I just had another u/s and I have 1 follie on my right that is not even above 10 and just a few on my left that are around 14. I am on day 8 of stims. The nurse flippantly said "oh you should have at least 20 bc you are so young!". Does anyone have any idea what would cause my follies not to grow!? I do have DOR but my RE said it was "borderline". I'm so frustrated.

@teamginger13 that's just rude! not helpful. you could just have the wrong protocol? how much gonal are you on? or perhaps its too much menopur? it could be as simple as that...are they upping your dosage?

@teamginer13- I am so sorry. I know how horrible that news is. I will pray so hard that they start growing! Are they upping your meds each time? If I can ask, what is your AMH? Mine is 1.55 and they called me borderline as well. Did they tell you what your AFC was at baseline? My theory is that the birth control they had me on for 2 weeks before suppressed me way too much, since I had such better results in May on lower dose injectibles for my IUI.
@omarismyhomeboy and @ colleen0516- Good luck on the ER tomorrow!
I'm afraid that my scan this morning did not go well and while I had tried to prepare myself, I was devastated. I still have the 2 lead follicles only and the other 5 just aren't going to catch up in time. Waiting for the official call from the nurse, but we are going to have to convert to an IUI. Considering I had 5 mature follies for my IUI in May and that didn't work, I feel like its almost pointless to do it. But obviously still going to try. I had a good hour long cry this morning.. and now resolved myself that we won't give up yet. However I am terrified that we may not ever even get to ER and this may not work for us. I am going to have a long talk with my RE on what she thinks happened and what our odds are going forward. As far as we know, I ovulate monthly and have open tubes.. so there is still no reason that this shouldn't have happened in the last 13 months... I guess I just have to have faith that something will work out in the end. I'll still be cheering you ladies along and hope for lots of BFP!

@Colleen0516 good luck at ER tomorrow!!! Thinking of you and @omarismyhomeboy Can't wait to hear updates on how it went!!
@teamginger13 grrrr I'm so sorry your nurse said that to you!! People need to learn that not everything they think in their head needs to be said out loud. I am hoping that they figure out s good plan for you and it gets you where you need to be!!
@JamieH2000 I'm so sorry to hear about your cycle maybe being cancelled. Did you get s call from your nurse with an update?? I hope your re can give you some answers and that you can feel good about next steps. Sending hugs!
im still worried about my follies too. My follies are 11mm-15mm and they aren't even measuring the small ones, just telling me "there are 16 small follies on the left ovary and 15-20 small ones on the right (plus the four they're measuring), so I don't even know how much smaller they are. I'm working on day 8 of stims so I am stressed that we're only going to get four follies and I wanted so badly to get more and freeze a bunch and not have to do stims again!! My re told me she was expecting me to get 25 or more mature eggs out of this cycle so I am just freaking out. I also started cetrotide this morning and holy crap the burning and itching welt I got was ridiculous!! I iced it for like 20 minutes and it eventually went away. Ugh I'm so stressed with all of this I feel like my brain is going to explode!
Otherwise feeling much better today in terms of crazy hormonal side effects. Hoping for some good growth when I head in for my next monitoring appt tomorrow morning.
@jamieh2000 My AMH was 1.83 I believe... That was last year so I'm not sure if it's changed or not. They did not tell me what my AFC was. I also was on BCP for 2 weeks... Your theory is interesting bc I also had no problems producing follies on all of my IUIs. You may be onto something! I'm sorry your cycle may be canceled. That is really terrible news. Hang in there and I will keep my FX for you!
@srh18 I feel like we are almost in the same boat. I also was hoping for a bunch so we could freeze them all and not have to do multiple ERs. But now it's looking like I will be lucky to have 1or 2. Ugh. Sorry about the cetrotide.. That sounds awful!
AFM the nurse called and said the doctor wants me to just stay on the same dosage and see me Monday for another scan. I'm not sure why she isn't increasing my meds. I just have to trust she knows what she is doing.

@teamginger13 I feel the same about not increasing meds!! At this point, give me all the meds and I'll deal with the outcome!! I realize this isn't probably a good plan, as OHSS does not sound like a good time, but grrrr this plan feels frustrating too!! Fx that your follies grow!!
@teamginger13 why would she say that?!! Its not belong anything. Grr, people annoy me! Stay positive!
@JamieH2000 I'm so sorry! I know how you feel, I felt like IUI's were a long shot, but your really never know. The right egg, with the right sperm, and the right spot to implant and BAM- Baby made! Keep hope! It's not over until there's a pregnancy test.
@omarismyhomeboy i unfortunately don't know anything about hat mediation. Ask you nurses and doctors today! Get informated- I'm so big on that. If I don't understand something, I ask. After 3 rounds of IVF- I'm not shy anymore lol GOOD LUCK today!!! Keep us posted!
AFM: I'm sitting in the hospital now. IV is in, paperwork done, my hubby did his part lol and now we are waiting for the retrival. So anxious and excited! To know that our babies are going to be created today is so cool! Today could be day 1 or the rest of his/her lives. Ahh!! We go through so much with IF- but this is one of the perks. We get to see our babies at conception, so amazing. Special for us ladies who struggle, it's incredible to think about.

