@asht That's no fun when it's hot and your pregnant! What's going on with it? DH is an HVAC tech and I can potentially give you ideas on what may help until they can look at it.
@KimmySchmidt I'm with others in thinking you were discriminated against. And there's just not a damn thing we can do. It sucks.

Don't know. The tech will come out tomorrow and look at it. It doesn't even fire on. I know nothing about those systems and being pregnant I am less willing to mess with unknowns
@KimmySchmidt Ugh, what an unpleasant experience for you. Discrimination IS hard to prove because they can easily say that they just didn't feel you were a right fit for the job and then make up some asinine reason.
Don't take it to heart, though - and what I mean by that is don't let yourself think it was something about you OTHER than the fact that you were pregnant that kept you from getting that position. If his only feedback was "You didn't move around enough" then you know it had nothing to do with your actual performance.
I'm in the hometown this weekend visiting my parents and I was reading the local (smaaaaall town) paper and spotted a caption under a picture of a little girl with her name: Linkyn. I can totally get on board with making a masculine name a little more feminine with spelling but that is a disaster.
@KimmySchmidt that sucks. I'm sorry. I've been wanting to switch grade levels for a few years and have interviewed for every job that becomes available only to be passed over by a new hire, which is bs. But, my current position is extremely difficult to fill, so I can't help but feel that's why they won't transfer me. This year of course a ton of other nearby districts posted positions but I didn't even bother applying given my current status. At any rate, I understand your frustration.
Regarding carseats, DH's cousin switched their one year old under the guise of he doesn't have room for his legs. So. Uneducated. My kid is hands down several inches taller than him and is still rear facing because it's safer. I just hate the excuses people make at the expense of their kids' safety.
@diagonalley totally agree on the car seats. I don't get how if you KNOW it's safer, you forward face anyway. If anything happened to Dom that I could have prevented I would literally never forgive myself.
@diagonalley Team Baby Gap! I just bought some Hanna Andersson socks (the store is 25% off this weekend) for LO... and am eagerly awaiting the entire baby release of the new Cat & Jack line at Target.
@fireflygirl12 +1 for Kohl's, only when I can score an additional 30% and earn some Kohl's cash. It ends up being cheaper than Carter's too. The discount applies to aden & anais (online only) so I'll buy shower gifts from Kohl's if I can. Sometimes I'll get the Macy's $20 off $50 coupon too - that on top of the Carter's sale is cheaper than the Carter's store.
@camichael84@JLmama118 ooh, congrats on a date!! (P.S. Layla here also, DH picked it out. )
It's 1:15 and I've been awake for over an hour. Finally gave up and got up. Currently eating fruity pebbles, watching parts of the opening ceremony that I missed, and sorting through DD1s newborn and 0-3 month clothes. If I can't sleep I'm at least going to be productive! Also, I forget how small she was!!
After going through our 0-3 month clothes, I counted. We have 22 long sleeve onesies and 30 short sleeves. DD1 was born in December. I don't understand.
Morning all. I was a good daughter this morning and woke up at 5am to drive 10 miles and put chairs out for my parents to see Lyle Lovett tonight (llbean does free summer concerts, chairs can go out at 6am, luckily everyone just leaves chairs and you don't have to sit there all day). Bought a dozen donuts at our amazing donut place on the way home, now I'm laying on the couch... Husband, dog and toddler all still asleep upstairs. Life is good
@yellowrose314@mamadomino Yep, in the belly button piercing club too. Never did I think that a decision when I was 17 would end up looking this atrocious at 33. I look like I have a second tiny innie belly button, and it's only getting bigger.
@KimmySchmidt Ugh, I'm sorry, that is a crappy situation. It does sound like you were discriminated against, especially if that was the only "negative" feedback they could give you -- doesn't sound like a reason to re-open a job search.
@MrsVoorhees AH! I know a Lincoln who's a big, big, big, hairy, burly dude. Now all I can picture is a little girl that looks like that. I'm horrified.
@camichael84 I'm behind but I'm happy to read your update!! And so happy that you have a date!
@frogdog06 we have the Cat & Jack line in our Targets in Oklahoma!! I almost posted about it one day, their stuff is SO cute and so cheap!! I bought Claire pants for $4.99, and an outfit for $7.99, but I want all of it.
@MesVoorhees right?! And while Circo is decent, the Cat & Jack line seems slightly better quality. They just had a $5 off $25 promo which I took advantage of...twice. And I'll only buy the Circo baby stuff at Target when my cartwheel has 30% off. Anyhoo, there's more stuff (organic sleepers, baby stuff) to be released tomorrow!!
I just got the formal invitation for a good friend's wedding on October 8th. I'm due September 27th. Assuming baby comes on time, this wedding would be 11 days after birth. I'm wondering if it's too soon to be going to something? It's in town and my mom would babysit, but I'm worried I'll still be healing and won't have started pumping yet. Any thoughts? I never really entertained the possibility that I wouldn't be able to go until I started looking at the calendar..
@Thscary I probably wouldn't go personally - if baby came on her due date. Unless I could attend the ceremony and do dinner and then leave. I assume I will be exhausted and sore and won't be up to it. But I don't know what to expect either.
I'm debating about going to a football game one month after she's born. I don't know if I will be up to a whole day outside at a rowdy sporting event. But it is the one time my team is in Buffalo in like 8 years!!! So tough.
Today is my shower! I'm so excited to go home and see my family as I haven't seen them in so long. Yay!
@Megan324 This sounds so similar to me except I'm eating an eggo waffle and FI was out late last night with a few guy friends instead.
I told him he could have a late night out since I want him to start being closer to home and keep drinking to a minimum soon. I, however, didn't count on the fact that I wouldn't fall asleep till he got home. He's not usually a too big of a drinker but I have abstained this whole pregnancy and I want him near & sober just in case I go into labor early.
@Thscary I'm thinking I probably wouldn't go, unless you're feeling unexpectedly great. Also it's so hard to guess when the baby will actually appear! I have a good friend's wedding 3 days before my due date and have told her not to count on me, although I'd love to be there. I hated to say I couldn't go but she understood.
@Thscary I'm on the same boat. I have a wedding on sep 24 and my due date is the 11th. I've told my friend that I would love to go but won't be able to give a true answer until later

