I really need to decide if I want to re-use DS' arm's reach mini cosleeper or spring for the stupid expensive halo bassinet. Anyone with thoughts/experience? I mean I know what the cosleeper is like, but $250 for the halo deal? It's soooooo much money for something that will be used a max of 3 months but it looks so convenient and easy and perfect.
My to do's are mostly decor/knitting but I also need to fix the mistakes with my maternity leave paperwork, see if I qualify for PFLA, buy PP pads and stuff, rent a pump, andddd maybe reorganize the clothes one more time.
~Unpack my entire house ~sleep and nap as needed ~celebrate my 5 year wedding anniversary and enjoy a free weekend without kids ~worry about the small sh!t later as newborns need very little at first
- wash babies bedding so it's fresh -install the carseat -bring the swing up from the storage room - make freezer meals & do some "extra" shopping to stock up on the essentials so I don't have to get as much groceries with a baby and it will be damn near winter here so the less I need to get the better. -work on getting the kids Christmas presents organized and ordered so it's less to do. -pack my hospital bag and H's but I'll probably not bother until I'm in labour. I have another list of non baby related to do before baby arrives list but it's super long and boring! Lol

@Schell2013 it's funny but even though I haven't gotten any baby stuff done, I am practically finished cmas shopping for the kids, have a list going and some things bought for others and booked a place for my dd's bday party in January. Apparently those things were deemed the most important in my mind (or perhaps just because I like those better)!
Last week and weekend we got a lot done, so I'm really glad you didn't post this thread a week ago or I'd be freaking out lol. We still need to ...
- Get a few more things off our registry (RNP, diaper change pad, baby k'tan wrap)... My cousin implied that she is planning on throwing us a friend's shower in a couple weeks, but nothing is definite. So I don't know if we should hold out for that, or just wait and see if it happens and if it does ask for diapers. - Shower thank you notes - Read up on breastfeeding - Sign up for/take pumping class - Clean/organize garage ... not exactly vital before baby, but it's disgusting and if it doesn't happen now it certainly won't with a newborn! - Deep clean house and/or look for a groupon for a cleaning service - Meal prep, which may turn to just going to Costco and buying a lot of frozen/packaged meals and snacks - Decide on a package for newborn photos and get them booked - Get a few more PP things... I was struggling with picking underwear and I couldn't find the blue dermoplast - Childcare... we have a deposit down with an in-home provider, so that's our back-up. We have a tour of one more center that just go renovated, so we can't go see it until the 17th. Cutting it a little close! - Install car seat bases
I'm trying to balance not getting too caught up in the little to-dos, but at the same time not wanting to have any vital tasks left once baby is already here, so I can just focus on baby!
Being on modified bed rest has really cramped my style.
- nursery hasn't even been started. DH and FIL are starting the floor after Labor Day, putting down hardwood then walls and trim need to be painted and everything needs to be put in the room - I went through my newborn stuff and pulled out what we can use for this baby- I washed it and put it in the dresser (baby's dresser is in our room while waiting for nursery to be completed) but I still need to wash all my swaddle blankets - organize kitchen - make room for baby stuff- drying rack, bottles etc. - buy an infant car seat - wash co sleeper sheets - get prescription for breast pump, order breast pump - figure out if our old swing works or purchase new one - get some PP clothing for myself
and then after baby comes and I am able to do more I need to organize my house, put together the nursery, do a DS1 toy purge.... And you know all that newborn stuff.
Another twin mom here, so like sjo we've been sitting around all prepared for a while now. EXCEPT a couple weeks ago our AC decided to start having issues and leaking, so now the attic access and ceiling (literally right outside the nursery door) is bowed, cracked, and covered in mold! Babies will be here in the next 2 weeks, so kind of a race to get that mess cleaned up.
@annabenanna@sportiegrl1213 I assume this gift for DH is for him putting up with 9 months of lady nonsense? If so, I love the idea. What are you getting? What says 'so sorry for the raging hormones, here's hoping it gets better soon'?
@mizzkbrat, my thoughts exactly! I was avoiding it but couldn't help myself. I'm more anxious now that I realize how much is still left to do! Maybe I can list what I HAVE done to make myself feel better first?
