@stellaluna14 that is amazing!! Our bassinet keeps her on her back at night but I'm sure she will be a side sleeper when we start putting her down in her crib
Me: 28 | Husband: 39 Married March 2016 DD: born 7.22.16 DS EDD: 6.23.18
Camille can turn herself on her side and her belly if she's in the crib. It's not an issue if we put her in the rock n play bc it's snug. Once I noticed she can turn on her side I told the pediatrician and she told me not to worry she wouldnt be able to completely roll over but she surely can. I'll worry about it once she transitions to the crib.
Mikey peed on MIL's couch when my husband was changing him. I was so busy trying to get him to feed I forgot about the pee and I sat in the peed couch. Zero fucks given.
Supposed to be sanitizing my breast pump gear everyday... that's not happening. I don't have sanitizing bags so boiling everything for 10 minutes a day? Not happening. I really hope this isn't an UO!
I have sanitized things all of once. I'm hoping this woll just help build a resilient baby.
@thepen15ismighty mine peed on his face today. He was screaming at the time and I wondered if it got in his mouth. Then I realized if it did what was I going to do... And I moved on with my day
Just as I told my BF that I didn't want LO to pee on his umbilical cord guess what he did... yup pee everywhere. On the onesie, the new diaper, my hand and the changing table. The joys of having a boy!
So glad it's not just me. He's peed on his face and mine. We had a bad streak for a while. I don't think he's peed on anything for like 36 hours, so I feel super accomplished.
My LO projectile pooped on the wall next to the changing table during a diaper swap. At least it wasn't on me! But poor DH was cleaning poop off the wall at 3am
My LO also does not like to burp, I give her about two minutes and after that I give up. She doesn't really spit up very often so I'm guessing it's fine. I've managed to take a very quick shower every day because I'm terrified of my c section incision getting infected, however my hair gets washed maybe twice a week and I haven't worn makeup since I came home.
I highly recommend this vibrating chair! It is small enough to keep in my bathroom. It allows me to shower everyday. DD loved it and now DD2 likes it too. Between the chair, the sound of the fan and water, she is happy while I shower! I always make sure she was feed beforehand.
My confessions are that I'm also not the best at burping and probably give up too soon. Also, I look forward to nursing because it allows me to sit, relax and use my phone.
@foxa319 I guess I have to confess too, except ours is the other way around thankfully. DD was the most miserable baby, and this LO is an angel. People are surprised to see us out and about so soon, and we tell them what a good baby he is, especially compared to his sister. DD slept 9 hours a day and screamed (loudly!) the rest unless she was nursing. This guy sleeps 20 hours a day and is fine sleeping flat on his back in the crib.
This is a good thread... I have a few. 1. I don't like the newborn phase. The older my kids get, the more I like them. 2. I had these great newborn pictures done of DS1. DS2 had them scheduled today and he was IMPOSSIBLE. I just wanted to tell the photographer to leave, I don't really care if I have pics of the little guy. However, she stayed and did get some, but not near as many as DS1. 3. I'm looking forward to going back to work already, even though I know I will cry.
@hannahmp mmm yes that is my confession as well... I feel bad that part of me is relieved I am going back to work in a month.... love her so much, but getting professional help with childcare sounds... amazing.... (guilt guilt guilt)
@hannahmp and @Serpica - you need no guilt about going back to work! I used to work at an Early Learning Center. I love working with kids my and have been doing it my whole life. Even so, becoming a SAHM was a very hard transition for me. Now I love it, most days, but I can't imagine doing this if kids weren't my life's passion. I've seen parents stay at home with their kids because they think it is the best thing for them, even though they don't enjoy it. However, this isn't healthy for the parents or kids! I hate mommy wars of SAHM vs working mom. Both are tough in different ways, but one isn't better than the other IMO.
I'm a STM and the umbilical cord stump grosses me out... like want want to barf bad. DD1 had hers fall off within a couple days but DD2's just fell off today (9 days old). I noticed it was starting to come off and thankfully my mom was holding her when it completely came off. The only problem was that we couldn't find it for awhile... it was quite the scene. Funny now, not so much then...
I feel like my confession is terrible compared to some of these. But I'm a FTM and in my sleep deprived state the past few days I've wondered if people are just full of shit when they tell me it'll be worth it. DH and I were on the no kids train for awhile and these first few days have been truly a struggle.
The first night I had her home she wouldn't stop crying and I had no place to put her down. They told me the safest place for her if I was desperate was the floor so I laid down a swaddle blanket on my bathroom floor and put her on it so I could pee. I've since cleaned out her crib (using it to store stuff) so I can just plop her in there.
Lukas spit up on me last night. Like s lot. I had him laying on my chest so it went all over me and in my hair. I used a baby wipe to half ass get it out my hair and then threw it up in a pony tail. I smell like sour milk . I have no choice today but to shower since I've got errands to run
@sboston06- Don't feel bad! The first few days are really tough and sleep deprivation doesn't help... DD1 was a TOUGH baby but it does get better! Don't be afraid to ask for help and to step away when you need to!!! Someone once told me (before DD1) that as long as you make sure baby is fed, diapered, and in general ok, it never hurt to let them cry. When I was at my wits end, I would put her down to do what I need to and I knew she was ok for those few minutes. Hugs momma!
@sboston06 I feel the same way. Last night I wished I had a time machine I could use to fast-forward to DD being 4 or 5.
My confession is that I freak out about pumping just so I know I can leave her! I'm not worried about supply or anything else - just getting a break from her.
Also, the other day I had a major meltdown when she cried for an hour. I sobbed and wailed so much that she stopped crying and stared at me, like, "Whoa, what's your problem?"
July BMB Siggy Challenge: Weird Hot Dog Situations
I'm going into my new job tomorrow to meet all the staff before starting full time next month and I'm pretty thrilled to be getting out of the house for a few hours. My little one will be with DH and I'm looking forward to having some alone time. I'm sure I'll miss her though but I need this!
I have been home sick by myself. She is really fussy because of her stuffed up nose and screams when I put her down. I totally nursed while I was peeing on the toilet.
I wore my LO in her k'tan to poop over the weekend. She was asleep, DH was busy, and I really had to poop. No harm done.
I just read that I'm supposed to be doing tummy time 2-3 times a day everyday. LO will be 4 weeks tomorrow and I think we've put her on the play mat like 3x total? She falls asleep on my chest at least 2x a day though, so that counts right? I just tried play time again and she passed out about 2 minutes in...
@erin7264 my pedi said tummy time on your chest totally counts, especially in the beginning. She did encourage us to add in more floor time now that he's bigger because it works different muscles than on our chests but that they are both good.
With newborns, being on your chest is tummy time. As they get older, you definitely want to start doing more on the floor though. When they can barely lift their head, a warm body is much more comfortable than face on down on the ground. :-)
Baby is 9 days old and only does tummy time on our chests so far. She pushes with her legs and can totally scoot from being on my belly up to my shoulders. Strong legs!!