@srh18- Hope your appointment went good this morning and those smaller ones are starting to grow! I know how disappointing this can be and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. They will still move forward with the ER with 4 right? Hopefully they can up your meds and get some more before ER. THinking of you and hoping for better news!!
@teamginger13- I really hope you get better news tomorrow too. The good news is there is still time to grow them as long as 1 or 2 aren't just taking off. It would be interesting to ask what you AFC. i think that is a huge predictor in the success of this. Looking back, I wish I would have asked that on my baseline. 4 weeks ago at my consulation, I had 12, and they RE said they hoped they would get 10-12 eggs then. However, I feel like at my baseline after the BC the AFC was down to 7. I almost wish we had just stopped then and waited another month, because I don't think a decline of like 45% after birth control bodes well for the cycle. I will definitely be asking my RE about this. I still think there is time for your cycle to work out and I will be thinking of you tomorrow!
@colleen0516- congrats on ER!! can't wait to hear how it goes!! you are so tough to keep on going, so third time has to be the charm. When I feel like giving up, I remind myself there are many ladies that this does work for, it just takes a couple times. Hope you are all done now and aren't feeling too rough!
@omarismyhomeboy- Hope the ER went well! It was today right?! Sending good vibes your way!
AFM, I triggered last night and will be doing the IUI tomorrow morning. I know it only takes one and being negative doesn't help, but struggling to find much hope that this will work. Just trying to keep going, since thats all we can do right? My DH and I had a good talk.. and we are going to keep trying until our insurance coverage runs out (which may get us 2-3 cycles of IVF if meds don't count- still TBD on that part). After that, we will evaluate how close we have gotten and decide if its worth trying any more out of pocket or if its better to move on to other options with that $$. When i think about potentially having to have children that aren't genetically mine, its devastating, but I also think that I could get over that to just have children at all. I just wish that donor egg or adoption weren't sooo expensive and also a long hard journey. Praying it won't get to that point, but glad to know I have a partner that will travel that road with me if needed. Thanks ladies for all the support, you really are the best!

@JamieH2000 I was just talking to a girl who had to start IVF 4 times bc she only got 1 egg each time. I don't think it's counted as a full cycle in terms of money though. She just retrieved 6 this time! So don't lose hope! We will be in the TWW together, try and stay positive

afm, nothing new really happening. Still only four follies growing. I unloaded on the NP who did my us this morning and started ballistically crying and I think I made her nervous because she ended up missing my lady parts with the lube-covered us wand and got me right on the stomach, all over my dress!! Then she over corrected for that and knocked my modesty napkin off me onto the floor...it was quite an exciting appt! Of course after our appt we were meeting friends in dc for brunch, so I was laughing trying to wipe the lube off my dress. I had a good laugh about it. Hahaha
anyways, I sent my nurse an email to hopefully get to speak with my re tomorrow about my concerns. The weekend dr did increase my gonal f but I'm frustrated that they've waited til day 8 of stims to change my menopur and day 9 to change my gonal f. The NP told me today is that they typically will just sacrifice the much larger ones in order to allow the smaller ones to grow--has anyone else ever heard of this? The NP told me that the big follies could get to 27 or 28mm and then might just kind of die or something, but that would be fine if the smaller ones are growing. I don't know, I have a lot of questions and concerns but I'm hoping that my re can give me some clarity tomorrow.
Another funny thing happened yesterday that I have to share--my BFF, who I was supposed to go this weekend to see and meet her newborn but had to cancel due to ivf, sent me a package that I got yesterday because she knows I'm super bummed about missing our visit. She sent me fertility chakra crystals and a fertility charm bracelet...I joked with DH that now when I get pregnant we won't know if it's the science or the crystals that are to blame!! Haha. I super appreciate having such a thoughtful friend but it did make me laugh.
@srh18 We are going to be doing PGS and frozen transfer, so it won't be for another 5 weeks or so. Basically I need to get through Saturday, which is when I should hear final numbers on how many day 5 blasts I actually have for biopsy

@srh18 I go back this morning for another scan. I am nervous but I feel much more bloated this morning then I have the last few days so I am hoping that is a good sign. I'm sorry about your low follie count also. It is SO frustrating to be shooting ourselves up with all these meds and our body just not responding the way it should! I have never heard of them letting the large follies die off to allow the others to grow.

