@PoodleDoodleOoo I say RNP over the bouncer for sure. Our son ended up with reflux and that's the only way that he was able to sleep without gagging and choking. His pedi actually recommended it for babies with reflux, even though it's not traditionally recommended for overnight sleep. We also really loved using it around the house. I liked how baby was up high so I could see him and talk to him while I was cooking or taking a shower or whatever. It also folds up in half for more compact storage or to take to a friend or family's house. We also got this toy bar that clips perfectly on it and DS loved to play with it as he got older. It also vibrates just like most bouncers do! As you can tell, we are huge RNP fans but I really think you will get a lot of use out of it.
Everyone keeps talking about these RNP's but I have yet to find one in a store in Canada. I checked 2 BRU's, Walmart and other baby boutiques and Amazon.ca, no luck. Which sucks because they sound amazing

There was some sort of recall for the RNPs in the US within the past couple of years due to mold growing in the fabric and so I think after that Canada stopped selling them. That's why I buy a new RNP with each baby because I am nervous about the mold issue after keeping the RNP in storage and the cover technically isn't washable.

Girl, no! I've found them typically in the $40-$60 range.
@nativetexan512 Gift returns at all the main baby retailers (BBB, BRU, Amazon, Target) will provide store credit, not cash. That being said, you can return most items at any of the stores -- just don't show the gift receipt, and know that BBB and BRU may discount the return price by 20%. I opted to return a few duplicate items that were Amazon gift purchases at Target and BBB.
@yellowrose314probably because Canada is safer than the US for some baby items. I remember Canadian mamas on my last board being shocked that we still can buy and use walkers that actually move around the house (versus an excersaucer/jumperoo) for our babies since they're apparently not allowed up there?? We never used one since we have different floors to our house (tile, carpet, hardwood) but I flew down a set of stairs in mine as a baby!!

Yeah, I would say this and other safety reasons. My doctor advised me to not get one because they're only supposed to be used until baby can roll over, which for a lot of babies isn't long enough to be worth it. He didn't feel they were safe after they can roll. But with issues like reflux, I would still get one!

Do you do it behind the driver's seat or the passenger? Or does it not really matter. I plan on going to our local fire department within the next couple weeks to have them install it for us. I feel ridiculous for asking but I don't care lol.

I did my infant seat in the middle, but it will be behind either the driver or passenger this time because I know DD1 will throw things into it if it's too close haha. And I'm hoping to get a new car with buckets on the second row.The car seat tech told me the center is safest and the sides are the next safest but it doesn't matter which side. She said that people will tell you that the driver side is safer because the driver instinctively protects their side, but she said research doesn't support that and both sides are equal. We have DD on the passenger side just because she's in a RF convertable now and H can't scoot the driver seat back with it behind the seat.
@ahackett1990 FTM here too but I've been advised that it's safest behind the passenger or middle seat. It's easier to load in baby and doesn't put you and baby on the traffic side when parked on the street (unless you are on a one-way obv) so less chance of someone driving too close/hitting you when bringing the baby in or out.
Hey ladies- I'm pretty pissed off right now and I really hope I'm just over reacting but here's my question.
My nephews stopped by today, and my sister in law put my 2+ Year old Nephew into our brand new $180 swing. The whole thing bent down super low and she kept him in there for like a minute and said he loves pretending to be a baby!
im freaking out it damaged the swing. I can't tell if it did or not but I'm really upset. What nerve.
So my question is- could this have damaged it at all?

The answer you will get from car seat techs is you install the seat wherever you can get the best install. The middle can be difficult because you often don't have the latch system there and most cars don't allow for latch sharing. I've always done passenger side.
@MrsVoorhees and @geminigirl16 thank you for the tips! I'm thinking she'll go on the passenger side back seat. Makes sense about the parking on street- especially because I have a Honda CRV. If I had a mini van with sliding doors instead of swinging doors I think parking on the street wouldn't be such a big deal. But I love my CRV and crossovers. I'm not quite ready to give it up yet
@ahackett1990@Smallinetta Like PP said, the safest place is the place where you can get the best install. Statistically, the middle is safest and both sides are next safest. Those of you going to a fire station to get an install, make sure it is a certified tech. Also, they should not install for you, they should show you how to install so that you can confidently do it yourself. You definitely want to know how to do it if you have to move the seat and just to periodically check it. Also, Car Seats for the Littles is a fantastic group on Facebook. They have tons of great info and answer all kinds of questions.
@geminigirl16 ah yes, i never thought about that. We don't have much street parking in Oklahoma so that's never been an issue. She did say she likes the passenger side because then you do a walk around the vehicle and it gives you a chance to check for backing obstacles and the tires and everything
It's true @MrsVoorhees it really depends on where you live I guess. I am in Montreal with LOTS of street parking on very narrow streets in many areas. My little guy will be put behind the passenger seat for this reason. That and drivers here can be a little nuts here at times!
@ahackett1990 neither of our cars have the LATCH system in the middle, so we have the seat installed behind the driver in one car, and passenger in the other. Mostly due to space restrictions. The infant seat rear-facing takes up a LOT more room than the forward-facing toddler seat.
Also, I know I'm late to this part of the conversation, but we didn't turn DS front-facing until his third birthday. He just sat "criss-cross applesauce" and didn't care at all. He was actually ticked when I turned him around because he couldn't see as well!

