you are working a c section into your birth plan so it won't feel as sudden maybe if it happens? I hope the baby turns though!
I am terrified of a c-section! Just found out this week they're recommending I have one and I totally freaked out. I have some good reasons but most are not, like because baby is head down, I'm SURE they're going to slip and slice his cheek or something. I'm trying to come to terms with it while simultaneously building my defense for NOT having one. I already made an appointment for next week to fight the big fight. Kind of hoping Eye of the Tiger is playing in the background cuz I'm gonna come in like a hurricane, haha.
I'm on the breach / transverse train too. She hasn't moved from the same position since 20 weeks and I'm at 32+2. There is a tentative plan to do an ECV at 37 weeks. They said I have to have it done at the hospital, is that the same for others?
@annabenanna I haven't posted the whole sob story, but I mentioned it in why my pregnant self is crying. I have an old sports injury to my vocal cords which means I sometimes stop breathing. It's is pretty rare and I'm the first patient ever at the University clinic to have the disorder AND be pregnant so no one knows what to expect. If I were to stop breathing during labor they wouldn't be able to do an emergency c-section without permanently damaging my vocal cords or trache-ing me so they want me to play it safe and have a planned c-section. In fact they recommended a c-section under full anesthesia so I'm intubated. But I was so emotional when they told me that I don't feel like I was able to express myself and my symptoms. I want to speak directly with the Herr Direktor Prof. Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. (Germans love titles) and am hoping he'll see it's an over reaction
@books&icecream, do you really think they are overreacting? I'm scared for you and sucks that you are in that situation! I don't know anything about it, but I really hope you figure out the best solution. You know your body best.... but at the same time, they are the pros. Or are they? I'm sorry you're having to decide!
