  • p.s. in the end, we bought @CopperBoom86's bathtub suggestion.  It looks awesome!  If anyone needs a reco, here's the one we are buying.  Thanks for the reco Copperboom!

  • @annabenanna the hospital should provide diapers while you're in the hospital and probably a few to take home. Some hospitals give you more than others.  Ours only gave us two or three to take home.
  • I totally agree with @books&icecream. How in the world am I gonna keep a newborn alive? Also, how in the world am i gonna keep his Daddy happy too?  I've often thought in the past few weeks how I'm far from  ready to do this.
  • @annabenanna your breast pump is actually a good brand.  I was talking to BRU the other day and the said the only one better is the hospital brand, but Ameda comes in close second.

I think the hospital diapers depends on your hospital.  Someone mentioned they'll give you a pack, but my hospital is requesting we bring our own because they do not supply them - but they do supply formula if your baby needs supplements while waiting for the boobie milk to come in (my cousin had to bring her formula to the hospital).

    My To-Do List:

    - order replacement parts for breast pump (borrowed machine from SIL)
    - put cash aside for circumcision, hospital parking, food/snacks for hubby, room costs above our insurance
    - buy postpartum stuff (besides clothes)
    - make padiciles
    - finalize hospital and diaper bag
    - clean out cupboard in kitchen for baby bottles, food/formula, dishes
    - meet with daycare lady (so excited I found one with an opening)
    - meet with paediatrician (hopefully I will remember to go into their office on Tuesday - they're in the same building as my OB)
    - make a house key and drop it off to FIL who will be coming to get our dog when we go into labour

  • @bamacoop if you sign up with enfamil they send free samples and coupons. I got my samples about a week ago with their newborn, gentlease, and regular formulas. Also 2 $5 off coupons.

  • Thanks @ignoscemihi!  That's good to know!

@LauraPCOS, oh really?  Now I don't feel bad about that being the only choice!
  • @annabenanna Ya supposedly it is the only other brand that can be taken apart and sterilized properly.  Medela (the next biggest brand) has replacement parts, but they are made by a third party, so who knows if they fit properly.  Medela is the brand my SIL has, so we'll see how it goes.

  • Ah man! I spent 2 and a half hours tonight working in the nursery and here I was thinking I was crossing off half a dozen things on my to-do list....I didn't touch anything!! Okay that's not totally true, my diaper bag is finalized and my hospital bag just needs my going home outfit (considering I don't have a lot of clothes I can wear at the moment, that will be a last minute thing I throw in).

My baby clothes and accessories (blankets, wash clothes, etc) are all rolled now though and looks so much more organized  does that count?!

  • @LauraPCOS So the hospital bag...I've packed what I can but I can't pack toiletries or anything until right before, which I feel like is a lot of stuff. Did you just buy some extras/travel size items or are those going in last minute too? My going home outfit is going to be a maxi dress I wear all the time right now so I haven't put that in either.

Right now mine consists of nursing gown, nursing bras, tank top, robe, nursing pads, lanolin, and stool softener.

  • @ibabyloveb87 I bought some travel size toiletries, but I also had a bunch for hoarding at my last hotel visit lol. So my hospital bag has: a nursing night gown, a men's lounge set (figured worse comes to worst i'll wear this home too), warm socks, slippers, mini size of shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, a new toothbrush I had already, 24 overnight heavy flow pads, nipple leak pads (can't remember what they are call), hubby boxers, socks, tshirts and lounge pants.  I also packed what feels like 104 panties - everyone says you need granny panties but I didn't know what size so I bought 2 different sizes that are bigger than what I wear now, but then I thought what if they're too big, so I threw in some of my normal panties.

I haven't packed my nursing bras yet because I wear them daily (they're the only ones that are comfortable and have been since the beginning) and my go home outfit.  October is so weird in Canada, it can be 24'C or it can be snowing - so that's why my outfit will have to wait as well as I rotate between 3 outfits.

  • @von1976 We have used All Free for years since I have sensitive skin. Hoping baby is good with that too!

@ibabyloveb87 I haven't done it yet, but I'm planning to buy travel sized items for toiletries to cut down on what we have to grab on the way out of the door. I'm planning to pack most of my bag on the way (hoping that doesn't backfire on me).
  • *pack hospital bag
    *pack diaper bag
    *wash rock n play cover
    *wash swing
*spot clean infant seat- install in a few weeks
*get some fun yoga pants or pajama pants for the hospital
    *buy Bobby pins!

I think we got this ;)
  • @LauraPCOS Ohhh good call on the hotel toiletries!! Time to raid DH's stash  :) Another perk of the constantly traveling husband!

  • I also have saved my hotel toiletries for my hospital bag. Saves so much room and I find they don't seem to leak like already opened bottles of shampoo.
@LauraPCOS I am down to only 3 pairs of pants, and not many tops since even my maternity shirts are kinda short now. So my hospital bag will be last minute too or the night before my schedule c section, whichever happens to come first.