So just talked to my nurse. I'll go in tomorrow for an us and if nothing new is happening, they're cancelling my cycle. I don't even know how to feel right now.
Congrats @teamginger13!! So happy to hear about your follies growing.
Just st got my call, of my 11 embryos, all were mature but only 8 fertilized with ICSI. I'm very happy with 8! However, I can't help but feel an overwhelming feeling of anxiety. My last TWO rounds I retrieved 11, 10 fertilized the first time and 8 the second time. I know they have no correlation with this round but hearing the same exact numbers again, is freaking me out! It's flashing me back to those rounds and making me nervous. SO STUPID- trust me, I know. But I am pleased with 8 embryos! I go back on Wednesday to discuss the grading of the embryos, see how they are doing and potentially do a transfer around 3:30 ish! Unless the are looking good and will make it to day 5.
@omarismyhomeboy glad you're feeling better! Any update on how many were mature and how many fertilized??

@Colleen0516 - Congrats! I would probably be feeling similar to you about the anxiety, but honestly I feel like your odds with 8 are really good! I would give anything to have 8 embryos right now, so I really hope this is the one that works! You have been through enough and so deserve this!
@teamginger13- Congrats on the extra growth! So glad you got good news
@srh18- I am so sorry. I honestly know exactly how you feel, since this just happened to me. I will be praying so hard that it turns around and doesn't get cancelled. Will they still do an IUI at least? Have you done many IUIs already? Thinking of you...
AFM, I had my IUI this morning. It went super smoothly and my DH was there for the whole time (he wasn't for the past 2, so maybe that will make the difference!). I am still feeling very realistic that it won't work, however we had 2 mature follies and his numbers were great (like 145mm with 60% grade A and 30% grade . I still just wonder how it doesn't work when you know you have the egg and great sperm at the same place at the same time. Makes me terrified that its just me and nothing can ever implant or something... Anyways, I did at least get to talk to my RE. She was very positive and based on my May numbers, she thought it was just a fluke cycle. I asked her if she thought the birth control could have suppressed me too much and she said maybe, though 80% of ppl are on it and its ok. She did say she would probably do an estrogren priming protocol next, and based off my research, that is what I wanted to try next (or even a natural cycle since that was what got me 8 follies in May). So if this IUI doesn't work, i'll get AF in two weeks, then track the next cycle with OPKs and after ovulation probably start estrogen. So likely my next IVF cycle would start around the end of Sept. After a set back, I always just want to move on and put it behind me, so that feels really far away.

@JamieH2000 aww good luck on your IUI! Those counts are great. I hear what you are saying about not knowing what goes wrong when the egg and the sperm are in the right place! I had 3 IUIs, and on my last one I had either 3 or 4 mature follicles. And still nothing. It's definitely nerve-wracking to think it could be ANYTHING. But I know so many people have eventual success, either through IUI or IVF.

@JamieH2000 thanks for your support!! I definitely did not prepare myself for the possibility of this outcome so I am having a bit of a hard time. I'm trying to be positive by I cannot stop thinking about how all of this was for nothing. Grr, what a waste of time and money! I think with four follies my re is going to be resistant to an iui, but DH and I agreed that we are going to push for it tomorrow. And push for talking to the re before we leave the office tomorrow. And we will probably just do some bding on our own if re is adamant against the iui. Fx for success with this iui!! When will your beta be? Are you taking progesterone?
@omarismyhomeboy- thanks for the thoughts! It's amazing that anyone gets pregnant honestly, but I know someday it will work for us all hopefully. Fx for a good embryo report!!
@srh18- with four follies, will they still do a retrieval? Mine will do it with as little as 3...not sure what your refund or financial situation is with IVF, but I would insist on either ER or IUI! If it makes you feel better about multiples, I did an IUI was 5 follies in May (at the time I thought it was only 4) and it was a BfN. I don't think you have mentioned your age, but especially if you are younger I think there is a good chance you could get 1 or 2 embryos if they got 4 eggs. But I do understand not wanting to do the ER if you think you could have a better chance with a different protocol. I would see what the RE thinks and maybe read up about an estrogen priming protocol. I would also ask what your AFC has been and maybe the birth control suppressed you too! I never even thought that this could happen to us either (odds were 1.5 percent with more than 10 AFC) so I was not prepared at all. Thinking of you and feel free to message me if you need someone to talk to. Crossing my fingers for you tomorrow!

@srh18 I agree with Jamie! Retrieve the 4 eggs or do an IUI! I had 3-5 follies every IUI with no success but know plenty of people who had success with that number of follies! Push for something, don't let them just cancel. Too much money, too much time and too much emotion goes into it!!
@JamieH2000 I'm praying for you!!!! You will be pregnant! I have a good feeling about you!
@omarismyhomeboy I'm so nervous too! I want to transfer some and freeze some, but I'm just trying to believe in the process and let it all play out as it will! Hopefully they update you within the week with how they are doing!!

