My random: I'm annoyed for a very bratty reason. I just got out of a 3 hour, brutal staff meeting. I had been told previously that there would be a mini "shower" for me at our next staff meeting, so I was kind of expecting just a little something. Not a big deal, but just like an acknowledgement that I'm growing a human. You know? Maybe even some cupcakes or something. So at the very end of this 3 hour meeting, when everyone was dying to get up and get out of there, one of my coworkers just gets up and hands me a small bag of gifts for baby, and says "here". Everyone is staring at me miserably because they just want to leave and now I'm supposed to open gifts? So I just light heartedly told everyone not to worry about it and that they didn't need to stay to see me open everything. So everyone got up and there I was with my bag of gifts all alone like ... Umm.... thanks?
See, I'm being a brat, because I was given gifts and I'm still complaining. But it's just the fact that it was basically thrown at me and I just need to be done with work. I. Am. So. Done. This was just the icing on the cake.
@SLou24 That is the lamest gift giving story ever. And I'm an engineer who has attended some pretty awkward work baby showers. I'm sorry they were bad at gift giving!
@SLou24 aw sounds like horrible timing on your coworkers part. If it were me j would have held onto it and done it at another time. I'd be a bit bummed too if it was rushed and thrown at me. Just know it's not you of course, but the three hour long meeting that was the cause of it.
@AnnaS930 So far it's been tested on a spoon, a cinnamon eggo waffle and will be stirred into plain yogurt for a snack this afternoon. I also foresee it being an addition to the vanilla ice cream in my freezer or slathered on top of the Dare Digestive cookies on my cupboard! I'm ashamed at how much sweets I crave this pregnancy
@SLou24 - Since I have a pantry/freezer full of Reese's Pieces PB cups, I have lately strayed from the straight up PB cup blizzard (though, really.. could it be any more perfect??) For the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Smash Blizzard.. Here's the description: Peanut Butter Cookies, chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut butter, and choco chunks blended with creamy vanilla soft serve. It's really good, and just a bit different from straight up PB cup, but still my favorite flavors.
Also, you're not being a brat, that's the absolute worst. Would have been more tolerable if you hadn't known it was coming, then it would have been a nice surprise.. but instead it was more of a disappointment. You can be grateful for the gifts but bummed about the actual giving of them, I think that's totally fair. Sorry for the letdown!
Also, I realized that starting my leave the week of Labor Day means I'd be back the week after Thanksgiving.. except I don't work Wednesdays and we get Thurs/Fri off as paid holidays (holidays aren't like holidays on FMLA, they just count as time off).. so I've decided to take 11 weeks, come back to work for the Mon/Tues of Thanksgiving week, then be off for another 5 days before making my REAL transition back to 4 days/week. Yay!
It's so easy to be productive when the end is in sight. After today, just 4 days next week, 2 of which I'm training another pharmacist from another state, so really just 2 days to tie up everything for leave should make those days fly. Peace out, work!
@Jabreen okay I am having the same issue with The Bump app and photos. Every time I try to look at birth announcements and nursery threads with photos, the apps crashes. Getting very annoying. I have to wait until I am at home to use the computer to see those posts. Anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions?
@jenkar01 Whoa, throwback! Lol, but seriously, the problem has never gone away. Any post with more than one or two photos will definitely crash the app, so HDBD, Birth Announcements, the craft thread, etc. are all off limits when I'm on mobile.
Thanks ladies for the support! I'm definitely thankful for the gifts, but you're right it was just such a let down.
I also really want a cupcake now.
Although, it's not like I expect a ton more from my coworkers.. there's a reason I'm so ready to be done right now! I'm also just feeling hot and cranky today so there's that.

@slou24, I understand your disappointment. At job #1, several women had been talking about throwing me a baby shower before I left and everyone was super excited about it. I'm the fourth out of 5 babies to be born in the museum and I gave money to the three showers previous to mine. As soon as I knew my last day I made sure to share it with everyone hoping that someone would get the hint. My last day came and went and I didn't even get a card. People donated so much for the last baby shower that we bought them their crib and nobody even got me a card. Enjoy the baby gifts and enjoy the fact that you are almost done with work.
@MojieJo your boys are adorable!! I wonder if it's going to be a running joke for the rest of their lives that Avery's food was stolen in utero the whole time hence the ~3lb weight difference!