Ahh that make sense... I just checked the FP website and they don't have them on there either. Bummer They sounded like such a heavenly rescue.
I have no idea what I would've done without my rock n play last time around. DD slept like a charm in that thing from the day we brought her home from the hospital. It was the first thing I purchased for this baby.
@Ah825 I would try running it without anything in it and see if it looks and sounds okay. Hopefully she didn't damage it but it's possible that it could have. The weight limit on the FP swings are about 25 lbs I think.

I ran it and it seems to be running and sounding okay. I'm still pretty pissed off about it especially bc my husband is trying to defend her putting him in there. The whole thing dipped down and looked like it was gonna snap in half. I think I have the right to be upset about that especially when it's brand new and very expensive.
@Ah825 - I'd be pissed regardless of whether ot not it was broken! I would have screamed at her as she was doing it though, so i cant really give good advice on how to handle it.
@Ah825 I would never put my 2 year old in the swing for funsies or anything else the baby will use (although he did attempt to fit himself in the bumbo which was hilarious). I don't blame you for being pissed one bit.
Agreed with @sarafuss, check the weight limit as well. My DS just turned two and is 28 lbs so a bit above the 25 lbs limit but probably not enough to do damage.
The weight limit is 20 lbs. he def exceeded that limit. He's a chunk and was huge in the swing. Like it literally dipped down almost to the floor. How can people be so stupid? I'm still so pissed off about it. How could she do that? I've never had problems with her before bc I thought she was intelligent. We are actually pretty close. But I don't tell them what to do bc I thought two educated people with two kids would know better. Nothing I can do now. I just hope it will be fine for my baby. MY baby, not hers.
@ah825 Even if he hadn't broke it, I would still be mad. I've spent money on new things that I expect to be used for my baby and not for someone else's kid. It would totally rub me the wrong way!
So my husband was very lightly rear ended in our outback, fortunately DD and I weren't in the car and he's fine. It was in stop and go traffic at the airport, damage to the bumper was minimal, punctured and scratched it, but no major dents really and no air bag deployment. All that to say it was a minor accident. But the Diono Radian manual says to replace it after any accident, regardless of child occupancy. Does that seem like overkill? I love these car seats but they're pricy. And I don't know whether the other guy's insurance would cover replacement for such a minor accident. My gut feel is that the seat will still be safe, but car safety obviously not something I want to eff around with. What would you do? Especially you car seat savvy moms.
@abberson I was in a similar accident about a year ago when my son wasn't in his car seat. The police on scene said my car seat was fine, and I took their word for it. I think a cracked bumper is very different from a legit accident. Guess I could be wrong, though!
@abberson we had a similar situation happen and did replace the seat. We were rear ended by someone not looking while turning at a stoplight at maybe 10mph. My son was in the car. Airbags did not go off. The only damage to our car was a crack in the bumper, no structural damage. If the manual says replace, I replace. My husband thought I was crazy pants but I don't mess with car seat safety.
@abberson absolutely replace. The other insurance company should cover it. If they refuse, show them the manual and ask them if they want a child's safety to be put at risk? (I've had a bullseye on me recently, multiple accidents and never had a problem getting a new car seat covered by insurance.)
@abberson I wanted to reiterate what @PSUBecky23 said. Insurance will usually cover it without a problem. And even if they for some reason did not, it's worth the peace of mind to buy another and know you're not compromising safety when it could matter most.

2. I got three diaper bags as gifts. Do you have more than one diaper bag (i.e. One for daycare and one for you?) or just one? Not sure how to pick which to keep. They all seem nice! One is a Skip Hop, one is Carter's and one is Damero.
3. How do you decide what to hang in a closet and what to fold and put into a dresser? We received so much clothes! I didn't know if I should just keep out what fits for the closet or if certain things should go one place over another.
@abberson this makes me feel like I need to replace ours also. We JUST got it replaced from another accident, too. The first accident was someone rear ending us and I knew it was going to need to be replaced then so we did it right away. This time a truck scraped against the side of our car. It did a lot of damage but DH was in the car and said that aside from the sound, there wasn't an actual impact to be felt (we've had harder impacts from a sudden stop). Since it did so much damage to the car I'm thinking we should replace anyway though.