Done: Washed clothes and swaddle blankets in All free & clear Put clothes away into dressers Bought rock 'n play Car seat is here (still in box) Got co-sleeper back from sister (needs to be cleaned) Cleaned out space in our bedroom for co-sleeper Purchased and washed baby k'tan and Beco gemini Submitted pump claim and received extra brand new pump from sister in law who never even opened hers Purchased a few nursing tanks Purchased a few post partum supplies (pads, tucks and hemorrhoid cream)
Need to do: Finish building nursery Paint nursery Move furniture into nursery Pack hospital bags Sterilize pump parts Buy and sterilize bottles just in case Deep clean house Meal plan and prep Buy diapers and wipes Buy baby toiletries and towels Buy nursing bras, more tanks, tops and open front sweaters Buy nursing pads Install car seat ...I could go on all day
- buy stroller/car seat (inlaws are doing that, they said at the beginning of September we will get it) - wash/organize baby clothes (at least the blankets, towels, and sheets are done) - buy hospital/labor gown - buy nursing tanks - hang shelves in nursery - put up outlet covers (still off from painting) - buy SS big brother gift - write/send thank you cards - make padsicles - pack hospital/diaper bags - hook up/mount baby monitor - install car seats - organize dresser with drawer organizers - clean and organize kitchen cabinets to add all baby stuff - need to buy - sterilization bags, first aid kit, grooming kit, milk storage bags
So glad I took Friday off to give myself a 4 day weekend!
This thread makes me feel so much better! I wish pre-maternity leave was a thing because having a few days off to get stuff done would be AMAZING right now!
- wash all the things - find a pediatrician (oops) - call the daycare we're planning on using (double oops) - pack hospital bag - get car seat bases installed - fill out the paperwork to get my pump
* buy any postpartum supplies other than clothes (clothes are a lot more exciting than padsciles and breast cream so I have plenty of new leggings and tunics but nothing I need) * wash all of my baby clothes * set up nursery * open boxes containing car seat, stroller, pack n play, glider, baby bath, and basically anything I've bought or received as a gift * Send shower thank you cards * pack hospital bag * buy gown for hospital * name the baby * install carseat
need to make lots of progress in the next month
@MKJeffrey2002 - Your list is my list! With one exception - I've washed one load of baby clothes. I woke up in a full blown panic last night because this child still has no name and I'm beginning to think she never will. Every single suggestion I've given my H has been vetoed. Ugh.
@annabenanna@sportiegrl1213 I assume this gift for DH is for him putting up with 9 months of lady nonsense? If so, I love the idea. What are you getting? What says 'so sorry for the raging hormones, here's hoping it gets better soon'?
@annabenanna - what do you think you'll get DH? I hadn't thought about it, but my DH has been working like crazy and still helps me clean/cook when he gets home. He really deserves something nice. Not to mention, our anniversary is Sept 15 and we decided to just go to dinner and float any gifts. But I know he wants to get me a combo birthday (Sept 25)/push present. I should definitely get him something but am blanking on ideas.
I'm due Oct 21, but OB won't let me go past Oct 14. We have showers Sept 10 and 17. So I'll wait until after those to buy missing things, like the travel system, monitors, swing.
-File STD paperwork -Call pediatrician -Hang artwork in nursery -Thank you notes from 8/21 shower -Organize nursery -Install carseat -Hospital bag (hoping I can make a list and actually pack it while laboring)
I'm not really buying any diapers before she's here. I have no idea what size or what brand so I'm hoping to have a couple of small packs. I have a pack of newborn swaddlers that were used as a shower game. I'll take what the hospital gives me and if needed, I'll have my parents/siblings get boxes of diapers when she gets here for us to take home.

Surprise but very welcome + on 5/16/2019, EDD 1/25/2020
*Pick a pediatrician *Write thank you cards *Start reading that breastfeeding book by La Leche League *Install carseat
We have two jumbo boxes of size 1 diapers, but just a little pack of newborn ones. I guess I should go buy a box just in case since my doc keeps saying I could go early.
Also, I have no idea what Dreft is and I'm still unsure if I should bother with a birth plan or if that's one of those things the baby books/websites tell you to do that the nurses roll their eyes at when you check in. Lol
Y'all...I don't know if this is the best thread ever or the worst.
We just finished up our showers, so we basically have everything that we're going to be given. So now it's time to go over the registry and buy all the leftovers. At least we put together the stroller last night, though. Yay! And I bought Dreft. Haven't used it, but it's bought.
Still need to:
Write shower thank you cards and mail
Install car seat (And buy second car seat for DH's car)
Wash baby clothes
Pack diaper bag
Pack hospital bag
Buy things to go in hospital bag (I have no robe, gown, padcicles, anything for the bag! Ugh.)
Research and buy formula (should we buy some now or wait?)
Buy more bottles and sanitize everything
Unpack RNP, which Baby will be sleeping in for a while
Register for the hospital
We are still in our apartment, so we can't get any furniture or set up a nursery yet. So I've been procrastinating from a lot of things, because right now we just have all our baby stuff in a corner in the dining room with nowhere to put things. I got a clothes basket, so I'm going to go ahead and wash baby clothes and leave them in the basket. But other than that...everything is just piled up. Ugh.
Part of me feels like I'm only 32.5 weeks, so I've got plenty of time. But then I think of my last MFM ultrasound where the doc said they might want to induce at 37 weeks... and then I look to see that 37 weeks is October 2nd and then I have a mini panic attack. So yeah.
