Finally finished DS1's baby book yesterday...he turns 3 in October. Meanwhile, it only took me a day and a half to finish watching Stranger Things.

I still don't know how it happened, and I feel terrible,but I had to pee really quick, so I put her in the bouncer and ran to the bathroom. I heard her screech loudly so I came back, and she had fallen out of the bouncer! She was totally fine, but laying in a weird position which bothered her. I picked her up and she smiled at me. I am definitely clipping her in from now on. I have honestly never seen a mom clip their baby into a bouncer until they start rolling so I never even considered it as a possibility! Worst mom ever.

I'm glad you're both ok! I never strap my LO into her bouncer either. You're not a bad mom at all.

E keeps spitting up all over my side of the bed after I feed her. I haven't changed the sheets in 2 weeks and they stink.
@shaylalr glad she's OK! I never strap get in her bouncer either and she's come awfully close to falLing out, too. Usually when I'm sitting right there watching her.

@shaylalr I stopped strapping DS into his little portable swing (inches off the floor) if it is just for a minute and I'm not actually swinging because DH convinced me he wasn't going anywhere. Oops.

@rnyland1 we are doing the same things! I am finishing DD1s baby book...have nothing after 1 year old?! We also finished Stranger Things in 2 days..hehe prioritizing!

My confession is when DH gets home a part of me wants to run out the door. I love our baby but I haven't had any alone time in 5 weeks and that's hard

My mom is leaving again tomorrow and DH will be at work Monday. He doesn't take his leave until the following week so next week, I feel like LO and I will sleep all day (she's a day sleeper)

@Backbypopulardemand I am feeling the same. I was/am a very independent person and I love my alone time. I ran some errands the other day while the MIL watched the LO for a few hours. It was actually really nice and while I did miss her while I was gone, I handled it much better than I thought I would. I go back to work next week and I'm actually looking forward to it and some time around PEOPLE lol. I think it'll make the time when I'm home with her a lot more meaningful.

I went to lunch with a new mommy group. LO had a blow out. When I went to clean him up I realized I didn't have diapers, wipes, or a hanger of clothes. I have to ask a women I just met for a diaper and wipes, and LO went home naked.

I forgot to warm up the breast milk at her 4am feeding.

And sometimes I let her cry to see just how long she has to cry before DH will wake up to see about her.

DH and I are trying a new nighttime routine where he gets up and checks/changes her diaper and then hands her off to me if she's hungry (he's amazing). I always hear her waking up first, but now ive started waiting until he does so he continues to get up

@mnkenned It's probably good for her to wait a few minutes anyway. Sometimes they settle back down to sleep, especially as they get older. If you always swoop in right away, you may train baby to need you to fall back asleep. My opinion anyway.

@whataboutscience this is our mindset too for when I know he's just fussing and still tired. You actually gave me the confidence to do it. It's amazing how often he settles right back to sleep!

We noticed with our first at a certain age she just seemed to wake at 12 a lot of nights. Then one night she suddenly slept until 5. The next night midnight, the next 5 again. We started letting her cry for maybe a max of 5 minutes (torture for me as a FTM struggling with anxiety). Then she was suddenly consistently sleeping through until 5 or 6.

I wish LO would cry when he wakes up at night. Instead he turns into the hulk and grunts and groans to break free of his swaddle. We have to pick him up right away or else he breaks free and then is wide awake anyways.

DH was changing E's diaper this morning right before we left for church and she peed on him and the bottom of her dress. We left her in the dress.

@theshannondee and @whataboutscience, is there a way to tell when they wake up and are hungry vs. when they can just settle themselves? I'm having a lot of trouble making the distinction, so I always pick her up. She can always eat, so I have such a hard time.

@schaze For us, E will always start with a kind of grunting or squawking cry. If she's hungry it will get louder and a little more desperate. If she just woke up for no reason and wants soothing, she will keep with the more fussing noises until she settles down.

@schaze I'm bad at reading cues, but okay with a few minutes of crying if they don't seem to be miserable. With a newborn, I wouldn't let them cry for more than a few minutes though. If they stop crying by then, they are likely fine, just startled. If not, I would go to them and nurse if they didn't pretty recently and rocking/holding isn't helping.

@schaze for me I can tell his different sounds and cries and know when he is just making noise versus wanting snuggles or food. He also routinely only gets up once around 3:00 to eat and so I know that he is up to eat which helps too. Once I could distinguish his sounds it got much easier!

I haven't gotten the courage to just let him cry, but I have started not immediately offering him boob. I will just reswaddle him, pick him up and hold him. I've noticed that he isn't always hungry and sometimes, just wakes himself up and needs to resettle. I've also started putting him down awake in the middle of night. He usually just falls back to sleep on his own

Elijah spits up a lot after feedings. I used to change him after anything got on his clothes. But now if it's only a little and I can wipe it up pretty well, he stays in the same clothes.

I can't wait for bedtime. Everyone's bedtime so I can sit up and cry or be in a pissy mood without affecting anyone else. Why? Because I want too. I also can't wait for school tomorrow. It's a bitch readying everything for the week on Sunday nights but damnit Right now I need some quiet

I feel you @samantha1206. I finally get some quiet time where nobody needs me after DH and LO go to sleep. I'm exhausted and I should sleep but I barely get 5 minutes to myself these days.

Today's confession: My son is currently sprinkled with crumbs. He feel asleep on the boob, on the boppy and DH brought me home made sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich. And well...sandwich equals crumbs. Sorry son, Mama has to eat so she can feed you!

I ate a oatmeal chocolate chip muffin over E the other day and dropped a few chocolate chips on her while she was napping. They had mostly melted by the time I found them. Not one to waste good chocolate, I licked it off her face and arms. No shame.

I was eating pizza rolls last night while breastfeeding, the kind that burn your tongue 50,000 times. Then I looked down and saw a chunk of sauce on LO's arm. I don't see how it couldn't have burned him, but he didn't make a sound so idk.

I also find myself frequently skipping diaper changes, ugh.

I regularly eat over AJ while he's nursing. Today it was mashed potatoes on his head. I figure it is at least setting his routine that the family eats together.

my confession - I'm seriously jealous of DH sometimes. He travels for work and gets 3 nights of great sleep. He also still gets to go out with friends. He runs errands. He still drinks whenever without batting an eye...meanwhile, DS can be sound asleep and as soon as I leave the house, DS wakes up screaming and he is inconsolable for anyone but me. I love being a mom. I love that my son needs me and feels safe with me. But sometimes, I just really wish I could switch places with DH.

I feel you @FTM53. My BF works overnights and I let him sleep up to 7 hour stretches. I go back to work Monday. He's gonna have a rough week when it's his work to week and take care of the LO when I'm at work!!