Only speaking from last time, I definitely wouldn't have been ready 11days after. Would you bring baby to the wedding or leave them with a sitter? Either way, I definitely wouldn't have wanted to go. I still had hormonal BO and was bleeding quite a bit, boobs were engorged by that point and I was still figuring oit breastfeeding. But I know other people that were out and about 5 days after, so everyone is different!
@geminigirl16 I feel you! This was his last weekend to go out and do what he wanted. I also want him close to me just in case.
He didn't even drink too much last night, he could have driven home but we live 30 mins away from where he was and he had to work out there this morning so it just didn't make sense to drive back.
@jas1982 , @marikkita12 , @MrsVoorhees thanks for the input ladies. I'm also thinking I probably shouldn't go. I'll tell her in person at her bridal shower tomorrow. Hopefully she will understand
@Thscary I probably wouldn't go either. It's pretty close to DD. I was in a friends wedding in June after having Cam in March and it was tricky with all the pumping and stuff and that was just a couple months later. Couldn't imagine a couple weeks. is she a close friend? Maybe you can RSVP yes and explain to her there's a chance you couldn't make it. I know it's hard to do stuff like that for a wedding but I would do it for a good friend

I was also going to ask whether you could bring the baby? That way, you don't have to worry that you haven't started pumping. And like @mrsvoorhees said, I think everyone is different, because my friend went to a wedding about 8 days post partum. They brought the baby and her husband went too. The baby is only a month old and theyve already gone to two weddings, out for dinner, and multiple outings. She's basically super woman
@Thscary I wouldn't go unless you can potentially bring the baby. I personally would not be comfortable with already pumping and introducing bottles at only a little over a week old. If you could bring baby you could potentially at least go to the ceremony and/or dinner.

Just needed to replace a couple of parts to buy us a few more years. The system is old 14 yrs so it looks like we will need a lot of money in the next few years for all the up grades we need. While her the tech also did the radon speech so now that's freaked me out.
Guys, when does the nesting kick in?! I know I have a lot of things remaining to do with dwindling time (5w+3) left and yet, I keep procrastinating!
Maybe because I have the big things (crib, bassinet, stroller, car seat, clothes) done, I'm thinking that the rest is non-essential at the moment? Is it possible that nesting may only kick in at a later week?
Re: August Randoms!!!
Also picked up a $70 Graco swing almost new for $10

@JLmama118 Good luck to you on your induction as well! Can't believe in less than 4 weeks, she will be here!
Yay for our and @frogdog06 's Laylas! It such a pretty name, and one I've loved since I was about 19.

@camichael84 @JLmama118 plus our LO's have that song by Eric Clapton..
Now I'm grumpy and eating a pop tart lol