  • I can scratch off my list:

     - buy infant car seat and bases
     - finish putting away all the baby clothes and organize the closet
     - pack hospital back, which includes, robe, 3 pairs for comfy pj bottoms, nursing bras and tank tops, granny panties, socks and slippers. Just need to get toiletries.
     - pack diaper bag

    I can't believe it's Sept 1!!  :o

  • Feels like everything
(Whaaat, Pharrell TBT?!) Finding that gem reminded me of Man Crush Monday, but back to the topic...of what I can recall right now, we need to:
    - get a baby monitor
    - decide on a pediatrician
    - follow up with daycares to check waitlist status
    - put up wall decor in nursery
    - find correct size room darkening blinds
    - install car seat
    - organize and put away registry completion stuff
  • @Schell2013 I think I'm going to throw a maxi dress in for my come home clothes.  This way I know it will fit, and hopefully not show my lady diaper too much, and I'll grab a cardigan so if we have typical Canadian weather (you know the one where you wake up to frost only to enter a heat wave), I'll be covered.

  • I also picked up a few travel toiletries: 2 toothbrushes and small deodorants for DH. I already had a travel size toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, and then I bought a small travel bottle at the dollar store and filled it with my body wash. It was stressing me out to think of all the stuff I can't pack until last minute so I decided it was worth it to spend a few bucks on extras. I also have an extra hair brush I'm going to pack.

We got our carpets cleaned yesterday (which we'd wanted to do since we moved in a year ago), so now our house is a serious DISASTER AREA because we had to move a lot of stuff off of the furniture so they could move them. Can't wait for the carpets to dry so I can put everything back in place.

I still have to finalize the hospital bag and finish picking up some postpartum supplies, hand wash the stuffed animals and other items that can't be put in the washing machine, pick up a couple baby items that are in store only at Target, and set up
    the bassinet in our room.

  • @SpaceBurger haha you'd be surprised how much you get (in stuff and in gift cards) at your shower! Definitely doable. We ended up spending a lot of money after the shower to finish up our registries but thankfully had all of it covered in gift cards and cash gifts.

  • Only thing i think I have left is nesting lol I did do my kitchen today and our girls room 3 more rooms and the hall and I can deliver a giant baby
  • @LauraPCOS I LOVE your idea about the maxi dress with cardigan... definitely stealing that! I'm in BC and it's the same deal here with weather.

@mrszoess the little whale is soooo cute!!!!
  • @kittens22 thanks! zulily has some amazing stuff sometimes
  • @mrszoess OMG that's from zulilly?! Going to that site right now! Thanks for the heads up!!
  • @kittens22 things rotate on there so u have to stalk daily.
  • I felt like we were in good shape but now that we are looking at potentially needing to deliver early I feel a little stressed.

    To Do
    -Clean House
-Finish and mail thank you cards
-at least go to the grocery store
    -maybe meal prep
    -install carseats
    -pack our bags
-maternity pictures before they turn into new born pictures
    -order breast pump
    -finish nursery
-figure out what I will wear during delivery (I don't want to be naked) and what I will wear home.
-Figure out baby's insurance and pediatrician
    -Find childcare
-groom or have the dog groomed
-pick up all the things I will need post delivery.
  • @ball4768
Bless you. Your post made me feel right at home. I feel like I have done nothing and I cant find the energy to do it after working all day and chasing a toddler around. Nursery is 3/4 painted, changing table is in there- major obstacle is a file cabinet that needs to be emptied and sorted so the files can be placed in a new file cabinet in another room. I have all the stuff I need, it's just not in there yet. ANd dont get me started on the closet in there- my goal is to have the room usable and deal with the closet after baby comes. The room is terrifying looking and 8 weeks seems impossibly short. It's times like these I wish we werent cross country from our family. It'd be so nice to send DS with Nana for even a day to get a few things done!

We are team green- DS's hand me downs are washed and I inherited newborn girl stuff today with some diapers, so I think the major things I have. Starting a new job at week 32, along with DS starting preschool has made for a stressful week. Im hopeful my energy returns as the stress of the changes decreases.

  • my fluid was low at the mfm yesterday and I'm 33 weeks and a huge storm is coming. drastic changes in barometric pressure are shown to send women into labor.

  • @mrszoess oh geez! That storm is coming for us too. Luckily my bags are packed incase but he better stay put!!!

Eek thinking about you @mrszoess. When is the storm suppose to pass?
    Pregnancy Ticker

  • @mrszoess thinking of you! I hope baby stays put until it's safe to be out and about!

We are about 5 hours from home and I've been having BH since yesterday. I feel like I'm along for trouble since I didn't bring the diaper bag or car seat. What was I thinking?!
  • thanks guys (carpal tunnel and mobile
    i can't deal w tagging)... it's supposed to
start tomorrow at some point and they have no idea when it'll go away bc it's going to stall off the coast. sounds peachy LOL
  • @mrszoess It wasn't too bad for us!! Just a lot of rain and a little wind. Still windy today and drizzly but nothing crazy. We never even lost power (our AC unit went out last night but I don't think it was storm related). Hopefully it doesn't send you into labor!!