I (like many of you previously mentioned doing) did this for my husband (gave it to him at our BaByQ) - it's kind of a gift, but not over the top, just a little something to make him feel more included in the moment! Filled a backpack with new warm-up pants, water and gatorade, granola bars, candy bar, toothbrush & paste, mouthwash, ibuprofen and a handful of mini liquor bottles. I mean, yes, he's put up with me and all the aches, pains and hormones....but I've actually had to experience all the aches, pains and hormones, so I figure if baby is MY gift at the end, it's a pretty good gift for him, too!
I, mean, I wouldn't turn my nose at something shiny if he surprised me...but I'm really not counting on that!!
Also, I can pretty much take something from each of your lists and create my own list of sh!t I still need to do. Guess Labor Day weekend is going to be one big checklist!!
My DH is just going to get a new Detriot Lions hat and hoodie. And I'm personalizing a key chain. That's about it. Giving him a son is more than enough. LOL
Married 11-11-11 TTC only since Dec 2015. I had some weight to get off. Been working hard in the gym for over a year. BFP 02-15-16 with our first IT'S A BOY!!!
-Install Carseat -Clean out nursery -Put baby furniture in nursery -Buy a crib -pack Hospital Bag aka buy things for hospital bag -pack diaper bag -install carseat -call to get pump (I also have to wait until 36 weeks for the insurance to cover it...) -get pump parts once we know which pump we get. -wash baby clothes -put away baby clothes
Thank goodness my last day of work is Sunday...I'm sure there's more to add to that.
My DH is just going to get a new Detriot Lions hat and hoodie. And I'm personalizing a key chain. That's about it. Giving him a son is more than enough. LOL
My DH's birthday is Oct 15 and he keeps dropping hints of what he wants. Yesterday I finally said "You're getting a baby for your birthday, you don't get anything else. That's more than enough!" Lol
@krzyriver DH's birthday is September 14 and he's requested no present from me because his present is the baby. I think I am going to get him a new shirt because some of his are looking rough. Poor guy.

@LMNOBaby your note made me cry..... at work. It's such a great idea, I haven't really thought of that... I will totally give him a little something.. If I still have time :P
@mayisch Aw, thanks! I have to admit, I cried a bit after I wrote it and read it back. And, full confession, my husband teared up when he read it aloud at the shower! I mean, cue my preggo tears again...
@krzyriver DH's birthday is September 14 and he's requested no present from me because his present is the baby. I think I am going to get him a new shirt because some of his are looking rough. Poor guy.
Aw, he's sweet. You should definitely do something nice for him.
Im honestly just so bad at buying gifts, I'm hoping baby comes close enough to his birthday that he won't notice. I did get him his diaper bag for a shower gift, so I've done something nice recently. That counts, yes? Lol
@Kaessi I'm so stressed about the name. Nothing seems right. With my first son, picking the name felt so natural but this time I can even come close. My grandmother actually changed my dad's name legally when he was two months old because she didn't like what she picked. I'm hoping I don't end up in the same situation with mine
I'm popping in to say I'm almost done with my thank you cards! So I can take that off my list.
Also here are the things I HAVE accomplished:
- bought bath tub - bought a just in case bottle (planning to hopefully breastfeed) - stocked up on just in case formula - bought the spare crib sheet - called insurance and figured out breastpump (boo, we have no say as to brand, only brand available was Ameda) - Set a date with Deacon for his baptism - Set a date with synagogue for his baby naming
Still need to: - cut down list of 30+ baby names - Move Big brother's car seat from center to side in both vehicles -Install car seat base in my car -purchase and install second car seat base in husband's car -hang up picture over dresser in nursery. -buy pp items -find nursing bras and tops from last pregnancy, wash and put away -pack hospital bag for self, husband, and baby -pick up newborn and size 1 diapers, Vaseline for diaper changes -buy and install video baby monitor -meal planning for a few weeks - shopping lists and recipes -remove big brother's toys & books from nursery and move ot big boy room -find boxes of baby toys & books and put away in nursery -ask family members to be godparents & decide on baptism date.
@krzyriver Dreft (IMO) is an overpriced "baby" detergent. You can just use any free & clear variety, it's a lot cheaper and pretty much the same thing. If you're concerned that your infant might have a reaction to scents or additives, it's a good idea to wash all YOUR clothes in free & clear as well, since baby is going to spend a lot of time up against you and your clothes. I just switched our whole household over to free & clear a few months ago.

@von1976 I did google it quickly earlier and was kind of like "Eh" cause I already washed all his stuff in Tide Free & Clear and definitely wasn't going to redo it all. But then I started second guessing that, wondering if I was just being lazy. So thank you, you just saved me some agony and some cash! I totally would have caved and bought it. Lol
