@AliKay20 So sorry to hear about your friend. Be sure to take care of yourself in the next few days, as tough as it may be. Sending lots of prayers and warm thoughts your way.
I am thinking of you. I lost my mom at 3 weeks PP with my DD 5 years ago. I worked really hard keeping my supply up and not falling into PPD.
That said, take care of yourself, ask for help, cry and grieve. Lots of love coming from your August mommas.
You are so strong. I'm sorry about your mom. I admire your strength and will keep going as my friend was full of life and would have wanted exactly that.
@texasmama2014 It's crazy how surreal this all feels. She was 29 and had already achieved so so much in her life. I feel like she would tweet any minute. Prayers much appreciated.
Well here we are.. First nightly feed. LO is now 11 days, I'm thinking she started a growth spurt yesterday. She always seems to cluster in the evenings but her feeding a have come increasingly longer. Feeling like a milk house..

Having our first cluster feeding showdown tonight! 3 days old, I've been nursing since 10:45! Luckily DH convinced me to just nap earlier so it's not that big of a deal that I am up. I'm just having a hard time figuring off the sleepies I get from nursing! I read about this before E arrived and I totally get his people accidentally fall asleep with the baby on their chest!
Well here we are, after 2am. I have yet to sleep. I think the formula is seriously messing with A's stomach. He's been super fussy since we started supplementing. I'm going to talk to the ped at his appt tomorrow. Hopefully he's gained enough weight that we can stop with the formula. We even switched to a sensitive one. I can't deal with any more nights of no sleep.
Formula can be rough Have you tried tube feeding? I know it's still giving LO formula but also breastmilk. I did this with DS2 and I recommend it if you need to supplement.
@Curls919 in right there with you. I can't take these restless nights anymore and I'm hoping DD gained enough at our appointment today. She cried for literally three hours tonight and nothing soothes her. I had a breakdown and cried. DH has been up with her all night. I am so lucky to have him to help.

@midwestbaby@Curls919 I know that it won't help you to get any sleep tonight, but it does get better! I'm just a few weeks ahead of you guys and the "nothing soothes her" phase is almost over (99% of the time for us it is just hunger). Hang in there!
Oh these night time feedings. DD also decided it's time to stir so DH went to lay with her, normally she just gets in bed with us so it's makes me a little sad. I am pleasantly surprised that G hasn't woken her up with his crying, our house is old with super thin walls so I've been worried. I may have also just broken every baby rule there is and fell asleep for this last stretch with LO on my chest. I remember it's the only way we would get sleep some nights with DD.
@Lynnlove28 You do what you have to and what works for you! Both of my older kids slept with DH and I from the time they were babies. I'm hoping things will be different with DS3 but won't beat myself up if that's what we have to do to be able to function.
I'm definitely in the camp let them sleep on you. If I didn't do this, A would never sleep.

After breastfeeding baby, I put her on my chest upright so she has a better time digesting. At 4 AM today though, we stayed this way for what I thought was 20 mins but it was actually 2 hrs. We both woke up and started over again: Boob in mouth, burp, lay on chest then delivered baby to DH as there needed to be a shift change pronto.
I've resigned myself to basically co-sleeping at this point. I've done all the safety measures to our bed (just a sheet, less pillows, etc), because it's the only way we get a stretch of sleep longer than 1/2 an hour. I've started doing naps in his rock n play, and I'm hoping that will help him start to sleep in there at night, but at this point, I'm all about whatever gets us the most sleep. Caring for a newborn and a 2 year old during the day is not doable without any sleep.
@Bookhousegirl I broke down and bought a dock a tot for co-sleeping. I'm praying to the high heavens it helps, but our DD also likes to be held 24/7

So we only gave my pumped milk today to supplement nursing and tried new gas drops. So far so good. As long as he goes down easily after this feeding then I may actually get an ok amount of sleep.
@Curls919 which gas drops are you using? Baby E has some terrible gas that is keeping her up. I have the little remedies ones, but I was thinking of trying another one.
I'm right there with you @ShanRum3 . I'm up with heartburn/reflux, headache, peeing every 5 minutes... you name it. I'd give anything for some contractions right about now.
I'm up feeding Levi. Wondering if he will sleep in his bassinet again after this or if he will only sleep with me again tonight. He always starts the night in his bed, but thus week he sometimes refuses to sleep in there after his first night feeding.
Before D was born I was totally against co-sleeping, I felt it was very unsafe. Now sometimes I can't imagine not doing this sometimes. He sleeps so much better next to DH or me. We try to put him in his crib or bassinet as much as possible. I do think taking extra precautions are necessary and only co-sleep with him in our bed (too soft because of memory foam) if I prop myself up at 45 degrees and he is on my chest so I know I won't roll over. I will put him beside me on the very firm futon in the nursery or the couch and make sure we both have our own blankets and no extra bedding or pillows. But it's amazing how much of a 180 can happen in just a few weeks...
@nikkoli98 I felt the same way before DD. But co-sleeping is the only way anyone in our house got any sleep. And when under pressure to get back to work quickly, sleep had to happen. I am very thankful it worked well for us and plan to do the same with this baby. It is amazing how quickly views change!

The little remedies one is what actually worked! Gripe water did nothing for us
I'm so tired and waiting for the nurse to come in for my midnight check. Baby E is currently sleeping on me. She's been nursing like crazy all day and I am running on zero sleep (thanks to being too excited to sleep last night). I'm hoping she can swaddle her up and put her in the basinett and she just sleeps for long enough so I can take a cat nap. Poor DH just got to sleep. He's been doing everything and needs it!
I am up, just got done nursing Aria. Now I'm chowing down food because my supply seems to have tanked in the last few hours. I got absolutely squat on the breast she didn't nurse pumping. Now I'm all worried i didn't drink enough water or eat enough calories yesterday and won't be able to produce for her today. Last night was her first non fussy night, but also her first night with no formula supplement since we got the ok from the pediatrician that her weight was up.
Come on boobs, you are the lead position again! Get with the program!

My DH has always been so wonderful and incredibly helpful when we had our other 2. I see no reason he won't be this time too. He has a hard time sleeping, so I understand you not wanting to wake your hubby. I try to never wake mine unless necessary!
Well, we're up again. The 2:30am feed went well and he fell back asleep immediately. Then pooped & fussed so I go change him. In the middle of the change he poops again, getting it all over his pjs. So I change his clothing and get him settled down. Then he gets the hiccups so he's wide awake. I'm now nursing again and hoping he falls asleep soon.