@jas1982 go ahead and get that pedicure! I guarantee you they've ::always:: seen worse! I went to get pedicures with a friend who runs marathons once. For those who are unaware, long distance runners often lose toenails; and, my friend had lost one on each foot. She actually asked the woman doing her pedicure if she could get a discount because she only had 8 toenails! I was like "if anything they should charge you extra!" The woman even painted fake toenails on those toes!!!

@cassloumy ew, I'm always irked by weird toenails lol! But I used to be a long distance runner and that ain't no picnic on your toenails! I never lost a nail but always had an issue with one and it still hurts 3-4 years later. I probably would have quit sooner if I'd lost a toenail haha. (Quit due to medical issues).
@hejo2016 re: prenatal massage: Totally 100% worth it!!! I had one about a month ago and I felt like a new woman after. I can't even imagine how amazing it would be right now with all of the aches and pains I have at this point! I would say splurge for it -- consider it necessary pre-natal care just like your check ups
My random for today: My feet are super swollen and look gross. I never get pedicures but I can't really reach my toes comfortably anymore and I have chipped nail polish from like a month and a half ago on there. Do you think the ladies will be grossed out giving me a super swollen pedicure?
The ladies at my local place will certainly be getting a workout kneading my bread-dough feet and cankles in the next few minutes...I'm sure they've seen waaay worse. Hell, they practically take a belt sander to my mothers feet when we go. Sausages toes and a few chips ain't nothin!

I just discovered cookie butter today which is a god send for my sweet tooth! I actually contemplated for a few moments if it would taste any good on my toasted jalapeno bagel. What is wrong with my taste buds?
STUCK IN BOX! On a semi-related note - the local bagel place near me does a garlic and herb cream cheese in the spring. I was a few months pregnant at that time (obvi), and for whatever reason the lady thought i said garlic and herb cc on a cinnamon raisin bagel. Not gonna lie - the cream cheese was so good I actually had a couple of bites before I changed my mind and scraped the cheese off the bagel and onto some toast (with arugula, tomato and an egg, but that's neither here nor there...) The taste buds want what they want when knocked up. Who I am to deny them!
I just had my 39w appointment and baby's head is super low. So low that my OB couldn't check how dilated I am b/c baby's head was in the way of my cervix and her fingers are too short to reach around. This is Day 11 at 4cm. Oy.
@Steephers123 I had that scare yesterday. All of a sudden around lunch I was like wait have I felt her? No I hadn't. But I had tried taking Tylenol in the morning for my pelvic pain I'm having. I wonder if that had something to do with it? She was back to normal later in the day. Just thought I'd mention my situation in case you've taken something and baby could just be sleeping or something? Try some cold water or something sweet and see if there's a reaction. Good luck! I know it's scary. Try not to panic.
@rock1cherry I chugged some gatorade and poked her a ton. She finally just moved, but I think I pissed her off as she's now kicking me a ton. I'll take that as a good sign I guess.
Good to hear @Steephers123 she's probably all like "mmooooooommmm leave me alone!" Haha but that's good. It certainly is a scare when you realize you haven't felt movement in a while.
@marikkita12 I'm sorry to hear your coworkers didn't give you a shower I had a similar experience when I went on leave with DS and it sucked. I hope you got to enjoy other showers outside of that job.
I'm super ragey today. After the old man comment yesterday that made me want to beat him with his own cane, to a very rude lady in the grocery line up today, I'm now chilling until it's time for my massage. Feet are in a very large tub of ice water with epsom salts to keep the cankles to a minimum.

i did become painfully aware of how long my leg hair was! Completely forgot to shave. Oh well. It was still amazing!
@seitzy3 I had a lot of soreness and nerve pain after mine last time. They grazed my sciatic so im not sure if that's why? I also had numbness in my right leg right at the top layer of skin for months.

I'm super ragey today. After the old man comment yesterday that made me want to beat him with his own cane, to a very rude lady in the grocery line up today, I'm now chilling until it's time for my massage. Feet are in a very large tub of ice water with epsom salts to keep the cankles to a minimum.