@srh18 GL today and let us know how it goes. I am hoping you can at least get an IUI out of the deal. I had 3 follies with 2 of my IUI's. Obviously I didn't get pregnant but my RE had no problem doing the IUI's with that many.
@JamieH2000 Hang in there during the dreaded 2WW! I think 2WW with IUI's are the worst because in the first part of your cycle you are going to the RE every few days for BW or monitoring and then as soon as the IUI is done it's like everything stops for 2 weeks and you just have to wait! Do you have anything fun planned in the next couple weeks?

I think I'm in the right place. It seems like this board isn't too overwhelming. I went in this morning for my egg retrieval. They were able to get 22 eggs. I am in a lot of pain at the moment, and I have slept most the day, and now wide awake. I have enjoyed reading your stories and your positivity!

@RacheleLynn12 we are on the same schedule! Congratulations I had my egg retrieval today and wound up with 23, and am similarly in pain. With these numbers this discomfort is to be expected, and it's ultimately a positive thing, but it's still a drag. I'm sitting watching Olympic gymnastics and just SEEING all that twisting and turning is making my abdomen scream in sympathy.
@srh18 I'm so sorry about this cycle--I agree with everyone in hoping that you move forward with an IUI. It sounds like your follicles can and do respond well, it's just a matter of drug adjustments for future cycles if this one doesn't work out?
@cato99 when are you doing your transfer? I am excited to hear how things went on the fertilization front. I know there is going to be some drop off, but already have done my pio for the day, and ready to hear some good news! Hope to hear about yours as well!

@JamieH2000 weddings are a great distraction from the 2WW. It's too bad you won't be able to drink but hopefully you can still have fun! I don't have much planned for the next couple weeks but football is starting soon and my DH and I are really into that so that will keep us busy on the weekends. I may do a frozen transfer so I won't have technically have the 2WW until next month but I am sure it will still be hard.

@Colleen0516 congratulations on your three snuggling embryos!
@RacheleLynn12 I'm also planning on embryo transfer on Sunday!
Today's update from my RE was that out of my 23 eggs 16 fertilized. They'll update me next on Friday (day 3) and plan for Sunday's transfer.
We didn't get our act or paperwork together in time to do PGS before this transfer so I'm sure a number of the final embryos won't ultimately be viable, but with those numbers I do hope we end up with a pregnancy eventually from this round.

Back for # 2!
@srh18 I feel like we are almost in the same boat. I also was hoping for a bunch so we could freeze them all and not have to do multiple ERs. But now it's looking like I will be lucky to have 1or 2. Ugh. Sorry about the cetrotide.. That sounds awful!
GL tomorrow @omarismyhomeboy and @colleen0516!
AFM the nurse called and said the doctor wants me to just stay on the same dosage and see me Monday for another scan. I'm not sure why she isn't increasing my meds. I just have to trust she knows what she is doing.

After 3 rounds of IVF- I'm not shy anymore lol
GOOD LUCK today!!! Keep us posted!
AFM: I'm sitting in the hospital now. IV is in, paperwork done, my hubby did his part
We go through so much with IF- but this is one of the perks. We get to see our babies at conception, so amazing. Special for us ladies who struggle, it's incredible to think about.

@teamginger13 any updates??
afm, nothing new really happening.

@Colleen0516 - Congrats! I would probably be feeling similar to you about the anxiety, but honestly I feel like your odds with 8 are really good! I would give anything to have 8 embryos right now, so I really hope this is the one that works! You have been through enough and so deserve this!
@omarismyhomeboy - Wow, those are great numbers too. Congrats!
I am still feeling very realistic that it won't work, however we had 2 mature follies and his numbers were great (like 145mm with 60% grade A and 30% grade

@omarismyhomeboy @Colleen0516 tracking your stories with excitement! You're so close!
@srh18 I'm so sorry about this cycle--I agree with everyone in hoping that you move forward with an IUI. It sounds like your follicles can and do respond well, it's just a matter of drug adjustments for future cycles if this one doesn't work out?
June 2013- Married in Jamaica and started TTC
@rachelelynn12 and @cato99 welcome! I hope you both are feeling better today. Have you heard how many fertilized? 22 and 23 are great numbers!
@omarismyhomeboy and @colleen0516 any updates!?
@srh18 thinking of you and keeping my FX for a positive outcome.
AFM, my ER is scheduled for Friday. I am so ready to get it over with! I feel like a blob and my pants are so uncomfortable. I only have 7-8 follies.. I can't imagine how people felt with more follies!

I got the update on my day 3s (I am freezing them at day 5, so no fresh transfer). 11 of my embryos have 8 cells and are good grades (1 to 2.5). One more is 6 cells and grade 2, and the final one is 5 cells and grade 3.
This is all good news but am obviously waiting for the "big day" which is Friday....
