@rock1cherry@yellowrose314 ditto! post pics! I kept a tote-type bag and a backpack for myself for different outings.
Also, I've never heard of Samy & Jack!
My question: since our LO's will be born at the beginning of fall/autumn, do they need jackets of sorts for the winter weather?? Or do you just bundle them up with layers of clothes and blankets???
@frogdog06 my DD was born Oct 13 and we did layered clothes and swaddled/blankets that first winter. But we live in NC and it was never super cold for an extended period of time....
@yellowrose314@frogdog06 thanks for the reply and info. Here are some pics of the diaper bags. Sorry for the crappy lighting. They're all similar style. The Carter's and Skip Hop have more features and pieces.
@frogdog06 I only started using a coat when DD was old enough to walk around really well. The reason for that is how annoying it is to take it off every time you put her in the car seat, and then putting it back on when you get her out. I have a box in the car that I keep hats, blankets and this elastic quilt thing that goes around the car seat carrier and has a little flap at the top for their face. I can send a pic if that doesn't make sense!
@rock1cherry what a fun problem to have! I'm a FTM but I like to switch pocketbooks around and get sick of the same one so if it were me I would keep 2 and return one. I like the Carters one best! maybe keep the grey one too to switch it up.
@frogdog06 I always used a thick car seat cover and put a blanket over legs. Just make sure that whatever you go with you bundle over the latches/straps instead of under. Bundling baby and then putting him or her in the car seat is a big no no since you can't adequately tighten the straps.
@frogdog06 I live in Canada in an area with cold winters and all my mama friends rave about the Petit Coulou covers. They have winter and also mid-season covers for more mild areas. There is no need for a jacket with these and no interfering with the straps.
@rock1cherry I say keep them all. The second one would make a good daddy diaper bag since it's all black! I got a fancy Timi & Lesli one that's more a purse style and then a heavy duty Skip Hop for long trips and such, I like to change it up
@geminigirl16@frogdog06 the cover Gemini posted is the kind I was talking about. I love mine! Mine isn't as nice as the one she posted, but I don't have Canadian winters! This is what I have, and I love it!
Mother effer, it won't let me paste the link. It's a JJ Cole Car Seat Cover from Target.

I wish I didn't have to deal with cold Quebec winters....brrrrrrrr!
I live in MN and to this day my almost 5 year old still doesn't wear a jacket persay in the winter. I keep a set of winter clothes in the car and at daycare. In her car seat she has a fleece jacket and a heavy blanket to cover with. Baby gets the car seat cover. The more clothes the more risk of them flying out of a car seat in the winter
@yellowrose314 You might be right. We have such wonderful food choices here! On the other hand, whenever I visit Vancouver island, I never want to leave. I have such fond memories of Victoria and Tofino in particular.
frogdog06 I'm late, but thanks for the response. We went yesterday and they gave us a bit of grief for returning things that weren't on our registry (no gift receipt, but had BRU tags). It ended up working out, but I had 3 or 4 things from Amazon that I wanted to return to BRU since we were there, and immediately they said "this isn't from our store", I've heard you can do that too but somehow they knew!
Had a December baby in Maine in 2014. He had a couple of snowsuits for going outside (we snowshoe a lot.. dog walks etc), but not for the carseat. In the car he'd wear a warm outfit that included a thin sweatshirt or something similar, and a big blanket over his lap (above straps of course). We never had issues, and limited time outside when windchill was below 0 Farenheit. In the Spring he wore a thin fleece jacket both years, including in the carseat.. if the straps can still be worn without me loosening them at all for the thickness of the jacket, I'm ok with it. BUT, that is not a true recommendation just my own level that might send some women into heart palpitations.
@rock1cherry I love the Carter's bag and the Damero (for spring/summer). However, will DH be carrying the bag(s) also? If so, then I would keep the SkipHop one as it looks gender neutral and then keep the gray one for spring/summer.
@estephenson13@MrsVoorhees@OBMommy@geminigirl16@asht@yellowrose314@AnnaS930 This explains why the baby coats are limited in size availability for 0-6 months. Also, umm, I should have mentioned that we live in California...where anything under 70 degrees is cold to us. Thanks for the input - I won't be breaking my neck trying to find a coat for her.
@nativetexan512 Hmm, that's not very nice. My local BRU was very accepting of my returns, withour receipt, and never accused me that the items weren't from their store. Did you check their online site to see if the actual items were sold by them? I verified first before waltzing in and giving them the spiel in an apologetic manner that the items were gifted, no receipt, not from my registry. Also, if BRU didn't accept them, check Target!

That's true. I've lived on Vancouver Island my whole life, and it's easy to take it for granted! I don't do well in cold though, so the west coast "winters" appeal to me... but man.. the poutine might persuade me.
For the record, I didn't return a slew of items just for gift cards haha as 90% of items gifted were from our registry. I think I returned 4-5 things total that we ended up not needing (e.g. Medela pump kit since our insurance provides Ameda).
+1 for poutine. Gravy on anything. Especially fries. Mmmmmmmm. -1 for poontang.
@RG1 the bump ate my explanation lol so you use grease from sausage bacon etc (or oil if you're vegetarian) and add milk and flour and some seasoning let it boil and thicken and bam. Country gravy. Best served with sausage over biscuts. Mhmmm
It's so good!!! We have brown gravy too, but in Oklahoma, at least, when you order something that has gravy on it, it's white gravy. I love a chicken fried steak with gravy!!
Alright well clearly I need to do a house swap with one of you southern ladies. That looks sooo good. I might have to try this whole biscuits and gravy thing... My blood sugar won't like it but the baby kicked when I looked at pictures of B&G, so I'm taking that as a sign that I NEED to eat it.

Your baby may identify as Southern. You need to brush up on your potential child's culture!
Dammit, now I want biscuits and gravy...or the vegan country fried "steak" from my favorite restaurant downtown. Not driving an hour to get it, though.
To me, gravy is usually brown, but I do know what white gravy is. It's delicious on biscuits!
This is my quick question: how many swaddle blanket does one need? We have a lot!!
I like having a lot! You *need* one to wash and one to use, I would say, but I like having quite a few for spit up and stuff so I'm not constantly doing laundry.
